ACTIVITIES AND RESTAURANTS:
- HERMITAGE INN is a gem right next to our property. Check out www.thehermitageinnvermont (.com) to see seasonal events and happenings. They offer both upscale and tavern dining indoors and outdoors. There are also firepits outside, perfect for a drink.
- Be sure to check out visitvermont (.com)/events before your trip. The website is run by the Chamber of Commerce and lists all local events and festivals in the area.

We recommend AllTrails app to see all the trails in the area. Valley Trail, Hoot Toot and Whistle Trail in Wilmington, also Haystack Mountain trail from the Chimney Hill side are popular trails
- LAKES: MIRROR LAKE at the bottom of the Haystack Mountain is a nice and small lake to enjoy for swimming. It’s a private lake so please keep off the indoor areas but you can enjoy the lake otherwise. To get there, make a left at the driveway, another left at the intersection on Fannie Hill Road and walk straight, you’ll see the Gatehouse for Hermitage Club and the lake next to it. HARRIMAN RESERVOIR: A much larger lake, it offers multiple picnic and beach areas, boating, kayaking. www.highcountrymarine (.com) offers boat rentals. -FLYFISHING: vermontflyfishers (.com) has multiple locations in the area for flyfishing, locations and types of fish change depending on weather and season.
-Cross Country Skiing, ice skating and snow shoeing: Rentals available at the Hermitage Inn, there’s also an outdoor ice skating rink setup in the winter.

We had a great time

4 Bedrooms with en suite bathrooms plus a huge finished basement with bunk beds for kids. In the summer it's clearly not used that often and could benefit from a little TLC but overall an amazing space for large groups.

This is our second time to stay at the Whitehouse. Great for family vacation! 4 adult children & their families! Plenty of room! We are already planning our trip to Vermont to the Whitehouse for next year! Would highly recommend!

This property was PERFECT for our group of 8 adults and two little ones (1 and 3). The downstairs bunk rooms, playroom and bathroom worked perfectly for the kids and their parents. The 3 year old said several times "I love this house." The rest of us had very large and nicely appointed bedrooms with en suite baths. Plenty of paper products and bath products were provided. The kitchen was AMAZING and very well stocked with everything we needed. Loved having coffee out on the covered porch in the morning. We used the fire pit one evening, which was really fun. The kids had lots of outdoor space to explore and really loved the swing in the back of the house. The entire house was very well appointed and VERY clean. We are looking forward to having the chance to come back here again in the future. Thank you to Alex for a beautiful property.

The home is exactly as described. Enough dishes, utensils, pans etc. The only thing it needed was additional dish towels. We only had one for the whole weekend.

We enjoyed the Brook House very much. We loved having 4 master bedrooms & baths. The 2 bunk rooms were wonderful for the kids. The location and property were great. Our family of 8 adults & 2 kids had plenty of space. We enjoyed that the owner provided a nice bag of Breakfast Blend ground coffee for the coffee maker! Our family is talking about coming again next summer with one more family and 2 more grandkids! Thank you to Alex!

We enjoyed our stay at this comfortable, clean, and spacious home. The beds were very cozy, bedding and towels were great quality and soft. The kitchen, living room and den were wide open and great for our large family to prepare dinners and relax together. The kitchen has enough plates, glasses, silverware and sharp knives (something we all noticed! haha) for a big group. Loved the front porch to have coffee in the morning or unwind in the evening. The house has a lot of outdoor privacy along with offering a lot of activities nearby (listening and walking in the stream out back was a family favorite spot). The property manager Claudia was very attentive while at the same time giving us our privacy. She is awesome! We loved our time in Vermont and hope to return for a future vacation!

The house was very clean and well equipped. The host was very responsive and helpful. Grocery store, restaurants and activities are in good proximity. I would definitely recommend this house to others.

We had a lovely time at the property. The house and yards were well maintained. Perfect New England location, covered bridge entrance to the community, hills and a nice house with ample yards to relax outside. The host and property manager were super responsive to questions and queries.

Summer Getaway
My family and I had a beautiful stay at this home for our summer getaway. Walking into the house we were in awe of how everything down to the furniture was incorporated into the nature surrounding the home. The pictures don’t do justice to how nice this home was kept up with. An amazing view of the mountains was just outside the window. There were plenty of bedrooms for couples as well as bunk beds for the kids. On one of the rainy days there the kids stayed occupied in the spacious playroom. The kids loved running around in the yard and walking down along the stream in the back. About 10 minutes away from the house was a beautiful lake to swim/jet ski. Not to mention stores & coffee shops all within a 10 minute drive as well. The host & house keeper were very attentive and had great communication. I absolutely recommend this home for any time of the year especially for a big family trip.

Very nice property
The grounds and house are very nice and well kept. We had a couple of minor issues with the well alarm and a broken faucet. However, the property manager responded immediately and took care of it. The owner (Alex) even called me to ensure I was satisfied with the results. I would definitely recommend this property to future renters.

Amazing!
After more than a year of not seeing close friends we met at this home to reunite for the first time since the start of the pandemic. We had a wonderful time and this home comfortably slept 6 adults and 5 kids. The kids are already begging for a return to the same location next year. Can’t thank Alex and the team enough. We loved our stay!

Beautiful spot/Some issues
Before arrival, we changed our minds and decided to bring our kids. At that point, 2 days before arrival, we were informed of an “extra guest fee” for any guests over 10 people. This was not explained in ANY of the paperwork I received. When I voiced my concerns, they are not dealt with kindly or appropriately. While that wasn’t the best way to start a trip, we arrived with an open mind. The house is in a beautiful location but there were some issues. It was not ready and cleaned when we arrived. It was ready 3 hours late. Garbage from the previous guests was left in bags on the floor of the garage rather than in bins. When I asked about the garbage, I was told pick up in Vermont is once a week. I’m not sure this is a reason to not have enough garbage bins. All in all, my group had a great time, but I would hope that future groups are made more aware of the costs and quirks of renting this property.

getaway with friends
We had an awesome time at this place. The location is great for spending time with friends and worked great for a group of 16, with 3 dogs. Lots of space to play and run around, with a lake and trails nearby. The evenings were beautiful and the nights were so serene sitting by the fire.
Overall the house is very spacious, but the caretakers have overlooked a few things. There were not enough towels for all of us and toiletries were lacking in some bathrooms. There was lots of firewood but not a lighter nor matches, so we ended up buying a lighter. The bedrooms had lamps with no bulbs in them, and the most confusing of all were the window A/C 's in the bathrooms...and not the bedrooms?
The kitchen was well stocked but we had issues with the sink disposal. Contacted customer service, who put us in touch with the owners, who were very helpful and gave us suggestions about spots around the property, which were great. we had a great time at mirror lake which Alex suggested and was just 5 minutes away.
Overall, we would def. go back as the place is great, lots of things close by. We had a great time!!!

Lovely Summer Stay
Our group of nine had a great four days at Brook House! The house was very clean with spacious bedrooms, bathrooms, and a fully stocked kitchen. We took full advantage of the beautiful grounds that surround the house with dinners outside on the picnic tables, great hikes, and some s'mores by the fire pit. A lovely time overall. Highly recommended for a Summer weekend!

I booked this stay for a weekend retreat with co-workers. It's a beautiful property with great outside and inside amenities (large field, tv room, modern cooking appliances, and a hot tub). The location also allows for easy access to hiking, walking trails, and other of Vermont's finest. The host was very responsive and answered all our questions. We definitely recommend a stay!

Another Wonderful Labor Day Weekend
This is the second year in a row we have stayed here and are about to book our third year. With 4 wonderful bedrooms for the adults and a generous basement play space for the kids, this is the perfect location for a 4 family getaway.
The location is fantastic and we find ourselves taking a short drive into Wilmington to enjoy the shops and restaurants when we aren't enjoying the house and surrounding property.
Highly Recommended!

Great summer stay in West Dover, Vermont
This was a great house for a family-friendly gathering of friends. 1 family, 4 sets of couples and 2 single guys, all 4 sets of couples used the 4 individual bedrooms that each had their own bathrooms. The 2 single guys slept in the room with 2 bunk beds and the family stayed in the room with the other 2 bunk beds but had full beds as the bottom bunk. Living was a great meeting point at the end of the nights as you can see the kitchen, dining room table and living room tv. Hot tub was a nice perk as well as firepit and grill both gas and charcoal. We went to the lake which was 20 minutes away to cool off but I can definitely see this house being used more so in the winter. If the house had central A/C or ceiling fans in the living room it would have been perfect as it got very hot, very fast inside. But the perks outweighed the drawbacks. Kitchen was amazing with all the tools necessary to make anything you want. Owners were very accessible at any time throughout the stay. If we have the opportunity will rent again in the winter!

Overall, a great house!
The house is amazing, as advertised - the bedrooms are all really nice with beautiful bathrooms, the downstairs bedrooms are really spacious and the play area downstairs is also large. The furnishing and appliances all seem modern and new, especially in the kitchen. We really enjoyed the fire pit outside. The location is beautiful. We were 8 adults and 7 kids, and we all fit comfortably in the house, although the main living space was perhaps on the smaller size for our group. And the owners were really nice and helpful throughout.
Just a few downsides - the house gets really hot in the summer, and only three of the master bedrooms have air conditioning, with no air conditioning in the main room either. The basement stayed cool, however. Outside it was really buggy with mosquitoes and deer flies, so bring bug repellent or whatever repels the deer flies. Also, it seems that the horses are gone.

Amazing renal for 4 families!
We have been trying for years to find the perfect rental for our annual four family getaway. This year, we found it. The four master bedrooms meant no couple had to suffer the sub-par bedroom this year. That combined with an amazing finished basement that allowed the kids to play while the parents relaxed upstairs made for the perfect weekend. The basement also sleeps up to 8 kids across 4 bunk beds which provides room for us to grow.
As for the location we couldn't be more pleased. The horses out the window were a lovely addition while the hiking trails and creak on the property gave us ample opportunity to wander and explore. We had so much fun hanging out around the campfire each night that we didn't even find time to enjoy the back deck hot tub.
This rental has it all; highly recommended.
