About this cottage rental
Beautifully cared for two-story house with many windows and a large deck where you can relax and enjoy looking out at the ocean and up the beach to Point of Breakers. A short 200 foot walk through the moors gets you to the top of the stairs that lead down to your own virtually private stretch of beach. This beach offers good swimming and, if you bring your rod, a good sized fish can be caught anywhere along this stretch.
There is a large veranda in front of the cottage with lots of seating and a freestanding hammock. It's a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and soak in the view.
The main house has two bedrooms upstairs with a shared full bathroom. One of the bedrooms has two twin beds and the other one has a queen. Both upstairs bedrooms have beautiful views of the ocean and you will fall asleep to the sound of the waves. The main floor has a full kitchen, a dining area with an old wooden dining table and a bright, sunny living room with casual, comfortable seating. There is also a large bedroom with two twin beds and a half bathroom on the main floor. A private outdoor shower is provided on the back deck and is a favorite on warm days and after a swim.
Just across the driveway is a quaint one-bedroom cottage with a queen size bed, its own half bath and an outdoor shower. This is a great place if you want a bit more privacy. It also has a deck with a view of the ocean and its own covered front porch, great for reading and relaxing out of the sun. The whole property offers peace and quiet away from the crowds in town.
The beach just in front of the house is beautiful and stretches off in both directions for as far as you can see. After storms, large combers roll in and crash on the beach, but when we get a period of calm, the ocean can be quite flat with hardly a wave. Most times the waves are just right for body surfing.
Downtown Nantucket is about a 15 minute drive and the market is a little closer.
The cottage is available for a minimum stay of one week, with turnover days on Sundays, and the guest cabin cannot be rented separately.

We had a mixed group of friends & family with a 2 year-old toddler. House had a comfortable & non-fussy layout. All had ample space inside & outside. We appreciated the games/toys in the garage. Location is a bit remote but that’s a nice change of pace from the main town (which is what we wanted). Truly enjoyed the beach! We rented bikes from town & had no problem riding on the dirt road to the house. Very quiet nights and you can hear the ocean from every bedroom. We brought our own travel projector to stream movies at night. Good wifi. Kitchen well stocked for cooking. Owner was very responsive & helpful. We all enjoyed the stay!

We have been vacationing on Nantucket for 10+ years, we typically have moved around the island in rentals for different reasons. We have stayed in town, Polpis, Sankaty head – mid Island. I personally like to be away from the hustle and bustle of town. My son, and I like to fish and my wife and daughters like to sit on the beach and read, this year we decided to look at renting in Madaquecham. Ocean ready not only was the perfect rental for us, but it was the most fulfilling and peaceful vacation that we have ever had on Nantucket. It was close to Sconset. It was just steps away from the beach and the perfect fishing spot. It was a quick ride into town to the Stop & Shop or to grab some bait at Nantucket tackle. It was very convenient to ride into town and see a comedy show or concert. Five minutes from our favorite eatery for breakfast or dinner. Patricia was friendly and accommodating. Her home was clean and comfortable. At first, I was concerned about no air conditioning, but within minutes of being in the house with the windows open I understood why you don’t need air-conditioning on the beach. My oldest daughter, who is married with a six year old found grandmas house to be the perfect refuge, for her husband and daughter. We would definitely vacation again at Ocean ready. Thank you Patricia!

Great family oriented property located steps from private beach. Charming and rustic, but has all the essentials. Very responsive & attentive owner and property manager. We’ll be back again next year!

Quintessential Nantucket experience. The beach is amazing and there is hardly anyone else on it for about a mile radius. Very private and enjoyable. The house has everything you need and the cottage is a great perk for grandparents to visit. Hope to stay here again!

Our wonderful stay on Nantucket
Ocean Ready is a wonderful property on Nantucket. The owner is very responsive and always answered quickly. We absolutely loved the private beach and seclusion of the area from the more touristy parts of the island. Although the road to get to the house needs frequent grading or the ruts are terrible and the property is very close to the airport, that was quickly overshadowed by the awesome private beach which included daily seal sightings. The extra granny cabin also made for a nice little getaway for my daughter and son in law each night. Despite the proximity to the airport the area around the house is quiet and peaceful. Overall we absolutely loved our stay and would gladly stay there again in the future if we come to Nantucket again.

Perfect
This is our second time back with our family and we truly enjoy staying here. The location, the home, the communication, it's all top notch. Our four small kiddos always have something to do while my mother appreciates the quiet and privacy the guest cottage offers. We can't wait for more summers here. Thanks so much, Pat! :)

Family Vacation w/ kids
We absolutely loved this place. We have a 2.5 year old and an 8 month old. All of us were very comfortable within the house. My in-laws stayed for a few night in the cabin, loved it!
We had everything we needed at the house to make meals across the week. There was nothing we could think of that was needed. We had everything from pasta night to burgers on the grill..
I highly recommend this stay. The houses were spread pretty far apart, which is very night. We got lucky with having no neighbors in sight during the week, felt like we were on our own beach.
We would stay here again.

Always Ready for Ocean Ready
This is our second time staying here (please see my earlier, glowing review). The property is situated on our favorite part of the island with breathtaking views of the Atlantic. The home is quintessential Nantucket comfort and is very open and user-friendly. It makes for easy living with lots of privacy and additional space on the large deck. The guest house is a wonderful retreat within your retreat or is perfect if you travel with anyone who would like their own quarters or sleeps on a different schedule.
A very magical place to my family.

10 Days of Pure Bliss
If you are looking to escape but still wish to be close enough to the convenience of downtown Nantucket, this is your place.
With sweeping views of the Ocean— from nearly every spot in the house— and the sound of the surf, this house was perfect for our family.
The added Guest House was a real bonus, if you travel with friends or if your housemates are on different schedules.
Both houses were very clean and had the convenience of extra linens for easy departure. The laundry room was nicely out of view and had room to organize.
The kitchen was stocked with the essentials and easy to use.
The showers are nice and hot!
Town is just a short drive or a nice bike ride away for dining out or picking up takeout. There are also a few places to grab coffee and burgers that are a bit closer.
You don't need a reason to leave the property—the sunrise and sunsets are beautiful and the night sky is gorgeous.
But, if your adventurous, my husband biked all over the Island.
We love this stretch of beach in particular, and the privacy it offers.
Patricia was extremely courteous and had excellent communication. Everything she said was accurate and she responded quickly. When we asked to extend our stay, she went out of her way to make it happen.
It was hard to leave and I look forward to our next stay, already! ~ Karen Anderer

Magic on the Moors
Our week at Ocean Ready was just what we were looking for. A casual, comfortable and open cottage, on the water, away from it all. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, naps in the hammock, private ocean beach, deck dinners, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and an adorable cabin are just a few of the features that contributed to a magical week in Madequecham.
To note: 4 wheel drive car pretty important for dirt road access.

Nantucket's hidden treasure!
This cottage by the sea is an absolute gem. It is old school nantucket, cozy and beautiful. It is a no frills place, but everything you need is here - well stocked. The views and sounds of the ocean feed your soul. No a/c needed with windows and doors open (August stay). Thoughtful owners made us feel so welcome. A cocktail on the bench in the evenings is a must. The ocean was wild with waves one day and calm as a lake the next. Cool and refreshing. You are away from the bustle of town out here and basically have your own private beach. Still close enough to everything since the island is only 14 miles long. Little bunnies come out of the moors morning and evening. We love it here and hope to return post-pandemic. Thank you for sharing this family treasure with strangers!

I have rented the cottage for the past five years, counting the months between each return visit. The cottage is clean, comfortable and very well equipped, with everything you need for outdoors - including bbq, beach chairs and towels, and for indoors - including enough dishes to serve a large group and a wide array of cooking utensils, serving dishes etc. A wide range of books and games mean you will never run short of activities. There is a little cabin for additional guests or guests who would prefer a bit of distance! The views of the ocean are beautiful, and the sunsets are some of the most perfect you will ever see. The bench at the top of the stairs leading to the beach provides the perfect place to sit and stare at the ocean, contributing to the incredible sense of peace and serenity I feel when I am there. Whether you want to frolic in the ocean with your family, cycle around the island or lie motionless on the beach, this is the perfect base for you. The island is gorgeous, with great beaches (including the fabulous, quiet beach at the house), restaurants, shops. The owners are helpful and keen that others enjoy the island as much as they do. The road into the cottage can be bumpy, but is very manageable.

Simply spectacular
This review has been a long time coming, as I held off for years in the hope that no one else would discover this place. That said.. it is time to share.
This house is perfect for families/friends looking for a "classic" Nantucket experience. Its clean, cozy but spacious and has everything I could hope for. The kitchen is well stocked and a great space for big family meals, spilling out into a family room/dining room surrounded by windows. The wrap-around deck is perfect for sunset drinks, barbecuing or watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee. The upstairs bedrooms are both comfortable and quiet- there is nothing better than listening to the sound of the waves crashing at night.
The cottage across the driveway is incredibly cute and a great place for parents or grandparents to stay away from all the action. The outdoor shower in back of the cabin is the best place to wash off after a long day at the beach (there is one at the main house as well).
Then there is the beach... Right off the porch steps through the path, you come to your private set of stairs. In my opinion, this is the best beach on the island. Most days, you won't see another soul. Great for bodysurfing, surfcasting, etc.
Lastly, the owners are EXTREMELY helpful & responsive. You can tell that this place is special to them.
In summary, for anyone looking for the quintessential Nantucket escape, you cannot do any better. Yes, the road to the house is bumpy (SUV recommended), but that's part of the charm. For those that are looking for granite countertops, air conditioning and high definition televisions... you will be better off staying at the White Elephant. But for those who want to truly experience the beauty and serenity of Nantucket, this is the place. I can only hope to continue to share it with my family and friends for years to come.
