Convenient location, clean house
The house was exactly what we were looking for: 3 bedrooms with one on the main floor for grandma; 2 bathrooms (one on each floor); a well-equipped and clean kitchen; and laundry equipment. The outdoor space was wonderful: spacious with flowering bushes and quiet. It was steps away from an Intermarché and other businesses (pharmacy, bike rentals, decathlon), while being on a quiet street. Will rent it again if we come back to this area.

Ruimte in overvloed dus.

Another Happy holiday in St Martin
We have recently returned from our 4th stay (and 2nd this year) at this charming house.
Our first stay this year was in June with our family of 6 adults and our toddler granddaughter. As usual the house was spotlessly clean on arrival and Mme Beaudoin provided a cot, high chair and other “extras” for the baby. The house is very well suited to our needs with plenty of space for everyone and we had a lovely week cycling around the island as a family.
At the beginning of September we returned with friends, we had all stayed at the house last year so were pleased to be back there and once again had a very happy week cycling.
We arrived at La Rochelle by air, Mme Beaudoin was as flexible as possible on check in/out times to accommodate our flights and she was very helpful throughout our stay.
We look forward to returning to this excellent house in St Martin next year.

The property is a spacious house with three double bedrooms and a loft space with a single bed. It has a full bathroom with shower and a separate shower and toilet on the ground floor. It is light and pleasant and well equipped. It has a back garden with flowering bushes where you can eat outside and there is a handy awning in case of very hot weather. There is a washing machine and drier and dishwasher which were all used by us.
We were two adults and four young adults in the house and two friends staying nearby in their camper van joined us for meals. There was plenty of space for everyone.
The location on the edge of the village of St Martin is very handy. There is a large supermarket literally next door and a bike hire office five minutes away. There is a lovely sandy beach five minutes by bike and ten minutes on foot from the house. It is a good location for exploring the island by bike though as not so young adults we found that cycling as far as Ars en Re was about as much as we could manage!
It is worth noting that linen is not included in the rental price. We did not notice this originally but when we queried it with the owner, were told that it is not usual for French holiday lettings to include linen. In fact checking on the site afterwards we found quite a few which did include linen. We only hired linen for two of the double rooms (one set of sheets, one towel per person for a fortnight) and the cost was 60 euros. Also the cleaning cost of 60 euros seemed a little high to us but then we do not know rates in France for house cleaning.
A further point is that there is currently a building site at the back of the property which had not been mentioned to us. There were men at work and machinery operating Monday to Friday during our stay. Although there was little noise with the windows closed, when we sat
outside it was not particularly pleasant . Since we were mostly out during the day it was not a huge problem but the sight of a crane over the back wall was a little intrusive!
These points did not mar our feeling that this is a good holiday rental particularly for families with smaller children. The owner speaks fluent English and she was very helpful. Particularly appreciated was that she purchased an electric fan for our use on a very hot day when one of our party was ill and needed to remain indoors.

We have just returned from our 2nd stay at this pretty house in St Martin. It is very clean, comfortable and well equipped and is perfect for our group of 5 adults.Mme Beaudoin, the owner speaks excellent English and was very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay.We took a flight from UK to La Rochelle and hired bikes on arrival at St Martin. Cycling is the perfect way to get around as most of the island is covered by cycle routes.
The house is about 15 minutes walk from the town centre and harbour area ( much quicker by bike!) About 2 minutes walk from the house is a large Intermarche supermarket which caters for every need.
We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in 2017.

A great house situated in a quiet area about a mile from the centre of St Martin de Re. A group of us (6 people – 3 couples) stayed here in early October 2013 for 3 nights. One of the reasons we chose it was because it had 3 separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, including stand up shower facilities. A lot of houses in Il-de-Re that sleep 6 only have one bathroom and often no shower facilities. Indeed the house would also accommodate a couple of children in an upstairs sleeping area that we did not use. The house is well kitted out and has all the amenities you would need eg, fridge, washing machine, TV, wi-fi, cooker, BBQ, outside tables and chairs for the patio area. There was plenty of hot water for showers for everyone in our party. The owner is very easy to deal with and speaks excellent English. It’s about a 30 minute walk to the port area in the centre of St Martin-de-Re and there is a good pathway the whole way there. This is good because if you come back from the town in the dark it is safe compared to walking along a road. There is a very short stretch of road (about 50 yards) as you near the house that has no street lighting but as I say it is in a very quiet area so no traffic about. If coming back to Il-de-Re I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others. The house is also very reasonably priced and you can book it for 2 or 3 nights during off peak times, whereas a lot of other houses require a minimum stay of one week. Tres bon!

We have spent two wonderful summers (2012 and 2013) in this house. It is a really nice clean, modern and comfortable house. It is in an excellent location. A few minutes walk to Saint Martin and the beach. The supermarket is just around the corner. You don't really need a car, just bikes, which are very cheap to rent. It is very private and quiet, It is a family house, ideal to relax in. It has a nice garden where you can dine. The owners are very nice people to deal with, very helpful and friendly.
It felt like a real beach/holiday house and we loved it. So much so, that we spent two summers there and will go back again.
