The location, the staff and the premises.
As this is an old building, we could hear the guests that what staying in the room right above ours, which was unpleasant during the night. Even though we left the door marker asking for the room to made after a couple of nights, it was not cleaned and no one provided any reason therefore. The room felt overpriced for low season.

Great location, just a couple streets away from one of the most picturesque parts of porto. Hotel has been recently developed and all fittings have been done to a high level.
No complaints

Location. New hotel. Clean.
The room is a bit too much basic for a 4 stars hotel

I had a delightful stay at this hotel - at first glance, it appeared unassuming from the outside, but once inside, I was pleasantly surprised by its impressive interior. The historic building and its annex, along with a charming garden, added to the overall appeal. My room was spacious, and the bathroom was a standout feature - I've never had such a large bathroom in a hotel! The room was equipped with everything you need, including a coffee maker and hair dryer. The staff was friendly and accommodating. When I requested an iron and ironing board, they promptly brought it to my room.
From start to finish, there were no real inconveniences - this hotel really exceeded my expectations. I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Porto.

it’s got really great decor and the staff were absolutely wonderful. my room was clean and comfy. I would suggest a room not facing the street if possible. I got this room same day so I understand

We have stayed at the Caleway four times and this stay was as good as the first. We have a puppy now and we requested the ground floor for easy access outdoors, which they provided. When we arrived, there was a little dog bed, water and food bowl, which was very sweet. The room was clean and comfortable, as usual.
My mom came to Portugal to visit us and she was staying in a second room we had reserved. As this was her first visit, they honored my request of an upgrade and she stayed in the beautiful historic section with a great view of Porto and the Ponte Luis I bridge. She loved her room and slept like a baby.
The breakfast was delicious, as usual.
My husband and I prefer to stay on the Gaia side when we come to Porto, as it has a more relaxed vibe and a great views of the city.
Nothing we didn't like.
The only recommendation I would have is for the rooms on the ground floor to have direct access to the garden. It would be nice to walk out of your room into the courtyard vs. walking through the hotel.
Just a suggestion, nothing that would ever keep us from staying again!

Great design, friendly and helpful staff. Clean and very well presented.

This beautiful hotel exceeded our expectations, it was beautiful, exactly as shown in the photos and in fact the only anomaly was that the room was even bigger than it seemed in the photos. Spotlessly clean, the comfiest of beds (the only comfy hotel bed I've found in several years of travelling), super quiet and fabulous location in among the wineries on the Gaia side of the river. Walk was just a couple of minutes either to the bridge or to the water bus across the Douro to the Porto side, and we were so glad we stayed this side. The Ribeira waterfront directly opposite is a crowded, tacky, noisy tourist trap and we could not see the attraction to staying there which most websites suggest.
We walked everywhere from the Caleway, and a pleasant 10 min stroll takes you right up into the centre of Porto.
The staff were charming and helpful, value for money c/w other hotels was excellent, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
We stayed in one of the suites on the top floor, which had two sets of french doors to a wraparound balcony with views over the wineries, river and across to Gaia. Absolutely stunning.
We didn't book breakfast, but the honesty bar was a nice addition!
The only thing which was very slightly lacking was the quality of bathroom amenities. These were just a generic brand, which was a shame as there are such beautiful toiletry brands based in and around Porto which many of the other hotels provide.

The hotel design is beautiful! A Mesh between old and new. The room was big, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was rich with options. the hotel is near the river from the Gaya side and you must cross the bridge.
No parking nearby.

Unfortunately missed breakfast due to timing of departure but was offered a packed bag (did not take up the offer). Location was splendid, the interior was a pleasant surprise and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and modern and really great value for money.
Uber driver struggled to find the hotel. If possible, exterior signage could be slightly more prominent.

We had a great stay.. Staff were very pleasant from the moment we arrived. Would highly recommend this boutique hotel. Very charming. Am planning to return in the summer months and enjoy the little garden and having breakfast outdoors in courtyard. Rooms were very comfortable and bathrooms clean and stylish.
Nothing of note.

Staff was very helpful and accomodation.
Location was very good
Didn't like anything apart from the staff.
We booked a suite and if where we stayed was a suite I wonder what are normal rooms like.
Was expecting a good set of toiletries but I was very disappointed . They give you a small paper pouch kind of thing filled with toothpaste which falls everywhere but on toothbrush ....need to aim well..lol
Super small bottles of conditioner.

It was very new and clean.
For being a 4 * hotel, many things to improve. Breakfast was low quality (jam from a package, bread from a bag, cheap cheese and encinados; few amenities, nothing make it special nor to spend time there. The bathroom got all wet. Small towells. The door entrance was almost unnoticeable.

We enjoy the location of this hotel, very walkable, but away from the crowds along the river. The staff is always so kind and helpful. The last time we stayed here, we had a room overlooking the city and it was very quaint and comfortable. This time we were on the modern side, which is a little sterile and less comfortable. The little patio overlooking the garden area is very nice.
The breakfast was good, but when you are staying for more than one day, it would be nice to have a different style/type of egg.

Excellent location 100 metres from the river, good choice of cafes and restaurants close by, first class 4* boutique hotel spotlessly maintained and architecturally pleasing on the eye, good choice of breakfast and "honesty" bar with good selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Hotel staff very attentive and helpful.
Some moderate corridor noise outside our hotel bedroom during the early hours of the morning on one night.

Very nice hotel, in an old building. The room was big and comfortable. Very kind and nice staff. Worth for a staying at Gaia.
A bit difficult to find having a narrow entrance.
