About this bed and breakfast
Escape to tranquility in this light-filled, newly remodeled one-bedroom guesthouse apartment on a grand old half-acre Spanish estate. Centrally located in Pasadena with easy freeway access, enter another world as you step under the estate’s redwood, palm, and magnolia trees. Take the stairs to the apartment under a hundred-year-old olive tree. Enjoy the view from the sundeck, and dream away some hours on a hammock in the bamboo grove next to a fish pond, while listening to birds sing.
The 412 square foot apartment is in its own building, separate from the estate’s main house. It is up one flight of stairs on the top floor of a two storey building. A hundred-year-old olive tree provides shade and privacy and just steps from your door, you will have your own little bamboo mini-forest nook to yourself.
The living room extends out to a spacious sundeck with a view of the San Gabriel mountains. There is a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and sink. There is hi-speed wifi and a TV with over a dozen Spectrum TV channels including major networks, sports, kids, and audio music stations. The Roku stick also offers the additional option to stream your own Netflix, Hulu, Sling, or other subscriptions. A hairdryer, iron, and ironing board are provided, as well as basic toiletries. Laundry facilities are available upon request.
Please note: we have a strict NO SMOKING rule.
The apartment has one bedroom with a small attached bathroom with a walk-in shower. The bed has a brand new Serta plush queen size mattress to accommodate up to two guests. The living room sofa pulls out into a queen-sized bed that can accommodate two guests.
*We are located within walking distance of the end of the route for the famed Pasadena Rose Parade as well as the post-parade float viewing. The Rose Parade is held every January 1st (unless January 1st falls on a Sunday, in which case, the parade is on Monday, January 2nd). The float viewing is held immediately after the parade ends and into the following day.
We do provide off-street parking in our driveway to guests. The parking area is on our property, outside of our gates. Please note that it is a fairly narrow driveway suitable for average-sized cars but a tight squeeze for larger than average vehicles such as oversized trucks.
* We have a very friendly basset hound on the premises who loves to interact with guests.
While guests are welcome to explore the west side of the estate which has a forest-like setting with a secluded bamboo grove, a fish pond, and many trees and plants, the east side of the estate is reserved for host's personal use. However, should guests need anything, host is easily reachable by text or phone call.
Guests with young children should be aware that the 2-ft deep fish pond is not fenced. Additionally, host’s personal side of the estate includes an ungated pool.

The apartment is the perfect place to stay. It is cozy and comfortable. The deck with the view of the mountains is lovely & peaceful. It was nice to make dinner when I wanted and have room to have a few guests over for dinner.

Very nice garage apartment with a European touch on a really nice Spanish Mission style residential property. Very local feel and in a quiet safe neighborhood. Complete with balcony w/ mountain View, wifi, tv, kitchenette, fold out couch and nice queen sized bedroom.
Came with a bowl of welcome pastries and a platter full of homemade fruit jams in the fridge.
Barely saw or heard our hosts. But they were very responsive when we had a question.

I was in town for work and this was the perfect space for me! It was extremely comfortable and my only regret is that I didn't have a chance to use the back patio more since I was out all day. the leave what you don't use policy for the kitchen is amazing, because it meant that I had spices to use and oatmeal for breakfast. the pastries that were there to welcome me on arrival were also phenomenal! The only complaint I have is that Malabar didn't hang out with me enough! She's perfect!

A very peaceful place to stay. A small kitchen with everything you need to cook. A wonderful deck with morning sun. Coffee and pastries provided. The entire place impeccably clean. Friendly hosts and Bassett hound.
This is the best place we have stayed.

This guesthouse was so beautiful and perfect for our little family. The environment was beautiful and peaceful. Our son loved the garden and is now obsessed with having his own pond. The sweet little puppy also brightened our day! The house had everything we needed and the jams were so tasty! The next time we’re back, this will be the place we will book!

This place was everything we hoped it would be and more. The property is lovely. There were beautiful French pastries waiting for us to enjoy and what a treat they were for breakfast the next morning with the homemade jams. Ailin and Hervé are so warm and friendly. Their dog, Mala, made our stay extra special because she would come visit us whenever we were there. What a wonderful experience.

Lovely property with lush garden. The unit was clean and had everything we needed. Great attention to detail. The hosts provided very useful info about local restaurants and sights, along with a gift of pastries and wonderful homemade jam. Peaceful, quiet and comfortable. We would certainly stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at this lovey E. Orange Grove guest house for three nights. It was a wonderful location, quiet and in a beautiful garden setting. We loved the patio area just off the kitchen. Ailin was a wonderful host. Our son lives in the area and there was enough room to entertain him in the living area and patio. We will absolutely stay here again and give the whole experience a big thumbs up. I forgot to mention Ailin's adorable basset hound that roamed the property! All in all, a fantastic stay!

We really enjoyed the property. Only concern was the lack of kitchen counter space and smallness of the coffee pot.

When you first step on the property, you know you are on vacation and can relax. The outdoor areas are so peaceful, with places where you can sit and relax, fruit trees, plants everywhere and even a koi pond. The apartment was very charming - no details were forgotten. My nephew loves to cook, and there were adequate pots, dishware and cooking utensils. There was also a nice selection of spices available to use. The bed and futon were extremely comfortable, and all linens supplied were clean and soft.
The outdoor patio was another nice touch - unfortunately the weather was not as quite as warm as we wanted, or we would have used that area much more.
There is adequate parking both on and off the premises, and the location is close to many different activities, and freeways/highways to get you anywhere.
The only negative that I can think of is that we never did get to meet the dog on site! He looked absolutely adorable!

We enjoyed our stay here!…pastries for the morning, tons of fluffy towels and a fully stocked kitchen (and frig). The hosts were very attentive to the minor needs and questions we had. Though near the main house this separate unit felt very private.

My husband and I stayed here because it was only 10 minutes away from our wedding venue (we live 40 minutes away) and thought it would be easier for our wedding weekend. The host could not have been nicer and just so chill and easygoing. I was very stressed and accidentally left the guesthouse keys at our venue overnight and locked myself out, but he was very nice about letting me in and making sure I find it (we did). Thank you so much for having a great attitude, a wonderful home, and a cute dog!

Had some tech problems with power but hosts were right there to correct. Off street parking. Will def stay again. Thanks you, Ai-Lin and Herve.

We rented the guest house for a family trip to see our daughter march in the Rose Bowl parade. My husband, myself and our teenage son stayed here for six days. The location is wonderful, close to many of the area’s attractions and restaurants. It took less than an hour to arrive from LAX. The check-in instructions are very detailed. It is very secure with a locked gate and the on site parking was greatly appreciated. I enjoyed the garden and pond area and the time we got to spend with Mala, the basset hound. Thank you Ailin!

Fantastique!
It was a great pleasure staying at L’Orangerie. The apartment was charming and comfortable and we especially loved the private deck with flowers, table with umbrella and chairs and view of mountains in the distance was superb. The owners couldn’t have been more delightful and helpful. Their gardens were beautiful, including a fish pond. Also the property is gated and very safe.

This is a wonderful, tranquil place to stay. The owner is very responsive to any questions. It is very clean and we love having our coffee on the beautiful deck. We definitely will stay again.

Little treehouse in a great location!
Thoroughly enjoyed our few days at "L'Orangerie". The guesthouse was perfect for two, upstairs with view of trees and mountains. Loved breakfast and dinner on the terrace - cool and shady, even on hot days. Compact little abode, yet it has everything you need for a delightful getaway in Pasadena. Great location - easy to get to the Huntington Library and Gardens, Norton Simon Museum, Descanso Gardens and Old Pasadena restaurants.
Ailin and Herve' were terrific hosts - great communications, and very personable without being intrusive. We will definitely return !

Our “Treetop Bungalow” Never Disappoints
We look forward each Spring to this lovely one-bedroom apartment above the garage in a secluded spot off Orange Grove Boulevard.
It provides a clean space of everything we need.
We especially love the terrace deck, surrounded by bougainvillea, trees, birds and mountains.
So endearing to return to the dining room table with a big bowl filled with fresh croissants and home-made orange blossom marmalade from the fridge. Small European bathroom, comfy bed, and the garden entrance is delightful.

Great setting, great location
Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay to visit Descanso Gardens and Old Town Pasadena. The apartment is in a beautiful, peaceful setting and is close to attractions, stores, and restaurants. The check-in/out instructions were the most detailed and user-friendly of any we have encountered at VRBO. We also appreciated the very helpful guides on attractions/shopping/dining in the vicinity. The hosts were very gracious and afforded us complete privacy. We would definitely return.

A slice of Pasadena Paradise
For my husband and me, this was an idyllic VRBO experience. The outdoor environment is picturesque and well maintained. There are designated areas for guests and owners so privacy is provided. The owners were very responsive if we had a question; as well, they are pleasant and easy going. The neighborhood is lovely and safe. We enjoyed walks in and around the neighborhood. Highly recommend this VRBO.

Ailin and Herve are gems!
What an enjoyable and relaxing experience! Probably one of the best experiences I’ve had. They’re literally treating you as house guests with a cozy space perfect for couples and small families. Malabar is absolutely a doll! Also, the thought and care that went into the documentation — making sure there are no stones left unturned in acquainting guests with all of the amenities — is very much appreciated! They make sure that you’re taken care of. They truly possess a passion of taking care of their guests and making sure they’re comfortable and even if they do not use a phone, all of the POIs are thoughtfully curated by those that love and know the greater LA metro area. Y out can your own excursions like a true Californian, rather than a tourist. Thank you so much Ailin and Herve! We will come back to your place for sure!

Stay in LA
We had an exceptional experience staying at the property! Directions were clear and easy to follow, and the bonus of homemade breads and puppy Mala topped off the stay.

Lovely guesthouse on a beautiful estate. Malabar is the best.
It was secluded while still near attractions in Old Pasadena. It took less than 30 minutes to get to our show at the Hollywood Bowl. The guesthouse itself is adorable, and has everything we needed for a getaway. Not only is it well-kept and clean, the little touches of leaving pastries, homemade jam, and a history of the estate contributed to feeling very welcome. We also had access to a private deck (perfect for breakfast and tea) and the West garden (seating, hammock, greenery, trees, fish pond). We only wish we had more time to enjoy it!
The resident basset hound Malabar is such a joy. She visited us both mornings and before leaving. She just wants belly rubs and socks :)
Overall, we were very happy with our stay and can't wait to book another vacation here.

Lovely
We stayed at this property in August -- which is a beautiful (and hot!) time to visit southern California. Still, the space here allowed us peace and comfort as we moved my daughter into college in Los Angeles. The proximity to the city, as well as surrounding, more commercial areas, made for a smooth transition. Hosts, caretakers, and Malabar were all lovely and accommodating. The check-in and check-out processes was secure and we felt safe on the property. Hosts were communicative to meet our needs before the stay and everyone was welcoming. The air conditioning unit was strong and provided much relief from the aforementioned August heat, but having the windows open was a favorite, to hear all the sounds from the little garden and enjoy the breeze. Thank you so much for providing this space -- we look forward to another stay in the not-too-distant future.

Cozy cottage
We had a lovely stay at this cozy little cottage in Pasadena. The grounds are magical (so many lovely little lights in the trees!) and the cottage itself was well appointed and comfortable. We stayed during a warm spell in summer (90 degrees F) and were very grateful for the air conditioning unit. Don’t be fooled by its small size, it does an incredible job; so much so that it can be a tad bit chilly for the person sleeping on the sofa bed. The croissants were delicious (we ate far too many) and the hosts were incredibly kind. They went out of their way to make it possible for us to see our family. A great stay!

Great, but A few minor things
Charming property, grounds, nice quiet area. Easy drive to business district of Pasadena. Friendly host. We had problems with streaming services on the tv provided. I believe it is bc their roku stick overheats constantly. I would suggest they switch to a roku express as these do not overheat. Not pictured are the power lines and pole directly in your view from the deck. Not mentioned was their very cute but a bit intrusive basset hound. If you don’t let him inside he scratches and howls at your door. Trash receptacles were not very clean. It would have helped if they were placed under the sink instead of out in the open. Things that ppl see upon first entry should not be white plastic trash cans smudged with dirt. Deck furniture could be arranged where the umbrella actually blocks sun, instead of blocking view. Garage below apartment had door open the entire time exposing owner’s stored belongings - not the best impression but not really a problem for me. Otherwise it was a good stay and I would still recommend as a unique and lovely spot in Pasadena.

Visiting Family
We never actually met the owner…but self entry option was easy…the unit is very small/cozy….unfortunately it was hot so we needed to utilize the AC often. The best “room” was the outside deck for meals and morning coffee!
