Slow down in Brooksville, Maine on a road perfect for running, biking, walking with lots to do within a short drive. A wonderful place with a fantastic host.

The house was tastefully and interestingly decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed living there for 2 weeks. It felt like home. We appreciated the nice wood floors and the large kitchen that had everything we needed to cook, including good pots and pans. We loved the view from the front and liked sitting in the back garden.
The location was great, on a very quiet road. I liked walking my dog to the preserve at the end of Ferry Rd and down Wharf Rd to the stone beach. It is also convenient to the Brooksville town ramp where we moored our outboard boat and launched kayaks. It is also not very far to Blue Hill, Walker Pond or Deer isle.
The host promptly answered questions and made good suggestions for our visit.

Cute little house on a quiet street. Beautiful walking trail at the end of the road through a small forest ending up on the water. Nice kitchen that was well stocked with pans, dishes, and spices. Owner was very responsive to any questions we had. Overall, great stay!

If you like books and art, views of sparkling bays and coves, and a friendly neighborhood, this is a wonderful place to stay. Great kitchen. Comfortable living areas. Easy access to hikes and boating and good restaurants. A perfect place to read and write and disconnect.

We enjoyed this lovely cottage, nice views, pretty, comfortable rooms, well fitted kitchen. Some of the restaurants had already closed for the season, so we had to keep cooking lobsters at home! The area is rural, we drove a lot to get to all the little towns nearby, but only an hour to get to Acadia National Park. We had a wonderful meal at Brooklin Inn, and don't miss Tinder Hearth. We had the best pizza ever, eaten outside in their garden, and picked up fresh pastries twice. Check their website. We hope to come again!

Comfortable house for exploring the wild beauty of Maine's MidCoast. About equidistant between Deer Isle and Mount Desert Island, which can't go unvisited. But neither should you miss more local treasures, like Tinder Hearth down the road. Will return!

Knew the property was in the country and I liked that entire setup. At the end of Ferry Road there is access to the coast line. We found our way from Bar Harbor to Belfast and all points in between. Everything is within an hours drive. Lots of hikes, farmers markets, county fairs, wild flowers, and apples to be picked. The area is beautiful.
Recommend: (Blue Hill, Stonington, Castine, Belfast), Tender Hearth, Bagaduce Lunch - closes Labor Day, Holbrook Sanctuary, farmers market in Belfast on Saturday, Blue Hill Fair, private garden adjacent to First Baptist in Blue Hill, Bar Harbor was way too busy for our liking. Hiked Belfast Rail Trail, Hills to Sea Trail, Blue Hill Mountain Trail and several others. Roads don't really allow bikes as too narrow and winding.
Just like any place there were a few issues. Trash was left on curb for a Saturday AM pickup which didn't happen. Animals started to work their way into it before I brought it back inside on Tuesday (including clean-up). Maine is clean and I wanted to keep it that way but didn't seem like I should have to manage trash from the previous renters. Not a listing of things to do locally inside the house. We stayed busy up and down the coast on our own but very little in terms of feedback from prior renters. I saw about 10 mice during the stay. It is a county property and so was somewhat expected. They don't have an easy place to sit outside and enjoy the sunsets. We tried to make due best we could.
I did like the area well enough to want to come back to Maine in 2022. The owner, Kevin, was upfront about the mice and exterminator and did answer all of my texts very quickly.

Although not much is going on nearby, being close enough to Deer Isle, Blue Hill, Acadia, and a bunch of other small nature preserves makes this a perfect spot for a relaxing getaway! The house is clean and well stocked, and Kevin is a very responsive host. Recommended.

Lovely, relaxing, quiet home that helps you feel like you have escaped the fast pace of life. Close to Ft Knox and several hikes. Wifi was a little slow- but there were also 5 of us using it- so that is probably why. Had everything we needed.

This gem is a great summer getaway from the stresses of life. Enjoy peace and tranquility in a relaxed, spacious and comfortable setting that is full of amenities. The host is responsive and helpful.

We love staying on Ferry Road! The house is beautiful and so well stocked with everything one might need and more while on vacation. Kevin the owner was extremely responsive when we had any questions. We also enjoy d walking down Ferry Road a little ways for a remarkable view of Castine and also the Jones Point trail after where the road splits. Very much recommend the property!

Really enjoyed my time at the house. A whimsical place. All I needed was within a half-hour's drive. A lot to keep one busy in the area, if that's what is preferred. It's also just nice to be.

We couldn't have had a more relaxing month in Brooksville. Our hosts started the trip off so well. Not only did they provide many recommendations (via email as well as with marked up guides in the house) and answer any/all questions we had, but they also left freshly cut flowers in a vase on the kitchen counter. It was a small touch we really appreciated after a long day of driving. The home was exactly what we were looking for. The large kitchen was great for cooking food we picked up from the farmers market, the long table in the living room served as a great home office/card table, and the view was amazing. We loved waking up to views of the water. The area of Brooksville was quiet and peaceful. Everyone we interacted with was extremely nice and helpful. As is mentioned in the description, the yoga studio is only about a half mile away (we enjoyed going to a few classes while we were in town), Tinder Hearth is only just past the yoga studio and is the go-to spot for pizza and pastries, and in the opposite direction you can find Bagaduce Theater which puts on some great shows throughout the summer. One suggestion for future renters, facebook is surprisingly more helpful than yelp, tripadvisor or google when looking up local shops and restaurants (for instance, that is where you go to find which pizzas Tinder Hearth is serving, who the special guest vendor at the Blue Hill farmer's market that week is, and the hours for MaVa's Cafe (because one needs cupcakes!). For visitors who like the outdoors, the closest place to go kayaking (we rented a kayak from the Activity Shop) or take out your boat is within a 5-8 minute drive from the house. There are nearby hiking trails, but you can also get to Holbrook Island Sanctuary, Blue Hill Mountain, or Acadia with little trouble.Overall, we had a really wonderful trip. We are so grateful for the opportunity to spend the month in Maine with our pets. Thank you so much!
