About this house rental
There are few places where you can wake up to a symphony of bird songs, watch herons, otters, woodchucks, deer and bald eagles during the day, see fields of fireflies at dusk and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. This is one of them.
The water front summer beach cottage gives you breathtaking views of the salt pond in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Built into a hill this quaint cottage is bigger than it seems with 5 bedrooms and two living rooms. It over looks a cove that shows off spectacular sunsets from the deck as well as the inside living room or dining area. This cottage is located in a private association on a dead-end peninsula of Ninigret pond.
There is a private tennis court you can walk to and a private beach that can only be accessed by boat. The beach is on the barrier beach that faces block Island. It is the last undeveloped barrier beach on the east coast and it is just gorgeous with a handful of people for miles, even on the weekends.
Boats can be rented from the local marina. The town beach is about a 5 minute drive. The house is next to Ninigret Park which has walking trails, a wildlife refuge, basketball, tennis, soccer fields, observatory, playground and a fresh water pond. Although the town of Charlestown is a quaint and quiet town it has a thriving flea market on the weekends as well as other major events such as a seafood festival, Rhythm & Roots--check the Chamber of Commerce. There are several nice restaurants, shops, as well as art galleries.
Charlestown is about a 30 minute drive from Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casino. It is also 30-45 minutes from The Mystic Seaport and aquarium. Golf, Historic Newport and Block Island ferry.

I needed a place other than my home to work from home. Found this property which was perfect in every way. From the views to the fully stocked kitchen, I couldn't have been happier. Super dog friendly. Very close to the dog park and beaches.

Wonderful vacation! A little farther from the beach than I expected also beaches in the area fill up quick. View was fantastic! Salt pond perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. Wonderful area to ride bikes or for walking. Also, enjoyed tennis and basket ball. Sarah was very attentive and accommodating.

Something for everyone
If you like birdwatching, crab catching, cooking, playing boardgames and card games, watching sunrise, or stargazing, then this is the house for you. Above all, Perseid Meteor Shower watching on the deck of house, and then at Frosty Drew Observatory in Ninigret park (just a few minutes from the house) was unexpected but truly amazing treats for us on this trip.

Family summer vacation
We were looking for something different and we got it. First we were able to bring our fur babies and that was why we chose this property in the first place! That was amazing having them with us and I want to thank Sarah for this accommodation as it was essential to us as a family as we lost 2 pets one just weeks before our vacation, we could not leave our Fenway behind after losing his brother. The house can easily sleep 12, maybe more. They are updating the cottage and you can tell it is a work in progress, but still lovely. The salt pond and wide variety of wildlife is beautiful and entertaining. We would definitely stay again if Sarah would have us.
Thank you again Sarah.

Bliss
This was the perfect place for our family to vacation away from the insanity of the world. Everything was as described- it was beautiful, we saw egrets, blue herons, tons of other birds, and that was just from sitting at the dining table! From the dock you see crabs, fish, and other water creatures... We rented two double kayaks from Narrow River Kayaks for the week (best price we found, and they were super nice and delivered to the house the day I called). We also brought a small boat, which was great to have to go to the amazing private sandy beach. Ninigret pond is shallow with lots of seaweed so having boats and kayaks was essential. As other reviews mentioned, there is no dishwasher, but there are huge windows to look out at the beautiful scenery while washing dishes so it was not so bad. The place was spotless and the owner was super responsive to any questions we had. Also they had one of the best "about the area" books I have ever seen! We are already thinking about when we would be able to return...

Wonderful stay
Wonderful property with gorgeous views of the pond, well supplied house, close to many points of interest Including beaches, historic Newport, the Block Island ferry, lighthouses, great seafood, etc. all that you can think of when looking for a coastal New England vacation. The neighborhood is perfect for biking, paddling to a lovely and very secluded beach, crabbing off the dock. The house is well stocked with linens and kitchen items. Wonderful stay!

Peaceful stay on the water
The location of this property is everything.
The neighborhood is quiet, the house is at the end of a dead end road so it’s great for biking or walking (though, a word of caution- we saw a very large bobcat!) And then of course there is the water .... you can sit in the living room, or on the deck, and look out at the gorgeous, peaceful view! A boat or kayak is a must here, with it you can explore the salt ponds and access the beaches or sandbars. The house was stocked with plenty of linens and kitchen items. New washer and dryer were great, but the refrigerator needs updating. (Note there is no A/C or dishwasher). Ninigret park is always a favorite of ours so to be within biking distance or a 5min drive was a great perk. With 2 bedrooms upstairs and 3 in the basement, there was plenty of room for us to spread out. The bunk bedroom was very damp, so 2 of my kids didn’t end up sleeping in there. We have a toddler, and brought 2 baby gates for the stairs inside & on upper the deck. We did a Walmart grocery delivery for shortly after our arrival and grilled on the deck most nights. Our family has been visiting Charlestown for generations, and we would stay in this home again. Sarah was a pleasure to interact with leading up to our stay. Overall we had a very positive experience and would recommend staying here!

Peaceful beautiful location
The neighborhood is lovely. The view from the house is peaceful and relaxing. The house is compact, yet we all had our own space and never felt crowded. The grill was great. It was nice to have the deck in the afternoons once it was in the shade. We biked around the neighborhood, rented a boat to go around the pond, played tennis, paddled to the beach. Saw so many beautiful birds. Great stay.

Amazing location, view, plus more.
Sarah's cottage was a wonderful stay for a group of six of us. Even with six of us, we still had room for more! Mind you we were the first guests of the season, so any minor kinks were worked out accordingly. It was for sure that the house was adequately COVID cleaned before our arrival which is an obvious must right now. The beds in all of the bedrooms we stayed in were all very comfortable. The kitchen could very easily be so much better with a new refrigerator and new stove/oven. The kitchen, however, although quite small and kitchenette-esque, is stocked with absolutely EVERY single tool you could possibly need to cook and prepare food. The grill on the deck worked 100% of the time and was a huge key to our trip. Keep in mind that renting kayaks for a week is an additional expense as the kayaks do not come with the house.

Scenic and quiet location
Has the feel of a home-away-from-home. Great access to Ninigret Pond with a long dock.. Comfortable living space for 2 families vacationing together. Local roads good for easy walking, biking.

Annual family vacation
We usually stay at a beach house but due to our kayaking enjoyment we decided to give this a try. The 5 bedrooms were a hit, enough room for everyone. The kitchen was a bit small but we made it work. Everything you need for the kitchen was available :-). The house seemed clean but we did find a few "leftovers" from the previous renters. Washer and dryer with detergent was also very nice to have. Plenty of linens and pillows. We will be back.

Natural Tranquility
Blue herons, humming birds, egrets, too many birds to count, even a bald eagle across the cove every day at about 4:00. We loved it. Bring kayaks! The view is spectacular and they provided lots of little things that made the vacation easier.

Relaxing with a beautiful view
Most relaxing vacation on the pond. Everything you could ever need for cooking a wonderful meal from nice cookware to spices galore. Fully stocked linen closet with plenty of paper products. We rented a paddle board for our stay and the location was perfect to launch right there.

An absolutely beautiful vacation
We had a lovely week in this calm, comfortable cottage. We visit Rhode Island often, and this was by far our favorite place to stay. It is well-equipped, convenient to everything we like to do, and cozy. And the view is spectacular.
The host was welcoming and provided a wealth of information about the area.

Perfect vacation spot for the whole family
I had such a wonderful time staying here! I wish I could start every day sitting on the porch gazing at the beautiful view. The layout was perfect for all ages to have areas that they could be together and areas that they could escape for their own activities, which is important when the group ranged from 5 to 75 years old! I loved taking long walks in the area, and the town is just adorable. I'm definitely planning on coming back next year.

absolutely lovely.
I spent a month at this cottage. The location is secluded, the house accommodates 10 with ease. The pond is warm and perfect for paddleboarding and kayaking. The kitchen is well appointed with pans and everything needed for a gourmet cook. Cocktails and or coffee on the deck is bliss. The home was clean and in perfect condition upon arrival. The owner is responsive and attentive and very nice. I would recommend this home highly and may just go back myself.
