About this cabin rental
Thank you for selecting Yosemite Hilltop Cabins for your get-away! You will receive a pre-check-in email regarding your stay, if you can fill that out it would be much appreciated. As some details are required, other questions simply help with the housekeeping schedule.
Yosemite Hilltop Cabins are located within the gates of Yosemite National Park in the tiny community of Foresta. It is hard to believe that such a quiet and peaceful place like this exists just fifteen minutes from the sometimes bustling Yosemite Valley.
NOTE – This listing is for the Lupin Cabin. The listing and availability calendar for the Sage Cabin is also on VRBO/HomeAway under property number 815550. Both cabins are on the same property, have the same floor plan, and are furnished almost identically.
Our cabins are very private. Even though the Sage and Lupin Cabins are located next to each other they are oriented to maintain maximum privacy. Each cabin has 17-foot-tall wood beam ceilings with ceiling fans and lots of windows to take advantage of the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
Each cabin has a master bedroom with a comfy king-size bed and down comforter. There is also a foldout sofa bed that is the size of a full mattress.
The cabin has a full bath, full kitchen, and reading loft. Each cabin also has its own patio with a high quality Weber gas barbecue
When you arrive at your cabin there will be fresh linens on the bed and clean towels in the bathroom. There will be brand-name shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. You will only need to bring food, clothes, and personal toiletry items.
Fantastic hiking and running trails with wildflowers, waterfalls, and wildlife can be accessed right from the cabins.
Unfortunately no pets or dogs are allowed. Yosemite is not very dog friendly. You won't be able to take your dog with you on hikes.
Each cabin has a TV/DVD player. The TV has no programming, DVD only. There is a small DVD library to pick from or you can bring your own movies.
The kitchen has all the cookware and dinnerware that you will need to prepare and serve meals. The kitchen also has a microwave oven, toaster, blender, coffee grinder, and coffee maker.
The cabins are heated in the winter by propane heaters that look like wood-burning stoves. Both cabins have evaporative coolers that work great to keep the cabins cool during the summer..
Some cell phones work at the cabins. Verizon is the best. Each cabin has a land-line telephone for use during your stay.
There is satellite internet provided by HughesNet. There is a cap on the amount of bandwidth that is available. PLEASE DO NOT STREAM MOVIES OR WATCH VIDEOS AS IT WILL IMPACT GUESTS THAT ARRIVE AFTER YOU.

This was the perfect spot to stay when visiting Yosemite. A little off the beaten path but written directions were easy to follow. Clean and comfortable accommodations and much easier getting to the valley floor in the morning

The cabin was comfortable and roomy for 3 people. My son slept on the sofabed without complaints. It was very convenient to stay in the park. The surroundings were lovely and comfortable, we never saw another person during our stay. We highly recommend this cabin for park visitors.

Highly recommend this property! Cools easily on a hot summer day, such a great disconnect yet some of the best Verizon cell service in the park. You won’t be disappointed

My husband & I chose this rental based on its location & amenities. We loved the location INSIDE the park. No car lines for us! The quiet residential area allowed us to retire early so we could get up at 3:30am and complete our hikes before the unusually hot temperatures could impact us. Returning to the cabin cooled by a swamp cooler made sleeping comfortable. The bed & pillows were super comfy. The well-equipped kitchen allowed us to make all our meals in the cabin. We would eat our evening meals on the front deck with lizards, squirrels, and a variety of birds including a covey of quail entertaining us. Our drive to/from the residential area afforded encounters with a herd of 5 young bucks as well as 2 does. The cabin was well-maintained, well stocked and very clean. The owners kept in contact with us and we even got to meet Kathy in person.

Exactly as pictured in a peaceful environment & provided a needed escape from the populated valley to unwind at the end of a long day of hiking. Appreciated the CLEANLINESS & attention to detail. BBQ grill & well stocked kitchen were assets to cook our own meals. Cooling unit put out cold air & kept the cabin quite comfortable. The bed & pillows were quite comfortable. Sofa was huge & perfect for those midday naps. Plenty of storage for clothes & closet for suitcases. Appreciate the full length mirror in the bedroom. Great water pressure & temperature for a shower. Detailed instructions of how to work everything was handy. Our visit (Summer of July 2024) required a park reservation; however, since we had this reservation all we did was provide VRBO booking at the entry gate & we were good to go-no stress of getting a new reservation every 3 days! Steve was very sweet & informative about the area-be sure to make it out to Tenaya Lake on Tioga Road for a beach picnic. So beautiful! The road leading to the cabin is the original road of the park-so much history in the neighborhood so be sure to check out the barn, firehouse & signage around leading to the cabin. WiFi was not premium fast but enough to keep us connected to family. The cabin is a true gem & appreciate Steve’s hospitality & attentiveness. Even saw wildlife every morning: one morning a pregnant doe & two days later the same doe with her fawn! Could not have enjoyed our stay more! Thank you Steve!

We enjoyed our stay! The cabin was clean and comfortable. It was perfect to come home after a day of hiking and exploring. Kitchen was well stocked. We were there during a heat wave but the AC worked well and was comfortable. Steve was extremely responsive. The whole stay was perfect!

The cabin was charming, in a quiet and beautiful location. It was the perfect location to see everything in Yosemite- as close as you could be to the valley floor, Tioga Road trailheads, and Wawona/Glacier Point outings. It was great to come home to a comfy house every night, and be able to cook in the full kitchen or on the patio barbecue. Our host Steve was super responsive and helpful- we would definitely stay again.

This was a really conveniently located, fairly secluded cabin just the right distance from the main road into the valley. Nice and quiet, rustic style, and just an overall relaxed vibe. We very much enjoyed our stay!

Lupin cabin is clean and in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed watching movies, sleeping on the comfortable bed after hiking all day. The cabin is not far away from the famous sceneries of Yosemite. Thank you

Everything was perfect for our visit to the Lupin Cabin. The accommodations were great, everything we needed was there and the communication with the host was quick and always helpful. We’d highly recommend this to others. After a day at Yosemite it was relaxing to get away from everything to the quiet cabin and spend the night stargazing

What a fabulous basecamp for Yosemite adventures. Away from the crowds of the valley and so easy to access the park early for a peaceful experience. Steve is so nice and a great communicator. We were here in spring and the house was surrounded with lupines. Just lovely. Definitely remote, though there are lots of cabins nearby (& one basically attached). Still felt very private. We will absolutely plan to return anytime & every time we have the good fortune to visit Yosemite!!! 😊🙏☀️

This was perfect for a few days' getaway. The cabin was clean and stocked, and instructions for how to operate everything were very clear. Steve's communication was great - the road was briefly closed during our stay due to a snowstorm, and he reached out immediately to let us know and to check that we were safely at the cabin. Overall a great experience!

Steve's cabin was wonderful for 2. The cozy gas fire kept us warm on the cold nights. The kitchen had everything we needed. And Foresta is a wonderful community--very close to the Valley. Foresta Falls is a great extra too. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend staying at one of these cabins! They are the perfect location from the park (20 min drive to valley) that allowed us to explore all day and return home quickly for a cozy night in the cabin. We loved that the kitchen was fully stocked with any items we may need, the TV had a fun movie selection, and the property was clean! Communication was quick and easy with the owner and they provided great instructions to the cabin prior to arrival. Would definitely stay again on a return trip to yosemite.

Wonderful place to relax after a fun day in Yosemite. It is about a half our from Bridal Veil. We went skiing, hiking, and even saw the fire fall. It is clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. We highly recommend and plan to return.

We enjoyed celebrating our wedding anniversary in Yosemite NP. This was the perfect little cabin so close to the valley but away from the crowds. It’s a darling cabin in a quiet wooded area. We loved that there were a couple trails nearby too. The cabin was comfortable and cozy. The host communicated quickly and clearly.

Great location tucked away in Yosemite NP. Lupin is clean, cute and cozy and just minutes from the valley floor making it easy to see all of the landmarks. Our son loved the loft. Great spot to get away and relax.
We'll be back.

I absolutely loved this property. Our host was extremely responsive when I reached out and we had an issue fixed very quickly.
The property was very clean, honestly cleaner than my house on a good day. It was a great property that was warm in the winter, with deer coming by to greet us intermittently.
I loved the proximity to Yosemite Valley. I felt like we absolutely lucked out.
The neighborhood itself is on a dirt road and we had an AWD Subaru, but we could have easily made it with a 2wd vehicle as well.
This was one of my favorite properties of all my vacation properties I've visited. Clean, cozy, great location, and perfect for the morning and end of the day after hiking at Yosemite. Very comfy bed, and I get picky about bedding and mattresses. I would come back hands down a million times. Honestly I could live there I loved it so much.
The Internet over Verizon was better than wifi, as a heads up.

We really enjoyed our winter stay in the cabin. The cabin is very well set up, light, and comfortable. It was a great starting point for day trips to Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove.

I had no idea that there was somewhere to stay so close to the valley. Our stay was so peaceful and relaxing, and it was great to drive out of the valley and be at the cabin in such a short amount of time. The BBQ grill worked great, and the cabin listing is true to its word. Would definitely stay here again!

Cute cabin, great for 2-4 people as a place to unwind at the end of the day. It's about 30 minutes from everything so it made it tough to unwind between hikes, but we enjoyed the silence and privacy more. Enough kitchenware to cook meals yourself. Lots of spiders. Plenty of extra blankets, sheets, movies to watch, ect. Owner was very communicative and easy to work with.

The Lupin cabin is in a great, quiet setting in Foresta, which is about 20-30 minutes from Yosemite Valley and on the way toward the Tioga Pass. It's centrally located for all top spots in the park. The cabin includes a full kitchen where we did all of our evening cooking and prepared lunches for the next day's hikes. The evenings were cool and the cabin was warm and cozy. A good stay with a fabulous location!

It was a great location.

Great location for exploring Yosemite. Quiet and off the tourist track but convenient. We would definitely stay there again. The gas woodstove came in handy on chilly mornings. Our only suggestion is that the grill was not clean and the stovetop and pots and pans were greasy and needed to be scrubbed before we used them.

We loved our stay at Lupin cabin. The cabin was as described and the bed was very comfortable for a great night’s sleep. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the patio after a long day at Yosemite. Staying at the cabin was the highlight of our California holiday.

We stayed three nights and had a lovely stay. Tucked away off the main Yosemite routes. Blissfully quiet. About 30mins to valley floor. Everything needed was provided, great communications from Steve, and we barbequed every night, eating and sitting out on the front deck. Glorious!
Only thing to note is the sofa bed is very soft and better suited to one child. We had to put the mattress on the floor on top of the sun bed cushions to stop our two teenagers rolling in each other during the night!! I’d say
