About this cottage rental
Wildwood Cottage in Bristol, New Hampshire is part of the small 1950s Forest Acres vacation community tucked away on a wooded hillside in Bristol, New Hampshire. It has been our family’s vacation home for more than 20 years. The road is steep, but the rates are quite affordable. The crystal clear water of Newfound Lake is just a short, if steep!) walk to the bottom of the hill, and the wondrously tall conifer trees are all around.
Though the outside of the cottage is deceptively small, the inside is quite spacious, with plenty of light, natural pine woodwork, an open cathedral ceiling and loft area, a fireplace, screened sun room, and the obligatory deer head. If you're looking for "lodgey," you've found the right place!
The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably. There is private bedroom with a queen bed, a loft bedroom with 2 twin beds, and a double futon on the sun room. You will need to supply your own sheets & towels. Blankets and pillows are provided.
The kitchen is equipped with a a small gas stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven and the usual cooking utensils. Being small and low tech there is no dishwasher. Speaking of technology, there is a flat screen TV with DVD player and a similar "old fashiony" Game Cube with games, a stereo, ipod/phone charging station. Wifi is available for subscription TV services, Netflicks and HBO. Cell phone service seems to be quite good in our location, we can't say so much for in town.
Outside there is a front deck with gas grill, outside tables & chairs and umbrellas to keep off the afternoon sun. There is a sand box in the yard if you have little tykes with you. We have a fire ring in the backyard and wood is provided. There is an enclosed outdoor shower for rinsing after the beach if you like the back to nature feeling.
The cottage is not on the beach, but it is right between the two Bristol Town beach areas, and about 7 minutes from Wellington State park - we'll provide the beach chairs and floaty noodles! We have found being off the main road and the busy lake front has means more peace and quiet, and a safer place for kids.

This is now the second time we’ve stayed here, and I already booked for next year. The house was clean, cozy, and well stocked. Working with the owner has been smooth and painless. We couldn’t ask for a better spot!

The cabin/cottage is very cozy and clean. Some nice stores and restaurants nearby not to mention the beautiful lake! Me and my husband loved our stay here.

This was our 3rd year at this cottage. It has everything you need and more. A trip down the road to Cummings Beach is a 2 min ride. Our family loves staying here and we look forward to it every year!!! Thank you Laura for sharing your little paradise with us.

Wildwood Cottage was as described and better. Owner was easy to communicate with and answered some questions before our stay. The property itself was quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to the amenities you may need during your stay. The weather didn’t want to cooperate much while we were there, but we enjoyed our time. I would recommend and very much consider another stay. Tip for future visitors, if you plan on visiting Wellington and the weather is going to be nice, make reservations online at least 1 day in advance.

No surprises when we got there, the place is as advertised. The bed was comfortable, plenty of room in the house. Good wifi. well stocked kitchen so we were able to cook our own meals. Very pleasant neighbor hood and nice back yard. The lake was beautiful but we didn't spend much time there as we were on this trip to enjoy the fall colors. Unfortunately this area had not reached much color yet, but was only a short drive north to find beautiful places in the White Mountains and even farther north. Nice drives, and a great place to return to in the evenings. Would love to return someday and maybe try fishing in that lake.

Best thing we have ever done. This was reasonably close to everything we wanted to do plus. It was comfortable and clean and cozy.

Our stay at Wildwood cabin was exactly what we needed. Though the weather wasn't on our side, we were still able to enjoy the comforts the cabin offered and improvise (s'mores in the fireplace!). Everything you need is there, and especially grateful for the small washer and dryer which was needed after getting caught in a downpour while hiking little Sugarloaf. Across from the gorgeous Newfound Lake, we are already excited to try to plan a trip back.

We’ve been going up to New Hampshire every summer for my entire life. This is the first time we stayed at a rented location and we could not have asked for more. The location was perfect, the house was fantastic, and communicating with the host was very simple and easy. The pictures are great, but seeing it in person was even better. We can’t wait to stay again!

Or stay at wildwood was magical as always. Rain or shine it’s just the perfect spot for our family to enjoy the lake, the mountains, the peace and the kindness of a community of people who value all of these things. We’re grateful, so very grateful, to be able to count our stays here as tradition. Thank you Laura!

The place was the best. In between all the areas we wanted to visit. Small and cozy. I stay here again.

Well kept property, among the nicest I've rented. I ranked Accuracy of Online Listing as only a 3 because the pictures show a small pond on the property visible through a window. There is no pond. The lake is a short drive away. The access road is extremely steep with large and long frost heaves. Lots of scrapes where cars have hit the road surface. A neighbor said the road will be redone Fall 2022.

Great time, as usual! We intend to make it an annual event!

This cottage is the best on almost all fronts: clean, tasteful warm decor, romantic, convenient location, well stocked with supplies, welcoming hosts...the only small down-side, which would only be a deterent to a few, is that it is not a very private location. That said, the location made a great central location for all our adventures. We would highly recommend this cottage.

We love Wildwood! We walked in and the first thing our kids did was run upstairs to see if the teddy bears were “still on our beds”. Of course, they were because of the thoughtfulness of Laura and Jane. The house was so clean and ready with everything we could need including beach toys and chairs for our whole family! We climbed rocks in rivers, fished, swam a ton, collected water from the spring, enjoyed cruise night at village pizza and the Ecotour which was incredible! Our twins have made friends with the twins who own Twin Designs in town and their sweet turtle Dianne. Going to their gem of a shop is a repeated highlight. This house is wonderful and the location is perfect for a family but it’s the people who make the experiences our family has had so memorable. You can stay in a cabin anywhere or shop any small town store but here teddy bears are placed on pillows to welcome kids and people come out from behind the counter to get to know one another. It’s our happy place and we look forward to many joyful returns. Thank you Laura, Paul and Jane!

This was our second visit to this very welcoming, idyllic cabin just above the shores of Newfound Lake. The host and their family have made this into a true haven from the cares of the world. We are always so happy and peaceful here! Communication with them is convenient and helpful; the place is in great shape, and it’s even better than home!

A lovely, comfortable cottage near to beautiful Newfound Lake. Most every needed kitchen item and such available, and the furnishings are quite nice. Just a short walk to the lake and the area has any number of outdoor recreation choices. We couldn`t have been happier about staying here.

The accommodations were adequate for what we were expecting. It is advertised as a cabin in the woods, and it is a cabin in the woods. The kitchen was small, but doable. The extra bed in the room with lots of windows was perfect for our daughter, who flew in to be with us for awhile. Very cozy, a bit tight, yet roomy enough too. The loft was adorable and perfect for our two daughters, They are young adults. It even had a nice working washer and dryer with a small ironing board and iron. It was well stocked for a cabin in the woods. We were a little surprised by the extreme incline going up to the cabin. We scraped the rear of our vehicle a couple times. GPS wanted to direct us down a steep driveway, but it was actually further up the road and around the bend before we got to the cabin. There were more cabins in the area than what I had expected. The lake was not too far away. We were able to walk on it for a bit, but we didn't have much time to really enjoy it. We had an overall enjoyable and memorable stay.

This cabin had everything we needed for a vacation in the woods. Clean, well stocked, decent internet, and the perfect location to explore the Lakes Region and the White Mountains. Could use a little more light in the bathroom, but otherwise it was just what we hoped for.

Absolutely perfect spot for a summer getaway. The property itself is fantastic and the smell of the wood when you come through the door is instantly relaxing. The communication with the owners was phenomenal, very responsive, and kind enough to find and return my eReader when I left it under the bed!!! The cabin instructions are so thorough and left very little to be wondered about, and the beach was just a short stroll away! Great access to so much nature! Would absolutely stay here over and over again!

It was perfect for our family of 5- we loved the living room space and enjoyed cards and games as a family at the table in the spacious family room. We’ll stocked, just brought ourselves, clothing, food and sheets. Awesome!

This house was absolutely perfect for our first vacation as a family of 3. Our family has been vacationing to Camp Wulamat for 40+ years. We just had our first baby, so it was time for us to get our own place. This house was super clean and very spacious! It worked perfectly for our family and we hope to continue to rent there for the next few years!

A lovely cottage has everything one needs for a relaxing escape from the city. Short walk from the lake. Nice quiet neighborhood with lovely cottages and blooming perennials. Great bakery 5 minute drive away for all breakfast needs. A few food options in town but we mostly cooked on the grill. Kitchen is equipped with everything one can possibly need. Outdoor shower was very nice too.

We had a great time staying here. It's a quiet area (granted it was end of Sept) with lots of walking trails nearby. Close to Lake Winnepesaukee and the White Mountains. A few things could be better with the cottage (better lighting in bathroom, shower leaks through the door and doesn't seem to be any local reception on TV). Also, though I admit it was the end of the season, it seems like previous tenants didn't really spend much time cleaning (lots of dust under bed and in corners) - maybe a smaller more updated vacuum would help! All in all it was a great place to chill out and for the price many good things too: well supplied kitchen, plenty of games and books, lots of heaters (though be careful with other things like toaster if you have them going..lol!) Caretaker was right on it when we called about both propane tanks for grill being empty. Got some good ideas for a small cottage we own and loved the area. Was a little startled by the noise of the acorns hitting the roof at first but got used to it. Thanks for sharing your family home!

The pictures are very accurate. The cottage is spacious in the main living areas. The small kitchen is fine for uncomplicated cooking and the queen bed in the downstairs bedroom is extremely comfortable. There are several other cottages in the area, which is high above the lake. We loved it.

Cozy, comfortable, quiet location, quick walk down to Cummings Beach, board games, good Roku TV and sound system, awesome outdoor shower, charming, welcoming... so many things that we love and appreciate about Wildwood (our third year here). Laura, the owner is responsive and personable. Only good things to say!! Highly recommend.
