We stayed for 4 nights, and the room and host were amazing!!
Anke taught us how to use the stove and make coffee, the place was really clean, and there was hot water for showers! Consistent internet, right in the water, secluded but also right in the heart of activity.
100% recommend!!!

Anke was amazing and her place was clean and nice. It was great to hear the waves right outside the window at night. Stargazing in the back yard was incredible.

This little apartment was great! Centrally located on the Caye and our host Anke was fastastic. The apartment was well equipted and brightly decorated. We were a little worried about have no A/C but the fans worked great and there was always a breeze so I hardly even noticed. I can't say enough about Anke and her sweet son Andreas, who woke up at 6:00 AM to tell us goodbye on our last day there. We would definitly book here again.

The accommodation is a bit away from the crowded and sometimes loud island life in Utila. If you want to relax at the seafront, kajak to uninhabited islands, cook in your private kitchen (little pulperias exist so you can buy fruits and vegetables) oder eat in authentic little restaurants you are definitely right here. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Anke and her son were awesome ! Very helpful with setting it up so that it was easy to get there. Gave us a very comprehensive tour of the cay and how everything worked on the island. It was relatively easy and inexpensive to get to the town of Utilla from the cay. Anke was also Great to dive with!! We stayed at 3 different places in the Bay Islands on this trip and I can say this place was our favorite place.

Staying in the heart of the Utila Cays
My husband and I decided we wanted to experience what it’s like to be amongst locals of Utila. We picked the absolute PERFECT place for this! I cannot say enough positive things about our host Anke. From the beginning of booking, with all our questions, to the end of our week she made sure we were taken care of. The locals are friendly and accepting. Other than leaving for dives we mostly stayed on the Cay. Restaurant had delicious barracuda. We loved watching the sunset most nights from the dock at the restaurant. I thought maybe no A/C would be hard but we felt like we acclimated quickly to the heat. We loved lounging in the hammocks drinking coffee in the morning and sitting by the ocean in the evening looking at the stars. Definitely a return destination for us.

Enjoyed our stay
We found Anka to be a great host! She met us at the ferry at Utila. We spent 5 days snorkeling just outside our apartment door! The apartment offers everything you need to cook your own meals or there are a couple of restaurants. We enjoyed talking with the small grocery store owners and the pastries they make are
delicious! The island is small and very quaint! Hope to return sometime!

Peaceful & private
Worth the travel to get here! If you are looking for off-the-beaten path, quiet, serene, and private, this may be for you. Anke is a wonderful host, she treated me as a friend or family. I definitely recommend staying here and will return to enjoy more of this peaceful retreat.

Anke has a love for color, design and the water which just shines through at this property. Great place to read a book in a hammock and jump into the water when the mood strikes. No A/C; however, there are plenty of fans and great snorkeling right outside. Dining table is arranged to taNext door neighbor is a cook and sells plates of food for $5! Lots of thoughtful touches from the fire pit to the rocking chair to the outdoor lounger. Water is shallow enough for kids. Area felt safer than the south shore of Utila as there was less foot traffic.
Very nice people. Close to everything you need. No vehicles, strictly boat access. Great host(s).

Colorful hidden secret in Paradise
We loved our stay at Anke’s place. The apartment is clean and fully equipped with everything you might need. It is in the best location, you have the caribbean sea as your backyard!!! and it is in a prime location for some amazing snorkeling. Anke is a great host, she even went to pick us up at the Ferry dock at our arrival. We’ve been to Utila before, but not the cays, and I would definitely recommend it, if you want to enjoy the caribbean sea, without all the partying scene and craziness of Utila.
We would definitely stay here again.
Thank you Anke for being such a great host.

Great place to stay on the cays!
Having been to Utila (and the cays) before, we knew what to expect with the location. In a nutshell, the cays are a fishing community full of friendly people. Anke, the owner is a local dive master (instructor? I forgot- sorry Anke!) and as friendly as they come. The lower level of the house is where the renters stay and there is a small sandy area right outside your door and the ocean just steps away. You can easily wade through the water and snorkel right off the back patio. Anke checked in on us from time to time to make sure we had all we needed- drinking water, etc. but was not intrusive. There is a hammock on the patio for relaxing and while there is no AC, there are fans in all the rooms to keep you cool. The breeze flows through the lower level quite well and we never had issues with the heat despite the high summer temps. The house is easy to spot and is centrally located between Pigeon and Jewel Cay. There are a few restaurants on the cays, but hands down we suggest Cay View Restaurant. Saturday BBQ dinner is great, and they have a bunch of other great choices on the menu- fresh fish burgers, fish fingers, etc. There is wifi at the house and it was more than enough to check email, send pics back home, etc. The cays are a 20-30 minute boat ride to Utila town proper, so the cays have a more remote feeling and more of a community vibe and less of the typical party scene in Utila. We used a dive op based in Utila town and they had no issues picking us up from the cays each morning, making Anke's house even better- it let us sleep in and have a shorter boat ride to the north side! A few things to note- the kitchen area has a small fridge for storing some items- juice, snacks etc. It's the minifridge size, but was plenty for us. There is no hot water for the showers, but the was wasn't cold- just cool, which felt great after a day in the sun and on the dive boat. The house was clean and midway through our stay Anke came down to pull and wash the sheets, etc. Anke was very eco-conscious and works to keep the cays and the surrounding ocean as clean as possible. Composting of waste, recycling, etc. were all encouraged and goes a long way to keeping the area clean. One tip- the restaurant nearby has a party on Saturday nights and the music can be a bit loud. If you're a light sleeper, earplugs may help. With all our diving, we were ready for bed and didn't have much of an issue, but just an FYI.

Fantastic host, welcoming community and an unbeatable view
This apartment is the quintessential beach house with unbeatable views from all angles. It is clean, quiet and stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay. Anke, the property owner, is lovely. She was responsive at all stages of the booking. She left us alone to enjoy what felt like our own private island but she was available and approachable if needed. Just note, the water taxi to and from Utila is a little expensive ($20 per person one way for a 10-15 minute ride), unless you can find a fisherman to take you (much cheaper, only $3, but takes longer). Either way, it is 100% worth it!! Could not recommend this property more highly.
