The condo was great, with an even better view. The beach was literally right below the balcony. It doesn't get better than that. Everything was clean and gorgeous furniture. The beds were very comfortable. We did not use the pool on the roof, as my son did go up a couple days in and the water was green. We didn't mind much, as the main pool was beautiful and we are more beach people.
Snorkeling was really good right in front of the complex. It wasn't the easiest to access as you need to navigate through the coral some to get through, but some of the best on the island right there. Daniel, the bartender at the beach will help point you the right way through. Just ask him, he's great!
Location was really good. About a 15 minute walk to West Bay Beach. Take the short cut through the Grand Roatan to avoid the worst of the hills. Follow the road, and you will find a gravel path that brings you right down to the beach from there. We did the main road hills once and I paid a taxi $10 to bring me back. We referred to that as the $10 hill going forward lol.
We ate at the restaurant twice, it was quite delicious, but we mainly walked into west bay beach for meals at different restaurants for variety. Our favorite was Annie’s Boardwalk Cafe. Right at the end of the beach. They have their seafood boil on Thursday & Sunday nights and you MUST try it!
Would definitely return and stay here again.

The property is amazing! Steps from the ocean, restaurant and pool. If you wanted, you could want through Grand Roatan to get to West Bay, but we found it too hot so we took taxis. Cost a little more but worth not overheating. It would have been great to have a car, but we made do with the taxis. The rooftop pool got a bit green within a few days, so that was a bummer but I don't know how you can maintain those things in all the sun. Overall very wonderful!

Loved the stay at this West Bay condo. Everything was as pictured. Five minute walk to West Bay Beach. Great condo, highly recommend!

Really liked the property. Our seasoned travelers consisted of three couples, and we would all recommend staying there.
We never used the upper level & deck pool. The roof top area could have used some powerwashing. We enjoyed the central pool area more.
The beds were very comfortable and kitchen had all the necessary dishes and utensils. Plus, there was a large water cooler ready for use.
We couldn't get the TVs to work well and wifi wasn't very strong, but it wasn't a big deal because we didn't spend much time indoors.
The central pool area, on-site restaurant, and beach were great. Very private area, beautiful sunsets, and it felt safe.
We walked to West Bay beach area a couple of times, a short distance, but prepare to walk uphill.

We recently returned from an 8 night stay at the condo. We were 3 couples, so the spacious layout is perfect - 3 private en suite bed/baths, 3 balconies with great views and a very large kitchen that many people could be in at the same time. Everything is quality amenities, architecture, appliances, furniture and finishes. We had a couple of little glitches in the beginning, but the host/owner quickly arranged for things to be addressed to our great satisfaction, and all was excellent! The complex is wonderfully quiet, yet you can go over to West Bay beach for all the liveliness, people, activities, sandy beach, bars and restaurants - although Kismet restaurant on the Meridian property is fantastic! The pool is gorgeous and we loved snorkeling right at the Meridian property and next door in front of Grand Roatan. We recommend this place and hope to be back here again, as we didn’t get to see nearly enough of the island. Thanks Matt, from Janet & group!

This villa was just as described, and we enjoyed our stay quite a bit. The main thing was that the hot water heater went out our second day, and due to the weekend timing, the owner was unable to get it repaired/replaced during our stay. So, we had cold water showers for all of our stay except the first (partial) day.

The property is amazingly clean and beautiful. The pool is wonderful and the Villa is excellently maintained. There is not a more beautiful spot to see the sunset and the snorkeling out to the reef and wall was simply
the best we saw on the island. If you go to the right and follow the channel out you can easily make your way to the diving buoy and you are the reef wall with a 50’ drop! We saw all kinds of fish; eel, and eagle rays. Amazing! I would come back a thousand times!

No bedding for the 2 pullout couches, but the overall place is nice. It’s for people who want a quiet place with no activity going on. You need to have transportation set up to go anywhere which gets a little bit of a hassle. We did find a person who provided great transportation. Pizza on Sunday is great!!!!

This 2nd and 3rd floor space was perfect for our family of five adults. The sunset views are unmatched anywhere on the island. It was a very peaceful and quiet location to stay. The only drawback that surprised us is that the swim up bar is closed however that's not really a problem as the front door to our villa was only 30 seconds from the pool area. The Kismet is an excellent place to watch the sunsets from and we also found out they have stone fired pizzas on Sunday evenings which were also excellent. Matt was a very responsive owner for any and all questions. We would stay again.

Amazing property! Great location lots of restaurants and other beaches down the road. Glad we had car to explore things. Sunsets were the best and great to sit on patio and watch them. Would definitely rent again. Amazed how easy it was to get jugs of water refilled when needed. Kitchen stocked well and lots of spices to utilize. Dining table needs some adjustments quite wobbly but for most part everything was great. Thanks Matt!

The villa was just as described. A quiet oasis away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to the action if that is what you desired. Beautiful sunsets, viewing of the full moon from the rooftop, quiet, with very friendly staff. Even though this was within walking distance, we ended up renting a car as the walk had fairly steep up and down hills that although doable, would have been strenuous for some. Matt was a great host and explained the lay of the land well before we arrived. The snorkeling off the beach was some of the best on the island although it helps to talk to someone about the best in and out since there are rocks and coral to navigate. We loved having the on-site restaurant to eat at and order take out. Highly recommend.

What a great spot to stay in Roatan! The place was spacious, fantastic beach and sunset view from the balcony, easy access to the pool, beach front salt water pool, and on sight restaurant! The best part of all was the amazing snorkeling right out our "backyard" where we swam with turtles, squid, tropical fish and so much more! I definitely recommend this spot but make sure to have a rental car so you can get around to west end and west bay easily if you want to explore the whole area.

Beautiful property away from the crowds. We went on a snorkeling excursion at several spots around the island but the best snorkeling was just outside the condo. Beautiful coral, lots of fish, eagle rays and calm water. Owner was great to work with and put us in contact with locals for all our excursions. He always responded quickly and worked with us when our flight was canceled due to tropical storm Lisa. We were able to stay an extra night without any issues. Highy recommended Roatan and this property.

Our experience staying at a luxury Meridian villa was incredible. The Meridian offers an unusually quiet and serene setting, despite being just minutes away from the bustling and beautiful West Bay Beach. My family was delighted by the snorkeling experience available just steps off the Meridian beach. We watched as dive and snorkel charter boats deposited cutomers to the reef located just outside our window. The ocean views from our property were stunning and the indoor space was clean, comfortable, and very spacious. The gorgeous Meridian pool was a treat for our kids. We also appreciated several meals provided by the wonderful staff at the Kismet restaurant. The dishes were impressive, yet reasonably priced and the waitstaff was very friendly and accomodating. Our property owner, Matt, was very responsive and helpful. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who would like to be near West Bay Beach, but who is seeking a quieter and more relaxing environment.

Secluded but needs some TLC
PROPERTY
If you want secluded, this is the place. The staff is amazingly friendly, the pool was empty, the beach was empty, the bar was empty, etc... We were 6 of maybe 20 people on the property. That being said, if you are into that kind of place, this is perfect.
UNIT
The unit had all the minimums to stay to include disposable items such as soap, paper towels, trash bags, TP, etc... However, we had some maintenance issues, 1. we had a backup in one of the showers and in the kitchen sink. 2. We found a plumbing leak under the kitchen sink. 3. The dishwasher does not wash dishes. 4. The outlets in one of the bedrooms didn't work (one appears to have been short circuited and the breaker panel is in the locked room with the laundry machines). 5. The pool is gross, the pump doesn't work. 6. The furniture is outdated, and several items were broken. 7. The 3rd floor is a nice lookout, but we never used it because the furniture was outdated, and the pool did not work.

Varied opinions from group
We had two couples in our 50’s. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, which was perfect and convenient. The balcony view was great and the property was beautiful. It is secluded, so know you’ll need transportation to go pretty much anywhere else. The reef being so close was awesome. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The primary bed was super comfortable and the living room space was perfect and comfortable. It was nice having Kismet right on property and so close to our unit. My husband’s favorite meal was from Kismet. The beach chairs and fire pit are great to have available. There weren’t many people at the property while we were there so we pretty much had the main pool to ourselves the whole time. Great pool, Although no one was ever staffing the swim up bar.
I specifically wanted a location where I could just walk outside and snorkel. You can absolutely do that here. However, the water is very shallow and it’s hard to get through the reef. There is a buoy that marks an area where you can get through. Don’t try to get through anywhere else or you will get stuck. Once you get out, it’s amazing. Go to the right around the rocks and follow the reef over to Grand Roatan/Infinity Bay. If you want to get to the beach, it’s also hard to know how to get through the reef to get there. Someone with more experience snorkeling that area can probably give better advice on that. One couple walked from the condo to the beach and the other two snorkeled and met them there.
OK - so here is the not so great. We had a couple maintenance issues that didn’t get responded to. The safe is in the main bedroom but it was broken and didn’t get fixed. As you can imagine, between us we had thousands of dollars of cash and no place to put it safely. That did cause me some anxiety all week. There were two broken / wobbly chairs. One at the desk in one bedroom and one of the barstool chairs, so be cautious. There had obviously been some water damage because the paint was peeling in the top corner in the kitchen. We didn’t use the upstairs area at all. It was too hot in the game room and the furniture on the rooftop was rickety. The plunge pool up there also looked icky. When planning, we expected to spend a lot of time up there, but didn’t. However, the main pool was great and we watched the sunset from the balcony or beach. For the price, we didn’t expect some broken furniture. The good thing is these are all easily fixable and would get 5 stars!

Beyond Expectations!!!!
What a wonderful experience!!! The condo is amazing, the views are gorgeous and the grounds are beautiful. But most of all, the people that work at the Meridian are delightful and so helpful! And the owner went above and beyond making recommendations to help us achieve the perfect vacation! We are already planning a return trip!

Condo great. Sunsets off beach balcony. Fantastic pool off other balcony. Three great pools (beach salt water, awesome huge free form, roof-top dipping pool). Kismet open-air restaurant right below our beach balcony was very good and affordable. Grounds are beautiful and the reef in front as good as any we paid to boat to.

The Meridian was absolutely gorgeous & I truly couldn’t imagine staying anywheres else. Awesome views. Pool was beautiful and salt water pool near ocean was amazing! Super cool area on rooftop patio for sunset watching. Group loved the snorkeling from the beach. Gym was unusable in my opinion. But, workout on the rooftop worked well :)

Amazing vacation
Just returned from an amazing trip to Roatan. Loved this villa and the entire property. The view from the living room and balcony everyday was incredible. The beds are nice as well. The pool at the property is so nice as was the food at the restaurant which is right below the villa. I went to get something to go one night and they offered to deliver it when it was ready! The services all around at this property are amazing. We never had to worry about a car as they either took us or got us one very quickly and they had many recommendations for things to do as well. The property Manager Afan was impressive - so kind, and helped us with anything we needed. It was like having your own private house in a very quiet resort. West Beach is 5 minutes away by car and everything seemed relatively close. Excellent location and would return!

Roatan Paradise
We Stayed at this beautiful property for 8 nights. We had 7 people and there was lots of space and it was beautiful inside and out.The location was perfect. It was a close walk or drive to the beach. The only thing I would recommend is a car. I have 6 year old twins and it was just easier after a long day at the beach to jump in the car to head home. Also with the car we had the ease of going to dinner every night on the West End without having to worry about getting a cab. We also explored the Island which was such a blast. The staff at the Meridian were awesome and so helpful. This property is quiet and not on the main beach with all the hustle and bustle. We will definitely be back.

Great property.
The villa was really nice with spectacular sunset views! The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked if you want to prepare any meals yourself. They do provide a water cooler with jugs of water which is nice so you don't have to buy water at the store. The resort is pretty private and quiet. Because the beach is only accessible through the property it is not accessed by anyone outside of the resort. The resort staff were all excellent! The food and drinks were great. We would definitely consider returning for another visit.

Roatan Paradise!
We arrived at the villa and it was as beautiful as it is in the pictures and so much more. The villa was perfect, luxurious and exceeded our expectations. We travel alot and have rented homes and villas all over the Carribean and this was at the top of our list. The entire property is beautiful and peaceful. The restaurant Kismet and the snorkling right off of the beach was fantastic. I definitely plan on visiting Roatan and the Villa again. Matt was very responsive and informative, the staff at the front desk and restaurant were awesone and our driver Juan Carlos was THE BEST. He catered to our desires and was always available to drive us all where ever we wanted to go. He booked our tours and ensured that we were well taken care of and satisfied. Thanks again Matt and Juan. You will not be disappointed vacationing in Villa de Rui.

The best trip to the tropics we've ever had.
Although my review is months later, the afterglow of fantastic trip still lingers with us. We used a person Matt knew to shuttle us to & from the airport. They were really nice people - we stopped at the grocery store on the way to the home, and found everything as amazing as the pictures showed. The home is completely first class in construction and superbly appointed.
Our shuttle friends arranged for a private tour of Cayos Cochinos for the four of us. We had a certified boat captain, with a local expert snorkeler to act as a guide. He carried a life jacket on a tether in case one of us had needed it. They brought food & drinks and were completely focused on our having a great time.
We didn't realize the native language of Roatan is English - while the locals are bi-lingual, we noticed they mostly spoke English with each other. I had been semi-braced to recall my Spanish from high school - which is now reduced to being completely fluent in ordering anything Spanish on a menu, and most forms of libation.
After years of going to Mexico where we were constantly seen as a target to get ripped off, or catcalls about what they wanted to do to my blonde haired wife, Roatan was completely the opposite. People were respectful and happy to have us there. The staff at Matt's property were very friendly and easy to work with for the few needs we had. I've never felt so welcome outside of the U.S..
I describe our experience at this property as "we had our own private Poipu, a state beach on Kauai." The snorkeling off of the beach was as nice as was we saw at Cayos. 83F water is ridiculously pleasant to slide into, and the protected area around this beach made for easy in & out every day.
We found the kitchen well appointed and made some really superb meals. We also used the restaurant on the beach, which we felt did a great job.
We did not rent a car only because this was our first trip. We didn't feel a need to rent one - we had the shuttle team do a mid-week grocery store run. While we are planning to go back to Matt's place, we probably wouldn't rent a car so long as we had access to the shuttle car team. But, it's hilly in Roatan, and with lot's of kids you'd want to have one since walking off the beach is up or down.

Disappointing Stay - Construction!!
I booked this property (3 bed 3 bath condo with roof top pool) for a family vacation. My husband and I have visited Roatan on many occasions but it was my parents first trip and privacy and quiet were at the top of their want list. I found the property through VRBO but was asked by the owner to communicate directly. I specifically asked about privacy and quiet and was assured that is not a problem at The Meridian as most of the owners don't rent their units. Unfortunately he did NOT disclose the fact that the entire property is under construction. Workers started at 7 a.m. sharp every single day in the unit NEXT DOOR and all throughout the property!! We literally fled the unit every morning to escape the noise.
Additionally, repairmen were in our unit for 5 hours on one day repairing a washing machine that was locked out to us. I understand the need for repairs but that should be done when the place is not rented out.
We lost power twice (which is normal on this island) but in a property that charges this much they should have a generator at the ready and operating. We also were without water on 2 occasions.
The roof top deck and pool were lovely but the lack of shade made this space completely unusable unless you want to feel like a turkey on Thankgiving Day!
As to this particular unit... there is no on site host so if you have issues you have to contact the owner who is out of the country. Not very convenient.
All in all, the unit was nice and well appointed as advertised but I was quite disappointed and cannot in give this place a good review. This unit was the most expensive place we have ever stayed and I was incredibly disappointed. I have sent an email to the owner asking for 1 night + tax refund. I feel that this is a reasonable request. I still have not heard back from him.

This place is amazing!
Hello Matt,
I wanted to write a review for your place, because I felt that strongly about the awesome value it is and how much we enjoyed staying here. We have stayed at many VRBO homes, but this one is exceptional. So here it goes...
This is the perfect place to stay on Roatan. It is our 4th time to visit the island and we have stayed at The Meridian Lighthouse Point each time. We love the area where your home is located and would only pick yours because of it’s location and how nicely you have it decorated. Close enough to all the fun the island has to offer, but with it’s own secluded beach. The home is amazing, all new and beautiful. We love how you can escape upstairs onto the outdoor deck with private swimming pool. It overlooks the beautiful ocean. So much privacy and yet your outside overlooking an incredible view of the sea.
Down the stairs and your right there close to the main pool and little cafe/bar area as well. Beach is only a few steps away. We love it!
We rented a van and drove to the very other side of the island where we could take the boats through the mangrove trees. It was awesome. We went to a little restaurant/bar where it’s only accessible by boat and had such a great time. Thank you for making all of this possible.
I am overwhelmed at what a great property you have. Perfect location, and so beautiful.
Thanks again for allowing us to stay here. We love your place!

Amazing Anniversary Trip!
My husband and I booked a week long trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and could not have had a more relaxing and romantic vacation. The villa is absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed for a week of tuning out and unwinding. The grounds are beautiful and, though there was construction going on, it was so quiet that we hardly noticed. The beds were very comfortable and we found that we were up with the sun every day, refreshed and ready for the days adventures. Prior to arriving, Matt was very responsive to our many questions and was able to provide a ton of information on how to get around, what places to try, what to bring with us (and what to leave behind) and the best places to rent snorkeling gear. He recommended that we spend at least one day out on the island with Juan Carlos and it was well worth it! We tried zip-lining, ate the local cuisine, toured the mangroves and learned the history of the island along the way.
Under the right conditions the snorkeling right off the beach was amazing and even better than what we experienced in West Bay. After spending a day out in the water, Kismet was a fun place to relax and unwind. Grabbing a Salva Vida and enjoying some lobster tacos while watching the sunset was the perfect way to end a day. We can't wait to go back and wouldn't hesitate to stay at Villa del RIU again. What an amazing anniversary!

Best Vacation Ever! (Don't forget the bug spray)
I cannot speak highly enough about Matt & the entire staff at the Meridian. Villa del Riu is absolutely gorgeous and exceeded expectations. Matt was wonderful with recommendations for restaurants and suggestions of things to do on the island. He even emailed me to check in when he heard that we had a minor fridge issue that was quickly resolved by the staff. Laura, the owner of the whole property, was extremely friendly and welcoming. The resort is still under construction, but we were not disturbed by it at all.
The staff and the food at Kismet was fantastic. Lindon was particularly great. Depending on what time you go, it can definitely take a bit of time, but it is certainly worth the wait. Considering you're waiting on the beach with a cocktail, you shouldn't been in much of a hurry. All of the food is fantastic, especially any of the lobster (tacos, quesadilla, curry, etc.). Just over the hill is the Grand Roatan and they have the best Monkey Lalas and other frozen drinks on the island (2 for 1 during happy hour). Plenty of activities to do on the beach near the Grand Roatan & Infinity Bay.
Make sure to rent or bring snorkel gear to head out to the reef around the other side of the rocks on the beach. It's a fantastic place to see a wide variety of fish and sea turtles.
If you're a golfer, the Black Pearl at Pristine Bay is a must. A gorgeous course designed by Pete Dye. Be sure to bring plenty of balls as you'll be in for a long day if the wind is howling (which it was when we played).
Another must is ziplining at Gumbalimba park. We had a blast there. The guides are hilarious and totally make the experience. It's a quick drive from the Meridian, and they'll come pick you up if you have a large group.
I can't wait to return to Roatan to see the Meridian when it is completed. Because of Matt's responsiveness and suggestions, I wouldn't think of renting from anyone else. Plus, having been on almost all of the rooftops and balconies while we were there for a wedding, Villa del Riu has the best view!

Best Part of the Trip!
I cannot be enthusiastic enough about Villa del Riu, its location, its quality and the responsiveness of the owner.
After a disappointing experience with an Athens VRBO rental earlier this year, I was understandably nervous about choosing another one. This property could not have been more perfect. We utilized Juan Carlos, the recommended driver, and arrived swiftly after a stop off at a local grocery store; he was engaging, spoke excellent English and provided us with lots of local information on the ride. The property is exactly as as advertised: instead of being decorated with cheap "Ikea type furnishings and linens, the owners have this outfitted as one would a real home. Quality linens, comfortable beds, toiletries, thick bath and beach towels and American style high end appliances. We really appreciated the water cooler.
The condo is literally 25 steps from the beach which is beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The lovely reef is reachable right off shore (no need for a boat!) and its an easy swim around the bend to Infinity Bay and some of the beach restaurants of West Bay (the walk is relatively easy but requires an uphill trek which can be difficult for the less fit and/or in the humidity). We loved the ability to wake up and go for a snorkel without having to arrange a tour/boat. Our mother loved the warm pool and the ocean and sunset view from the decks.
The owner was very accommodating and prompt in his responses and made lots of suggestions; he seemed to share our excitement about the trip and after seeing his home, I can see why. I'm already thinking about when I can make another trip there!
Finally, the property has a restaurant onsite, located right on the beach (again, 25 steps from the condo); while the food and service was not to our liking (it seemed like it existed mostly for staff to watch loud telenovelas; they were also out of a lot of choices), it was very convenient for a pre/post dinner drink and snack. It was great to grab a Salva Vida beer and sit on the lounge chairs, watching the waves.
There is some existing construction on units behind the pool but other than a random "tap tap tap" during the day, we didn't hear any noise and were not disturbed at all.
I want to thank the owners for the opportunity to share their home and their adopted country; it exceeded my expectations and made my family fall in love with the area (mother even grabbing some West Bay real estate information).
