About this chalet rental
All rates are automated including the special rate.
This unique and eclectic and rustic home has many of the owners paintings and carved and painted furniture showcased throughout the home, as well as many local artists paintings, artwork, and antiques gracing the home. It also features an expansive entertaining deck to enjoy the tall pines. There's a fenced back yard for Fido.
This visually enchanting Artist's Chalet is a perfect Flagstaff retreat. The home is located in Kachina Village in a quiet cul-de-sac with 8 other homes, and 8 miles from historic downtown Flagstaff, 5 miles from west Flagstaff and 23 miles from Snowbowl skiing.
Relax on the deck in a swinging chair, or enjoy the outdoor firepit. Firepit may not be available in winter or during fire restrictions. Upstairs skylights and lots of windows provide plenty of day light and an evening star filled view.
An outdoor paradise, is surrounded by amazing hiking trails, excellent cross country skiing, world class mountain biking, and canyoneering. Just minutes from historic downtown Flagstaff, you can find native culture, fine arts and great restaurants and epic winter sports activities at the Arizona Snowbowl and Flagstaff Nordic center. Great adventures and memories are just a short trip in your car! The red rocks of Sedona, Monument Valley, Wupatki National Monument, Painted Desert, the Arizona wine country, kayaking on the Verde river, bumping along dirt roads in the Arizona back country while discovering wildlife, alpine lakes and high desert vistas, and of course, the epic views of the Grand Canyon!
The Artist's Chalet is dog friendly with approval of the property manager. The home has a fenced in back yard that many a critter has played in. Please note that forest is a wonderful place for dogs to explore but don't under-estimate the vastness of this wilderness section. Miles and miles of forest, canyons and steep cliffs offer opportunities for adventure but easy for a critter to get lost (and you too!).

Matt was a great host, we loved the artwork!

Our 4 children gathered at the artist cabin to celebrate our son’s 50th birthday. The came from Dubai, California and Arizona. Some stayed just for the day while others enjoyed the cabin and cool weather for the entire stay. Everything we needed was there or close by. It was the perfect place to enjoy family. I collect art so the artist paintings were a plus.

The house worked out perfect for our party and our dogs over the 4th of July weekend!! We loved the artistic touches!!

Plenty of outside space for the kids to play.
All the basic needs and equipment were pleasantly provided.

We stayed here as a central point to some Northern Arizona adventures. Comfortable and convenient location. Neat, clean and well kept.

Owner was incredibly helpful and willing to work with us! Amazing location and beautiful chalet. Absolutely would recommend

We had a nice stay here while visiting the Grand Canyon. Our stay in Flagstaff was excellent, loved the little downtown area.

We are a group of four adult cousins (40-50’s) who stayed here as a base camp for a long weekend adventure in Flagstaff and Prescott areas. The house was perfectly suited to our needs with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms for privacy and common areas for family time. The house was clean with comfy beds and furniture. The front and back yards are well kept and the location is beautiful. Parking was easy in the very spacious driveway and we easily navigated to the home in the dark. We are all forest lovers and enjoyed waking each day in such a beautiful setting with sunlight streaming in. Thank you Matt for your hospitality!

Very nice had a great time .

Great neighborhood - very quiet! We enjoyed using the indoor wood burning fireplace and seeing the stars through the skylights on the 2nd level. Kitchen was well stocked as were the bathrooms. A large deck with plenty of seating was wonderful for our family gathering! We didn't bring the pets this time, so we didn't use much of the outdoor space. The owner was very responsive when we had questions prior to our arrival. Relaxing!

One couple drove from Washington State the other flew in to Phoenix from Mexico. We came to spend time together and do lots of sightseeing.

Our stay was wonderful, everything was clean and Matt (owner) was quick to respond and allowed for an early check in. The home is definitely very artistic and unique. There was 3 of us with our 2 dogs and the home had everything we needed while we had to be away from our home due to remodeling. Thank you Matt!

Comfortable home, great location to access Sedona, Flaggstaff, Snowbowl, Antelope Canyon, Grand Canyon and Scottsdale …very electric home, my daughter is doing a minor in art and loved all of the unique art pieces. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

amazing property as advertised. eclectic and cozy. highly recommend and looking forward to coming back

It’s a great rustic experience, but very outdated. The outlets were extremely old and loose. Some light switches were missing or also very loose from wall. Most of the knobs from drawers and closets were missing or loose. The beds were comfortable and for the most part the cabin was clean. The property definitely requires some extra maintenance attention to be in better renting shape, but overall a great rental property.

Had a nice stay, house was as described, pictures were accurate. Quiet neighborhood 10 minutes away from downtown Flaggstaff.

The cabin was nice with unique decor. Pros: great location. Great size. Maintained well. Pet friendly. Cons: cleanliness was not up to par- Dirty towels found in a bedroom, food & spills found in the refrigerator, toilet paper roll found under dining table. Do not stay here if you have a slight pet allergy.

While the location of the accommodation was excellent, offering easy access to the Grand Canyon, we must note that the cleanliness fell short of expectations - even though the description said the cabin was “rustic”. I have NEVER left a review like this, but feel
It’s important enough to do so with details.
The house showed signs of neglect, with some areas visibly dirty. The upstairs bathroom toilet has black mold, the sink drain was clogged with hair, and the tub was dirty. The stove and toaster oven haven’t been cleaned in a long time. Floor vents were dirty as well. Matt was quick to communicate when we had problems with the thermostat. Despite this, it has great potential, and with improved maintenance, it could provide a more enjoyable stay for future guests. Consideration of a DEEP thorough clean would enhance the overall experience. We also recommend closing windows before guests arrive as the house was very cold, and leave a light on for late arrival.

It was a nice stay, very comfortable for our group and we enjoyed the time we spent there.
4.8
The biggest downside was cleanliness. Dust under the beds, smells of the bedding, upstairs shower/tub that was not clean and not particularly friendly to use. The place just generally seemed kind of rundown.
Everything functioned well, there was a fire log provided to use indoors. Fire pit, BBQ not used, but provided.

This home has all the things needed for a wonderful stay.
Unlike other vacation homes we have rented it is filled with art, travel artifacts and cozy throws. Even though it is located in a large development the front landscaping makes you feel like you have plenty of privacy. The beds are comfortable and everything feels very clean. We highly recommend this rental.

Loved the rental, quiet area, had everything needed for my family to stay in one home together. Location was great for Grand Canyon, Flagstaff and Sedona explorations. Owner was quick to respond with any questions I had. Was a wonderful family vacation and not just stuck in a hotel, we were in a home. Thank you Matt!

My family flew in from Pennsylvania to visit me, the Chalet accommodated us perfectly, neatly decorated, and very clean! They spent most of the time there and loved it! A beautiful, cozy home away from home creating cherished memories!

Fantastic Cabin, Great Location. Very quiet neighborhood.
I highly recommend it. Matt was very easy to work with.
4.8
Our stay was just what we needed to get from the heat. This home had the space and all of the amenities we needed which made it most enjoyable!
4.8
We enjoyed our stay at the Chalet in very much. The large front porch with varieties of seating, and the art work inside the Chalet distinguishes it from typical mountain cabins. The bedrooms and beds are comfortable. The kitchen is big enough for a few people to work. We especially liked the funny black chicken that hung around the place.
4.8
It was lovely. Day trip to the grand canyon, rain and pine trees, a friendly chicken neighbor, and excellent value.

Great place to stay

I thought we were getting a cabin in the woods; we got so much more. Outside, a covered deck to sit on all day and evening long, beautiful trees and garden, a fire pit and a good grill. Inside, curated art on the walls, a working kitchen where several cooks could work at once, a lovely table to sit and enjoy meals and then retire to comfortable couches. Hiking near-by, and a lovely black hen named Scrambles wandering the front yard. Not a beige hotel room, to say the least. Thanks, Matt.

Cute house, but neighbors were a bit too close. We knew there was no air conditioning, but unfortunately picked an unprecedented heat wave to go to flagstaff. First floor stayed cool enough, but upstairs was truly hot. Location was perfect for all sightseeing. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay.
4.8
Great location and beautifully decorated home. Very cosy and enjoyed our stay. When we visit family in flagstaff again we’ll be sure to stay here again.

Great neighborhood. Overall good experience

There was plenty of room for us to sleep. The wood inside and out of the home was beautiful. Excellent shower downstairs! Matt, the property owner was told by the housekeeper that a firestick not work correctly. He had it fixed asap, the next day. I told him of a light being out and that wasn’t necessary to replace, we just wanted him to be aware. He replaced that right away as well. Matt was always very quick to respond to messages. Nice, quiet neighborhood. We also enjoyed all of the windows/glass sliders that allowed us to look out very easily.
4.8
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful mountain retreat. The house is warm and inviting with plenty of room and a kitchen that is well-stocked with everything you'll need to prepare a home-cooked meal. The bedding in the upstairs master was a bit worn with a tear on the fitted sheet, but clean. We appreciated the info binder and labels throughout the home so that there are no surprises.
4.8
We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect. Plenty of room. The porch is amazing. We only wish we could have used outside, but our stay was filled with snow. The house is stocked with toiletries, laundry and dishwashing detergent, and even a few basic staples in the kitchen. It was so nice not to have to grab those items at the store. All in all, we had a great stay.
4.8
Property is exactly as described. Plenty of room! Loved the main floor shower. Nice quiet neighborhood . Appreciated the binder with recommendations as well. Very happy with our stay!

Excellent property! This was our second stay and it was just as beautiful, we plan to make this a yearly vacation!!
4.8
We drove up from Phoenix for the weekend and this was the perfect house for a weekend getaway. The house was cute, cozy, and had everything we needed. It was a short drive to downtown flagstaff. The owner was responsive and very accommodating. Overall recommend this place!
4.8
The property fit our needs well.......6 adults/3 couples , 2 children and 1 infant. So there were enough beds for everyone. There were two bathrooms, adequate. The old-fashioned tub/shower was really not usable. But the others shower was great and used by all. We were looking for a home with a wood- burning fireplace and a fenced backyard for the dogs....and we found it with this property. The only things missing were a drip coffee maker (it did have a kerig) and a toaster (had an older toaster oven). It served as a warm retreat after playing in the snow. Proximity to Flagstaff was perfect!
4.8
The house is nice, very unique artwork throughout. We came right after a big snow storm and the driveway was not cleared. Which made it difficult to enter and exit the property. But the house and property itself was great. It was what we were expecting. It’s not right in downtown, but a very short drive to it. The house was clean and accommodated our group well.
