About this house rental
The perfect house for family or friends, centrally located in the perfect Portland neighborhood. Diverse, rich in culture, excellent food and drink, on transit lines and totally walkable, you won't even need a car if you don't want to have one.
We are a legally permitted 4 bedroom short term rental house! Permit #LU 15-267213 CU. We are a registered business with, and pay lodging and business tax to, the City of Portland (TaySoif LLC). Please note there is a small extra charge for more than 6 people. Eight guests is our limit.
The four bedroom two bath main house is for guests; we have a tenant in an apartment upstairs which has its own entry and deck. Guests also get the driveway (where you can park up to 3 cars single file), the front porch, and the back yard. Neighborhood quiet hours are 10PM to 8AM. No events can be hosted here.
Awesome clean beds and pillows, and a clean, comfortable, well appointed, great-smelling house in a vibrant neighborhood. Central air! We LOVE to make our guests have the vacation or short term stay they want.
This is one of Portland's best "pocket" neighborhoods. It's diverse and unique; full of walkable fun. There are so many restaurants and bars within blocks of the house. There are shops, art galleries, the well-stocked Alberta Co-op grocery, and a Zoom care all within steps of the house. Our neighborhood: creative and cool, friendly, fabulous food, flat, walkable, and bikeable. We have Alberta's 'Last Thursday': the divine arts fair on the last Thursday of every warm month, when they close the whole street and the artsy spirit of PDX is in full bloom... Fall in love with Portland here.
We restored this 1970's ranch in 2013 (and again in 2016 when we built the apartment upstairs) to give it a geometric, clean, inviting style. Quiet, solid bamboo floors run throughout the house, every appliance is Energy Star, all the bulbs are LED. It's super private, and the living/outdoor spaces do not intersect with the upstairs tenant's area at all. The front porch is a great place to watch the neighborhood walk by, and the big back yard has a beautiful gazebo with two couches and dining table with umbrella and a dining table with six chairs and a huge umbrella. All for you.
Free fast wifi.Comcast cable, Netflix. Fully equipped kitchen with such staples as sugar, spices, and oil, cleaning supplies, paper towels, napkins. A private code for each party in the internet-controlled locks. Two bikes with helmets and locks. A charcoal barbecue grill.
It's SUPER important that you realize how much we value the quiet and peace of our neighbors, did I mention that? We understand that you may be on vacation, but they are not. You are their guests in their neighborhood, too.
Public transit is just half a block away!
We may negotiate rates if certain dates are not booked, or for a smaller party (1 or 2 people)

We loved the restaurants and shopping on Alberta St - ecologically responsible and food for all kinds of eaters. The neighborhood is caring and beautiful. The house was clean with all the amenities that we needed. The host was friendly and quickly responded. We loved this place!

Our family of 5 (3 adult children) loved our stay. Walking distance to restaurants (French restaurant for brunch was fantastic), food co-op and some shops. Parking on driveway was super convenient although a little tricky backing out since street parking was usually full in July. Front porch and backyard additional great places to gather. Quick drive to Portland attractions (highly recommend the Japanese Garden, Oregon Zoo and Powell’s Bookstore). Also day trips to Multnomah Falls and wine tasting in Willamette Valley.

We stayed here with my various family members to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. The house was perfect. Everyone had their own space and still lots of room to hang out and catch up with each other. The kids loved the fact they could hope on a bike and explore the neighborhood. For a short walk there are fun shops and so much great food. We will be back and for longer next time!

We were here in late May for four days. The house was perfect for us - 5 adults, and there was another extra bedroom. The neighborhood is awesome. Walking distance to many eateries, and we tried several of them while there. All delicious. From here, we did some hiking in the Columbia River Gorge, did some shopping in the Pearl District on a rainy day, enjoyed the incredible Japanese Garden, and lucked into a sunny day at Cannon Beach.
Definitely recommend.

Group of 4 of us celebrating a Birthday for our 66 year old brother! What a great place and centrally located for what we were looking for. Amy was extremely communicative and everything was as advertised. Great back yard, we used the BBQ and grilled up some great steaks and drank some great beers. The parking for our vehicles was very handy, I would say that with the suburban, it was a bit tough getting in and out with all the parking on the street but we managed. Would stay here again in the future for absolute sure.

My friends and I had an amazing stay in Amy’s house. The location was great - both convenient to bars/restaurants in the nearby and we were a short drive to everything else we were doing. I’m not sure if it’s the lighting of the pictures or what, but upon arrival I thought the place seemed even better than I was expecting. Amy was also very responsive in communication. I would definitely stay here again!

Great location in a lovely neighborhood in NE Portland. It was nice to be in the city rather than traveling back and forth to the suburbs. We appreciated being able to park in the driveway so that we didn’t need to worry about finding a spot on the street when we got home in the evenings. So nice to have a kitchen, washer/dryer, and living/dining space for the whole family. Exactly what we needed for a few days in Portland as part of a longer road trip.

The house was perfect for our trip to Portland for a family event. Spacious but cozy, the place was able to accommodate my parents (95 and 96), my daughters (19 and 24), and my sister. We were able to entertain and also enjoy the Alberta arts district. Amy was the consummate host providing everything we needed. She was quick to respond and eager to help. It was a wonderful experience and I’m so grateful. I give it my highest recommendation!!!

Our family stayed there for Christmas. The neighborhood is great, lots of great shops and restaurants. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes and utensils for our holiday cooking. The house was comfortable with lots of seating room with our whole crew on Christmas morning gifting. We would definitely stay there again.

The rental was very clean and had all the basics, dishes, etc.
If all 8 of our party had been able to be there together, the house would have been lacking comfortable space. As it turned out only 5 of us were able to be there together, and the living room furniture was not very comfortable for five, so definitely would not have been comfortable for 8 to enjoy conversation and time together. There was sleeping space for 8, as long as 6 of the 8 are couples.
The location was great. Loved being able to walk to town to pick up a few groceries and check out some stores. The house was adequate for the five of us. The weather was not good enough to enjoy the backyard, but looked very nice. We did hear some noise from the apartment upstairs - talking, and some thumping possibly from a dog, but wasn't really intrusive. Overall we enjoyed our visit there together.

We needed a place close to a wedding venue for my family and this place was great! Beds comfortable, kitchen well stocked (coffee and tea provided), nice living room for some football viewing and close to shops and restaurants. I’d stay here again!

This house fit all of our needs perfectly for a family wedding in Portland. The kitchen had everything that we needed to cook for a larger group, and the host was awesome. Picture perfect back yard area, perfect for cool nights. The dog loved having a backyard to smell the roses! Thank you for a lovely stay!

I can't give this place a good review. I'm limited to 1500 characters, so here are the highlights:
1. Biggest issue: There is a depression in the yard next to the driveway (specifically, the north side of the driveway where it meets the sidewalk). The depression is 2-3" deep and covered by weeds. My wife tripped on this depression. She went down hard. Fortunately, she didn't hit her head or hurt her hip. But she sprained her ankle, which ruined the rest of our vacation...no hikes along the Columbia River Gorge, no walks on Cannon Beach. Major bummer. My advice to the owners: get rid of the weeds and fill in the depression so nobody else trips.
2. Cleanliness. The bathroom in the back of the house had a long hair on the side of the tub. There was also a hair on the ceiling, near the exhaust vent (which is probably still there). There was also a long hair on the sheet in the back right bedroom, and dust on every ceiling fan in the house. There were popcorn crumbs on the kitchen table and potato chip crumbs on the floor under the table.
3. Dirty washing machine. There was debris in the washing machine (looked like backing from a throw rug). Worse, there was mold in the washing machine (on the backside of the door gasket). I cleaned the debris and the mold myself. Also, the dial on the washing machine doesn't work right. (The owner knows this - her instructions: keep turning the knob until it works.)
There's more, but that's enough. I have pix as well.

Stayed here with family for a wedding at nearby Mildred Hall. Enjoyed being a block off Alberta where we could walk for coffee, dining, ice cream, and groceries.

The property was as listed. It was well supplied with everything we needed; although I did not find hot pads. Groceries, restaurants and shopping stores were within two blocks. We were able to attend the last Alberta Arts’ Thursday street festival and, although drizzling, it was fun to walk and see many booths. We loved sitting on the front porch watching the passers by.

The property manager prepped us well for our visit. The accommodations were comfortable and roomy and were on a quiet street that still had enough character; we loved sitting on the porch and in the back yard. Within walking distance of a great beer garden/food trucks and a lot of good restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay here again.

We were visiting Portland for the first time for our friends wedding. The house was great. Clean, cute, spacious. We loved walking to the shops and restaurants nearby and enjoyed sitting out back. the host left a bunch of info about restaurants and shops and things to do nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful neighborhood in a great location close to so many shops and restaurants. This house was perfectly set up for a family with crib, high chair, stroller and toys for the babies. Comfortable, functional interior and nice fenced space in the back.

This is was a great place with lots of room to spread out. We were greeted with a thoughtful welcome gift. I always appreciate it when when a host provides cooking seasonings and plenty of dishes. The neighborhood was wonderful with cool eateries, bakeries, coffee shops, stores. And even though it was close to everything it was very quiet at night. Very nice outdoor space. Delightful!

This is a delightful property in a great location, within a very short waking distance of shops, restaurants and bars. The host furnished the property with everything we needed (and more), including umbrellas, full kitchen utensils and an elevated toilet seat for my aging father. It was perfect for our family, with multiple bedrooms, beds and a beautiful living area, dining area and kitchen. The hosts were super responsive, and it was a great experience from start to finish.

Owner was very responsive regarding some questions we had about recycling and a drip in a faucet. Loved having a king bed - not easy to find in a rental. Super convenient for both driving and walking to local restaurants and food co-op.
