About this farm stay rental
A Beautiful Greek Revival home with wide wrap around porches poised for lovey afternoon and evening sun. Set on 3 acres of hillside, and a 5 minute walk into the small village of Waldoboro and its town dock (bring your kayak/canoe, etc), this is close to many beautiful parks, waterways, and other more famous areas of mid midcoast Maine (but they are more crowded!), such as Damariscotta, Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Acadia. The village of Waldoboro has a great local family friendly pub, the Narrows, and there is a local brewery as well less than a mile away in a beautiful barn setting. The house is close to many conveniences and pretty privately set among trees, and note also close to the road where local traffic heads to and from the tip of our peninsula, to Friendship (mostly lobster and lumber toting vehicles).
Rooms are lovingly furnished with owners' finds from antique and flea markets. This is not a fully renovated old house, so it has it's old charm and quirks, and is a bit rough around the edges, but we think it's beautiful and cozy - see the pictures! There is NO AC or TV, but there is good Wifi. This house is Erica’s primary home, and in wanting to share it's beauty, she hands it over to visitors in the Summer, while she and her cat and dog move into the barn loft above her metal studio, where she focuses on her full time metal craft business. Contact is advised prior to booking to assure latest updates in availability!
In the attached post and beam barn is a well appointed metal and wood shop, available upon request for guided use and/or furniture to sculpture, she can arrange to be a sort of Maker Space B&B! She also offers a 10% discount off our handmade wares to guests and their friends & family, purchased at the house or at her website.

This is a nice big house, with great bedrooms and 3 full baths upstairs and a half bath downstairs. Great for the small children. Wonderful location, just a block or so outside of Waldoboro, so convenient to route 1 and to get to the shore points and beaches. Kitchen is spacious, with a great table/countertop. Erica is very helpful and nice, and the dog she has is the best dog ever!

Large, comfortable home, close to all that midcoast Maine has to offer. Great for extended family and overflow guests.

Our stay was absolutely amazing. The captain's house was a perfect place to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday. There was so much room for everyone, Erica was a dream host and it was the perfect location to get to all the fun attractions in Maine. We loved the big porch and fire pit to connect after a long day. The kitchen was a great place to all cook together and the long table was the perfect place to sit down and have suppers together. Thank you Erica for making our trip so wonderful and memorable. We would give the captain's house a 20/10. Amazing memories

Our family arrived late at night. The house was easy to find and very welcoming. The rooms and furnishings are splendid with all the unique furniture and decor Erika has. We really enjoyed staying in such a historic place. All the bedrooms are upstairs and there is no AC, as noted in the description. The pictures make the rooms look crowded but they are spacious and not cramped at all. One thing we didn’t realize is shoes are to be removed before entering the house, so I wish I had brought slippers for in-house only. It was a great time and the home is comfortable.

Our experience at this vacation home in Waldoboro was nothing short of perfect. E.'s exceptional hospitality, combined with the beauty and comfort of the home, made our stay unforgettable. We highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone looking for a memorable and delightful getaway. The level of care and hospitality provided by our host was nothing short of extraordinary. I must share a remarkable act of kindness that illustrates our host’s dedication. When we realized we had left a life-saving medication behind, E immediately reached out to us and offered to meet us halfway to return it, saving 2 hours on our drive. Her generosity and patience were deeply appreciated, and we are incredibly grateful.
From the moment we started planning our trip, E. was a source of invaluable information. We peppered her with numerous questions before and after booking, and she consistently responded with grace and kindness. This level of service alone sets this vacation rental apart, and we cannot recommend E. and her home more highly. Located just a five-minute walk from downtown Waldoboro, the home's central location made it easy for us to explore coastal and central Maine. The house itself is a beautifully restored historic gem, lovingly cared for and filled with fascinating antiques. It comfortably accommodated our group of six, which included a teenager and a young adult. The home exudes a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, making it the perfect retreat.

As adults we found the history of the place interesting. We intended to have children stay with us but with so much "history" in the space we decided it would not be safe for them and the place. Above all we totally enjoyed the beautiful porch.Thank you

The captains house was everything we wanted., open, big, great porch and a huge kitchen to cook meals together in. The location is close to the water and attractions, but out of the congestion of rt 1.

Really Lovely
Excellent place to stay in, cook, and enjoy the sunset on a grand front porch. Or if you like exploring, oysters, beaches, and ferry rides, all are closeby. Music nerds: Be prepared to fall in love.

Wonderful location for an amazing family trip to Maine
Our family (ranging from 8 to 79 years old) had an amazing time on our trip to Maine. This location was great to do all sorts of day trips (Acadia, Freeport, Boothbay Harbor to name a few).
Erica was a fabulous host and the house was exactly what we needed. After a successful day of clamming she happily hooked us up with a hose to clean off our muddy boots and clothes in the yard lol. As she notes, there's no a/c and no TVs, but it didn't bother us; we even got the teenagers to stop playing on their phones and join us for some card games! We spent a lot of time rocking on the porch and enjoying the wonderful Maine weather We were able to fit two cars (a mini-van and an SUV) in the parking area with no issue.
Would recommend this house to any family that's ok with stairs and older children (Erica has such cool things she's collected that I'd be worried a toddler might break something). If we're ever back that way again we'd definitely stay there. Thank you again Erica! :-)

Wonderful old house
It was a fun, funky, older house. We loved it and Erika was very helpful. As with any older house, there were a few quirks, but we had a great time staying there! The location was also very convenient and made day trips to other parts of Maine really easy.

Wonderful stay in Waldoboro
This house is a rare find. It's very large and spacious for a big group. While the pictures are very accurate, you don't realize how big it is until you walk through it. There are a lot of interesting nooks and areas to explore in the house. It is filled with interesting antiques and collectibles which is also fun. It is a little rough around the edges but that is clearly stated in the description. Our biggest problem was the dampness from all of the rain which created standing water in the basement and a damp smell in the house. There were also issues in our group with allergies, most likely from the owners pets and also the dampness. The owner was extremely responsive and helpful in addressing these issues. With the help of allergy medicine, we had a great time staying in the former sea captains house. The location is terrific if you want to explore the towns along the coast and then come back to the quiet town of Waldoboro. Everything we wanted to do was just a short distance away. We really enjoyed our stay in Waldoboro.

very nice landlady/owner
All was fine except we would recommend more lights: Overheads with three bulbs had only one bulb operating. but otherwise fine, recognizing it is an old farmhouse that is a bit distant from the water.

Comfortable house in a nice village close to Midcoast attractions
Erica's house was comfortable and spacious with plenty of amenities and privacy (bathrooms and bedrooms) for a group. We enjoyed spending time in this eclectic antique-filled environment We especially appreciated the large well-equipped kitchen.
Make sure you get a tour of Erica's metal shop.
The house is convenient for exploring the Midcoast area. Waldoboro is a nice low-key village with all the services needed. Be sure to try the Alewives Brewery and Lakin's Gorges Cheese.

Great Maine get away
Huge, rambling old sea captain’s home in a great location to explore the beautiful towns along the coast of Maine. We arrived after dark and Erica had the lights on and lovely flowers on the tables. Warm and welcoming.

Great for Extra Guests
We had overflow guests (6) who stayed at the home. They all said they slept really well and had plenty of choices of rooms/bathrooms. They also enjoyed the antiques and period pieces in the home, which are unique and novel. I will definitely rent again.

Exactly as Advertised
This house was perfect for our first visit to Maine. Plenty of room for our group of 7 and centrally located so we could easily visit many beautiful sites during our stay. Erica was quick to respond to our many questions before our visit and equally as helpful once we arrived with suggestions on places to go.

Wonderful Waldoboro!
If you like antiques and old houses, this is the place for you! We enjoyed the furnishings in this rambling old house. Erica (host) gave us a tour of her metal shop; she's quite the maker. Close to many quaint towns and Maine's mid-coast peninsulas.

Perfect Maine Vacation
Erica’s home is absolutely beautiful. It is unlike anywhere we have ever stayed, and I am so glad I found it on VRBO. We enjoyed exploring the house and the village of Waldoboro. The village is a short drive from other, busier touristy places, but we enjoyed coming “home” to the beautiful, quiet home and village.
Erica makes everything super easy and she was very helpful during our stay.
We hope to come back soon!

Great stay Great Owner.
Great rambling house with great personality and a great porch. And the owner was gracious and attentive. My only caveat would be that it is a little closer to the road then pictures indicate. That said, the closeness to the road was not a particularly distracting issue.

Charming and Convenient
This is an amazing property, furnished with super funky antiques, an amazing record collection, and lots of bed and bathrooms! Fantastic size for the price, and very good location in Waldoboro.
I could live there for a year and write a novel, build a schooner, or record a jazz fusion album. We will be back!

Awesome!
We had a group of 8 adults and enjoyed every minute at the Captain's house. Erica and Paul were perfect hosts. Around if we had questions and also kept to themselves. Their home is very eclectic and we enjoyed seeing all their treasures. Every one loved it. Thanks so much.

Disappointing
While everything worked and the property was very clean, the condition of the building itself was disappointing. The building smells like an old house full of old things. It is very close to a busy road and, since it doesn’t have a/c, we were subjected to a lot of road noise through the open windows. There was also extensive use extension cords which was disconcerting. Erica was very nice and eager to please. I would not stay there again

Spacious Home
We have stayed here a couple of times and have found it to be a very comfortable home. The location is not far off of Route 1 in Waldoboro so if you are staying around the area, this house is very convenient.

Step back in time in this beautiful home
This Beautiful historic home in a quaint Maine village is filled with an eclectic collection of antiques and art, has big farm kitchen and cozy den with fireplace and woodstove. We had everything we needed to feel right at home. The woodburner was easy to use (with nice directions provided) and kept us comfortably warm despite snowy weather. The house is big, with 5 bedrooms and three full baths (all really nice). We didn't get time to explore the trails behind the house but would love to come back to this house again.

This is a very charming New England home, large enough for a small family reunion, full of treasures
This is the second time my family and I have stayed in this home for the Christmas Holiday. We have had a great time when staying here. The owners are very reasonable and responsive, the property is extremely comfortable and homey and we love going to the coastal Maine botanical garden for the gardens aglow. I can't say enough about this wonderful property.

Wonderful Experience In Time & Place!
Our group absolutely loved the opportunity to stay in this charming home which eloquently brings the past to life! Erica and Paul are wonderful hosts, and the home is charming with ample space for our group. We will most definitely return again and again! I restore Victorian Homes where I live in Illinois, so we especially enjoyed the beauty and charm of this delightful piece of history. A heartfelt thank you to Erica for sharing their home with us.

Wonderful!
Loved the idea of the five bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms! Two of our three children, their spouses, and their children were able to stay under one roof while attending our third child's wedding. This wedding was a distance wedding for us and we needed accommodations. My son and his wife love antiques, and they just loved what they saw at the house, as well as one of our granddaughters. This one loved the chello!
Thanks again Erica and Paul!!
