Had a great stay
1.0 / 5.0
I recently stayed at a property for skiing with my son, it's in a great location, but that was its only perk. The place needs urgent maintenance.
The pull-out couch was a nightmare. We couldn't open it the first night and had to sleep on the floor. Even after the management got it to open the next day, it remained unusable due to missing and bent parts forcing us to sleep on the floor throughout our stay.
The Murphy bed was just as bad, with an old, noisy mattress that made sleeping difficult.
On complaining, the management offered a meager 10% refund, justifying it by saying "beds are a personal preference and a hard thing to refund for." This refund was conditional on signing an NDA to prevent me from reviewing. I declined, valuing transparency.
Additionally, the oven couldn’t properly heat, failing to cook a simple pizza.
I advise future guests to read all reviews. Many have reported similar issues, which I missed before booking. This property has a long-standing history of unresolved complaints.

We had so much fun at Big Sky. Thank you for letting us use the room. The location was perfect!

I was there for a convention and this studio was a great location within 150 yards of the Huntley lodge and convention center. It was very clean and cozy - I enjoyed some down time there and I would certainly book this studio again.

A bit dated but cozy
Overall the property served its purpose as a convenient place to stay during a week-long excursion to Big Sky for skiing and a conference. It is quite small which I anticipated and really would be too snug for more than 2 adults with 2 children. We were only 2 adults and it was "cozy". But it was very easy to walk up to Mtn Village for access to two large chairlifts to start the day (6min walk).
Kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies and a small amount of accessory spices/coffee filters etc. We used it all cooking breakfast and dinner daily. Bathroom obviously had been updated and was small but functional. Nice hot water!
Two criticisms - the mattress on the Murphy bed was pretty bad and needs to be replaced. We had to put down two comforters to buttress the metal springs. The 2nd issue was the gas fireplace was broken and we were updated ahead of time. Given that it was exceptionally cold the week we were there (awoke to -22 degrees one AM!) we were concerned but the heating to the unit certainly kept us warm so we only missed the ambiance.
Never could figure out how to access the ski storage closet - neither key supplied opened it so we just had to bring them into the house.
Overall it was very small but definitely served its purpose. I have to state using it during a holiday week (President's Week) was probably a tad overpriced for the size, given it was a studio and not even a pure 1-bedroom. But there was little else so close to mtn village at that price with a parking space and kitchen so there's that.

Disappointing
We expect to pay more close to the slopes, but there were many problems. The dish tv was not functioning and wasn’t repaired until 10 days into our stay. The murphy bed wasn’t closed properly and fell on my wife’s head. The fireplace and electric grill didn’t work. There was a pair of men’s underwear hanging from the entertainment center. There was no parking pass in the unit at check in. There were no dish towels and the hot pads were very dirty. The disappointing thing is that these issues should have been resolved prior to check in. The staff did their best to accommodate our concerns and we appreciate that. We’ve stayed in these units before and had no problems, but probably won’t again and wouldn’t recommend them to others.

Good location but not clean and no hot water
We weren't expecting anything fancy but:
1. There was a noticeable odor when you first walk in
2. There were no extra sheets or pillowcases (just blankets) for the pull-out couch bed where our son was supposed to sleep
3. There were mouth/lipstick stains on almost all of the glasses so we had to re-wash
4. Many of the utensils in the drawers and bins were dirty so we had to re-wash
5. Most of the Teflon pans are too scratched to be safe to use
6. There were no spare garbage bags, only 1 standard kitchen size bag for our entire stay
7. The shower curtain is orange with mildew
But the BIGGEST issue was the fact that there was no hot water when we arrived or for the first two nights. I understand that the weather was abnormally cold and pipes freeze but we called at 10am (after arriving at 2am so we had slept in) and were told they would have someone look into it. After not hearing anything we called back at 3pm and were told they would have someone look into it. We got a voicemail a little while later saying the maintenance man had the day off and to open the cupboards to let the pipes warm up. It wasn't until the next day that someone came to check into to get the pipes working again.
Two full nights with no hot water for showers at this price is unacceptable despite weather conditions. If its a known issue that pipes freeze, someone on staff to take care of it on a day when its expected to be that cold seems like common sense. And the runaround of having to continually call back to check in on the status of whether it was being looked into, was very poor service. We had also asked for the extra sheets for our son's bed on the first call and didn't get them until the next day.

Decent place - my only concern where the hidden costs added on by VRBO
Overall great ski resort and accommodation
They could add some additional service to the airport
Also I have been using VRBO for years and don’t ever recall these 3rd party costs

Still water condo
Great location, 5 minute walk to lift.

Great location. Very small with a sofa bed that really isn't for sleeping!
Nice and warm but very small and the beds were not at all comfortable nor were the pillows. After skiing so hard, sleeping well would have been nice.

Perfect studio for one or two skiers!
Stillwater condos might be one of the first units built at the base of Big Sky Resort. The units are definitely not new but they are very well maintained and clean! They are within easy walking distance (maybe 10 minutes in ski boots, slight uphill hike) to the main base area, although I chose to use the area's free parking and shuttle. Condo had everything I needed in the kitchen and bathroom. Murphy bed was comfortable, but opening and closing the bed took some muscle. Loved the corner location and big windows to let in the morning light. If you're on a bit of a budget but want to be close to the ski hill, this is a great place to stay; I'd do it again myself.

EXACTLY as Described!
I found this cozy condo in the Mountain Village area of Big Sky just perfect for my son and I on a quick trip to the area. Everything in the unit was in great working order, clean, and tidy.
For me one area that needs to work are the bathroom, and it was perfect and the shower was GREAT. I also am not happy if my bed is not comfortable and both the Murphy queen and the couch were great!
I had to contact Property Management over a couple of questions and they responded very quickly with courtesy and positivity.
Big Sky is beautiful and the area is full of great places to eat and drink. Two that I enjoyed were the Compass Cafe and the pizza at Ousel and Spur.

Everything but the bed
Pleasant, clean, lovely balcony view and quiet location. Fully equipped and outfitted kitchen. Everything, in fact, exceeded expectations, except for the murphy bed. Tricky to pull open, and exceedingly uncomfortable. Recommend you replace with one that is light, doesn't bite your toes when you navigate around it, and above all, has actually mattress-like qualities that don't involve being able to feel the springs!

Alright, but would have been nice to know about non working stove/oven!
Great location made up for non working stove/oven. Thought it unusual to have a hot plate sitting on counter, but understood as soon as attempted to use oven. The pull out couch mattress was poor and uncomfortable.

Smaller than it appears
The condo looks much nicer and larger in the photo than it actually is. It's very small and dated--but it was clean. We had three people in our party. Fortunately, we had a car in which we could store our luggage as there was no room in the condo.

Cozy Little Condo in the Heart of The Mountain Village
We stayed in this condo for a couple of nights and we really enjoyed it! The condo itself isn't anything fancy but it was perfect for what we needed. The view however was spectacular! Waking up to that after it had been snowing all night was fantastic! We had a couple of small complaints however. The front door is a little drafty and the condos seem to have been numbered by meth heads. The numbers seemed to be out of order. Overall it was a great value for being that close to the middle of the mountain village.
