About this house rental
Escape to your private Polynesian Villa on Motu Ahuna and enjoy the luxurious, isolated sanctuary of your exotic fare on Bora Bora, considered one of the most exclusive and beautiful island destinations in the world. Separated from the main island, Motu Ahuna was the traditional retreat of Bora Bora’s high chiefs, and where Puni, a fierce warrior-chief, exchanged gifts with Captain James Cook, the first European visitor. The exceptional location of the islet, with its incredible view of mythic Mount Otemanu across the turquoise lagoon, never lost its attraction and served as natural decor in several classic South Seas films like “Tabu” or “Mutiny on the Bounty” with Marlon Brando. Ancient Bora Bora royalty certainly knew how to relax and now, you too can experience the ever-present soothing powers of this enchanted island. Your morning will start invariably with a magnificent sunrise unfolding right in front of you. To fill your day you can walk the early morning beach where the only footprints will be your own. Go swimming or snorkeling in the lagoon, your natural spa, which, due to the nearness of the only pass to the open Pacific, is charged with invigorating ocean minerals. Explore the reef, or paddle your outrigger canoe to marvel at the coral and multitude of colorful fish. Or, indulge the ultimate farniente, and just daydream in your hammock to the sound of rustling palm leaves in a breeze. Private and discreet, Villa Ahuna offers two fare (thatched roof bungalows) and one large fare pote (thatched roof open air lounge with bar and kitchen) situated on four acres of landscaped beach property. It has its own rain water supply and solar electricity. Perfect for two couples or a family who are looking for a secluded getaway on beautiful Bora Bora.

This property is perfect if you are looking for a secluded and relaxing place to get away from it all. The hoists were spectacular and the property even more so. The only slightly stressful experience is shipping for provisions. Make a list in advance. Otherwise book immediately.

The accommodation & situation were wonderful but isolated. Sunset was magical & feeding scraps to fish at the end of the dock was fun. Sharks & rays swim by.
Jerry took us to the shop on arrival (bring your own bags). There’s a pharmacy close too. Tea had ample drinking water for us at the fare. We waited about an hour for the boat ride to the motu but Tatiana checked & the boat arrived. The return boat ride with SouLouLou was very prompt & he piloted carefully due to one of us having a sore back.
Tatiana was very welcoming. When our French & English struggled she used a phone translation. The information book said that she could cook an evening meal; wish we’d known before shopping. She needs a couple of days’ notice. Confirm the cost – the booklet said 40,000 XPF per person, a typo?
Reviews say a small boat is available. Tatiana said to talk to Tea about arranging it. Be aware that you need a boat license to use the boat; getting details ahead of time would be wise.
There are well-behaved dogs that roam freely; lots of barking when you arrive but they’re friendly. Carpenter bees & geckos are part of the charm. We were there in July – hardly any mosquitos. This was during the Heiva period & cruise ships were in, which meant the performance drums were loud till about 10 pm.
Being careful of water and electricity usage wasn’t hard; charge your electronics during the day. The wifi was fine for emails, Google etc.

The place is amazing and beautiful. A dream come true! We absolutely loved Motu Ahuna! To be surrounded by nature away from the world while feeling safe is the best. Tea, Tatiana and Joel were so helpful. Thank you for making it so easy to get to and from.
We will definitely come back.

An absolute stunning location and one of the highlights of our trip. This property is not for everyone, but if you're looking for something a little off the beaten path and don't mind "roughing it" a little bit, cooking your own meals, not having TV, etc. then you might want to consider this one. The snorkeling off the beach and around the reef is fantastic, the views of the surrounding islands and mountains are picturesque, and all the coconut you could possibly want. The bungalows and tiki hut give off a Swiss Family Robinson vibe, you could host a killer party at the Tiki Hut. We moved around French Polynesia and stayed on different islands and various VRBO's and resorts, and at the end we all agreed this was our favorite.

Amazing Girls trip which included my adult daughter and friend and still in awe of our recent stay at Fare Ahuna. Detached ourselves from our daily work life and just relaxed and explored the gorgeous waters of Bora Bora at any time of day!
Joel and wife Tatiana are wonderful caretakers of the property and always easily available for any needs. Grocery shopping to the main island is available by boat per Joel. Fresh French bread, beautiful cheeses, fresh fish, local fruits graced our refrigerator. Don’t forget to load up on Water and mosquito coils as well. We are locals from Hawaii so this lifestyle was easy for us.
Beautifully decorated bungalows with plenty enough of space for 2 in each room. Outside showers in front of each bungalow to rinse. The main living room/kitchen/bar area is such a large lovely space for dinners and gatherings. French press for coffee and all kitchen supplies are provided.
Every sunset hour we all would hop in the double kayak and the one paddle board and go around the motu. We would play board games and hang out on the little deck over the water and jump in the water with our snorkel equipment throughout the day. We also made friends and miss our watch dog, (Totu) he was always by ourside.
Such an magnificent escape to Fare Ahuna cannot wait to rebook and bring a guitar this time! Absolute perfection of a location🌺

This is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. It’s private and has one of the best views of the mountain. The caretakers Joel and Tatiana are easy to work with and are very helpful and welcoming. It’s a great space clean and comfortable. Motu Ahuna is one of my favorite places to stay in Bora Bora

Loved the idyllic setting...both the structures and the surrounding natural beauty! The place lived up to our expectations. Our private bungalow and surrounding area was on one end of the motu and away from the caretaker's home and his extended family, and they respected our privacy.
Tea was easy to work with, as our stay was initially scheduled during the closure caused by COVID, and was responsive to emails.
If we return to French Polynesia, we would 100% return to Motu Ahuna. The only thing we would change is to extend our stay so we could enjoy the motu longer.

This is a very unique and wonderful rental. The setting is just amazing. You are virtually alone looking across the lagoon to the main island of Bora Bora. The small island that this home sits on is part of the still around Bora Bora. The main cooking sitting area is in an open air covered patio. There are two walled bungalows with a king bed and bathroom in each. The beds are comfortable. Part of what made this so lovely for us could be uncomfortable for others. The island is very isolated and reachable, only by boat. A small boat is provided. The boat is easy to,use if you know how to drive a boat. The unit is simple with a refrigerator, a stove. Electricity is limited but plenty for recharging batteries. You need to buy drinking water and boat it from town.
We loved cooking our own simple meals, relaxing on,the beach and patio and snorkeling. There is a very shallow and interesting reef just outside the door filled with lots of juvenile fish. Cross the shallow reef barrier and there is a beautiful reef filled with coral and fish.
If you're wishing for peace, solitude, beauty and simple comforts, this is the place for you.
If you need nightlife, meals out, social events, this rental will not work for you.
Tea and the local caretakers were very responsive.

The place was beautiful and relaxing. This is not your typical island retreat. You will have to rough it a little. No air, room service or walking to the store but that's the whole point of this place. To fall off the edge of the earth into your own paradise.
Property was well taken care of and clean for being an open house, no doors or windows in the main house. Sleeping quarters were covered and lockable.
Caretakers were attentive and left us to our own unless we needed something. Brought us fresh fruit a couple of times. Little bit of a language issue but hand signs work well enough.
Lots of tours for seeing the island and the surrounding water. We were provided with a 15 foot boat to do our own site seeing and getting back and forth to the main island for food, etc. If it rains, you get wet. If the waves are a little rough, you get wet. This is all part of the adventure.
There were 4 of us and we had plenty of room to hang out. The views from the house and property are beautiful. Bugs were not an issue due to the constant breeze over the island.
Bora Bora is a wonderful place to take on this adventure.

Iaorana. We stayed at Motu Ahuna Villa in mid May and had chosen that time frame to be sort of in between the summer and winter seasons. It was a good choice with highs in the upper 80's and lows in the upper 70's every day. We had some rain, but not much, and there was a nice breeze much of the time.
There were 4 of us (2 couples) and we had the most wonderful vacation. It truly was the trip of a lifetime. As others have said, you need a bit of an adventurous spirit or this is not the place for you. It helps to have at least one person with some boating experience. Cooking our own meals, including those over the fire pit (barbeque), was all part of the experience that we will forever cherish about this trip. I really enjoyed my cold 22 oz. Hinanos sitting on the picnic table by an evening campfire, watching the stars (there have to be more stars in Bora Bora!), and the boats coming and going through the pass in front of the Motu.
We will never forget the great memories that we've taken away from this vacation. From the very beginning when Maeva met us at the airport, we knew everything was going to be great. The homemade Leis she brought us were beautiful, and much nicer than those for others staying at resorts. She is such a genuinely nice lady. Everyone was very kind and welcoming to us throughout our stay. There was a slight communication barrier with Joelle and Tatiyana (spelling?), but they were both very nice and it was good to know that there was someone on
the island that we could go to if we needed for any reason. The villa was perfect and certainly as described. We enjoyed watching every sunrise and sunset every day we were there. On our trips to Vaitape in the small boat, we had no problems and everyone in the village that we met was equally friendly. We all will never forget the smell of the fresh baguettes being brought out from the oven to the front of the store at Chin Lee's or Super U. They were so good and I'm sure we'll never find them that fresh again any where here in the U.S. Rocky, our tour guide on the jeep safari, was perfect. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, and answered all our questions about the island. My wife and my sister will cherish the black pearls they brought home from Bora
Bora. Your store (The Farm) is incredible!
I hope we are able to return some day.
Thanks again (Mauru' uru) and if you ever need a good reference for your villa, I would be more than happy to provide one.

The other reviews said it all. I am fortunate to have been to Bora Bora many times .I have stayed at very fine hotels but this experience is special. It is as you would hope a getaway to some exotic ,private, non touristic , primitive island would be but with everything you need,if you are content with the kind of vacation where you relax and find the you that was lost all those years ago, this is it.One of the most beautiful spots on the most beautiful Island in the world.
Tea does so much to make the island comfortable. I was not bitten once by a mosquito and you are in the tropics!!! My wife and I used only one of the bungalows, but next time we will bring two friends for the same price for one of the most wonderful experiences of their lives. It is not just a place to stay,it is an adventure

We have always dreamed of a trip to Bora Bora, and envisioned ourselves staying in an over the water bungalow. But after doing extensive research, we decided that we wanted an experience more authentic and private. The over water bungalows look great in pictures, but in reality they are right next to each other and you have very little privacy. We found Villa Ahuna and I knew instantly that this was where we wanted to stay for our dream trip. I booked the property for 9 nights. We were a bit nervous since we had never been to Bora Bora, and we weren't sure of logistics, the location, etc. We are both boaters and sailors, so the thought of having a small boat as our primary transportation for vacation was very exciting to us.
All of our communications with Tea, the owner, were gracious, and any questions we had prior to our arrival were answered promptly. We were greeted at the airport on arrival by A young woman named Bellen, and a boat driver named Tuma. Bellen was a pleasure to meet, and she gave us our initial introduction to Bora Bora, and a quick tour of the area by boat, pointing out restaurants, markets, places to dock our boat, etc. We arrived at the Villa, and Bellen gave us an extensive briefing on the property. Pictures don't really do this property justice - it is huge, and there are several gazebos, docks, beaches, tables, eating areas spread around it. The main living area is very large as well. There is a huge kitchen/bar area with seating around the kitchen. There is a stove, refrigerator, sink and a full supply of cooking utensils. The living room area is also very large, with 2 couches and 2 loveseats/chairs. There is beautiful artwork all around, shells, carvings, and other island art. The property came with it's own cat, Mitzi, that was the sweetest, friendliest cat I have ever encountered.
The sleeping accommodations are in 2 bungalows that I think came from the Old Bora Bora Hotel that was destroyed in a storm. Each has a lovely king size bed and bathroom. Although there is no air conditioning, there are fans provided, and we had no problems sleeping. One of the most memorable things is waking up at sunrise and hearing the waves breaking on the reef just outside the door. We fed the fish from the dock, and there was a small octopus that lived by the dock that ate every morning.
The small boat provided was adequate for trips to Vaitape for shopping as well as circling the island. If you crave adventure this is the place for you!

We stayed in august 2011 one week in villa ahuna with our 2 children. We found a beautiful villa with all equipments you need ( washing machine, freezer, a little motorboat for 4 people, refrigerator ) to have a comfortable stay. The 2 bedrooms are seperate bungalows and formerly belonged to the hotel bora bora and are very charming.
Everything was safe on the island, you can lock the bedrooms, refrigerator and you have 2 safes .
The location is perfect on the pass tevanua, you have motu tapu in front and the scenery mountain of BB aside. The beach is natural. Only a few people stay sometimes on the other side of motu ahuna, so you are alone on a tropical island. You can spend the day fishing, snorkeling, suntanning, reading, observing the ships entering the lagoon or just enjoying the beauty of BB. Taking the boat you reach vaitape in 10 minutes for shopping and you can discover all the fantastic places of BB by yourself. There were only a few mosquitos who bothered us. Everything in the villa was clean, but you have to know everything is open to nature, so you have to accept some little visitors, if you don`t like it, go to las vegas....
But the villa is built very stylish with a lot of good taste. You can compare it to north island on the seychelles. The sun is getting up behind the hills of BB and goes down to the ocean. These are the moments i will always remember.
The contact to the owner Tea Suchard and her family was very very warm. She took us from the airport, explained evertyhing on the island, invited us to her home, where we spend a wonderful afternoon, with her daugther Kohei, her father Erwin Christian and his wife Ahe.
After ahuna we stayed on the beautiful rohotu fare lodge and the luxurious four seasons and Tea took us to both hotels with her own boat complimentary.
Tea said we were the 2. guests on motu ahuna, she opened in 2010. A american couple stayed 4 weeks.
We are in close contact with her and her family and thank her for her everything
Motu Ahuna is a very special place on BB, you will find nothing comparable.
So if you dreaming of an extraordinary experience, don`t hesitate, go to villa ahuna and be happy, but keep an eye on the villa so we want to come again.
