About this house rental
Wonderful old style ocean side cottage with amazing canal and sunset views that feature an open floor plan ready for you and your family to enjoy and make memories. Pirates are my passion and so is making a comfortable place for you and your family to truly enjoy the serenity of Carolina Beach. From it's old fashion board walk to the close proximity to Wilmington everyone will find something that they love about coming to the beach! Just some of the amenities:
1. Enclosed Outdoor shower with HOT water!
2. Storage space downstairs - bring your bike! It also has a variety of beach essentials and toys.
3. Huge deck with great views of the canal. There is a picnic table for dinner or lunch and chairs for relaxing. The breeze is amazing.
4. Open living area with HUGE sectional sofa and dining for six. Look at the photos - it doesn't do it justice.
5. Expanded cable with Wireless Internet.
6. Open kitchen with stainless steel appliances.
7. Expanding pots and pans for cooking meals at home. Save $$$!
8. Front Porch to RELAX as the sunsets

Location is perfect - walkability score is 10/10. Quite neighborhood with friendly people. Home desperately needs deep cleaning and is in disrepair. It's neither attactive or comfortable. Couch is dirty & stained. Bathroom rugs were filthy. Walls, cabinets & doors are a mess. Bathroom fixtures are coming out of the wall. Water roaches were really bad.
Just very disappointed and cannot recommend.

I was able to text her my suggestions on improving the property. She was available and quick to respond.
We stayed here during the recent Tropical Storm Ophelia (?), 9/21/23, and while we were indoors for a couple of days, the place was insulated well, and it was pretty neat to listen to how the weather played out.
Keep in mind to those expecting a ‘castle’, that this property has more of the beach cottage vibe. It was what we wanted.
There were three adults and our mini dog, a service dog, and it helped having a washer n dryer on-site. The coffee and mini store behind this property, made me a couple great omelettes!

This property could not be more convenient to everything we needed. It is in a great location. We are a family of 4 plus our dog. Kids are 5 and 7. Beach access was so easy and the main drag/boardwalk are minutes away. The property provided everything we needed.

The location was amazing. Great views, short beach walk. CONS- The floors were swept but not mopped (kids feet were black after walking around) The couch was covered in white dog hair. Luckily I had enough sheets to cover it. All of the couch pillows were stained. I put all of them in the closet while we were there. I’m surprised more complaints weren’t made about the cleanliness. Fridge had smudges all over it, the bathroom smelt of urine and mildew. The shower curtain should be washed, and liner should be changed after a few stays to avoid the smell (you can see mold on the bottom of it) Also the washer does not fill up with enough water to wash a load.
The umbrella was broken. I asked the owner to please drop one off the next day. She asked if I could go buy one and she’d reimburse me. I ended up renting each day because it was easier. Also, it isn’t my job to run and get one for her to have for future guest. Unprofessional!
I chose this house so I wouldn’t have to bring beach toys or run out and “grab things” I have 2 small kids..
There were only 3 chairs provided for the beach. Only one was a “beach chair” the other 2 were wooden folding chairs. I could go on but you get the point. The house is probably cleaner now than it was before I got there. Been home for 2 days. My youngest daughter and I are both sick with the stomach bug. I assume it’s from the poor cleaning jobs that are done. Zero disinfecting or bleach used here. LAZY cleaner. Don’t recommend.

You cannot get a better location for the price. You can see the beach from the balcony and a corner store half a block away. Very quiet and safe neighborhood. Great house for small kids or babies.

The wrap around porch is amazing.
The packet that the owners send is slightly confusing. There is also a lot of what appears to be the owners items at the house which when having kids can make you nervous.

This was our second summer at the house. What can I say, “location, location, location”! The perfect breakfast spot on the corner. A two minute walk to the beach. We are definitely coming back for a third year.

Easy transaction. Simple directions and wealth of information about the locale area. only complaint is that the decking had several nails coming loose ( with toddlers hard on barefeet): restaurants in local area do not do take-out and we had a hard time finding food to go. owner indicated to bring own linens/ towels but there was plentiful at the residence. Great Great location. Very quiet ( soundproofed, didn't really hear the busy street).

Great location
The property was great! The best view for the morning sunrise and afternoon sunset across the sound. The porch was great eating breakfast and enjoying the views. Loved having a small local store in the backyard with anything you may need or forgot. Small walk to the beach and loved that it was with a lifeguard on duty each day.

Perfect Carolina Beach Retreat
Just returned from a great 3 night stay and it was perfect. I grew up going to the Carolina beaches and this place provided a classic beach house vibe! The porch was perfect for watching boats go by and feeling the afternoon breeze! Loved the huge couches. All the necessities were provided for a great day at the beach! Would 10/10 rent again!

Beach getaway
The process of renting was very smooth and easy. Communication great. The property itself needs some upgrade.
The front door was all rusted in and out, with big gap between the frames. It wasn't a good introduction to the property. The bolt hard to open or close. Inside, by garbage can the cabinet all dirty. The floors swept but dirty. The bedrooms clean, but a lot of dust under the beds. The part of guthers right by the deck hanging and missing.
There should be beach chairs in the shed, but just one and ready to give up. We had to rent the chairs and umbrella for the beach.
What the price we paid, it should be the beach view and better standard.
Overall the information of the property was misleading.
The pro for this rental was close to the beach.

Awesome location, ready to book my trip for next year
The location is great, lots of good places to eat and things to do within a very short drive. Super easy to walk right to the beach and the beach is beautiful and clean. The house is a great size we enjoyed our views from the porches. Couldn’t get the tv to work so we just went and bought a roku and signed in to our Netflix while we were there so we had background noise for our dog while we went down to the beach. Bonus that it’s pet friendly our boy loved his first beach trip! Thank you for letting us stay!

Loved the beach access of this home and that she supplied all the basics. Even had stuff you could use for the beach (tent, beach cart). It was definitely a home away from home . Only thing we had trouble with was non of the TVs in the house would connect to the cable . So we had no tv while there but oh well !

Amazing location, nice stay
We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment offers everything you could be looking for, especially the kitchen is very well equipped.
The location, just one block away from the beach is unbeatable. And the deck has been awesome to hang out in the mornings and at night as well. Especially since it has a gate, which allows toddlers and dogs to enjoy it freely too.

Great location and view
We had a lovely time in this property. The view across the street of the water (inlet/intracoastal) added a lot of charm. When you walk out the door and look left you can see the beach entrance. Can't see the ocean because of the dunes but you can smell the salt air. The home was cozy and easy to relax. Would definitely recommend.

After reading reviews of this place, we thought we couldn’t go wrong in booking it for our vacation but we were sadly disappointed. We travel with pets and are very clear about how many pets we have and even include info regarding their weights. I do NOT book places until I get the approval from the property manager. However, we were accused of not letting them know even after we sent screenshots of their approval as proof. We paid the agreed pet fee amount in full but the property mgr proceeded to charge us an extra pet fee plus additional for pet hair. We always try to leave our rentals in the condition it was in when we arrived. We made the beds, fluffed the bedroom pillows, couch pillows, took out the garbage, cleaned dishes, etc. We had more than one dog which they knew about so of course there would be some hair but nothing was left other than what a vacuum couldn’t take care of. Now, we could have vacuumed, but I thought that was what the cleaning fee AND pet fee was for. The property mgr was very unprofessional in dealing with this too.I have also never had to stay at a place where I had to bring our own bedsheets, pillows and towels. It was my fault for taking that luxury for granted I guess. (And maybe this was a new COVID rule which I would completely understand but there was no mention about new COVID rules). Luckily, I did have extra flat sheets I normally bring to cover things up to prevent dog hair going on places it shouldn’t be but had to use them for the beds instead. I used extra shirts I brought as pillow cases. I did later read in the very long welcome packet about how you need to bring your own. I would suggest maybe highlighting things guests need to bring with them.Upon taking my first shower, the shower curtain liner was not clean and grossed me out. I would’ve thought that would be something that is changed before new guests check in. I also did not bring a hair dryer but wish I would have because the dryer in cabinet was grimey and dusty and I don’t know when was the last time it was used. Luckily, I had alcohol wipes I wiped it down with which took off the stickiness dirt a bit but was definitely gross as my alcohol wipe was black after I wiped it down.Lamps in the bedrooms were so dusty, I don’t know the last time they’ve been cleaned either. I was really surprised at all this because the cleanliness rating of this place was high.Location was great but overall disappointed.

Great location with great views!!
We had such a great stay!!! The beach was so easy to get to, made quick trips with our 2.5 year old a breeze! The neighborhood was a great place to walk the dogs and the house had everything we needed! Our favorite part of the whole house was the deck, it was so spacious and cozy! Add in the view of the canal and sunset, it was perfect!! Would definetly stay here again!

we took a quick trip to Carolina Beach. This is by far my favorite beach. The house was absolutely amazing, location is great. The owner is quick to respond and wonderful to work with. Everything was clean abd really just perfect. I highly recommend!!

FABULOUS!!
The Pirate Pad was absolutely perfect!!!!! My husband, myself and our dog went for a long weekend and it was truly the perfect getaway we needed. SO close to the beach and overlooks the canal? on the back deck, loved having coffee every morning with that view. We can’t wait to go back!!!!

This house was absolutely perfect for our family (two teenage boys). I actually packed too much stuff because the house was stocked.
We enjoyed every night out on the porch, eating dinner, and watching the boats on the canal (even when it was raining). It was an easy walk to the beach, with an outdoor shower to rinse off when coming home.
We visited the local seafood market twice and loaded up, their scallops are amazing!
We had terrible weather and the house offered great reprieve. However, we visited the boardwalk every day, you MUST try Britt’s Donuts and Sea Witch at night for music and drinks. Island Burgers has the BEST burgers, don’t be fooled by gas station locale, it’s absolutely worth it!
We will be booking our vacation here again next year, we are so thankful to have found this little gem!

Happy Pirate Crew!
The Pirate Pad was the perfect place for me and four teen girls. The location to the beach is great. There’s public beach access within easy walking distance. We were concerned about crowds and having a private space was ideal! The beach was not very crowded compared to the area near the boardwalk. The house was comfortable and twin sheets fit nicely on the couch. The girls enjoyed the rooms while I was comfy on the couch. Sunset from the deck is amazing and the coffee next door is the best I’ve ever had! We will definitely be back.
