We really enjoyed our stay - lovely house in a brilliant location

Maison de Mathilde is the perfect village house in our favorite town in France. The home is beautifully furnished, the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare fresh food from the market. The charming backyard is ideal for morning coffee or enjoying a meal. And the location can't be beat; quiet street but an easy walk to every corner of Uzes. I hope we come back one day.

Perfect house for six mature friends. The stairs at some days were a bit of a challenge I fat besides that everything was perfect. Will be back to this great house and a perfect town. Couldn't have turned out better. Our only real challenge was locking and unlocking the front door.

Two weeks in Uzes
The beautiful village of Uzes is literally at your doorstep and we were glad to discover its Wednesday and Saturday markets, the cafes and restaurants, boulangeries, historic sites, lovely walks.
Maison de Mathilde is a comfortable home base for enjoying quiet days in town, in the refreshing pool, or exploring - Pont du Gard, Arles, Avignon, St Quentin la Poterie, the Camargue and more are just a short car ride away.
Definitely recommend!

Wonderful stay in a beautiful town.
The house is ideally situated in the center of Uzes. Absolutely charming town with so much to offer. We have a group of four people staying in for four nights. This is a memory that we will cherish. Madeline the manager is very easy to communicate to. Thanks again. We will be back.

This property was lovely, exactly as photos show and better. Proximity to center of town easy walk yet still quiet. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. And Madeleine, the property manager, was lovely and very helpful as well. Great village, great townhome, great stay.

Beautifully decorated town house right in the heart of Uzès
Fantastic location as a base for exploring the beautiful walled town of Uzès with its bustling markets, fabulous restaurants and beautiful shops and galleries. Nîmes is only a half hour drive away and the stunning Pont du Gard and its surrounding countryside is also unmissable. The house is well appointed and perfectly located in a quiet street in the heart of the old town. Would definitely recommend it to friends.

Love this place!!!
We stayed at Maison de Mathilde with our children and grandchildren for over a week and had a wonderful time! The pool was magnificent, we swam every day and enjoyed the garden. The location is perfect - easy walk to St Firmin or the market. Thankyou to Cathryn and Madeleine for making this an easy and relaxing holiday! We’ll be back!!

Lovely house, great location
We spent 10 wonderful days in this charming house. Beautifully furnished, accommodating 8 people very comfortably. Spacious bedrooms, modern appliances. The manager was on site to meet us and let us know that she was available at any time for any concerns or queries. Situated on a quiet cobbled street, only a few minutes walk into the town which has lots of cafés, boulangeries/pâtisseries, restaurants, à winery and a wonderful market twice a week. There are also lots of walks in the surrounding countryside with lovely views.
Very well situated to lots of attractions- Avignon, Nîmes, Pont du Gard, Carrières des Lumières and many beautiful villages.
We are looking forward to staying at Maison de Mathilde again very soon.

Perfect house to share with friends in Uzes
Looking for a home away from home in the South of France to share with friends?? Look no further than Maison de Mathilde in the most beautiful vibrant medieval village of Uzes. This charming 300 year old stone home is in a lovely cobbestoned street and only a 5 minute stroll to the Place du Herbes in the very centre of magic Uzes. The local Saturday market, recently awarded the best provincial market in France is held in the Place du Herbes every Saturday and it has to be seen to be believed. This house is perfect to share with friends as it has four good sized bedrooms over 2 floors that are all beautifully furnished and then the ground floor has an open plan cosy lounge and dining room adjoining the well stocked modern kitchen which opens straight onto a lovely outdoor dinning area. Did I mention the pretty garden swimming pool ??? With Uzes enjoying the typical long warm summers of the South having a private pool and separate air conditioners in every bedroom is a real asset. Combine the quality of the local produce with such a lovely home we find ourselves out and about exploring during the day then returning home to enjoy a home cooked meal at night. The best thing about Maison de Mathilde in Uzes is that your guests can simply walk out the front door and stroll around the ring road or town centre enjoying all the town has to offer and you don't need to get the car out. Uzes has numerous good restaurants, both fine dining and casual and so many interesting shops and art galleries that there is something for everyone. This was our fourth visit to Uzes, which we just love for its real French town authenticity and for its proximity to the surrounding rolling hills, vineyards and the best the South of France has to offer....Base yourself here and you will be far from the cruise ships and tourist buses and yet only 15 km to Pont -du-Gard, 25km to the beautiful Roman town of Nimes, 40 km to Avignon to visit the old Popes Palace, 45 km to Chateauneuf-du-Pape for wine tasting, 50 km to Orange to visit the amazing Roman Theatre, or perhaps do the 130km to Aix-en-provence ...all doable day trips. Needless to say I am a fan. This was our 4th trip to Uzes and to Maison de Mathilde...we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Magnificent Maison de Mathilde
My husband and I have just returned from our long awaited return visit to the magnificent Maison de Mathilde in Uzes. Our group stay was perfect and the house was able to accomodate the 6 of us effortlessly. Everything about the home oozes charm and comfort , Uzes is the perfect French market town , inviting the traveller to immerse themselves in the history , culture , food and wine of the region . Everything is within walking distance through the charming cobbled streets, and the kitchen is perfectly appointed for self catering local produce and dining in the poolside garden.
Vive La France and Maison de Mathilde !

Nothing will disappoint - except having to leave
We arrived at the idyllic village of Uzes after an easy and pleasant drive from Lyon airport. The town was more than l had hoped it would be - a traditional and authentic French village with lots of cafes, restaurants and shops. Maison De Mathilde is ideally located just off the main square with a short stroll to everything you need. There's even a movie theatre in the same street. The house was exactly as displayed on their website but even more beautiful and elegant. The kitchen was fully stocked, the bedrooms large and all bathrooms were modern & spacious. All linen was provided and were fresh, crisp and gorgeous. The house is beautifully furnished and wonderfully and authentically restored. The friendly house keeper met us with the key promptly and made it very clear we could call her at any time with any queries or concerns. We spent many afternoons in the swimming pool as we had a very hot spell in the 7 days we were there so it was a very popular spot after spending our days driving to local villages & attractions (Avignon, Nimes, St Remy, Pont Du Gard, Carrieres de Lumieres are all close by). There are many wonderful restaurants within a very short walking distance. None we visited disappointed and I would highly recommend them: Beca Vin, L'Artemise & Entraigues (rooftop) are all in gorgeous settings and the food was incredible. The local Sunday market is located right in the main square and should not be missed. We spent the day buying lots of fresh produce and then bringing it back to the house to BBQ. 4 couples or a family can easily stay here and be very comfortable. We would thoroughly recommend staying at Maison De Mathilde. The only negative was having to leave.

Oasis in Uzes
Four of us have just spent a gorgeous week at Maison de Mathilde in July 2017.
The house is spacious and beautifully renovated throughout, it is airconditioned, has good wifi, and a large kitchen with modern appliances, a nespresso pod machine and a dishwasher. There are four large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and downstairs is the perfect setting for entertaining or relaxing, double doors open onto the outdoor entertaining area, with BBQ and swimming pool. The perfect setting to relax and cool off after sightseeing, with great friends, food and wine.
The house is perfectly located on a pedestrian street only a few minutes’ walk from the shops and sights of Uzes; where you can walk to a local winery, fromagerie, boulangerie, amazing homewares and clothing boutiques and there are also many excellent bars and restaurants throughout the town. One of the highlights is the fresh produce market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Saturday market also has stalls selling clothing, plants and homewares.
The history of the village, is well preserved in the Duché palace, Cathedral and the Medieval garden and tower. The climb to the top of the tower rewards you with a fabulous view of the village and surrounding area. Just outside the village there is a lovely walk along the river where you can view the remnants of the ancient Roman Aqueduct.
We visited several places within a short drive of Uzes; the Pont du Gard, Nimes which has a Roman arena and Baux de Provence.
We loved our stay and highly recommend a visit to this beautiful part of France.

lovely, lovely place to stay
I had been to this area of Provence before but never to Uzes. A beautiful old town with every amenity and close to other places worth a visit. My 5 girlfriends and I stayed for 2 weeks in this wonderfully restored and comfortable old townhouse. Right in the centre of town so it was within walking distance of everything Uzes has to offer. We had masses of room, lovely bathrooms (except for the scary overhead shower in the 1st floor bathroom!), pretty garden, pool, outdoor area and well equipped kitchen. Absolutely everything you could wish for was there and, once we had worked out how to use the high tech oven, we did lots of cooking, wine drinking and relaxing either outside or at the roomy dining table inside. Thoroughly recommend it for a home away from home stay in this part of Provence.

Great house in a central location
Six girlfriends from Australia stayed at Maison de Mathilde for 2 weeks in September. The house is beautifully furnished and recently renovated to provide a level of comfort and luxury to compliment the wonderful delights of Uzes and surrounding areas. The house was a great size for our group of six, the bedrooms were large and all beds were very comfortable. A big modern kitchen well equipped kitchen, air-conditioning throughout, wi-fi and cable TV with a few english speaking channels. The outdoor entertaining area, pool and garden is a little oasis right in central Uzes! The local manager, Lucia, was there to welcome us and was on hand to provide information and support during our stay. A short walk done the street finds you in central Uzes with plenty of shops and restaurants, a travel information centre, cinema and a fantastic boulangerie, just around the corner. Plenty to see in Uzes on foot including the Duche Palace, markets and walks down to the river to see the remains of the Roman aqueduct. We loved to cook at home after buying beautiful fresh produce locally and then enjoying our evenings either at the door or indoor dining areas. Obviously the owners have put a lot of thought and effort into making Maison de Mathilde a delightful home away from home. Thanks to Toni and Judy for the information package and prompt response to queries before we went. I would highly recommend this property.
