About this house rental
Immerse in the splendor and beauty of Puget Sound during your stay at The Beach House!
With a fabulous location less than 2 hours from Seattle and 20 minutes from Olympia, the Beach House is located on Puget Sound's Oakland Bay, less than 2 miles from downtown Shelton, Washington. We are on the north side, making it easy to have a Starbucks in your hand in less than 5 minutes and just inside the delivery area for most restaurants offering delivery should you need a break from cooking.
The completely rebuilt Beach House is situated on the sun-drenched, southern facing side of Oakland Bay just inside Hammersley Inlet with commanding views. The home is new inside and out having been rebuilt in 2007, all inside furnishings brand new as of November 2016. The Beach House features an open floor plan with two bedrooms, one bathroom, totaling 950 square feet. House is on well water. Unobstructed views from every room (back bedroom has slight view). The home sits on a 212' ft bulkhead. Low bank water front. The home is perfect for a single family or a romantic couples get away.
Walk outside the two, double French doors onto the large deck and enjoy the 'outside living room' furnished with beautiful furniture, rugs, umbrella and a table fireplace. Barbecue from the deck as you enjoy the views or simply cook inside where the water is always in sight.
The Beach House features expansive outdoor spaces, both covered and sunny, with three different levels of yard. One level sits a patio table, chairs and umbrella for alfresco dining. There is a lounging area with two lounge chairs. Children can reach a lower level with the custom made 14 foot slide from the deck.
Our home is popular with seniors as there are no stairs to get to or inside of the home. The only stairs (about 20) which are easy to navigate, are to the lower yards and beach.
The beach is ever changing with the tides. Tide change can fluctuate up to 16 feet, but the current is almost nonexistent on this side of the bay, allowing us the pleasure of a floating dock year round.
The Beach House is located on a private beach. Each home owns their tidelands. We are the last house on the beach, so you’ll likely see more sea life than another human. A short beach walk toward the marina and you’ll be able to find oysters. Enjoy beach combing, bird-watching and wildlife viewing, including bald eagles that reside a few trees down, deer, blue heron, harbor seals, rabbits and raccoons.
If you're really lucky, you'll spot the pod of 4 Orca whales that pass through occasionally. Lately we've had the pleasure of watching a couple porpoises. On sunny days you can see the top of Mt. Rainer.
Historical Shelton and the surrounding areas offer plenty for everyone. Experience Mother Nature fishing, hiking, or visit the Olympic National Forest less than 45 minutes away. If staying put is what you like, our historical town has an old fashion drive-in theater, quaint boutique shops and even a casino for those feeling lucky! Children will love the playground at Kneeland Park.
There are also several great golf courses nearby. A local visitors guide at the home gives you plenty of great ideas to do during your stay.
**Please note, we rent our home for others to enjoy for a short period each year. We hope you have the opportunity to stay and enjoy it as much as we do. Please keep in mind this is a home and not a sterile square hotel room, as perfect as we think it is, it is a home all the same. If perfection is your cup of tea, our home probably isn’t the fit for you.
Any questions, please ask 253. 961. 3116 we’re happy to help!

Had a great time here for a long weekend with the family. It is close to the road but once you are in the property everything focused on the sound. We spent our time swimming and paddle boarding and enjoyed ourselves.
Would certainly recommend.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful!!! So private and cute! Just what we needed to rest and rejuvenate. We have a water view in Tacoma but this was something different this was Ahhhhh. We will return again in nicer weather to enjoy the deck.

This house was an amazing, peaceful stay. Waking up to the views of the bay and hills, plus the wildlife watching was perfect. We saw harbor seals and hummingbirds every day, deer, jelly fish, crabs and ducks. The patios are cozy.
The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with anything you need. We were welcomed with a goody bag of wine, chocolate covered pretzels, sparkling juice, and a giant cupcake which was perfect for my husband’s birthday.
The only downside was the bathroom space is small and it’s well water, smelled like sulfur and this city girl couldn’t get used to it.
The driveway was intimidating, having to back down while avoiding oncoming traffic but once you figure out the right angle it’s easy. The privacy is worth it. Loved this rental!!

We had an great time at this beach house! The mesmerizing views and great outdoor area made it a perfect family vacation. The thoughtful touches throughout the property added to the cozy ambiance, making us feel right at home. The spacious outdoor patio was a favorite spot to relax and enjoy the stunning coastline. We would definitely stay again.

A beautiful house right on the water, with well thought out amenities. We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the views of the water.
We would definitely recommend this rental to others -- it is well appointed and cared for.
One note -- there is definite road noise and the driveway back in does take some getting used to. For us, the road noise eventually just became part of the background and with practice, backing into the driveway was no problem.

My sister and I stayed here while I visited her from MI. She lives in nearby Olympia. The house was right on the water as pictured. It was very clean and cozy. The outdoor space was perfect for enjoying the weather and we were able to watch seals swim and even had an eagle doing fly-bys. The driveway is tricky to pull out of because the house sits right around a turn in the road making it difficult to see oncoming traffic. Backing in is easy after the first time, but if you are a very timid driver or hate the thought of backing in, this may not be the place for you. There is road noise all day and night because of how close it sits to the road, but for us, the view and accommodations made up for that. I would stay here again.

My friend and I had an absolutely wonderful week in the Beach House cottage. It was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds and linens were comfortable and the place was very clean. The decks were great for having a cocktail and snack at the end of the day with a view of the water that can't be beat. We did day trips around the Olympic Peninsula and even spent one night over on the west side at Fork so we could do the Hoh Rainforest and Rialto and Ruby Beaches which are all a 5 hour plus drive. The owner was responsive to any questions and had several welcoming touches. It was a super week and we were even treated to a full moon and a Mt. Rainier sighting from the deck!

Stacy & James' House is an absolute ESCAPE from everyday life. From the View...IMPECCABLE, the linens are the best I've ever slept on and sat on, more than enough space to relax, unwind, visit with friends, let the kids roam and you cannot escape the view even if you tried.
We brought my 90 year old Grandmother by for a couple of hours and she said "I could stay here forever".
Thank you both for all your advice, thoughtfulness and quick response while we stayed in your Beach House.
Love, The Wright Family

My wife and I stayed here with our two kids and we loved it. The house it very nice, super clean, and has everything we needed. We spent most of our time, however, outside in the beautiful tiered yard. Plenty of space to relax, play in the water, look for wildlife, and the kids loved the slide!
The hosts are so nice and helpful..we definitely will try to make a return trip. Thanks for everything!

We spent a week here while exploring Olympic National Park and it was absolutely fabulous. The property was amazing and our host Stacy's personal touches were everywhere. The terraced balcony was a great spot for outdoor dining and morning coffee (we even saw some otters!), the kids had a blast swimming right outside. We fell in love with the area and most definitely would return and stay again. 5 Stars all the way!

We booked a few months ahead, obviously not knowing the region would get a foot of snow within a day. There are many mentions of the driveway being kind of sketchy, I would say on a clear day it is completely manageable. When there is 1 foot of snow, bring yourself prepared with proper vehicle and equipment.
Inside the house is quite comfortable with all the entertainment and amenities needed. If lacking, the drive to town is quick.
The view is awesome, the outdoor equipment is obviously not meant for a snowstorm, so i cannot comment on it during fair weather. Although there was a gas fire pit and I brought my own xmas lights. When the kid went to bed my wife and I watched the snow fall and was very pleasant! They have an interesting array of outdoor lighting which helped the mood. The bird feeder situation was also a bonus, watching spoiled birds come back for more was fun for our kid!
Pro-tip; * BYO gallon of drinking water per day *Bring Quarters for the candy machine if your have a kid *Bring Earplugs if your a light sleeper (it is right on hwy3) *BYO xmas lights, its a trick of mine i always bring everywhere that wife's are impressed by. *If it snows like crazy, know what your doing, park behind the gate to make a dry spot in the snow so you can back up and open it, and then get traction to tear out onto the main road.* probably because of the weight of the snow on the tree, but my 4runner got covered in tree sap, so dont park your prized million dollar Ferrari under it.
0 5 stars. Thanks guys.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stacy and Jim’s beach house. The love they pour into their home was obvious from the moment we walked through the door. The size and layout was perfect for our little family of three. The world disappeared as we took in the expansive views over Oakland Bay.
Nestled not far from the Olympics in a less populated area of Washington, we had nearly unlimited access to natural beauty. We took a couple of trips with our toddler to explore the pristine woods and water.
This was the quarantine getaway we needed! Thank you!

A much needed getaway in an adorable waterfront cottage. Beautifully decorated and well appointed with everything you need! Hospitality is off the chart! Beautiful water view while also watching the seals, eagles, jumping salmon and a glimpse of Mt Rainer! Perfect for a couple, small family or a few girlfriends. 😁

the entire experience was very easy and Stacy was very accommodating. The only concern was getting in and out of the property. Just need to be very careful!!! The blind corner can be very dangerous, we almost got hit. Best you use a turnout down the way to turnaround. To head back into Shelton. Don't let that deter you away from the property.Jenine
