ABOUT THE WATER ~~
Shore Lane Beach House is located on the east side of Oakland Bay (which is just south of Hood Canal). Look across the water and see the city of Shelton - the lights are beautiful at night. Saunter down a few stairs to the beach which is great fun to beach comb any time of year. You'll see playful seals frolicking and salmon jumping in the water. At high tide, you can catch fish off the lower deck or simply cast from shore and reel them in! The water is surprisingly warm in summer. You can swim, or just sit with feet in the water, face in the sun for a truly Northwest Puget Sound experience. In winter it is just beautiful. You can even kayak on the calm waters of Oakland Bay.
THINGS TO DO ~~
Shelton and the surrounding areas offer plenty to do for everyone. The covered deck is the perfect spot to enjoy the winter waters - just bundle up if it's chilly. Or build a campfire right in the back yard and take in the view. Take a walk up the beach for an hour and you won't see any houses, just the wonders of nature. Experience fishing, wildlife viewing, or visit the Olympic National Rainforest Park.
Perhaps you'd like to catch a flick at the drive-in movie theater, try your luck at the Little Creek Casino, take the family out to eat, or enjoy Kneeland Park with its gigantic playground, grassy areas and beautiful picnic shelter.
Now, if GOLF is your game, you will not be disappointed. Truly test your skill at the prestigious Alderbrook, Gold Mountain, or Trophy Lake golf courses, all 20 to 35 miles from Shore Lane Beach House.
Don't miss the beautiful heated private community pool. It is open all summer (nominal daily fee) for guests of Shore Lane Beach House to use. It's just 2/3 mile away!

4 of us over 70 year olds stayed for 5 nights. only minor problems were the steepness of the stairs, bad knees made them somewhat difficult. And a card table would have been nice for the 2000 piece jig saw that ended up on the dinning room table. We loved the location and the house.

Our family enjoyed our stay. There is some construction next door, but very little work while we were here; that will end when it is completed. About 30 minutes from Shelton. Make sure to read the fine print (i.e. You can be charged $25 for leaving a window open or unlocked). We would come back.

We loved looking out to the water every morning and evening to this amazing setting!

Super quiet neighborhood and a gorgeous house. The kitchen was well stocked. The house was immaculate. The fire pit and the little beach area were highlights for the kids. If we could go to this place every year we would.

Quiet area, great place for family. Great views for sunsets and sea life.

Upon arrival house is clean and inviting. Kitchen well stocked with pans, baking dishes, gadgets, dinnerware, etc. Plenty of bathroom towels etc. Bed comfy.
Owner replied quickly when contacted. Would use again in the winter. To many stairs for us to use in summer when you would want water/beach access.

We were in Shelton for my mother’s memorial service. The house was very comfortable.. allowed for our family to spend time together and begin healing.. everything was so nice and calming! Thank you

This home was perfect for our trip to the Pacific Northwest.
This was the cleanest property we have ever visited and was exactly as described. The home was well stocked with items we would need in the kitchen and laundry, which was greatly appreciated, as we had a long flight and were in a new time zone when we finally got to the property.
Our rooms were warm and cozy, and the wall heaters and extra blankets kept us comfortable as the outside temps dropped
The neighborhood was totally quiet and the home was easy to access.
We couldn’t recommend this home more highly.

We had a wonderful stay at Agate. The house was clean and orderly with many big and small amenities provided. The views of the sound are remarkable! We loved the fire pit space and all of the porches/decks. We saw a deer on the beach our first day and saw several seals in the water throughout our stay. The house is about 15 minutes to “town” but the drive is so beautiful, it goes by quickly. My only negative is that it seemed to be spider season. There were none inside or outside when we arrived but throughout our stay, we’d wake up to massive spider webs, mostly outside. But the next day, they’d be gone. I’d highly recommend this spot for a wonderful stay!

Nice location on the waterfront with good outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy our visit. The property had a nice fire pit that came in handy for a couple of cool nights, and two covered porches with views of the bay were great to be outside but out of the weather.
Nice amenities inside for preparing meals and dine.
Only drawback was the main bedrooms mattresses are aged and need replacing.

We had just the best time together at this dutiful home. It had everything we needed to enjoy each other and the great PNW.

Pleasant peaceful neighborhood with privacy, loved having 3 different decks to view the waterfront, watched harbor seals swim by several times during our stay. The property felt very comfortable and homey, with nice personal touches like cozy blankets to wrap up in watching the evening sunset or early morning sunrise, highly recommend!

Everything as stated in their listing. Spacious living space, comfortable seating, clean and comfy. Property manager was “Jill on-the-spot” when we couldn’t download the combo to get in even though she was out of state. Hopefully we can stay the again in the near future.

This was our second time in this home. We watched beautiful sunsets over the Bay from the deck while enjoying good conversation and a glass of wine. I have an adult son with autism and it was wonderful for him as well as his sister and I for him to have his own space. The set up of the house is three floors and he got to use the bottom floor which opens out onto a small yard that leads down to the beach. He had the quiet he needed and the space to build Legos and play video games.

When we first got to the property the house was great and it had a good view of the water. When you walk in it looks great but notice the steep stairwell right by the kitchen.
Without having a baby gate, you have to constantly keep an eye on the babies or keep them cooped up in a playpen
The beach was a little hard to get down to for my pregnant wife, since there is a row of boulders you have to walk down and either jump down or climb down. Minor inconvenience but figure it would be good to mention.
The kitchen was stocked fairly well in terms of utensils and even had some basic necessity like salt and pepper and sugar. The cupboards where the pans were wasnt cleaned very well at all, and was off-putting when we were checking everything out.
The rest of the house was fine in terms of cleanliness and was very happy to not find any bugs or spiders in the house.
The outside firepit was nice to have, and the deck leading down to the water front was nice to have too. I would have liked if there was a bench down there or something to sit on and watch the water. The outside chairs were covered with spider webs and spiders/eggs. I would suggest maybe some folding chairs in the downstairs area we could take out as needed?
The property manager was very quick to reply to my inquiries and was very accommodating allowing an early check in, and company to visit.
Beds were comfortable, chairs were comfortable, adequate toilet paper and paper towels, and other necessities.
The location in general made it a little out of the way as expected, as the agate store is the closest one and while it has things you would need, being a convenience store it's very overpriced and it's a decent drive to get anywhere else to buy groceries. Would definitely not recommend walking to the store or anything because of the roads. Would be dangerous with the winding roads with no side walks.
Overall I definitely recommend staying here, just be sure to bring a baby gate if youre bringing a crawling / walking toddler.
Some items they had for use include: Coffee maker (with filters), toaster, dishwasher, over range microwave, full refrigerator that works well, as well as a built in icemaker in the freezer, some pots and pans, measuring cups, silverware, small highchair in the closet, extra linens, throw blankets in the ottomans in livingroom, propane bbq with necessary utensils (though one of the "burners" wouldn't light), firepit with nearby hose, and outdoor chairs.

This was a nice home on the sound, very nice views of the water, and was clean. Our downside was the location. It’s very remote, you cannot run to the store if you need something quickly, and we have a daughter with health issues and the drive to get to help would be longer than we were comfortable with so know that it’s out there.

Agate beach house location was perfect for my family. Plenty of room to visit without feeling like everyone was crowding each other. Enjoyed spending time down on the beach and watching wildlife (sea otters and bald eagles).

If it wouldn’t have rained every day, it would have been great….
