About this house rental
One of West Maui's most exclusive legally permitted rental properties, the Makena Aloha Estate offers exceptional ocean and mountain views, with gated exclusive privacy and seclusion. With 4,400 square feet of interior dwelling space, this magnificent retreat rests on 4 acres of plush landscape, complete with over 30,000 square feet of freshly planted seasonal fruits and coffee trees. Massive lawn areas drape the main house and cottage, and provide ample grounds for children to run and play. Children are loved and welcome! We have provided an outdoor hammock to relax on, propane tiki torches, and a large outdoor table for family meals. Walk amidst the outdoor collection of mature local foliage: plumeria trees, natal plum, coconut palms. Nestled at the foot of the West Maui mountains, with views of the islands of Moloka’i and Lana’i, spacious Makena Aloha Estate can host your 10 guests comfortably within its 3 bedroom main house and 2 bedroom cottage.
The main house has 3 spacious bedrooms, 4 bathrooms. There’s an extra room adjacent to the master bedroom, perfect for a small child. The master bedroom retreat has a separate entrance and a spacious bathroom with a large open walk-in shower, rain showerhead, hand held device, jacuzzi tub, and double vanity sinks. The custom gourmet kitchen is complete with reverse osmosis system, Vita Mix machine, espresso maker and double ovens. Relax around the outdoor pool and jacuzzi spa at the main house. Pool heating is available for only $300/day extra.
Makena Cottage is a detached two-bedroom (Queen bed and Full bed), one-bathroom cottage, complete with its own outdoor table and BBQ grill. Use of the cottage allows additional capabilities for a larger group, while still preserving a sense of privacy amidst a large estate.

The home was OK but not quite as expected. There is a view of the ocean but only if you’re standing up. The hedge should be lowered in order to see the view. The owner has locked what we think is a pantry so we had no where to store our dry food. We had to use a corner of the kitchen to stack everything. Very tacky for what we paid and it looked ridiculous. We have rented homes on the island before so we are well of the bug situation. However, what we weren’t prepared for was several tack strips throughout the home with one in the living area with a dead rat on it. Our 3 year old found it as we were watching the T.V. Also, there was not at vacuum. We only found a small dust buster that didn’t work because it was missing a filter. I don’t think the Ohana or guest house was represented correctly. It was quite a distance from the house and a little inconvenient. Every other home we rented has been right next to the home or attached. The rental agency was very responsive when we had issues which we appreciated. I feel we would not rent this house again but I would recommend this home to others as long as they were aware of my concerns.

Our family of nine LOVED our stay at Makena Aloha Estate. We searched long and hard for just the perfect location for our multi-generational stay. Even though we were here amidst what became the beginning of the global coronavirus pandemic, it was relatively easy to forget about the world's fears and relax in this amazing location. Our children loved playing in the orchards and of course the pool, and we all enjoyed the delicious bounty of that orchard. The view is amazing and the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, but you are only 15 minutes from pretty much everything Lahaina has to offer. Our grandparents were able to stay in Makena Cottage and come and go from the frenetic grandchildren's action as they pleased. The property is stocked with pretty much everything you need. Even little touches like having a WiFi accessible printer where we could take care of boarding passes or other little things were great.
Last but not least, the manager Tina was a joy to work with. We didn't have any *problems* to report really, but we connected here and there to discuss the logistics of various things and a few questions. She was always extremely pleasant and extremely responsive via texts, which made things easy. For that matter, all the staff we interacted with during the process of booking and preparing for this trip were extremely responsive and helpful.
We would absolutely stay at Makena Aloha Estate again. My only hesitation in writing this review is that my positive comments might make it harder for me to book the property in the future. But, in this case they absolutely deserve it, so I'll take my chances!

Our stay at this Launiupoko property was a great experience. It was our first family reunion with our adult children since Covid and it was important to us to have a special place to stay. Importantly, the house and grounds were as described in VRBO and we were pleased with many aspects. Some highlights for us were:
1. Ample space and bedrooms for our party of 8
2. Clean
3. Good beds and bedding
4. Fantastic outdoor space with pool, jacuzzi, dining area, grill, abundant tropical fruit trees, and amazing sunsets
5. Convenient access to restaurants/shops/marina in Lahaina and Kaanapali.
6. Close to beautiful west Maui beaches for snorkeling/surfing.
7. Well equipped kitchen stocked with basics that you will need.
8. Good HVAC - cools well and in reasonable time when afternoon sun heats up the house.
9. Very secure in quiet neighborhood with gated access
We have stayed in VRBO properties throughout the world and overall this is one of the best homes we have stayed in. Kudos to the management team.

We had a wonderful vacation with a fantastic location and home. However, if I had to mention something comparing to the 3 other homes we stayed in the same area in the past, it would be the fact that this house is old, and despite the great location, the hedge on the other side of the swimming pool and the wooden fence with some plants are blocking the beautiful view, which is unfortunate.

There were 6 adults, 2 18yr olds, and a 16 ye old. There was plenty of room with the guest house. Beautiful home and property!
Loved the pool!
My mom didn't want to do the road to Hana or any hiking. She stayed back and loved relaxung by the pool. I would definitely recommend. :)

It is a beautiful villa set in a nice and quiet location and yet very close Lahaina, Kaanapali and many other beaches and amenities. We all love the pool,, the Sap, the ground and the orchard. However a few thing were missing which could have made ouyr vacation more peasant:We were told at the time of booking that heating the pool will cost $200 per day but when we asked to heat the pool we were told it will be $300 per day - no if and buts. There were two umbrella-stands beside the pool but there were no umbrellas for a bit of shade for the kids. Outdoor dinning chairs, most of them had no cushions and thus very hard for sitting for 2 to 3 hours for lunch and dinners. There were a very few or no hangers in the closets. Sliding doors in the main villa were very hard to slide - they need some oiling or cleaning. Light outside the Gust Cottage stayed on all night thus making it difficult to sleep in one of the rooms. Parts of the lawn were always wet and muddy and so when the kids came back after running around, their shoes will be all muddy and we. There were lots of bugs and critters in both the houses and not very clean.These are honest feedback to help you make the villa more attractive so please take them in that context.

Best of everything in this house...amazing, relaxing views with access to good walks and hikes. Sat back and watched whales jump all day...can't complain. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could need and hosts were super responsive and helpful.

We rented this property for 5 nights during the Christmas break. We loved how it was out of the hustle and bustle of the typical Maui tourist areas. Very quiet on a residential street, with excellent privacy. We were lucky as the citrus trees on the property were producing excellent fresh fruit that we enjoyed. The pool is the perfect size to enjoy and the sunsets out the back windows were tremendous.

Lovely house and location
The property is great and the checkin process was easy.
We loved the location and the pool and spa. We did not use one of the bedrooms which adjoins the master bathroom. This would be ideal for a child but I think maybe why 8 people is a maximum even though there are technically 5 bedrooms.

Makena Aloha Estate will be remembered in our family!
Our family (and friends who are family) all stayed on the property for 2 weeks. This trip was to be our first family vacation; where my wife and I were to have our wedding on a beach at sunset with our kids and family and closest friends all attending.
Let me say Makena Aloha made it SO SPECIAL! This beautiful property was perfectly maintained and so private it gives the soul a place to really relax. Unlike a hotel or condo here you can really breathe deep relaxation here because of the solitude. The area is amazing and the view is ok but the gardening has grown up a bit since the pictures and makes the view hard to see unless standing.
We loved the house like it was our very own and was very respectful of the owners furnishings and amazing opportunity to stay there. The kids and adults alike were almost sick with the thought of leaving. This is truly a magical place! It’s much more than a house it’s an experience that reveals itself to you in a thousand different ways as you spend time there. I can speak for my whole party who stayed there. WE FELL IN LOVE

This was the best family vacation EVER! Our family of 10 adults and 1 toddler enjoyed every moment. The house was beautifully appointed and very clean. We were greeted by Tina M., the property manager, who was available throughout our vacation to answer any questions that came up about the house or where we could find the best pizza. She was super responsive to our queries. The house and cottage had everything and anything we needed except the groceries and libations. :) The beautiful pool and spa were used daily by our crew. Our 18 month old grandson was very comfortable in the house. Everything that was needed for a little one was provided. The location was amazing, just up the road from the Launiupoko Beach and close to Lahaina with so much to see and do. Whale watching was a huge hit for everyone. We played golf in Kapalua. We zip lined with Skyline Eco-Adventures near Haleakala. Highly recommend! Our crew had an amazing adventure. We truly enjoyed Fleetwood's on Front Street in Lahaina for sunset dining, as well Mala's on Front Street was excellent. I highly recommend this property for family gatherings! Mahalo.

The location was not on the beach but for the price and quality of house you could not do better. We had no problems getting anywhere we needed to go in just a few minutes . Perfect Maui Home
If you are looking for a larger home in Maui this is a GREAT option. Located just a few minutes south of Lahaina, just up the hill from Launiupoko Beach, a great beginner surf break. The house has gated access, pool, ocean views and excellent privacy. This property also has a main house...and a guest house making it perfect for larger groups. The main house has a total of 5 bedrooms (listing description was a bit vague so hopefully this will add some clarification) there are two rooms that have a queen bed, one room that has a bunk with double bed on bottom and single bed on top. The master has a king bed and the fifth bedroom is actually off of the master bath...that room is also a double bed. For someone that isn’t looking for complete privacy in the master the fifth room could easily be used for additional space. The guest house also offers two rooms each with a double bed and also has a pull out sofa sleeper, kitchen and bathroom with shower. The entire property is well kept, conveniently located on the west shore and is an excellent value. I would highly recommend staying here!

This is the first time we've stayed in a place like this... and we are ruined for life!! We'll never do it different! Its has everything like a hotel does (so you only need your clothes) but you can buy groceries and cook just like you were home! It has everything it states (including the fruit orchard), located up the hill from Front street, and the property managers responded by text to even the smallest thing (smoke detector beeping - came in an hour to replace the batteries). Loved the pool and hot tub facing the water... we spent plenty of time staring and dreaming!! We'll be back and I have plenty of nursing friends who have heard all about it and are going to keep it as an option when they visit next!! Excellent experience for our 3 generations... beds for everyone!! Can't say enough good.

Arrived after dark so quite an experience to wake up to paradise. Very private, un-restricted ocean view. One level ranch home made it easy for my elderly mother to enjoy. Close to beach. Boogie boards, towels, beach chairs and cooler supplied making it easy to enjoy the beach. Short drive to old town Lahina my favorite. Comfortable beds, well appointed kitchen. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The guest house was very nice and had an easy short path to the big house. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Makena Aloha Estate. We loved the pool, hot tub and yard. The views are gorgeous! Very private and away from the crowds of Lahaina yet close enough to get anywhere quickly. Wonderful house and cottage with plenty of room for our family of 13. Would definitely stay here again.

This house is absolutely amazing. The views, pool, master bath will al take your breath away. We had 9 people staying at the house including 2 little kids. All had a wonderful time. The house is located on a quiet street with hardly any car traffic and is a very large property, very private.
