About this cottage rental
We are now taking reservations for Summer!
We hired a new cleaning service after a difficult summer in 2020 and guests have been happy with the results. The cottage is cleaned and disinfected between guests.
Our cottage is an Eastlake Victorian built in 1885. It is quite spacious with larger rooms than many cottages. The screened in wrap around porch provides bug free evenings of relaxation and conversation.. The cottage is located three houses toward the River from the Tabernacle. We have parking for two cars directly behind the cottage. Additional visitors may park their cars at the Tabernacle Parking lot. The beds are comfortable. Ceiling fans in the kitchen and the living room and fans for bedrooms should they be needed.
Thousand Island Park, established in 1875, is a Victorian Community on Wellesley Island in the heart of 1000 Islands on the St. Lawrence River. The Victorian homes retain the timeless charm of earlier days celebrating family togetherness and soft summer memories. . The Tabernacle which was originally the heart of the Park, has a Catholic Service at 8am and a Protestant Service at 10am each Sunday. The Tabernacle also doubles for live musical performances as well as movies MWF, free of charge(just bring a can of food for the homeless). Often there are children's art camps and activities during the week. There are speakers and entertainment on special occasions open to all.
Children 6/7 and older have weekly supervised games of softball, kickball, and soccer on the Green at the Four Corners.
Access to the Island is over an International Bridge. The Bridge is from the mainland of New York State and connects on the other side of the island to Canada. The Wellesley Hotel, a block from the cottage, serves excellent nightly meals. A small cafe below the main dining room, called The Pub, often provides entertainment by local musicians. Light foods are also available.
Your cottage is located on the main street within easy walking distance to all amenities of the Park.
A LARGE SCREENED IN WRAP AROUND PORCH provides a distant view of the St. Lawrence with rocking chairs, a glider, a swing, and a picnic table for meals or games. The porch is an ideal place to read, chat, or just relax and enjoy the serenity of TI Park.
We have five comfortable bedrooms (two King beds, two Queens, and a Double). A landing at the top of the stairs has two twin beds. The cottage comfortably sleeps nine. The first floor features a living room, dining room, den(with a futon), a half bath, with a washer and dryer. The kitchen has all the utensils for cooking, complete with staples, and a pantry for your groceries.
YOU WON'T FEEL CROWDED IN THIS COTTAGE...a spacious, comfortable interior awaits you.
A new rule of the Corporation prevents parking in front of cottages on St. Lawrence Ave. Therein lies a great advantage to our cottage, which has parking directly behind the back entrance to the cottage. You will not have to park in a distant lot and trek items to your cottage.

Great location, spacious porch, plenty of room for families, good WiFi, and responsive hosts.

This is a large house with a wonderfully relaxing and comfortable front screened in porch. Easy walk to the pier, cove and the guzzle. Everything we needed for a relaxing summer break with our family.
8.0 / 10.0
The Drake Cottage is a 2 minute walk to the Guzzle and Hotel/Pub for food, drinks and games, tennis courts, and the community lawn/playground, and 5 minute walk to the Pavilion and public swimming/boat docks. Wonderful location for long walks, runs and bike riding. Spent most of our time in the home on the large screened in porch. Plenty of space for our two families to relax. The home is dated and in need of some furniture and decor updates to increase appeal and comfort. Owners are very responsive.

The overall experience with the VRBO rental was disappointing. It would certainly be our last choice. The cottage had numerous issues that made it not worth the price; it is a very old property and poorly maintained. Despite being charged a cleaning fee, the place was so dirty that when we vacuumed it ourselves, the dirt container almost filled up. Moreover, one of the two toilets in the cottage was non-functional. Although the host sent over people to try and fix it, the issue was never resolved. The kitchen knives were so old and dull as to be unusable for preparing meals. We actually went and bought a kitchen knife and a non-stick pan because the pans there were so old that food got stuck and required vigorous scrubbing. In short, this cottage and its contents need to be updated. It is seriously outdated and dingy. Another distressing issue was that upon our check-in, we discovered there were no linens or towels provided. When we reached out to the host, she mentioned that the listing had stated there would be no linens or towels, but she never responded when we asked her to show us where it was mentioned; it was not mentioned anywhere in the listing or any communication we received.
On the positive side, the location was good and the WIFI worked well.
After we checked out, we received $200 refund from the host but without any explanation!

My family of 5 had a wonderful stay at the Drake cottage. Location is amazing! Walked to the Wellesley Hotel for dinner had several late night ice creams at the Guzzle and just enjoyed walking the side streets admiring all the beautiful cottages! We would definitely return! Hosts were very easy to get a hold of, though truly we had no issue to call them.

Love staying in this charming laid back house, with lots of room for the whole extended family. The large porch is where we spent all our time.

Overall, we were disappointed with our stay in the Drake Cottage. The location in Thousand Island Park is great – close to the water and park – but the cottage itself was dirty and shabby. It seemed like it had not been cleaned for a long time. When we arrived there was trash on the floor of one of the bedrooms, a dirty underwear stuck behind a dresser, and prominent toothpaste stains on the shelf in the bathroom. We almost left, but Nate, the owner, was understanding and sent the cleaning service which arrived midway through our stay (who confirmed that the place was extremely dirty). The floors have not been washed in years, the banisters and pretty much every surface in the place was sticky. The netting in front of the windows was filthy, dressers did not have knobs to open drawers, half of the blinds were broken and full of dust. We are not clean freaks, but we are all a little grossed out. The utensils in the kitchen were all sticky and dusty. The décor speaks of another time and was quite unique, but with a fair amount of broken furniture and equipment (ie broken fans) and damaged floors, it too often felt just badly maintained, stuffy and just dirty. The kitchen had interesting utensils, but no-one took the time to organize them. The whole place had the feeling of one of those cottages you can use when you’re hiking, where no-one cleans ever and you’re just supposed to leave it clean when you leave. Part of this might be due to the pandemic, because the owners were stuck in California and could not come, but we felt for $300/night this is kind of ridiculous. On the plus side, we were able to bring our two dogs, and the front porch has a lot of potential, if someone would repair the ripped cushions and get rid of the broken furniture that is stored there. To sum it up, we all feel like the Drake Cottage is badly in need of a major overhaul to turn it into the vacation spot it promises to be.

We've spent a lot of time at T I Park, and the Drake Cottage was a great spot for a family gathering! The location is ideal, situated a short walk to the Guzzle, playground, & the Pavilion. With five bedrooms and a large screened porch, there was plenty of room for everyone. It has everything you need, including laundry and parking for two cars directly in back of the cottage. Nate was responsive and easy to work without. We definitely recommend this cottage, especially for families!

Our family decided to get away and needed a place that was following COVID protocols and this house and town was a perfect fit! The community was very respectful of mask and social distancing practices. We felt comfortable letting our kids roam and explore. We all enjoyed the beach, jumping off the pavilion, kayaking, picnic dinners in the park, and bird watching.
The house WiFi was perfect for the remote work my husband and I had to do. The porch was a perfect place to enjoy a cool breeze as we were visiting during 90 degree weather.
The owner was thoroughly responsive and made himself very available over text.

We have been going to T.I.P. for as long as I can remember for summer vacations, the last few years at the Drake Cottage. The whole environment (cottage + park) is very nice and relaxing. The only thing I find lacking in the cottage is a direct view of the channel (I'm a ship fan), but one can't have everything. The main dock is just a couple of minute walk away.

The beds are comfortable, the screened in porch is the best! The house has a lot of character. Thousand Island Park is a step back in time. It is a very safe and comfortable place to stay and visit. My family would return here again!

Thousand Island Park is a nice relaxing place to rest. We enjoyed sitting on the Adirondack chairs along the river in Clayton. Alex Bay also was a nice place to visit.

We have stayed at this house for the past 4 yrs and it has help build lasting memories each year. A great porch to hang out and do puzzles, chat and watch people go by. Great location can walk to Guzzle for ice cream or penny candy, walk to playground, walk to the Tabernacle for movie night or weekend mass, walk down to the dock for a swim, bike to Tennis courts for a game of Tennis. The house has all the basics you need for a great vacation. We are looking forward to our 2 wk stay this coming summer 2012. The owner is is very helpful with any questions and concerns. Great for families!

Our extended family has been vacationing in Thousand Island Park for nearly 20 years, many of those years we've stayed at this cottage, and we keep coming back! It is spacious and comfortable and has everything we need. The large screened-in porch is perfect for eating, and relaxing with plenty of space for everyone.
We are looking forward to our stay this summer!
