Welcome to our beautiful attached home in the heart of the romantic surf town of Cardiff By The Sea. Our home is a spacious, one bedroom, one bath, newly remodeled bit of paradise. Maximum occupancy (3), vehicle parking (1). It is decorated with a tasteful mix of old Mexico and Aloha spirit.
There are Saltillo tiles through out, a roomy and fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops and all the amenities. From your ocean view bedroom you can open double French doors and step out onto the tiled patio with adjoining lawn and breathe in the ocean air. You can enjoy your meals and sip wine in the ocean view sun room or on the deck overlooking the lush, colorful garden. Our lower garden includes an expansive lawn and a meditative koi pond. There is also a flat screen TV, stereo system, and overhead remote fans in every room and a gas BBQ on the deck.
Sunsets are incredible all year round and can be enjoyed wherever you are on the property. But better yet — why not walk to the beach and watch the sunset there? It will only take a few minutes to walk the two blocks to the beach where, besides sunsets, you can enjoy sunbathing, surfing, swimming, boogie boarding and scenic beach walks. There you can see dolphins, pelicans, various sea birds and even migrating whales — when in season. We also supply a beach parking pass so you can go to any beaches in San Diego. Our home overlooks some of the best surfing spots in California —Swami’s, Pipes and Cardiff Reef; all which are in walking distance.
The charming Cardiff by the Sea Downtown Village is only three blocks away. There you can visit the many restaurants, an upscale wine bar, Seaside gourmet market, boutiques, Iron Cross Surf Shop, the iconic Sunny Skys Bikinis and VG’S Doughnuts. One mike down the beach you can experience beachfront dining at the many varied restaurants.

We came in for a concert at Petco. It was easy to fet in and out of downtown, less than 30 minutes. We had a lot great restaurants near us in walking distance. The local beaches were great and there was a lot to do within a 30 minute radius.

Karen's place is a must if you want to explore the San Diego area. It's minutes from the freeway, ocean and grocery store. A quick drive down into San Diego. Large kitchen, airy and bright living area. I loved staying here with my friends who were visiting me from overseas!

The place met expectations as far as decor. A little surprised to see it was guest quarters under the main house, not separate. However, there was no interference. The walk to the guest suite was a little steep enough to mention albeit a short distance. cold water in the bathroom, used kitchen to wash. nice shower. That is why it is a four not a five. lovely neighborhood

We had a wonderful time staying at this property! The sunporch allowed us to take in the ocean views and idyllic garden landscape, or we could sit out on the deck or the terrace outside of the bedroom if we wanted to sit in the shade. The location could not be beat! Cardiff by the Sea is a lovely town with grocery stores and restaurants all within minutes, and access to so many beautiful beaches! With a beach parking pass and beach chairs and towels provided, it was so convenient! Karen was an excellent host, she answered all of our questions and helped us out during our stay, we really appreciated her kindness. It was the perfect landing spot after a busy day of sightseeing and activities. The calm zen-like space was truly relaxing and we were sad to leave!

Lovely spread out sunny house - I expected a room but it was so much more. Beautiful view, lots of sun - fantastic owners, koi, stunning garden and fruit trees, within walking distance to everywhere in Cardiff. Lovely all around - will be my go-to. Kitchen is large and well-stocked. I even received flowers on Mother’s Day. You cannot go wrong here. Thanks again for the best home ever! See you guys soon.

We were very happy with our stay! The space is larger than we anticipated and very comfortable furniture and bedding. Nice patio with ocean views and koi pond. Easy check in process too!
One block away from a great walking path, we easily walked to dinner in downtown Cardiff. Solana Beach and Encinitas are minutes away. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

My cousin and I did a girls trip and I was so excited to find a property near the ocean that I could afford. Karen and Craig were great and the property was perfect for the two of us. Each morning, waking to that ocean view was incredible. We took a while to get out the door because it was so nice to sit in the deck and enjoy the views of the ocean and the lovely yard. I absolutely want to come back. It’s easy access to everything we wanted to do and we had no trouble getting the designated parking space each time we returned from an outing. We truly felt like we were home away from home and were grateful to Katennand Craig for sharing their home with us.

We stayed at Cardiff-by-the-sea for the Month of February, 2024. It was a wonderful experience the accommodation included everything we needed from kitchen equipment, bedding, beach towels and even a beach parking pass. The surrounding area was a delight and spent many days just wandering the walking paths and watching the surfers. Would highly recommend this Vrbo for short or long stays. Craig and Karen were very responsive to any needs we had and are genuinely good folks.

Had a very nice stay here. Hosts are gracious and responsive and helpful. The views are wonderful- it’s a very relaxing and peaceful setting. Tons of space and lots of places to sit and unwind. Be warned that in the mornings you can sometimes hear the hosts who live upstairs. Wasn’t a dealbreaker for us but for some it might be. Also my wife wished there was a full length mirror. Very minor point in an overall great VRBO.

Everything you need for a great stay.
Owners live above, heard a few footsteps, but not a big issue. Plenty of room, we had a wonderful three days, will stay again! Train tracks near, didn’t bother us, no warning horn!

A little bit of Mexico, Hawaii and Cardiff beach stirred together and you have this wonderfully eclectic rental. We were very pleasantly surprised that the unit was as large as it was. You can sit comfortably in the skylight covered area or outside under an overhang when it rains... yes it occasionally rains in SoCal. Big kitchen. When you wake up in the morning you can see the ocean from the bed! The location is superb, just minutes from the beach and local cafes. Wish we could have stayed longer.

I booked here as a weekend getaway with my wife and 6 month old. From the very beginning Karen was very accommodating and a wonderful host. She made sure to let me know if we needed anything to let her know, but otherwise contact was very minimal which worked well for us as we needed an oasis to relax in. I would say an oasis is exactly what Karen and Craig have cultivated here. The back yard garden and koi pond water feature with the palm trees and the ocean as a backdrop makes it feel like a secret getaway on a tropical island. They provide a parking pass for the beach which is very nice. We plan on coming back again. Tip: the Tri tip sandwich at the local market is really good.

It was exactly what we were looking for on this getaway. Tranquil & relaxing with a garden that made it feel like a tropical vacation. Home was comfortable, clean & well stocked. Thought of little extras like reserved parking to make the stay so easy. Look forward to spending time here again.

The house was just as pictured and very comfortable. It was a great location for easy day trips up and down the coast. We enjoyed the outdoor deck in the evenings and even enjoyed a glass of wine with Karen and Craig!

Stayed here for long weekend for events with friends happening in and around San Diego. Was about 25 mins to downtown. Local area was nice with shops nearby. Walking trails were close. No sidewalks in immediate neighborhood so must walk in streets to get to walking/biking paths. Beach is short drive away and pass is provided by host (not a close walk). Commuter train close but they pass by quick and are relatively quiet. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if there is an opportunity to do so.

Nice property for two. 8 minute walk to the Cardiff Market, Pipes cafe (amazing breakfast), other restaurants, and the beach! We did not bother with a rental car.

Very private, super chill property with ocean views from every room. The grounds are a lush paradise. Watched butterflies and bees all day long. I'm an animal lover so host's dogs and cat made our stay perfect.

We had a restful stay at Karen and Craig’s beautiful home. Great deck overlooking the lush backyard with blooming flowers and so many hummingbirds! Close to the beach and rail trail for walks to both Cardiff village and Encinitas. We enjoyed chatting with Craig - he and Karen are excellent hosts! We would definitely stay again!

My wife and I were looking for a nice place to stay for our little getaway trip and came across this beautiful property. Karen was such a great host and her property felt like it was truly a place to relax and refresh from everyday life. We definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
