About this house rental
Mansion In Rittenhouse Square. 8 Bedrooms (7 Queen. 1 King. ). 2 Kitchens.
This home is a stunner! Built in 1845, and at almost 8,000 sq ft you will go back in time and do it in style. You’ll also enjoy easy access to the best of Philadelphia from this centrally located mansion with Rittenhouse Square two blocks away.
Many of the properties original 19th Century details are on display from the moment you enter. The Grand Parlour, located just inside the front door, is one of the largest private rooms in the city and contains a secondary Formal Dining area, Pool Table and Double Lounge.
The house contains two full kitchens - to be certain you can feed your entire group - without walking up or down more than one floor.
You will absolutely love the roof deck and sunbathing area in the warmer months. The city vista views are literally only available from this location - positioned above every other in this historic part of Philadelphia. All year round, 1822 Pine is within walking distance of the best shops, restaurants, and museums in the city.
Features 8 bedrooms (8 beds) across five suites. The house sleeps up to 16 people in its current configuration, leaving multiple living rooms and works spaces for enjoying time with your guests! Just as you would expect in such a grand home. A further 5 bathrooms are placed in each suite. Please note, that the primary dining room table can only seat 12 for dinner service. Additional tables can be made available for a larger seating of 16 but require management prior arrangements.
The second-floor suites each have one bedroom and a living room: The Master - Emily Drexel Suite (2nd floor rear) and The Library Suite (2nd Floor Front). The Library Suite is the largest in the house and would originally have made up the ladies sitting room and house library. This suite includes room for living and working; and further includes a wet bar for entertaining and a 70Inch 4K TV. Our guests often choose to leave this suite vacant so that it can be enjoyed by all.
The third floor front of the house contains the Mansion Suite with two bedrooms and a bath (likely also the original master bedroom apartments). The 3rd floor rear contains the second kitchen and entertainment lounge + rear terrace (no bedrooms).
The fourth floor has two more suites front and rear: The Pine Street Suite and Waverley Street Suite (named after the streets they look out upon) - each have two bedrooms and a bathroom (total of 4 bedrooms).
The ample number of living spaces and private suites make this Rittenhouse Mansion a unique experience and a perfect fit for a family gathering in Philadelphia and a great event space for Companies, Universities, and Wedding Parties.
We have a FIRM NO PARTY POLICY. There are noise and crowd sensors that will sound in the house and also alert management if they detect sustained levels above 79 Decibels. Repeated breaches of the sound levels or unnamed guests on the premises will RESULT IN FULL FORFEITURE OF THE SECURITY DEPOSIT and potentially result in IMMEDIATE EVICTION of the property should the police be called. We expect you to enjoy your time at 1822 Pine, but do so respecting the home and its neighborhood. The house is a piece of history and needs to be treated as such. Thank you :)
For those who are interested in hosting dinner parties of 16 or less at the property, please reach out separately for advice or support with making arrangements. We have catering and event organizers that are familiar with the property and can assist in making special occasions - special.
All guests assume the risk of injury or loss to person or property in conjunction with the use of the roof deck.
The house has a team of support personnel to handle guest inquires, urgent maintenance, and whatever other support your party might require.

Spacious, beautiful, and well-equipped property with great locations, comfortable rooms, and responsive hosts.

My friends and I are all from the area and we decided to do a Rittenhouse weekend and this was THE perfect place to do it! The house is absolutely stunning and has everything you’d ever want! None of us wanted to leave! Communication was also great and everything was so easy and organized. Would love to stay again!!

This home was gorgeous and comfortable! 14 of us from a family stayed, and there was room to spare for us all. The property is stunning, and the location in Philly cannot be near. The host was incredibly responsive and friendly, too. The next time we need a place to stay in Philly, I know where I am headed back to.

Great location. Huge, modern and charming townhome. Wonderful deck on roof. 2 kitchens. plenty of places to gather and talk. Stayed during a heat wave, but house was very cool. Host was very responsive.

The house is beautiful and the location is wonderful. It was perfect setting for our family to gather for a wedding.
Some features of the house were worn, the carpets were gross. The house was very clean, just very worn. Things could be easily updated to add to the quality of the stay. The AC and TV did not work in the second master suite. The shower in the second master suite did not turn on or off without great effort. There was no water for a time in another suite.
Diana, the property manager was amazing, she was responsive and engaging, immediately addressing the problems we encountered with the house.
Communication with the host was difficult, days to weeks with no response. Host did meet our requests when he responded, which we appreciated.
Just not the quality of stay that we’ve enjoyed with hosts of other large homes with the same price point.

This was our second time staying at this property. Excellent service, House was very clean. Lot's of little touches that enhanced our stay such as coffee choices, snacks, soaps and shampoos. Plenty of room for everyone.

Had an amazing stay at this truly special, comfortable and unique property. We were a group of 14. The mansion had lots of room for everyone to have their own space along with space to spend time together. The kitchen was fully equipped, which allowed us to cook breakfast each day along with a multi-course dinner one evening. The location couldn't be better. We could walk to everything!! The street is very quiet and private, yet close enough to all of the Philly action. Highly Recommend!

Our family rented this house for a local wedding. There are a lot of stairs but that keeps the bedroom suites private and quiet! Very well setup and easy communication with the owner. Lovely kitchen with a great dining room for family dinner. The rooftop is amazing in the evening! Loved it!

We've rented a number of houses in downtown Philadelphia for our family get-togethers. This property is unique in a number of ways:
- Large number of bedrooms and bathrooms: we fit 7 couples with 3 kids pretty comfortably; there is enough space where everyone can get their privacy.
- Big living room: few properties like this have such a large shared room
- Fantastic location (near Rittenhouse Square) and very historic home. It was also very quiet.
It's not cheap- but well worth it if you are large group and want to stay together in a great part of Philadelphia.

This was a great house to have everyone in one place for the weekend. The house is in great shape for being 150 yrs old. Some bedrooms don’t have a closet for hanging clothes but most are larg

We love the home!!! The layout is perfect. We had a baby shower which took place in the parlor room. The kitchen was well stocked with anything we needed and the butler’s pantry was a welcomed surprise. The dining room is beautiful and felt so cozy. Our family members spent the weekend and all the bedrooms provided ample space. Thank you so much for opening up your home. It is a special place.

The purpose of the stay was for a business purpose. There was a sales meeting at the convention center, and the property was outstanding.
The property is beautifully maintained and offers so many amenities.
What made this property so special for our sales team, is it allowed the team to collect their thoughts and map out their sales strategy in a tranquil and relaxing setting.
Also, the detail that the property manager goes to enhance your stay is amazing. He's a great communicator. He knows the area and offers suggestions that will enhance your stay.
To summarize this property is an outstanding value due to its spaciousness, modern amenities. All while maintaining its Philadelphia roots.
Definitely check out this property, you'll be glad you did.

The pictures don't do this house and its location justice! We were a group of 10 and we had plenty of room to spread out or hang out together. Pool table, 2 tv rooms, rooftop deck - we enjoyed them all. The ground floor kitchen and dining room were plenty big enough for us to bring in meals and dine together. We were able to walk to great bars and restaurants, as well as to public transportation to the Sports Complex (10 min walk, 10 min subway ride). Property manager was very responsive to our questions and sent comprehensive instructions ahead of check in and check out. He even provided complimentary coffee pods and snacks. Each bedroom was big with comfortable beds. And although some of the bathrooms are small (understandable for such a historic house), it's well worth the tradeoff for such a great place. I can't imagine a better set up in Center City for a group stay!

What a gem. I booked this monster all to myself and ran from room to room deciding which bed to sleep in. I felt like Snow White when all of the dwarfs were out at work. I highly recommend this property. What a gem.

We had a great time in this historic house. It had recently been upgraded to add smart home technology. Robert was extremely easy to work with and helped out quickly on a minor issue. We will definitely come back here again.

Large home and in a fantastic location. We were able to find food late at night within walking distance which was critical after working until midnight and trying to feed 8 hungry fellas. Great, considerate host and plenty of space in this multi-story house!!

We stayed for 2 nights.
Location is great. Excellent air conditioning system as the city was very hot. Excellent beds.
Confortable kitchen
It’s not really a house. It’s more of a multi appartement home with a lot of bedroom with small living attached, but no leaving room to be at first floor.
A little dated but charming.
Would benefit of a good deep cleaning of shower and bath.
Overall good and very good host.

Great for a group and central walkable location
This place was perfect for a big group in town for a wedding. We all got our own rooms, plenty of bathrooms to get ready in, and lots of places to hang out together. I wish we had more time to enjoy the amazing roof deck. The location was fantastic easily walking to coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and S Broad to City Hall Square, we had everything we needed. We even stopped by the cute farmers market at Rittenhouse Square Saturday morning. Robertson was very responsive ahead of our stay and provided us with all of the info needed ahead of time, we didn’t even need to contact him. We were all so happy with the house, location, and overall stay, we couldn’t have asked for more!

Excellent Historic Home in a Fantastic Neighborhood
Rented this property for a weekend away with friends - it could not have been better. The neighborhood is fantastic - walkable from the train and bus stations, and has amazing restaurants and coffee shops and the like. We ended up doing a lot of cooking and hanging out in the house, there was a comprehensive grocery store 1 mile away and the kitchen had everything we needed. We rented the entire property and it was tons of space, lots of bathrooms, multiple sitting rooms, and all the amenities we needed. The property manager was very responsive and we couldn't have been happier. Thanks again!

Very big property, and GREAT location. But cleanliness and overall condition (e.g., plumbing) left a LOT to be desired.

Great place for a large group with an excellent location
This is a wonderful place to stay in Philly if you have a large group. I have one warning. There are a lot of stairs and I mean a lot of stairs. We were a group of 14 + in town for a graduation and family reunion and everyone had a place to sleep in a bed w/ one added aero bed. Many bathrooms and lots of room for people to have some space while room for big gatherings on first floor. There are many rooms and suites to house families. The kitchen is capable of cooking for large crowds. The location in Rittenhouse square is primo! Walking and or uber to all major attractions. It was clean and any issues we had were addressed by the owner. I would not recommend this property for older or physically impeded people due to stairs. The view from the roof in evening is wonderful.

Stately Rowhouse Near Rittenhouse Square
The place was top notch. The house was in a great location, very clean, and had all the amenities we were looking for (rooftop deck, a couple of living rooms for hanging out, pool table, etc.). It was the perfect place for our reunion weekend. Also, lots of local mini-markets, breakfast places, and restaurants in easy walking distance. The communication with the host was excellent too.

Historical Charm and Modern Convenience
If you are looking for a place to stay for a large group this is it! Our family stayed here (5 couples) for the Philadelphia Marathon. There are numerous levels, each containing bedrooms/ bathrooms. We could gather together on main floor, yet everyone also had there own space. The location is great- we walked to most everything, or used short uber rides. There are numerous restaurants, grocery stores, etc. nearby. There are a few minor glitches that you would expect in a building as old as this; uneven heating, no cable ( there are apple tvs) but the overall ambiance wins out! The owner was flexible and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing House
It truly is a mansion in a great location. There was more than enough room to accommodate our family and the location was perfect. The only negative is that it had apple TV and it wasn't available in some of the rooms but I am such a luddite that it confused me, but there was music, a pool table, and of course I brought a book anyway because of my aversion to technology to occupy our time when not touring the city. The upstairs deck had an amazing view of the city and the weather was perfect to enjoy the deck. The owner was quick and responsive to any of our concerns. I cannot give the house and owner a high enough rating.

Awesome, ENORMOUS house.
We had a wonderful time staying in the Rittenhouse Mansion in late January. There were only four of us, so we were dwarved by the mansion's size, but it still felt homey and warm. The multiple kitchens and abundance of bathrooms ensure comfort throughout the house, and the location is pretty hard to beat -- we were able to easily walk to several local grocery stores as well as a City Bike dock one block away. The Subway line also stops very nearby. All in all a lovely home and a wonderful place to stay if you are with a large party. I would recommend it to anyone glady.

Great accommodations to host a meeting for 2 days where everyone had separate space to enjoy.

Amazing historic mansion - great for large groups!
This home was perfect for our group of 12 to stay and work in for the weekend. We held a 2 day planning retreat there and there was plenty of space for everyone to feel comfortable, and the large first floor parlor was ideal for round table discussions and social gatherings after our work for the day was done. The location is fantastic for exploring the city too (wish we had had more time for that!). And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the roof deck - it has one of the most stunning views of the city! We were lucky to have mild weather for our weekend there in February, and we ended up having a few meals and meetings up there, and enjoyed it in the evenings as well. Thanks for a great stay!

City digs: dowager queen
This is a beautiful home in a beautiful area of center city Philadelphia. If you are a walker, everything from morning coffee, sightseeing, shopping, kid friendly activities and evening cocktails are easily in reach.
Make no mistake: her age is showing. A few nails are beginning to lift in the gorgeous hardwood floors and the roof deck stairs made us nervous. It could use some sharp knives and a few decks of cards. (To be honest, since the home is occupied when not leased, we didn't feel comfortable searching too far.) But the hours we spent watching the moonrise over the city of brotherly love on that deck and all (10 of us) sitting around the large granite kitchen island made it worthwhile. Large groups could probably pay a similar amount and all stay at a hotel but you would never get the city flavor like you will in this home.
Thank you, Robertson-Price family for sharing your home.
