Please INQUIRE with owner before booking if you have more than 10 people (basically, up to 12 is ok if it is 6 adults and 6 kids 12yo and under, otherwise it is too much for the well)**
Open floor plan living/dining/kitchen/tv nook 1000sf. This 2,400sf house is ideal for kids, pets allowed, can even accommodate three families! Private beach access overlooking Acadia/Mt. Desert Island, next town over from Blue Hill arts and food scene, and the other direction to the town of Ellsworth's shopping. Ideal staging ground for your Down East Summer vacation throughout the Penobscot Peninsula, easy day trips to Deer Isle, Camden, etc. Private beach located just a short 300' walk down the private camp lane (the house is located on a little peninsula with about 15 others, providing an idyllic little enclave on Contention Cove, no public traffic). Also, a deep water mooring may be available if you inquire. There is also a shared canon and inflatable kayak.
There is a canoe down at the water which is available to you, and large screen TV w Netflix and Amazon Prime, a dvd plus great high speed internet/wifi make this vacation home both an ideal wooded/ocean access getaway, but also to keep you connected and entertained! We have also found it works very well to have a couple offices set up and supports multiple 'zooming' at once.

We were up to visit family. The house is very conveniently located to a lot of great places in the area. Plenty of room to move around in the house.
Note to self, if they tell you to conserve water, heed their advice.

Great location, close walk to beach, loved the canoe and paddle boards. Our dogs had fun too!

This property was great for our 2 families. 3 adult and 8 children. This house had everything. There was so much for everyone to do. The location was perfect for us. The kids love being able to take a short walk to the beach and enjoyed swimming in the water daily. My only wish is it was a little closer to Bar Harbor/Arcadia but thw almost hr drive went by fast. I would definitively come back to this home in the future.

The house was beautiful and convenient to the private beach. We saw Acadia National Park, Bar Harbour, took a sunset cruise, sampled beers, wines and ice creams! The house had basketball and ping pong as well as plenty of games and puzzles which we used with my adult children. We had plenty of room to gather in the living room with the open floor plan allowing us to talk to people in the kitchen. The house was clean, well stocked with necessities, and the host went above and beyond. It was a very positive experience for everyone.

The house was just as described…. Very clean, comfortable bedding. We loved sitting outside by the fire pit, plenty of wood supply to use.
The walk to the beach was lovely, our kids loved using the canoe and paddle board.
The only con was that the stove and microwave were not working well….. just something for the owners to check into!

2 senior citizen couples shared this house for 4 nights. There was more than enough space. We enjoyed having a bathroom for each couple and the fact that 2 bedrooms were on the ground floor as stairs were difficult for one couple. We had fun with the ping pong table and indoor basketball game and played one of the provided board games. Would have liked to use the canoe but had 2 days of rain so ran out of time to do that. WE did not cook here but there were plenty of spices, salt, pepper and other cooking basics and condiments available if you wanted to do that. Upstairs bathroom was also stocked with bandaids, sunscreen, bug spray etc. If you forgot something you would probably find it here.
Property is not ocean front or ocean view but just a short walk (100 to 200 feet?) away on a road with minimal traffic as there is only 6 or so houses on it. This property would be ideal for families with children as there is so much provided to keep the kids busy and having fun indoors as well as outdoors. Also property is about 1/2 hour drive to Acadia National park (at least in Sept. after Labor Day!)

This is my dream home! It’s even better than the pictures (the layout is more open that I imagined). It served as a fantastic homebase during our trip with 8 friends to explore Surry, Acadia & Bar Habor (40 min to Bar Harbor). The location is quiet and relaxing and the beach access is a great bonus. Be sure to check out the stars on a clear night! We enjoyed cooking meals, playing games (ping pong, basketball, tons of board games), and just hanging out. It’s clean with comfortables beds & fully stocked with all of your needs. There’s a great firepit area and a grill out back. We also loved that we could bring our pup & didn’t have to leave him behind.

This house in Surry was perfect for our family. The photos don’t do it justice - there is so much light and the layout was really great. We had three kids under the age of 8 and the house was wonderful for them. There were lots of activities and wooden toys and games stocked in the house. We didn’t even need to bring toys. The house seems to be very loved by the owners - it was well supplied and everything is neatly organized in drawers and cabinets. Beds and pillows were very comfy, too. We weren’t prepared for the early Maine sunrises so my only wish was for shades on the bedroom windows. Other than that, pretty perfect! We’d definitely stay here again.

Such an eye pleasing place to stay. Well appointed kitchen and tons of things for the young adults to do in the evening. Super easy choice for 6 of us versus hotel rooms. Will be back;

Beautiful setting in the woods and easy walk to the beach. Very responsive host. Clean, old house. A bit cluttered for our taste but it certainly came in handy when I needed a pair of water shoes to go to the beach! We didn’t have kids with us but school aged children would love all the games.

I didn’t get the check in information because the owner didn’t send it. After a short period of panic everything was resolved and we had a great stay. Roomy, comfortable place with everything you need. We didn’t have kids along but very kid friendly. We used the backyard fire pit every night. Highly recommended!

What a great time we all had in this perfect Downeast vacation home. Set in the woods, a short walk from the beach, this spacious and well kept home had all the amenities one could ask for for a perfect relaxing vacation. We spent days at the beach, taking day trips to Bar Harbor and Fort Knox and relaxing by the beach. Nights were spent laughing around the fire pit in the back yard, roasting marshmallows and recalling the daytime adventures. We happened to be here during the Olympics and while not watching the games found plenty of opportunity to satisfy our competitive sides with our own Maine Olympics in events like head-to-head basketball, ping-pong and corn hole competitions (we brought the corn hole game). The house was complete with a well stocked kitchen for family dinners and very comfortable beds to rest our weary heads at the end of well spent days where we could dream about coming back again next year!

I cannot say enough great things about this house, and its owner.
The house is nestled in a beautiful wooded area, and has its own private access to a little private beach, just a short lovely walk in the woods away. The interior is absolutely lovely, and is artistically decorated, with original artwork by the owner’s mom.
The owner was just a few houses away, and was gracious enough to share the beach with us, and provide us with beach toys, paddle boards, chairs, etc. Plus, he was quick to respond to any query, and made us feel very welcome.
Needless to say, we will be visiting this property again.

What a wonderful home you have! My husband and I stayed with our 24 yr old twins. It is in an ideal location close to the water, between Blue HIll and Ellsworth for shopping and delightful restaurants, near numerous walking trails/areas, and close enough to Acadia/Bar Harbor for day excursions. The house has all the comforts you would need and little extras like spices, beach towels, and games/puzzles, etc. to help make the stay that more enjoyable and relaxing. (The beds and pillows were also so comfy!) Our daughter even had to work for three of the days, but the house set up and size allowed for her to work without us getting in her way. All in all, it was a great and relaxing vacation, and I would recommend it to anyone else looking for a place to stay in Maine.

A nice property that was quiet and pet friendly. The beach was relatively close and it was possible to walk along it at low tide. Dogs should be on a leash on the beach but that didn't seem to be an issue in late October when we visited. The recommendations were generally on point. We had hoped that it would have been a bit closer to Acadia, but the trip was manageable - about 40 minutes or so. A nice part of the world.

This beautiful, spacious, and clean house has everything you could possibly need. It's well off the beaten path, but still close to civilization for groceries/supplies. Easy access to the water on a short walk, and the beach is on a nice quiet cove great for exploring and beachcombing. Seals and birds and the occasion fish splash were common sights during the day, and shooting stars with an abundance of loon calls at night. It's short trip out to beautiful Acadia and other area attractions. The kitchen is well stocked and the grill outside is great too. We enjoyed relaxing campfires after exploring at the end of the day and then quiet time with a movie before before bed in the TV nook. This house was perfect for all ages. The owner, Tim, was excellent about answering all of our questions and accommodating our needs. This was a lovely getaway spot that we will highly recommend to friends and family. Will definitely book again!

Loved the location and recommendations. There were 6 adults and 2 babies and we all had enough hot water and space! Great kitchen for cooking, loved the fire pit. Downsides for the cleaning fee, it not seem to be very throughly cleaned especially considering covid. The floors hadn't been mopped and dust bunnies and cobwebs. I have stayed at state park cabins that were cleaner. I know things were older so the tub might not look clean, but I cleaned it before giving my babies a bath. Also the picture does not accurately describe the beach access, as it was just a gap in some trees.

We had an amazing time with 2 families of 4 and our dog (4 adults and 4 cousins). The house had plenty of room for everyone, entertainment for all ages (toys for kids and games for teenagers). The short walk to the private beach was amazing. We all spent long hours walking the beach looking for shells, sea glass, and even sea stars. Even though the water was very cold (maybe 50s) the kids did not mind at all and enjoyed jumping the waves. The suggestions for ice cream, seafood, and more in the area were amazing. We even enjoyed a day at Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor taking in all Maine has to offer.

We had a good overall experience. The house is in a beautiful location. We especially enjoyed the fire pit and the ping pong and other games for the kids. However, it was not clean-extremely dusty. There were even dirty clothes from a previous guest in the bedroom as well as empty alcohol bottles and cigarettes on the balcony. Showers were not always hot by the time the last person got to their turn.

Our group of 9 ranging in age from 8-52 really enjoyed our time here! The private beach on the cove made the entire week special. We saw beautiful sunsets and a once in a lifetime sight of the red moon rising on the horizon. We also enjoyed using the canoe, the cove is very secluded. Make sure you check it out at night. The kitchen was well stocked. The house has a relaxing and informal feel. It reminded us more of a camp or cabin. It’s older but has everything you need. The location is great. We enjoyed hiking and the beaches and all that Acadia has to offer. Everyone in our group would love to stay here again.
