The doors and cabinets are all local hardwood and the counters are local stone. The paintings and prints are by local artists, and objects are sourced directly from the artists in the neighboring states of Oaxaca and Michoacan. There are place appropriate decorative touches throughout. A comment we get a lot from our guests is "The pictures do not do this place justice."
The 16'x8' en suite pool has enough space for all guests to relax and take in the view. It also has ample exterior sunbathing space; take a swing in the hammock, sip a beer or cocktail in your sun lounger or simply read your favorite book in the pool. There are also two uncrowded common infinity pools with amazing views in a lush garden area.
It is less than a 10 minute walk down to the beautiful, long white sand and coconut palm lined Playa La Ropa beach. Taxis are available within 2-3 minutes and will take you anywhere in town for just 55 pesos. We have a dedicated, covered parking space if you bring a car. If you prefer not to walk up the hill back from the beach, there is a taxi stand by the beach.

This condo was incredible. Hands down, the best place I have ever stayed in Mexico. Four of us, girls trip, stayed for 7 days. The manager met us to let us in, helped us find taxis, answered when we needed more water and gave us excellent advice through our trip. The condo is beautiful, clean, the art is perfect and the view is outstanding. It is about $7.00 taxi to the center of Zihuatanejo. The condo is walking distance to La Ropa. I can’t say enough good about this VRBO.

This is truly a spectacular property. We've stayed at La Casa Que Ve al Mar before. It's a special property that is impeccably maintained, with lush gardens and a friendly, helpful staff. But staying in the penthouse is really over the top. Terrific outdoor living and the views are just incredible. There's plenty of room for everyone to have their own space.
Because we either walked to the beach or took the minibus to town (13 pesos one way!), we almost always had to walk up the hill (good for working off the margaritas, of course!). So we really appreciated the little pool on the balcony to cool off after that hike.
There was a bit of a hiccup when the electricity went off. Rick was totally on it. As it turns out, the entire La Ropa area had an issue, but it was fixed quite quickly. Probably faster than PG&E would have done the repair. I could not have asked for better communication. Gracias, Rick.
We really can't wait to return.

I stayed at this penthouse two years ago and we were lucky enough to book it again for 10 wonderful nights again this year. The condo is very well appointed with everything you could want. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedrooms spacious and comfortable, the pool is great and the view is not to be beaten. The photos in the listing do not do it justice. Any and all our pre arrival questions were answered by Rick in a timely manner. Once we were there the property manager was very attentive to our needs. I can not give a high enough review of this property. Thanks Rick for sharing your condo agin and hope to return.

We have stayed at other units in this complex. But when we stepped into this unit, it ultimately amazing.
The view was just Absolutely Amazing. We just stood there for a moment and took it in.
The rooms were all very comfortable. The kitchen is great to work in. Every day was breakfast in the unit, and with 6 of us setting around the banquet table was great.
Relaxing in the small pool was fun and relaxing. Could just be ourselves.
We appreciate the owners letting us enjoy the relaxation of the unit, the view, and the ease of getting there.
Thanks to all.

The other residents where great also meet some awewome people who know the place well and are full of helpful information. Rick the owner was also great and super helpful, always responding to questions quickly and very accommodating. Would definitely return! Thanks Rick

From the minute we walked out of the elevator into the penthouse to the amazing view, we knew we had picked the perfect spot for our vacation.
Mornings with freshly brewed coffee or espresso, watching the pelicans dive for their breakfast. Evenings in the private dip pool watching the sunset and the lights of boats on the water with a glass of wine.
Sleeping in large bedrooms with either air conditioning or a cool night breeze, waking up to the sound of the local birds and the ocean.
The penthouse was well equipped and we didn’t lack for anything. Cleaning 3 times weekly was included and Veronica kept us well supplied with clean towels etc. The private pool was cleaned twice weekly.
Manager responded very quickly to any questions we had.
The location was close enough for walks to the beach, restaurants or Centro. The driveway is steep, but a quick taxi ride is always available if you are exhausted from lounging at the beach all day.
We would definitely recommend and hope to be back.

We had an amazing time at Rick's place. It was stunningly beautiful, everything exactly as described in the listing, beyond expectations. There are two community pools with amazing views of the bay as well as the private, in suite pool in the house, which came in really handy on those hot Zihua days. :)
There is a pool guy and a housekeeper who come while you're there. At first I wasn't sure how I (or my family) would feel about having people coming and going while we were there, but it turned out to be REALLY nice! :)
The hill to get up to the house from the beach is pretty intense if you're not an active person or have mobility issues, but you can get a taxi to bring you up for $60 pesos (approximately $3 USD) from the beach. This is the new minimum since the listing I believe, but all of the taxi prices have gone up in Zihua as of Dec 15th, 2022. Still completely worth it after a long day at the beach, but adds up if you have a family of 5 coming and going throughout the week.
The location was great! It's about a 5-10 minute walk to La Ropa beach, which is arguably the nicest beach in Zihua. Directly down the hill we were able to catch a combi into town for only $13 pesos. We did this a lot. It's a great way to learn your way around town and it's more local experience.
Two things I would note: there are ants really bad. You can't leave anything out on the counter. We put everything in fridge and it was fine. I also live in Zihua, so I understand critters and insects, but this was not that. I would recommend an exterminator, but some people don't like those chemicals in their house. So maybe a more holistic alternative if that's the case, but the ants were really bad. Still though, don't let that deter you from this amazing place in paradise. Just put your food in the fridge-- even tortillas or bread. :)
One other thing; after I booked the host mentioned that he may have to change one night. We discussed it and it worked out fine that he didn't have to do that, but given we are in peak season here and my family was flying all the way from the U.S., I was nervous about it the entire time. It would have been better to not even mention it because, like I said, I was worried up until check out that it could still happen. I suspect that's not something that would happen again though, or that you would have to worry about if you book this place. Aside from that, the trip was absolutely fantastic! We can't say enough good about the place!

Perfect Condo
The condo is even better looking than the photos (and the photos looked very good). Check in was a breeze, in fact we were able to check in early. Any questions we had with Rick the owner and Almendra, the property manager were answered in a timely manner. The location was perfect, close to La Ropa and not too bad a walk to Centro or La Madera. Bit of a climb up from the street but doable. The view from the unit is fantastic for daytime, sunsets and night. The pool in the unit while not huge was plenty big enough for the 5 of us. There are 2 other pools in the complex but we mainly hung around our pool. 2 of the bedrooms are very large and the third is smaller but still good size. Beds were very comfortable. Air conditioning worked well but due to the sea breezes hardly needed to use them. It was very nice having filtered water throughout so we could drink directly from faucet. If you are hesitant to do that, Rick installed a unit that bottled water attaches to. It supplied cold, room temperature and hot water. A WhatsApp call to Almendra and a new water bottled was delivered shortly. Veronica, the maid came 3 times a week. Actually more than we need but she keep the place spotless. Julio, the pool guy also came 3 time s week and kept the pool spotless as well. And the kitchen…this was the best stocked rental kitchen I’ve ever experienced. There was nothing we needed that was missing. Plus everything was high quality (including Henkel knives). The condo also has a clothes washer and dryer which makes it easier to pack less. I would have no hesitancy rebooking this condo. Thanks Rick for sharing with us!

Rick, thanks so much for sharing you're little slice if heaven with us. What an amazing trip we had! Our group of six adults had never been to Zihuatanejo and we were looking for a special place to spend the holidays. This place is just amazing. You really cannot beat the view. It takes your breath away. The open air concept makes you feel instantly relaxed. It is beautifully furnished and well-equipped. The private pool is a great place to watch the sunset or take in the view. There is plenty of room to lounge in the sun at the other pools. We headed to the Mega for groceries and made breakfast or lunch and margaritas in the kitchen most days. There are plenty of towels for the beach. We weren't lacking anything. The hike back up from the beach is a little challenging in the heat of the day, but it's great exercise and if you're not in the mood, grabbing a cab is easy. We decided to walk it every day. There are plenty of good restaurants and a convenience store within walking distance. We always felt safe. Everyone staying in the complex was friendly. The staff was very helpful, especially with calling taxis. Almendra was there to greet us in person and available by text/email to answer questions, and help us with anything we needed. Rick was very friendly and responded very quickly to all of our queries. The house is equipped with a welcome notebook with all kinds of helpful information. This place is the perfect spot. I wish we had stayed longer. Until next time!

Home Away from Home With a View From the Top of the World
We had the most gratifying experience at this beautiful penthouse home! We absolutely love the colorful decor, the sweeping view of Playa La Ropa, and the relaxing vibe from the moment we entered the home! The convenience, beauty and luxury of the patio pool was the perfect way to relax and cool down while taking in the sunsets and sunrises. The a/c worked incredibly well in all the bedrooms; and the laundry facility was very convenient.
The staff were all assets to this home: Almendra graciously greeted us upon our arrival and made sure all was well; and Johnny cheerfully helped us with our luggage. Mario extended himself with advise and taxi service assistance, i.e., Alfredo provided exceptional taxi service; and Veronica and the pool maintenance gentleman were cheerful, quiet and thorough. The complex has a security station that is halfway up the driveway and we felt this contributed to us feeling safe at the property.
It was our first visit to beautiful Zihuatanejo and we certainly plan to return to this quaint town with great beaches, delicious food and friendly community. We'd love to stay again at this penthouse gem! The beauty and relaxation offered by this home is exceptional!

Great Experience
They made every step of the way easy and clear. An exceptional property, very clean, and of course a fabulous view! I also loved the decor which lead me to contacting one of the local artists to commission a piece for myself! At least for me and my family it was much better than resorts we have stayed with in the past; a more authentic cultural experience.

Dream Honeymoon Penthouse!
My husband and I called this magical place home during our weeklong honeymoon in April. We took a cab ($500 pesos) from the airport and were immediately greeted by the lovely property manager. We rode up the elevator to our private 9th floor penthouse, and the first thing we noticed was one side of the living room was completely open with a panoramic view of the ocean. It still takes my breath away thinking about it.
The décor was perfection: large, colorful paintings by local artists, and color choices that were both vibrant and serene. Everything was spotless and the ceilings were really high, like church high, and equipped with fans that kept it cool (we did not use the air conditioners once). We slept in the master suite with the screen doors closed so felt the cool breeze and heard the waves while we slept.
The view from the penthouse was the best in town. We had a couple of fancy dinners at Mar y Cielo and El Suspiro, high up on the cliffs and next to the ocean, but the view was still better at home. We cooked late morning breakfasts in the kitchen with supplies purchased at Mega Soriana. Some days we swam in the ocean, sunbathed, and got relaxing massages on Playa la Ropa, a 15 minute walk downhill. Other days, we strolled downtown and explored shops, the fishing pier, and museum. In the afternoons, we took cabs home for siestas until dinnertime. Just relaxing at home with that grand view was the best: we had a private dipping pool, a hammock, books, games, and puzzles. The hills and stairs to get home were no joke, so good walking shoes and water were a must. There was a washer and dryer, and a very nice gal cleaned the penthouse twice during our stay (make sure to tip her- she does an excellent job and also really great to talk to). It’s not a touristy destination, so well worth it to practice Spanish skills and engage in conversation. We spent our last evening, a Friday night, in downtown Zihua which was lit up like a street fair with live shows, loud music, all kinds of food, and people just hanging out together and having fun.
We hope to be back one day since some shops and restaurants we wanted to visit were closed because of Semana Santa (Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday). Each day, it felt so good coming home to the penthouse and was truly the most beautiful and zen place in the whole town. I think we’ve been spoiled forever by being able to stay at this gem. It’s the place of dreams. Really good dreams.

Fabulous Experience!!
Hi Rick,
Thank you so much for opening up your vacation condo to our group. We had the best time! Great views & sunsets, tasteful amenities, access to condo pools, short walk to Playa la Ropa beach, restauratns or Zihaut downtown. Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Look forward to catching up with you locally.
All the best,

Took our breath away!
Our family had the pleasure of staying in this lovely Penthouse for a week in January. From initial booking, to arrival, Rick was very attentive to all questions and communications.
Entering the unit, we were all left speechless. The interior is very open and roomy, lovely decor, AMAZING view. Just the right amount of decorations to feel the Mexican vibe, not overdone. I won’t go into detail, as many other reviews have done this already - suffice it to say, I’m agreement with all positive reviews.
Media had us a bit apprehensive with their travel warnings to this area, those feelings very quickly disappeared. Everywhere we went, friendly, helpful faces. We never felt uncomfortable/unsafe, whether taking a taxi, going out at night, walking in town.
Overall this was a fantastic, relaxing family vacation. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again at this wonderful penthouse.
(*this is not a criticism, an observation - I like very fluffy soft pillows, found the pillows a bit flat and firm for my liking - would probably bring a pillow from home next trip)

Luxurious Penthouse, Great Sunset!
What's better than sipping wine in your private patio pool, watching paragliders float across the bay as the sun goes down? With a giant open air living room and three bedrooms and bathrooms, there's ample room for all, though the master bedroom is probably worth fighting over. We looked for sunset views all over town, and really this was the best one hands down. House manager and maid were very attentive. House was well stocked with lots of cookware and 3 kinds of coffee makers (very important). We had a great time, thanks for everything!
2.5
Stunning view!
This condo was perfect for our group of 3 couples. We thoroughly enjoyed the space and the private dip pool. The open air concept for the main living space was wonderful and the fact that the bedrooms had air conditioning meant the nights were comfortable. There are 3 full bathrooms so really no one has to share. The kitchen is fairly well stocked. The maid came 3 times during the week, which was more than we needed, but I’m sure others would enjoy that. The only thing anyone should be aware of is that the beds are VERY firm. This was hard on a couple of us, but for those of you that enjoy a firm bed, you’ll be extremely happy. If you enjoy an occasional shot of tequila you’ll need to bring shot glasses with you as there aren’t any in the condo. We found some plastic ones down by the beach for just a few pesos. The walk to the beach is really not that far, but it is uphill coming back. Anyone with mobility issues can easily get a cab to and from the condo to Playa de Ropa for just a few pesos. As for beach front restaurants our favourites are Cantina and La Perla. Oh, and don’t forget to spend a day at Los Gatos! The last two restaurants (farthest from the pier) have amazing service and food!
2.5
Absolutely perfect!
This house is stunning! The owners were responsive to all my questions prior to arriving and once we got there the staff was helpful. We didn’t have any issues with the house so we didn’t need much. It was quiet with mostly older guests. Not a party pad. We had our teenage kids and I think they were the only ones under 40.
I would never deduct a star for this but it’s good to know ahead of time. There are a lot of stairs and the hotel is on a steep steep hill. If you take taxis everywhere you go it’s not a big deal (although you still have a small hill and flight of stairs to take) but we are walkers so it’s a LOT of hill. It kept off the lbs from all the taco and beer! We loved it so much we looked at another unit that was for sale in the same building!

Paradise!
I can't say enough good things about this fabulous property. The view is breathtaking! We stayed here 11 days and that was simply not enough time for us...we didn't want to leave. Rick was extremely easy to work with. The property manager was always available. The kitchen is stocked with everything one could possibly want. The bedrooms were huge and the bathrooms were awesome. I drank water straight from the sink and had zero problems. The furnishings and decor are beautiful. The pool! Beyond wonderful. I sat in it for hours at a time the whole time I was there. Cleaning service came in every other day and left the condo spotless. Can you tell how much we enjoyed this perfect vacation home? Do not hesitate to book this rental. I miss it every day. We were there the 1st 2 weeks of June and the weather was perfect. Thank you Rick! Book It! You will not be sorry....Beverly Wilder

A wonderful, relaxing experience --
This a special place and I feel very privileged that I stayed there for a week with friends.
Truly a penthouse. You are on top of the world and only the birds might have a better view.
It is a home you are renting and you can feel that the gracious owners Leslie and Rick are making
every effort to make you feel comfortable in style. You will find all the amenities that you would
staying in a 5-star hotel. The support staff is super friendly and helpful. The infinity pool was an
amazing feature. The location could not be better. You can walk to town or to the wonderful beach.
Taxis are always available and very affordable. In general, it felt very safe to get town where there
is a lot to explore.
I hope to be back soon to stay in this one-of-a-kind-place with friends and family.

"Oh Mexico, it sounds so simple I just got to go"
I’ve recently returned from one of the most relaxing vacations ever, a week at Rick and Leslie’s lovely condo in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. I am a 57 year old professional guy who, along with a couple of amigos, found some much needed R and R somewhere south of the border.
The days quickly sorted themselves into a basic routine of beach time and/or bicycle powered adventure in the mornings, chillaxing around the condo afternoons, and then out in the evening for dinner and drinks. Zihua feels easygoing and authentic, fundamentally a fishing village which has gracefully integrated it’s resort town alter ego. Playa La Ropa (just a short walk from the condo) is a sweeping, white sand beach; perfect for lounging in the sun or under an umbrella with occasional plunges into the surf (rinse, repeat). The temperature of the ocean was a particularly pleasant surprise, much more inviting than the chilly Pacific I grew up with to the north. La Ropa is also dotted with numerous bars and restaurants in addition to offering an array of aquatic activities, from SUP to parasailing. Heck, you can even get towed behind a speeding boat on a giant weenie (true story) !
Some random highlights from the week include...an exploration of the bay by kayak; whole grilled snapper along the charming, beachfront promenade in town; the passion fruit margarita at Amuleto; and siestas back at the condo with it's open, breezy feel and commanding views.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I am proud to call myself a longtime friend of Leslie and Rick. As such, it is my pleasure to state that along with just being great all around humans, both are as fair minded and honest as they come. Knowing them also makes me privy to a lot of exciting plans for taking their already wonderful Zihua retreat, and making it even better.
