The Concordia Gem is a newly built modern take on the classic mother-in-law unit, which will provide you with a luxe, personal & economical alternative to staying in a hotel/motel in the city. It is nestled on a quiet tree lined residential street. We offer a beautiful 400 sq foot very spacious tall ceiling stand-alone unit. You have your own entrance into a private yard.
Located in the heart of the Historic Alberta Arts district the Gem is sure to deliver a unique experience in custom designed, space efficient housing & convenient access to some of Portland's hottest spots, just steps away from diverse restaurants, natural food grocery stores, yoga, massage studios etc… You can walk or bike though one of our numerous beautiful parks or community gardens. There are also bus lines within a few blocks walk that take you all over the city or rent a car to go. We love our neighborhood for offering the diversity of all these things, but with the peace and quiet of a neighborhood
The open, vaulted, light-filled space will make the tiny home seem much bigger than it appears. It has everything you need whether you are visiting PDX for a few days or for an extended stay.
We wanted the stand alone building to be tranquil, meditative, efficient, green-friendly environment combining both comfort & practicality in its 400 square footprint with vaulted 18 foot ceilings and private bath combine to make the space feel & function with comfort.
The gem shares a garden (with us and also a couple other renters) with lots of bamboo rustling in the breeze fully landscaped yard space. Perfect for reflecting, reading, relaxing, happy-houring or whatever your heart desires.

-lockbox entry allows for easy 24 hour check in / check out, at your convenience. You'll have complete access to the unit you have rented & garden space.
Interaction with Guests
-We are just a phone call/email/text away! Texts are preferred & we respond promptly to them. You may also use the web site messages as those are pushed as email too. We are pretty hands off & will leave you to enjoy your stay for the most part. We live on the premises.

-The unit is privately owned and property is occupied by the homeowners; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.
-Keep the property and all furnishings in good order, only use appliances for their intended uses & inform us if anything is not working upon your arrival.
-Respect the neighbors - houses are close together in this neighborhood, so please respect noise level after 9p & before 8am. If enjoying the back yard be aware there might be people sleeping just next to you we have strict neighborhood quiet times

Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner.
Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We suggest you bring beach towels. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the units. Laundry mat is just a few blocks away.
-The property is furnished and includes queen sized bed, couch, all kitchen utensils, cookware, dining ware, french press coffee maker, hot water pot, stove, toaster, crockpot, blender, silverware, towels, sheets, spices, some condiments, iron, ironing board, TV and dvd/vcr player.

-We do not keep the kitchen fully stocked with every item you may need, but do leave condiments, however we cannot guarantee everything you may need will be out there, only the stocked items are guaranteed and the grocery is 3 blocks away.

-Maximum Occupancy: The maximum number of guests is limited to 2 persons.

-Cleaning Fee: for every stay there is a $60 cleaning fee per visit. For bookings over 29 days our cleaning fee is $150. For guest staying 30 days if you wish a weekly cleaning that can be arranged.
-PETS: pets are allowed with a $50 per pet cleaning fee. This is required for all pets. It goes towards the hours of extra cleaning time. No more than one dog. You must clean up after your pets on your own in the yard and any messes they make in the space. If the animal destroys any property you are required to pay for damages.
We do not allow dogs to be left on property alone if they bark. Dogs must be on leash at all times and no urinating on property.
!!we do have cats who spend time on the catio if your dog is aggressive to them please do not bring them.

We loved our stay at the small cottage. It was like being in the middle of a lovely garden.We were walking distance to restaurants in the Alberta district. Very comfortable accommodations with every thing you need. There isn’t air conditioning but plenty of fans so we never felt it was hot. I highly recommend renting this place for a fun location in Portland

The neighborhood this property was in was well suited for short trips to eateries, coffee shops and bakeries. The studio was adequate and had the necessities one would expect. We had a great stay overall! The place was super charming and in a great location. It was quite hot at night though even with the windows open and fans on. Coming from Texas, it would have been much more pleasant at night if there was ac. Love the sitting area outside as well!

Awesome location and so cute
This place was great! Super cute little studio/1 bed right near Alberta. Host were excellent communicators, I felt very safe, the house and property was gorgeous! Parking was a little tricky but that’s true for Portland in general! I cant recommend this place enough and if you go in the summer you’ll hit by the wonderful smell of flowers as you make your way to the back. Will stay again.

Nestled in at the Little Red Gem
The Little Red Gem is a backyard stand alone single unit that feels very spacious inside. It is tastefully designed and well stocked with appliances, dishes, etc. The bed was super comfortable. There is an outdoor seating area in the beautiful garden. I'm a light sleeper, so I was thankful that the neighborhood was quiet, even on the evening of the Fourth of July. It is walking distance to many eateries as well. It is pretty close to the Alberta Arts District. I highly recommended this VRBO.

What an (almost) perfect home away from home. We arrived and it was dark outside and in the side yard. Thankfully they did have some motion detecting lights so we could see a little better. Definitely not fun dragging your luggage through the beautiful flagstone yard but worth it. The house was great, all the amenities we needed. Good water pressure. The bed was a little tight on the sides for my 69 y.o. Mom but doable. The overhead fan and supplied personal fan they supplied was enough to keep us hot ladies comfortable though it is important to notice there is no air conditioning so I wonder how it would be in the heat of summer. Great neighborhood, beautiful garden and plants all around us! Would definitely stay there again!

A Concordia Gem
Wonderful compact place in a lovely garden setting. Our hosts Chris and Jen were available for any issues or questions that came up. Nice quiet neighborhood with great shops and restaurants within walking distance. The property is in a great location for going into downtown Portland, the Zoo and Japanese Gardens, and exploring the Columbia River gorge.
We will definitely be looking for the availability of this property next time we visit our son in Portland!

Perfect space for two. Great neighborhood for walking and getting morning coffee, close to downtown without the congestion. Apartment is nicely decorated and suppliesd with everything you need. We did not meet the owner but she was easy to reach via messaging and she made us feel welcome.

Did not stay at place neighborhood is in bad part of Portland my 2021 vehicle stood out like a sore thumb., if I could of found a place to park it on street. Portland area where my tires would of been slashed ,windows, broke, and most likely robbed of vehicle contents. Worth it to me not to stay and look at money loss as insurance payment . Sorry folks do not recommend.

Beautiful little gem in Alberta Arts!
We had a wonderful time staying at the Little Red Gem with Jennifer and Chris! The space felt like a garden oasis, was very clean and comfortable, perfect temperature for us (nice and cool at night) but I could see using the heater in the winter to make it cozy! It had everything we needed and was minutes away from great restaurants and coffee shops, walking. Thank you for your hospitality, we’ll be back!

We enjoyed our stay. It was big enough for two. The shower had good flow and the bathroom was roomy.. Location was great. The place was well-heated and had plenty of dishes and cooking supplies. It is quiet until the neighbor comes home (diesel vehicle is very loud and parks right next to the unit). The bedroom is super small, but workable. There are no dressers, but you can make the cupboard work for you with some creativity. The owner was very responsive to anything we needed. It worked for us.

This lovely little place in a fab location Was perfect for a two week visit, close but not too close to my daughter. The sweet little house was sparkling clean, well-equipped, with responsive hosts. My little pup and I thoroughly enjoyed our home away from home and would cheerfully stay there again! Pro tip: be sure to walk up to Biga Pizza for delicious pizza and great salads.

Property managers were helpful and easy to access. The bed was comfortable. It was especially nice to have the small courtyard with seating for 4 in their tucked-away-back yard. Would have been helpful to know the street was blocked off as it made getting in, late at night, very confusing.

Hidden Gem
This little gem is tucked away behind the main house & an additional downstairs VRBO rental. Despite this it is extremely private. We didn't see the other tenants the entire time we were there. The owner responded quickly to questions. The unit was warm, clean & perfect! It's a half block to coffee, restaurants & shopping & an additional block to the main Alberta shopping area. Our daily coffee walks were one of the highlights for us. It's a short drive to downtown Portland & 1.5 hours to Cannon Beach. We look forward to our next stay!
