About this house rental
This stunning lakeside estate is located just 1½ hours north of NYC in the Berkshire foothills. Minimum rental is 3 days except during the peak season (generally Memorial Day week to Labor Day week), when rentals are 7 day minimum and run Saturday to Saturday.
The Lake House offers a 4-season vacation destination for the family that’s looking for something truly unique, including use of the estate-owned, private 35-acre lake. The property offers a spacious, comfortable area for family gatherings or holidays, a group of friends looking for an escape from urban living, or small to medium-sized weddings and other events. (Contact the owner for event pricing and details on additional guest space in the 2 bedroom carriage house apartment across the lake.) Perched on a peninsula along the shores of Lake Weil, The Lake House is a 4-bedroom contemporary home offering spectacular lake views from nearly every window. The house and property are family-friendly, senior-friendly, and wheelchair accessible: The lawn slopes gradually down to the private beach (no stairs), the first floor bedroom has a connecting door to the adjacent full bathroom, and there is a ramp to the front door. Whatever the time of year, whether your group is an extended family with parents, grandparents, kids, and grand kids, just your immediate family, or some friends looking to spend time together, The Lake House will feel like you’ve come home.
WINTER: A calm blanket of ice typically covers most of the lake. If there’s snow, bundle up and build a friendly snowman or flop down on the ground to make a snow angel. Feeling more energetic? Skiing is available at Thunder Ridge, just 20 minutes away. If you’re feeling too warm and cozy inside to leave, just relax by the fire inside and enjoy the view. The area is bursting with wildlife, so don’t be surprised to see deer, turkeys, foxes, maybe even a bobcat or bear. Any open water will likely attract ducks and geese, and bald eagles frequently make use of it to hunt and fish. After dark, play backgammon, cards, or one of the many board games provided. Make some popcorn, kick back, and watch a movie together on the huge flat-screen TV.
SPRING: Take advantage of fabulous views of the lake as it’s visited by numerous species of migrating ducks. Use the binoculars and spotting scope to see them courting, and later, showing off their offspring. Eagles, herons, swans, hawks, muskrats, otters, fox, and deer may also visit to round out your wildlife viewing. Watch the mists as they swirl and dance just above the water. Fishing is available as a year-round sport, as Lake Weil is home to White Rock Fishing Preserve, stocked with trout, as well as hosting natural populations of bass, catfish, perch, and pan fish. Picnic on the lawn after you’ve played a rousing game of badminton and the kids have tired themselves out on the trampoline. In the evening, sip some wine and take time to appreciate the gorgeous sunset, with its colors reflected in the serene waters.
SUMMER: The long, lazy days just beg you to enjoy a swim in the warm water, or bask in the sun as you lounge on the groomed, sandy beach. Looking for something more adventurous? Head out to explore the lake on one of the kayaks or canoes provided. See how close you can get to one of the resident turtles before it disappears, like a flash, back under water. Want some old-fashioned, family fun? The game room above the barn is a great place for friendly rivalries to develop as you play pool, ping pong, or foosball. For outside fun, try your hand at horseshoes, make up a Frisbee golf course, or see who can catch the biggest fish. Then sit around a fire on the beach, make s’mores, and tell ghost stories until it’s time for bed.
FALL: The change of season paints the surrounding hills a stunning blend of vibrant gold, orange, and red. The lake water is still warm from the summer sun, so be sure to bring your swimsuit. Take a hike along part of the Appalachian Trail, which runs along the ridge of Schaghticoke Mountain seen across the lake. Head across Bulls Bridge, an authentic covered bridge, into nearby Kent, CT to browse the shops and treat yourself to some hot chocolate or cappuccino. Indulge yourself by sampling wines at one of the region's award-winning wineries. Watch for migrating ducks splashing around, eagles and osprey seeking their next meal, and graceful swans gliding regally along the tranquil water.
Relaxation comes easily at The Lake House. After all, you’re home.
NOTE: Peak season reservations run Saturday to Saturday with a 7-day minimum stay. Peak season runs from Memorial Day week through Labor Day week.

Three generations and two dogs thoroughly enjoyed the privacy, the quiet, the over the top amenities provided at this amazing house. We could not believe the thoughtfulness of both indoor and outdoor games, little extras everywhere, even for the dogs!
We will absolutely be back.

Our family of 7 had the best time celebrating Christmas together at The Lake House!!! Upon arrival, we were greeted with twinkling lights (outside as well as on a large evergreen plant inside which became our makeshift Christmas tree!!), a fruit basket, and a bottle of wine…
The house had everything we needed (and more) for an amazing couple of days spent playing games, reading by the fire, enjoying the lakeside firepit, bird and nature watching (notably eagles, swans, nature walks/runs, and even a heron or two), and preparing wonderful meals as a group. And while we were definitely ‘in the country’, it was just a short hop to nearby grocery stores and bakeries (Cousins is a bakery and pizzeria that we visited twice…solid pizza and an amazing creation that was part soft chocolate chip cookie, part cannoli).
My review would not be complete without an enthusiastic THANK YOU to property manager Laurie and owner John who responded at lightning speed to the few questions we had and provided updates and helpful info throughout our booking process and stay. Truly, they are exceptionally gracious and thoughtful hosts.
We are already discussing when we’ll return!!!!

Everything was designed for the visitor: all the amenities needed, terrific organization of entertainment from lakeside accommodations to spectacular game room. Even though someone could live there, it was particularly careful to pay attention to little tings that only visitors would appreciate. I'd stay again, but this time, longer.

We rented this property as a wedding venue. Communication was very pleasant and transparent until a couple of weeks before the wedding. The event contract was presented a few weeks prior to check-in and contained information that had not been previously disclosed. In order to meet the terms of the contract, we had to make very last minute adjustments and the property manager came to the house on our wedding day to take photos of our setup. The game room had rules that we were not aware of (kids cannot use pool table). With 5 kids in our party, that essentially made it unavailable for use. The damage deposit is contingent upon sharing event setup photos for future marketing.
It would be helpful to make the contract available upon initial discussions of hosting an event on the property to aid in planning and transparency. Had I known all of the terms and expectations at the onset, I’m not sure that I would have chosen this property.
Having said that, the property is beautiful and well maintained. The homeowners and their family are lovely to work with and obviously take great pride and care into sharing their home. It made for a beautiful and peaceful wedding venue.

I stayed at this amazing Wingdale house with my family of four adult boys and 2 girlfriends/fiancés. There was so much to do! We swam across the lake, played volleyball, beam bag toss and the boys even found the trampoline a blast. When it cloudy we walked to the house across the driveway for some pool and ping pong and other games. We even find a minatirr golf course and ice cream parlor nearby as well as a wonderful hike. In retrospect, staying at the house was more Fun than venturing out. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and even emailed me about items that were left there. You can’t go wrong!

Great views from all rooms of the house. Plenty of watercraft to enjoy on the private lake. Lots of games to play inside and outside. Great beach and fire pit to relax and make s’mores. This is a really great house located only 10 minutes from Kent. Very quiet, spacious, and fun for everyone.

This was the most well appointed house we’ve ever rented! Anything you might need, both inside and out, can be easily found here. We barely left the house and simply relaxed playing games and watching movies during the rain. We ranged in age from 29-85 and all enjoyed it so much. The game room in the detached garage was an added bonus which we used a lot! Small towns are close by but the house is very secluded. We highly recommend renting this property.

The property offers a range of things to do for all age ups. If there was any thing, I could possibly say it would be treatment of the trees. If there was some type of bug spray done on a weekly/monthly basis to possibly control the horseshoe flies, along with gnats and all of the flying creatures that would’ve only made my state that much better. Other than that everything was perfect. We had an awesome weekend appreciate the property.

We had a great week at the Lake House. We were really impressed at the outdoor space and kid-friendly play area (the pictures don't do it justice, there is so much!). The kids loved the beach and all the toys provided, and they all took at least one trip out onto the lake. The lake was a little warm and weedy for us adults to swim in, although we all got out in the canoes and the rowboat. The game room had a good selection of music (it only took us one try to remember how a tape deck worked!), but we wished it wasn't in the detached garage. Our hosts were responsive to our one or two emails during the week and as we left. There were spices and condiments, coffee and tea, and cleaning supplies ready for us to use, and plenty of cooking/baking equipment and food storage containers.

Our Lake House retreat!
We finally got the whole family together for a special week at the Lake House. All 10 of us had a wonderful time swimming, fishing, kayaking, playing in the sand and taking walks on the trails. Ending the evenings with a nice fire on the beach was perfect. The house is just as described and the added air conditioning during the heat wave was a huge welcome. Communication with the owner was quick and easy. I highly recommend the Lake House for a relaxing getaway with something for everyone. We are looking forward to coming together again next year at the Lake House!

great place for a family get together; relaxing & private.

Our Fifth Summer at the Lake House!
Another magical two weeks at the lake house, thank you to the Fila family! Your home is beautiful, comfortable, and a perfect family getaway. We bring grandparents, adults, and kids, and every one of us love this special time on your beautiful lake. In no particular order, we: kayak, swim, play pingpong, barbecue, jump on the trampoline, read books in shady comfy chairs, fish, canoe, and build epic nightly fires on the lake's shore. We hope to see you again next summer, thank you again!

Private Peaceful Paradise
My husband and I spent a week at the Lake House with our senior dog. We selected this property specifically for our dog's needs - a gentle sloping yard to our own private beach and lake and a first floor master bedroom. This place did not disappoint! The exterior of the property is like a park with mature trees, a swing set, trampoline, lawn games, seating options galore, kayaks, canoes, fishing equipment, fire ring on the beach. We also loved the wildlife - deer, fox, squirrels, swans, ducks, turtles, and a variety of birds to watch in the evenings. I had wanted to visit some local restaurants and breweries, but I loved the property so much that I didn't leave the property once! There is literally something for everyone at this home As for the interior - we loved the welcome basket and doggy treats, the first floor king sized bedroom, the towels and linens and the great water pressure for showering after a day in the lake. It was nice to be able to check in, unpack, and then unwind for the week! I'm already recommending this property to family and friends!! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful property with us!

Great lakeside relaxation!
Really enjoyed our quiet 'downtime' at this beautiful lakeside nature retreat. The house was very homey and well-stocked and had plenty of space to spread out. The welcome basket was a really nice touch of hospitality. The outdoor play space makes this place super special with boats, canoe, and kayaks plus loads of outdoor and indoor games. The nearby towns were quaint and offered interesting food and shopping options. All in all, we had a great week here!

Beautiful getaway
If you like to look out the window right onto a quite, serene lake, this is the place. It is a lovely spot, whether lounging on the beach or sitting inside on a rainy day enjoying the cozy feel of the water falling on the lake. Well taken care of, and I think the most responsive, helpful host ever. Thank you for sharing your home.

Peaceful stay at the Lake
Listing described it perfectly, so peaceful in the lake. Views are relaxing and beautiful. House was ready and waiting for us. We brought our teenage son and his 2 friends , they had a blast. Away from everything and exploring things to do like old times., fishing, boating, games, even found a mini golf nearby.

Great getaway
The house was amazing and had everything that one could need. We enjoyed the views, the game room, games, walking around, the swing set and just being in such a beautiful location. My family does want to return to have more fun another time. The welcome basket was such a delight and even treats for our cat! The property manger was easy to contact and talk to about any questions we had. Thank you!

Perfect place to spend the holidays. The pictures don’t do it justice. The house was warm and inviting, with views from every window. Plenty of room for our group of 7 and 2 dogs. The lake and wildlife made for a wonderful stay!

Amazing
We had an amazing time at the lake house. The home had all we needed to host Thanksgiving. There were so many activities from board games and billiards to hiking to a play set for the kids. All of this is to say nothing of the natural beauty of the property. It was extraordinary.

Labor Day at the Lakehouse
What a beautiful place, inside and out! And so much to do….kayaking, swimming, games, fishing, relaxing. Nearby restaurants were perfect for take out, and the house had all the extras you could imagine. Our favorite was the evening campfires by the lake. Would be perfect for any season. Hope to return soon!

We rented The Lake House for our 4 young adult sons and their fiancées or girlfriends to vacation with us. Everyone loved the serenity and privacy of the property. We spent several afternoons just floating off the dock and enjoying the view. The house is the best equipped rental we have ever had. Anything we thought we might need was available to us, from coffee, a variety of teas, spices, cooking oils, paper products and a huge variety of pots, pans and food serving items. The beds were very comfortable and there were many extra sheets, blankets and pillows..We loved using the kayaks, rowboat and the many floats as well as the fire pit at night. We also enjoyed the disc golf cages, badminton and the game room above the barn each night. We already know we will return next year since everyone truly had a wonderful, relaxing vacation at The Lake House.

A special spot!
We've been renting vacation homes for almost 15 years now in various spots around New England, and The Lake House is by the best we've found! We look for privacy, serenity, availability of boats (but not motors!), and well laid out for sleeping. We had a smaller group this year with only 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 teens, so we had more than enough room. We appreciated having three bathrooms. So much to do. We kayaked around the lake. Our grandson fished. We enjoyed nightly campfires looking out onto the peaceful lake. The only negative was the fact that some sort of invasive plant is growing in the lake. All in all, a wonderful time!

Great family getaway
I stayed at The Lake House alone last Fall and fell in love. I thought it would be a wonderful place to bring my children and grandchildren and I was right! My one grandson caught his first fish and they both kayaked for their first time! They said they loved the house because it had so much to do! My dogs were also happy there playing fetch in the lake! It was a wonderful week!

It Isn't Summer Without This Lake House
This summer makes our fourth visit to this lovely house and property. All three generations of our family come - kids, parents, grandparents - and we are all relaxed, happy, active, and have a wonderful time together. The kids love our kayak adventures, swimming in the lake, and the new foosball table in the barn game room. My husband and I love the views, the woods, and the evening campfire. The grandparents love the deck on their master suite, fishing, and exploring the lake on the rowboat. Truly there is something for everyone. John and Laurie are wonderful and thoughtful hosts. Thank you, and we will see you next year!

Great Getaway
We really enjoyed this family trip. The owners have put a lot of thought into making the house peaceful and cozy. Pleasant surprises were fresh fruit, a bottle of wine, lots of cooking spices and condiments, many kayaks and lawn games, and beautiful views of the lake. We felt like we were getting away from it all, whether it was boating, fishing, hiking around, or just relaxing. We definitely plan on returning.

Relaxing oasis
If you are looking to get away this is the place to go. We enjoyed getting out on the boats everyday. The property is gorgeous. We didn't really swim in the lake but the kids loved playing at the edge of the water. The house had everything we could need to cook our meals. Hosts were responsive with any questions. Great experience overall
