About this house rental
Embrace maritime history at the enchanting Williams Home & Smith Cottage! Built by the relatives of one of the original families who settled on the east side of Mystic River, the 1807 Williams Home property oozes with history and character! You're going to fall in love with this nautical haven in the heart of Old Mystic, CT, the original colonial settlement near the Head O' the River~ only a 3-mile voyage to Mystic Seaport Museum and eateries. You can stroll or bike ride just around the corner to the scenic River Rd. Enjoy the comfy beds, nautical treasures, and backyard for a cozy firepit evening or a summer barbeque.
We invite you on a sensory journey through time while you stay in this historic gem! 🙂
The history buff in you will love the story behind the 1807 Williams Home. The building started as the Wayside Inn, a regular stopping point for stagecoaches on their New London-Providence runs. On January 17, 1840, Secretary of State Daniel Webster, traveling by sleigh, stopped in for a drink on his way to the Groton Ferry to catch a boat to New York! The Smith Guesthouse was named in honor of being the local blacksmith shop in the early 1900s. If only walls had ears, imagine the stories they could recount. Perhaps you could listen and hear the walls whisper words of the past!

10.0 / 10.0
My husband and I were looking for a special way to celebrate my dad's 90th birthday. We could not have picked a better place to celebrate. Mystic was well positioned for everyone in the travel party. When we saw the listing for the Williams home and Smith cottage, we knew we found something special. From the moment we booked up to our departure, we received topnotch attention from our gracious hostess, Debbie. Communication was terrific. We were a large group so we booked both properties. They are both an absolute treat! We felt immersed in maritime and American history. Just wonderful with so much to look at, but with lots of modern day amenities. We highly recommend making this your home base when visiting Mystic. We have had the privilege to stay at many Vrbo properties. This one will be hard to top!! Thank you for your amazing attention to detail and hospitality!

We had the most wonderful, welcoming stay at this home in January. The host, Debbie, was so accommodating and communicative. The house had so many thoughtful touches, including homemade pie! Every bedroom was beautifully designed and the neighborhood was darling. 10/10 recommend!!
