Had a great time, the layout of the house was fantastic. Some issues we had: Some TV's didn't work properly, house needs a good cleaning (cob webs in windows, oven was horrible, one burner worked properly on the outdoor grill). The hot tub was extremely hard to adjust (I got in it once for about 10 minutes, very disappointed). I love this house, beautiful from the outside, plenty of fridge space, freezer space, porch areas were fantastic also. For the amount of money I spent, I did expect it to be a little more clean.

1st, I’d like to say we’d go again in a heartbeat. This is a true retreat. Views of mountains and lake are incredible, with plenty of places to enjoy them from the house and dock. The property manager was helpful and easy to communicate with. The gravel road is a bit long and treacherous but signs are helpful and we thought it was well maintained. Our visit was for a family wedding, with families at other lake homes nearby. Renting a boat to visit other docks and enjoy the lake was a huge bonus. Wi-Fi worked as well as could be expected in a location such as this, especially with multiple devices. We never turned on one of the many TV’s. We enjoyed being together, swimming, kayaks, hot tub, playing cards and games, putting together house puzzles with a handful of missing pieces and cooking and grilling. Having a meal plan is a must. Hit the market before you arrive, it will take a good hour to run out for something. The marina market and restaurant is not open everyday. In my opinion the house is best for only able bodied guests, and not young children that need constant supervision. Dark steep stairs. Rugs and furniture corners protrude from everywhere. The furniture is large scale throughout. I’m 5’7” and could barely use the master bath sink it was so massive. The house seems intentionally curated with lots of things to appreciate which only added to its charm and our good time. Some items have suffered damage and the property overall needs detailed cleaning and maintenance. I don’t know how the cleaning crew can choose what to focus on in the time they have. Cleanliness is relative anyway. For this massive house I’d say it was good. We felt the bathrooms, bedrooms, beds and floors were clean enough. There is plenty of linens. I don’t think there was a thing missing overall. You just have to feel comfortable exploring. The kitchen was our only challenge. Of course this is the space used the most and where everyone gathers. It was not very clean and every drawer and cabinet was a random mishmosh of pieces, mostly dirty. I’ve experienced this with other large homes as well. We tried to put things in a place that made sense, and it was nice that there was plenty of plates, glassware, flatware, and anything you needed. Except no sharp knives so my brother in law brought his own when he arrived. There is no pantry space in the kitchen so you have to get creative. I’d like to thank the owners for sharing this magnificent home.

This one-of-a-kind lodge is on one of the prettiest lakes in N.C., with gorgeous views of the mountains and easy access to a pontoon via Lakes End Marina for fun outings. The road to get there, however, is badly in need of grading, and the house needed a little sprucing up too (burned-out light bulbs, lights not working on the dock, non-working hot tub, disorganized kitchen, no dishwasher soap, house cold and dark upon arrival). But the furnishings and decor are like a museum, and we enjoyed discovering new finds throughout the week. The veranda overlooking the lake is a fabulous spot for morning coffee or an al fresco gathering.

Beautiful location, dated appliances
We absolutely loved the house and the property. Beautiful location, spacious stay, stunning views, great hiking. The only complaint was we had several issues with appliances: dishwasher wasn't working, heat went out and had to be fixed, icemaker didn't work, and the dryer vents were clogged and so the dryer took several cycles to dry clothes.

Forge Lake Lodge is a magical place to spend your time in Nantahala. My husband and I stayed there with our wedding party for our wedding weekend and could not have asked for a better experience. I only wish we had asked more people to stay in the house. It's huge! The master suite is bigger and better than we had imagined. Everything is so comfortable and spacious. The only negative is the length of the drive to get to and from the house from the main road. It's about a 10-15 minute drive depending on how comfortable you are driving on gravel. It's understandably long considering the position of the house on the lake. Not an issue if you are using the house as a retreat. However, since we had a lot of wedding related activities away from the house, we decided to rent a pontoon boat from the nearby marina for the whole weekend. I would highly recommend this option if you plan to use the cafe at the marina regularly as your dining option or have friends you want to visit in another lake house. It made it easy to transport a lot of people at once so that we could limit the amount of people that had to drive a car. Not to mention that it's pretty nice to just be able to take the boat out on the lake whenever you want. We really enjoyed the fact that the house had two main levels for people to hang out in. The lower level has a TV, bar area, its own terrace, and stand alone bathrooms which makes it just as comfortable to hang out in as the ground level. I really have nothing negative to say about the house. My friends are all talking about going back again some day with a bigger group because we would love to have more time to just enjoy the house without other obligations.

Simply Amazing
Forge Lake Lodge is a one of a kind, breathtaking, peaceful and relaxing home rental on a pristine, crystal clear and calm lake. We happen to run across a waterfall during one of our boating adventures!
Luke took care of us and checked in frequently or had another individual on stand-by should he be unavailable. Specifically, we wanted to have some provisions available on our arrival and a catered dinner for my daughters surprise "Avengers Themed Graduation Party" (yes, 18 and loves the Avengers). Luke directed us to Chef Jeff (J.S. Servin Enterprises) who knocked it out of the park! He was great to talk with and he food was amazing!
We regularly rent luxury homes for 10-25 guests across the US. My husband, my daughter, myself and the 5 other guests would highly recommend this home to anyone and would encourage renters to secure a boat or pontoon! You must explore and enjoy Lake Nantahala!

Lovely week on a beautiful lake
Two families (9 people in all) had a great time during a 7-day stay. The location on the lake is fantastic with long, beautiful views. Very private. Amazing architecture with the huge log and stone construction. Big wrap-around decks and balconies. Amazing Master Suite on the top level. The three bedrooms on the lower level share a common bathroom that has two showers and two toilet closets...all very nicely done. Just need to be comfortable with sharing. The relatively new dock is big and fun...no problem with mooring a speedboat. The water was perfect for swimming, tubing, etc. About 79 degrees. The home's decorations and furniture are very unique and fun. Lots of taxidermy throughout...made for fun ghost stories with the kids. The only negatives worth mentioning:
1. The internet was very slow on macs/iphones and we couldn't get it to work at all on androids/pcs.
2. Zero cell coverage anywhere within 20 minutes of the home. A positive to us!
3. Some of the deck furniture is showing its age and needed some repair...but we still had plenty of comfortable seating.
4. The kitchen had very little available cabinet storage for food. But plenty of refrigerator and freezer space both in the kitchen and garage. The pots and pans, while plentiful, are showing their age.
It was a relatively expensive rental, but we'd do it again! Will be great memory for the kids.

Great getaway
Amazing location and home. The landscaping alone was incredible. Only complaint would be confusion created by not knowing in advance the exact arrangements of bedrooms and bathrooms. The kind of information that’s really helpful in advance would be: we are bedrooms are located, size of bed, whether or not bathrooms are attached or nearby and whether or not they are shared with others. When there are 18 people in your group you really need that information in advance. In a house that size it is quite an ordeal to figure out who should sleep wear when everyone arrives at the same time. Lots of chaos in the beginning.

A Weekend to Remember
We spent the weekend at Forge Lake Lodge amongst family and friends to renew our vows on our 15th wedding Anniversary. Everyone was amazed with this remarkable home. It exceeded all of my expectations. The pictures do not do it justice. The home is filled with museum quality antiques and artwork. Exploring the house and all the different pieces made the stay even more special and we appreciated the work and thought that went into making this remarkable home. The sunsets on the deck were breathtaking and the views of Nantahala Lake just melt all your stress away. The concierge Luke made us feel very welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay. We will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend this home.

Beautiful place!
Luke- the property manager was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I would suggest the owner pay a bit more attention to the details: pots and pans worn out, one ac unit was not functional.
But- again- I would rent again in a heartbeat. Beautiful view, plenty of room, gray for large families.
4.8
Unbelievable experience!
Luke, the property manager, thoroughly communicated with us prior to our arrival. He was there and greeted us on the front porch, which was a very nice touch. We received a thorough walk-thru that was filled with stories of the home - from planning and construction to how the home was decorated.
Our visit could not have been better - we highly recommend this property!

Beautiful and great get away
One of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. Beautiful inside and outside. A little hard to get to. Luke the property manager was very nice and helpful. We will be going back.

Lake House
The house was great and all had a wonderful time. Our stay would have been even better if the internet access was improved along with the TV reception. It seemed like once it rained, TV was out for 6 hours. Seems some trees around the dish need to be trimmed!

March 2018 Stay
We had an amazing time at the Forge Lake Lodge (our 2nd time). House was great and Chef Diane (recommended by house managers) was awesome! Will definitely stay a third time!

Winter Wonderland
We visited with the family on Dec 7- Dec 10, It started snowing Dec 8 and we had 8-10 inches of snow, it was beautiful. Scotty, father, and his two sons, Dalton and Dillon, helped us down to the main road since we drove our cars to the lodge, SUV 4 WD is the best for the terrain. Thank You guys we had a great time.
4.8
Amazing!
We had a group of 12 that gets together once a year at a different place somewhere in the country. We've been doing this for 20+ years, and over the years, a few places have made their way into a group of return destinations. It was overwhelmingly decided that Forge Lake Lodge will be one of these places going forward. The house is incredible, and so is the lake which we felt was our own private paradise (very little lake traffic). The marina is just across the lake making boat rental a breeze. The marina has great food too. I highly recommend this vacation house.
4.8
Not perfect, but the view cannot be beat!
We just returned from a five night stay at Forge Lake Lodge. We were a group of 10. Our initial impression was what an incredible place this is. Our group rents homes all over the world and this place is quite unique. The home is plenty large and all the rooms are very well equipped. Most of the bedrooms have Lake views. The lake is spectacular and quite calm since most of it is protected from development.
We did have a few issues however.
1. The A/C on the bottom floor was broken during the first two nights of our stay but that was not so much of a problem as the nights were quite cool.
2. The jukebox which sends music throughout the home and ,I assume to the outdoor spaces ,was broken.
3. The oven was hard to regulate as it is obviously in need of recalibration.
4. The master bedroom had a beautiful copper tub. However, after filling it only about 1/4 full it began to leak all over the floor.
5. The gas fireplaces in the front main floor bedroom and the master bedroom upstairs are difficult to operate and seem to cycle on and off at random.
6. The advertised outdoor waterfall was broken.
These may not seem like major issues but the management company and owner do advertise many of these extra amenities and the house did not deliver on some of them.
I would also suggest to the management company/owner....put a few more signs on the road leading up to the property, especially where it forks right at The Wingate home. We all got confused there! It is a windy narrow road so all the help you can give your renters the better....!!
I must say that the management company did communicate very well with us. Sasha and Luke were very pleasant to deal with.

Good Times
A short 1.5 mile single lane switchback gravel road will lead you to this wonderful lodge. Our first trip down this road was a bit scary but we soon became to enjoy the drive.
Our group of 11 adults had plenty of room to roam or escape.
We spent our days sitting on the rear patio, hiking the nearby trails and sightseeing. Our evenings were spent by the massive upstairs fireplace and preparing meals.
The open floor plan handles a large group with ease.
The lake is beautiful but the temps were too cold for swimming or boating. No one in our group took advantage of the hot tub.
The negatives are few but include:
Light Switches are difficult to figure out.
Too many remote controls.
No working elevator (we had elderly parents with us).
No instructions for gas fireplace.
The Positives
The View
House in great condition
The View
Accommodates a large group with ease
The View.
The bedrooms seem to block out noise from the common areas.
The View.
We loved the Lodge and did not want to leave.
Oh yes. We were there to celebrate a 60th birthday. The caretaker helped us arrange for Chef Daniel Baker to prepare a meal for us at the Lodge on the birthday. Just one word - WOW !!!! You need to do that at least once !!

Beautiful Home with a stunning view!
Our family had a reunion at this lovely home and found it to be everything we had hoped it would be. The lake with the surrounding mountains is so beautiful and we all enjoyed swimming and relaxing around the water. The view from the deck was amazing! We recommend renting a boat from the local marina to explore the lake more. We would recommend this home and location to anyone and in fact, are planning to return next year! Everyone we dealt with in reserving this home and arriving at the site were extremely nice and helpful.
4.8
A magnificent lodge located on a beautiful lake.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our 4 children, their spouse, and 5 grandchildren. The lodge and lake were as described and we all fell in love with both of them. Our plans were to drive out most days and explore the area and enjoy activities of river rafting, zip lining, etc, but we never left the premises. The lodge was unbelievable, lavishly decorated with antiques, a bedroom and bath for each family,a large accommodating kitchen, a wrap around balcony on both levels that revealed the beauty of the lake and mountains. The weather was perfect for swimming, even for our toddlers. Everyone enjoyed the pontoon boat, jet ski, paddle boards, kayaks, and fishing. A memorable week without cell phones. WE WOULD LOVE TO RETURN SOME DAY!
4.8
exotic and luxurious
multi leveled, full of natural light, deer horns and bear carvings. A spacious kitchen, a jukebox, fireplaces, best sheets EVER, wraparound balconies, lots of stovetop burners for family cooking. Everything is exquisitely appointed: details, no expense spared. We were 11 adults and 4 children and it was never crowded, or too noisy: so many places to wander off to. The lake is expansive and worth renting jet skis to get around. Totally private. A bit 'isolated' and regular cellphones don't work there, but the house phone works. WiFi!
My only caution is 'getting there': one way ,twisting, unpaved mountain road with steep drop offs. Don't drive at night!
