About this house rental
We have excellent WiFi service for those who wish to work from the property.
This beach lover's ocean front property, which also borders a lush palm-surrounded riverbed, is located on the sand directly in front of the well known 'Burro's' surf break, in a community called Punta del Burro. Punta del Burro is one of the earliest Punta Mita developments, which accounts for both its charm and its isolation – it is not adjacent to any town or village, and, as the rest of Punta Mita, it is far from any of the problems currently associated with border towns and other urban centers in Mexico. It is private, it is safe, and you will experience the luxury of being able to watch the surf from either the patio in front of the main house, the private palapa off the Master Bedroom, or under the palm trees in the cozy sand-level sitting area. (Casa Selvatica no tiene alberca.)
The property consists of 4 'casas':
1. Casa Selvatica, the main villa in front on the beach, and the bungalows ("casas") in the gardens in back. Casa Selvatica is over 2000 square feet, has a living room, dining room, well-stocked kitchen, a guest room (queen bed) with patio and an entire master bedroom suite (king bed) upstairs with private palapa/patio look out area out over the ocean. Sleeps 4.
Just behind the main house of Casa Selvatica, in the palm tree forest, are the bungalows which have a slight view of the ocean through the palm trees and out the creek bed:
2. Casa Lilia which sits at the top of the path down to the beach, is a studio with queen bed and a great kitchenette, indoor and outdoor showers and an outdoor patio w/ a hand carved table and chairs.
3. Above Casa Lilia, is Casa Buena Suerte, a suite with a large bedroom (king bed), a living room with two sleepable couches and a kitchenette, an interesting bathroom with cupola ceiling in between the two rooms with a shower, all with lots of hand made tile and stone, and an outdoor porch w/ a stone table and chairs (Sleeps 2 - 4)
4. And finally the new Casa Cielo - a loft apartment up in the trees - with bed area, kitchenette, bathroom covered by Palapa (thatched roof), and 2-person copper bathtub/shower and lounges in the open air under the palm trees. Sleeps 2 (Queen bed, outdoor copper tub/shower, kitchenette, dining area.) Casa Cielo is not rented out alone or during rainy season.
The four 'Casas' can sleep from 10 to 12 people and all bedrooms have AC.
CHEF: we have a professionally trained fabulous chef who will shop, prepare your meal, serve and clean up either one, two or three meals a day at very reasonable prices. Inquire re/ rates.
Rental Car: our administrator has fully insured cars he can make available to you also at reasonable rates. He will pick you up at the airport, stop by the market if you wish, bring you home, give you a tour of the property and leave you with the car.
SURFBOARDS/SUPS & OTHER TOYS: There are boogie boards, snorkes/fins and an Italian competition ping pong table on the property. We have a quiver with over 25 surfboards (long boards, short boards, fun boards and long and short soft tops for learning! And we have four Paddle Boards - all of which you can rent while you are at the house. And we have a great teacher who has been known to have a student standing all the way in on the right or left wave directly in front of the house. We have 3 long boards and 2 short boards reserved for experienced surfers.
More information re/ houses/s, property, location, etc.:
Designed by architect Cristina Duque, these houses are full of creative exotic touches and unique approaches to design using tropical hard woods, cantera (Mexican volcanic stone), coral and marble. The large sweeping walkways, open air living areas, and high bamboo ceilings keep the houses cool year round. Tropical rare plants, orchids, haliconias, gingers, palms, cycads, fern trees, etc., dot the lush abundant landscaping designed by botanist Carlos Sacamano. Over 18 varieties of tropical birds are ever-present visitors to this beach, these gardens and the palm forest next to the river bed.
The Casa Selvatica property is located on an acre of land in Punto del Burro, one of Riviera Nayarit's most desirable secluded neighborhoods. The Punta del Burro community is gated, private and secure with 24/7 guard service. It is located approximately 25 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, 5 miles before the Punta De Mita Four Seasons and St. Regis Hotels, 3 miles past the new International Marina in Cruz de Huanacaxtle, 15 minutes from the surf town, Sayulita and 10-15 minutes from major golf courses.. Punto del Burro is secure, quiet, and beautiful, offering spectacular views of the bay as well as a fabulous white sand beach free of crowds and vendors.
If you enjoy walking through gardens and palm forests, you can find at the back of the property a newly planted orchard of many varieties of bananas, papayas, pineapples, oranges, lemons, limes, limas, tangerines, grapefruit, lychees, passion fruit, guavas, guanabanas (cheramoyas), mangos and avocados. Given the incredible growth patterns in the tropics, many of the trees are starting to bear and you may find your own 100 lb. bunch of bananas hanging in front of the house. Depending on the time of year, you might also find a vegetable garden full of many varieties of lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, peas and many herbs: basil, oregano, parsley, chives, cilantro, etc.
The beauty of this property is that not only is it sitting directly on the sand in front of one of the area's best surf breaks, but it borders a lush tropical creek bed with paths that go back through bamboo patches and palm trees ending up in an orchard surrounded by pink and orange bouganvilla plants - a true paradise for surfers, beach lovers, bird watchers, photographers, nature lovers and anyone who relishes the privacy and solitude afforded by a spectacular property and house located at the end of the road!

SURF INFO from Ryan:
The main peak at Burros is a fast rippable right with a short left. Often there is another peak which will have good lefts and the occasional fast right with a fun beach break as well. Directly in front of the house is a very forgiving wave, perfect for beginners - however, many prefer it to the point as it is never crowded. This wave also happens to be perfect for boogie boarders and stand up paddle boarders! Burros is known to hold any size swell as well as be a wave magnet when other spots aren't breaking. I would say the surf is usually chest high with bigger sets.
Other breaks nearby are Destilladeros, Veneros, La Lancha, El Coral, Anclote, El Faro, and, of course, Sayulita.

Our family (seniors/parents/20s and teenagers) spent a great Xmas break at Casa Selvatica. The main & secondary house were beautiful & unique, in amongst the trees. The bedrooms & bathrooms were perfectly fitted & clean. The living room, kitchen & dining room conducive to just hanging out. The decks & lanais were great into the evening. Walked right out onto the beach & we all loved the surfing & swimming.
The chef offered provided great seafood dinners & groceries so we didn't need to leave the gated community. Service staff were friendly & did great. We'd recommend this place for a great beachfront break with extended family or friends.

Everything about this property is perfect. Amazing service from the staff and property owner Lori. Being able to walk right out to two breaks in front of the house was ideal. Even on the smaller days the waves were a ton of fun. The selection of boards made it easy to enjoy the different sizes of waves throughout our trip. Everything you need is at this house.

What a great house & property right on the beach (and so close to a great surf break). Lori and her support team were great and Susana never failed to amaze with the food she prepared. Hope to come back soon!

This house is right on the beach, has lots of surfboards (mostly longboards) to choose from, and great access to a couple of breaks. The main break is about 100 yards down the beach, which is great during low tide. Lori is very friendly and accommodating. We had a very fun trip!

We had an absolute great time in this gorgeous property. The pictures don't do it justice. It is such a cool place for a large family gathering, or as we used it for a wedding celebration/surf vacation. Everything about it is comfortable and magical. Pablo, the property manager and Octavio the Chef were fantastic. We used Octavio's services for both lunch and dinner everyday for our group and it was five star quality! Everything was excellent!

First off the pictures do not do this property justice! We were blown away by the magical design and architecture of Bahia de Banderas. The property is situated oceanfront yet it is tucked away in the jungle where it feels extremely private and secure. We stayed here with my husband, my 2 kids (ages 3 and 1) and another friend and there was more than enough space - we could have easily had another family and several more friends. Lori was extremely responsive to all of our inquiries, Pablo offered door-to-door service from the airport and a rental car directly which was a huge help, and Susannah not only cleaned the house every day but also watched our 1 year old while we explored the surrounding areas. We loved cooking meals every night in the well-appointed open kitchen and could not have asked for a better location to spend our vacation. My husband and buddy caught great waves directly out front too at Punta del Burro. We will definitely be back!

Words can't effectively describe how grateful we are that Lori rents her incredible home! Casa Selvatica and everyone who is associated with it - Pilas, Susanna, Pablo, Ivan, Roberto, Chef Octavio and his team - are truly the most outstanding HomeAway we have ever rented - and we have rented beautiful homes in the Icelandic countryside and the heart of Kyoto. The house is designed to be almost hidden in the landscape - rather than imposed upon it - and when we opened the shutters every morning downstairs - it was like we were part of the jungle and beach. Everything about Casa Selvatica - the plates, the linens, the flow of the house, the beach, the palapas - is just what you need. It is truly heaven. And having Pablo and his team to pick you up and take you back to the airport and for daily check ins and advice - was just what we needed. The grocery store in Bucerias was so well stocked that we were able to shelter in place and surf/paddle board/walk on the quiet and secluded beach - for our week. We so want to return sometime when the virus is under control so that we can explore more of Nayarit and Punta Mita - but we are so grateful to have been able to experience the amazing sanctuary Lori and her team have nurtured at Casa Selvatica.

Recently finished my second stay at Casa Selvatica and I'll be back again. Doesn't matter if you're traveling solo, with your better half, couples, family or with surfing buddies, everyone's gonna be stoked. The house is super cool and the owners have your needs covered, all the necessary facilities/amenities, insights, suggestions, places to dine/go/things to see... whether it's a quiet or romantic week or fun beach trip it's all there. Pretty hard to beat this set up, it's every bit what it's made out to be. Yep, I'll be back for sure!
Thanks for making your place available Lori, it's awesome being your guest!

We have just returned from 9 days of a blissful vacation at Casa Selvatica. Such a wonderful spot, we are already thinking of when we can return!! Lori was so helpful and communicated everything we needed to know about the house and surrounding areas. We have traveled a lot, and this is truly a special place. For those wanting natural beauty, peace and tranquility (with surfing right out front!) Look no further!!!

We just had the privilege of staying in Lori's beautiful home, a beautiful four hour drive from Guadalajara. We stayed for four days in the studio Casa Lilia which was perfect for the two of us and our dog. We bought all of our groceries in the nearby Bucerias and didn't leave the compound for the next three days! The kitchenette in Casa Lilia has everything you need to make all your meals, and if something is missing, Lori will find it for you. Lori was also incredibly helpful with restaurant suggestions, local activities and fun stories. She even helped us find an excellent local vet and also took me to a fun "ropes" workout class in nearby Punta de Mita. She knows everyone in the area and everyone knows her! The house is situated perfectly on a beginner break steps from the house and a more advanced break right down the beach. And there are a variety of surfboards and paddle boards to rent if you didn't bring your own. Even if you don't surf, the house is very romantic and Lori has a huge array of other beach activities ready for you. Don't let the rainy season stop you from coming! It is the perfect time to visit Mexico because there are a lot less people, most days are still sunny and warm and the thunderstorms are breathtaking! We are renting a house up the beach for the week of Christmas, but if we knew about Casa Selvatica first, we would certainly be staying here! Thank you to Lori and Casa Selvatica for a truly amazing time!

It was truly an honor to stay at Selvatica! Easy drive from Puerto Vallarta to a tropical beauty. This home is so unique, you fall in love the minute you walk through the door. The owner and her staff are not only accomodating, they are delightful. All the toys to play in the water and the home is a great place to entertain or just a quiet getaway. Casa Selvatica is charm and elegance. What are you waiting for??

Just returned from Casa Selvatica @ Punta del Burro with several families. A bit worried at first at how the house could handle small children, but Pablo and Lori took care of everything we needed before we even got there...cribs, highchairs, etc. There was plenty of places to play and even a couple of blow up pools the kids got to swim in. I won't even go into the activities for the adults, just read the rest of the reviews, but if your family has the adventurous spirit and wants a memorable, kid friendly, safe and unique place to stay then Casa Selvatica is it!! Next time we won't limit our stay to a week! Thanks Lori and hope to see you sooner than later...

My husband and I just returned from Lori's wonderful home! It was a relaxing oasis by the sea! We did not want to leave the property once we arrived. We had fun surf the entire time right out front. Ortensia the full time maid cooked us a fantastic meal of prawns, rice and salad- she is such a warm and kind woman! Mario the grounds keeper picked us cocoanuts to eat! The property is unique, artsy, whimsicle and open. We look forward to another trip there with a group of our friends to relax, surf, eat and never leave the premises! Thank you so much!!!!!

My family and I had a fantastic week at CasaSelvatica. The video and pictures do not do the place justice. It is truly a magical place, with an incredible amount of detail that you continue to notice the longer you stay there. I can not thinkof a better location to relax with my family and "decompress". Lori and her staff ensured that everything was perfect. The neighborhood was full of friendly people. If you think Mexico is dangerous, just remember, it is a BIG country. I went with 2 little kids and didn't have a worry in the world in Punta Burro. I would describe it as "beyond safe". For a family gathering, the main house is perfect. If it was just me and my wife, both of the appartments are as nice as anything you will find anywhere, and would stay there in a heartbeat. Fully modern setup and decorated with class.

We had the privilege of spending the last part of our honeymoon at Casa Selvetica. It was the best part of our trip. There's this feeling of peace and serenity the minute you walk in the door. The architecture is great and we loved how open everything is. It was relaxing, peaceful. and romantic....everything you dream that your honeymoon is and more. As new surfers, we enjoyed being able to watch the waves from our window and be in the water within minutes. Lori, the owner, makes everything so comfortable that you feel like you're home (thanks again Lori). We're already planning our next trip back.

A group of us stayed here in late July 2010 on a guys surf trip and had a fantastic time. Selvetica is amazing. It was absolutely beautiful - you can see the pride Lori takes in the place from the minute you walk in. Everything that's advertised, and more. Right on the water, with a breaks in front and Burros about 100 yards down the beach. We were well taken care of with everything we could have needed. We will definitely be back, next time with the wives, as it could have been incredibly romantic too if they were along! Oh, and it was great to learn that the place has a bit of surf history also, particularly for those old SoCal surfers. Thanks, Lori.

Lori, I wanted to thank you for renting us your beautiful house at Punta Burros. We had a great stay. Your homes are beautiful with great attention to detail and customization as well as the location is very desirable. Me and two buddies went to Punta Burros area to surf for a week and to escape the early cold weather in the Colorado high country. We caught plenty of waves and had a great relaxing time. Ortensia was very nice, although we really didn’t see her a whole lot. I think we were usually out surfing during her normal hours. I/we hope to rent again from you in the near future. Thanks again,David Lau

Dear Lori,
I am loathe to write a recommendation for fear that
the rest of the world will discover the incredible
holiday destination we have stumbled upon.
We are avid surfers who have searched the world
for the best destinations to relax in great proximity
to fantastic, consistent surf. Casa Selvetaca has it
all.
Your home could not be more welcoming, or more
appropriate to its surrounding. It has a wide open
airy beachy feel with lots of gorgeous intricacies
including the large pebble and shell lined shower in
the guest room, and the coloured glass jugs
molded into the walls. It's nice to have all the
modern touches too, like the indoor/outdoor stereo
with the cord to plug our ipod into.
There is nothing better than sitting at one of the
many comfy vantage points in your ample
beachfront yard and watching the waves roll in.
Nothing better of course than riding those waves.
There is a perfect rolling beginners wave
immediately behind the house that's great fun and
incredibly consistent. It's big enough for anyone to
enjoy but gentle enough for even us scaredy cats to
ride. Less than 200 feet to the right is a sensational
fast break that the more daring among us got great
enjoyment out of. We were fortunate to get 10 - 12
foot swells for 3 days.
When we couldn't be bothered enjoying the
enormous kitchen and bbq for dinner, we were
absolutely spoiled by the food at Margarita's up the
road. I have never tasted such fresh seafood. I
guess it helps that it's right next to where the
fishing boats come in. We enjoyed the Italian place
next door too but it wasn't as good as Margarita's.
Hector and Junior make you feel like part of the
family.
Lori, you provided just the right mix for an owner;
you were here to welcome us and provide
sensational guacamole, but out of our hair for the
rest of our stay, except to answer our questions
about fun stuff to do in Puerto Vallarta. With you up
the road at your other place, it felt like we had a
good friend in the area to give us the heads up on
everything.
This is a surfer's and a beach bum's paradise. We
will be back again and again and again.
Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us.
See you soon,
Trahni
