The home was beautiful inside and out. We arrived a little early as i notified Katie, she was fantastic as we was allowed to enter 30 minutes ahead of the scheduled time.
The home had plenty of room for my family to be close, but, not crowded. We enjoyed the quiet sound of the neighborhood and loved the large magnolia tree in the back yard.
We visited the riverwalk and the USS North Carolina as i revisit my 1st Duty station (Camp Lejeune)
The owner made herself readily available should anything come about.
My family really Loved the home, location, and ease to parking
Do yourself a favor and schedule and schedule a stay or vacay here you wont reget it.
Thank you Katie.

The house was as described by the owner so that our entire large family was quite comfortable. the neighborhood was in a very quiet suburb and welcoming. The backyard was big enough that all the grandkids could run, jump, climb a big tree. Everyone had a big bedroom with access to a private bath. We would definitely come back and recommend for a large family/group. Manger and owners responded promptly to any questions or concerns we had. A very pleasant experience and vacation was had by the whole family(8 adults and 4 kiddos).

Our family (10 adults) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Magnolia House while visiting Wilmington for my nieces wedding. The host was attentive to all questions and requests to include arranging an early check-in which was definitely appreciated! The location seemed central to going everyplace in the area. We found the house to be spacious and well equipped.
In summary, we highly recommend this VRBO home.

We arrived for 3 nights to celebrate my daughter’s college graduation. There were 8 of us staying in this home. There was more than enough space! We had extra beds too! The downstairs had plenty of space to gather and socialize. The backyard as well! If you need a place to gather with other family or friends staying nearby, this home is perfect! I fell in love with the house immediately. The hardwood floors throughout, the high ceilings, the old/historic feel. The host thought of everything for the kitchen! Even a vase for all of the flowers our daughter received. The host was easy to reach. We arrived a bit early and she was able to let us in the home. ( which was great as I traveling with my 87 year old mother!). The home was clean, the neighbors that I spoke to were kind, and the location is within a mile from the historic district. If I need to return to Wilmington with family again, I will definitely stay here again! Thank you Natalie!

We absolutely loved the house, it was big enough for our friends to hangout inside and outside. It was also less than a 5 minute drive to downtown!

We loved the place it is older and had some growing pains but did not effect our great time
Many things to do in the area for all ages
Would say if owner just tweaked a few things home would be gorgeous (water stains on ceilings) the garage next to house had a fire so the bedroom next to it the bedding etc did have a small smell of fire but
The kitchen stocked two kinds of coffee pots and French press two refrigerators breakfast in the kitchen
Dinner in main dining area
All in the family room after events building puzzles many beds and bathrooms
Something for everyone
My only complaint we did pay a big price tag to stay there and they say in amenities that there’s a grill but if you want to use it they want you to purchase the propane which I thought was crazy had never had to do that at any other place I’ve stayed also first place I’ve stayed with no chance of cancellation. So not a big thing but thought worth mentioning
Again big beautiful place great for family or friends vacations

It has 2 refrigerators. Beds were very comfortable. Property owner was very nice. Katie, the property manager was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this property!

We all were able to have our own bedrooms and the location was perfect. Space is key with a large family!

Our overall staff was nice though there were several hiccups. Two of the sinks were broken and the showers were only serviceable at best. One of the toilets was broken and I had to rig it with a wire I order for it to flush. The outdoor grill should be replaced as it is old and worn out. The location was perfect for us and the house fit everyone and that was what mattered the most. It was expensive for the end product but overall we had a good week.

Interesting home
I felt like listing was a bit of bait and switch. The photos of the home were obviously from early 2000’s. The property was unkempt….long grass, dead leaves in backyard. No curbside appeal at all.
The home is a diamond in the rough. The history is amazing. Sadly…it has not been kept up and if things are not taken care of I fear it will fall into disrepair. In looking more closely at past reviews I see that things that were problems from 2 years ago have still not been dealt with. Doorknobs that make it difficult to open doors easily, faucets that don’t work properly etc. We saw NO smoke alarms, and home in dire need of handrails. This would be a very difficult home for older folks or those in need of extra support.
The home itself was pretty clean ( except for dead cockroaches in bedrooms…ugh)! The wood floors are in sad shape and need refinishing.
The furnishings in living room and family room shabby, tattered and dirty. Can you say…a ROCK holding up one end of a couch?!
All in all…for the amount it costs to rent ( and NO chance for cancellation after you agree to rent) I would look elsewhere for a home to rent out.
Sadly, the owners are making money with no returns to home….it is obviously a business and not a venue for pleasure.
I usually look for the good and am positive. I just want others to be aware of what they are walking into. This home would be beautiful with care and concern……Right now….it lacks that.
Just read the reviews ( I didn’t research enough) and enter with open eyes to what to expect from this home.

Wonderful old home
Absolutely wonderful. Fit us exactly what we needed. In town for son's wedding. Had my other children and their family with us coming from all over. A few things to point out. It is an older home with old plumbing and old electrical. Don't expect all the newer amenities. The kitchen has everything you need. A couple of changes to what is available. There is a Keurig for coffee as well as a coffee maker but does not take #4 cone filters, standard Mr. Coffee filters are fine. The manager and owner are very responsive to requests. When arrived, we noticed there was no grill as advertised. So the manager contacted the owner and that day we had a new propane gas grill which was important as we planned to have families in for cookout. Plenty of games and puzzles to entertain. The one bedroom was perfect to put the kids in with parents on both sides. The big magnolia tree in the back was a favorite for the kids to hang out on. Also know the refrigerator does not have an ice maker so you will have to get ice. The overall experience was great and was a godsend to have. Thank you.

Charming home
As charming this one hundred year old home it is. It lacks upgrades throughout the house!
The sofas in the family room are in much poor condition and broken!
The front door is extremely hard to open/ close
Bed upgrades are missing in several of the bedrooms.

A Wonderful House for a Family Gathering
It was my daughter's graduation weekend and we had family coming in from all over. This house was awesome! Keep in mind, it's old, definitely needs work, but the layout and charm of this historic property outweighed the cons and left us with some fond and amazing memories.
Here's a list of what I loved...
PRO'S
The Layout:
The house was so cool to explore, especially the 2nd floor. One room led to another or a shared bath. I kept thinking how fun it would be for children playing hide and seek. I also loved the dual staircases, one in the front of the house and one in the back, just off the kitchen. It painted a picture of what it was like to live during the era. I also loved all the rooms on the 1st floor. With 3 sets of grandparents, 2 sets of parents and friends stopping by, there was always plenty of room to congregate as a whole or break off into smaller groups and just catch up.
Location and Parking
Everyone loved the location and took daily walks. The cemetery at the end of 15th proved to be quite fascinating and worth the stroll. Parking was abundant, a huge bonus considering so many drove separate.
The Kitchen
Definitely a morning gathering place. Plenty of counter space, loved the 3 sinks complete with a garbage disposal and the long kitchen table. Also, there was an abundance of dishes, glassware, cookware and cooking utensils.
A few other points worthy to mention
Natalie and Katie were GREAT! Beds were adequate but the super soft sheets made them comfortable. The fenced in yard was nice for both privacy and for our dog's potty breaks.
Now things to consider...
CON'S
Understanding an older home is a labor of love with one project usually in the works while another is waiting to follow, there are a few concerns I feel I should mention.
Fridge/Freezer
The main refrigerator/freezer was in good shape, but the extra full-size fridge and freezer chest were downright scary. The inside walls of fridge were full of rust and the freezer chest went out sometime our first night. Luckily, we didn't have much inside so didn't pose a problem.
The electrical definitely needs updated.
Roaches were noticed in the kitchen several times throughout the weekend.
Overall...
I loved our stay at the Magnolia. It came at a time of celebration and reuniting the family, some I hadn't seen in years. I would recommend this house for those who can overlook the cons mentioned. For the price, it won't disappoint!

Lovely Wedding Weekend
I rented the property for friends and family to stay for my daughter’s wedding. We hosted the rehearsal dinner Friday night. It was the perfect setting go an outdoor meal. We decorated the back yard and it was like a wonderland. The house was just what we needed to cook and serve a meal for 40. The owner and caretaker were fantastic to work with. We were able to check in a bit early and check out a bit late. It was a memorable event.

Absolutely perfect accommodations for family for my sons wedding.
Very easy process and checkin

We enjoyed our stay.
Our major complaint is how slippery the bathtubs were in the side of the house up the first set of stairs. Most of us were 68 plus years old, and the only bathtub that we felt safe in was the bath tub up the back stairs. A bath mat would be nice or have the tubs fixed somehow.

Charming
Booking and access was easy. It is a fascinating home in the historic district. The layout was smart. Kids loved the home. Cozy beds. AC worked great. Beach chairs available. Smart Tv in living room was perfect for movie nights.
We stored our bikes in the backyard and rode throughout the neighborhood as well as the Downtown/port area.

Bridal Weekend
This property worked perfectly for our needs. We have a total of 13 on and off staying in the house across a 3 night weekend for my daughters wedding (bridesmaids). The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with the necessary cooking items needed for the weekend. There were 2 large refrigerators and a chest freezer to accommodate the food and drinks. There was ample parking along the streets. The historic house was beautiful and the girls all had a great time.

Beach trip
The house was perfect to accommodate family of 11. It was great to have a close 15-20 minute drive to Wrightsville and a 5 minute drive to downtown. The rooms are large and there is plenty of space to spread out. The backyard and swing set were great for the little ones. The house was clean.

Great stay
First, you must love old homes to really love this house, otherwise you might be bothered by some of its quirks. For my family’s stay, we loved the large house that gave us ample space for our Wilmington stay. We loved the neighborhood and took walks every morning and evening and we loved having the large kitchen and 2 fridges for stay-in meals. Visiting downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville and Carolina Beach was convenient. The property manager was friendly and responsive. If our larger family group visits Wilmington again we would definitely rent this house again.

Beautiful old downtown home
What a lovely historic home.
The property manager was responsive and helpful.
Fresh cut flowers and snacks were a nice touch.
My only concern was upon seeing the property’s external upon arrival. The paint on the side of the house is in bad shape. The metal roof has rust I didn’t see in the pictures. Other than that the property’s interior is as pictured.
It needs some work but offers tons of charm and lots of space.

Historically it is. Spacious rooms. Enjoyed reading about the history of the House.
The owner’s communication was excellent.
