This a beautiful rental, full of rustic charm while still having access to all the amenities you might need. We cannot say enough how gorgeous, serene, and unique the space is. It is also a short drive to lots of great restaurants and places to explore.

Was understated in the description of this awesome Zendo cabin. Was truly impressed to experience nature in this setting. Always wanted to go to such a place but never was able…so this checked off my list of expectations. Clean and comfortable…. We loved it.

A wonderful retreat just minutes from Mendocino and the coast Zendo is situated amongst the redwoods like a tree house. From every window (and there are lots of them) you look out onto the forest, even from the kitchen stove! Adding to the atmosphere is a cozy fireplace corner with a sofa to snuggle up on and art on almost every wall.
Be aware if you have any mobility issues the path to the home is steep and uneven and then inside there are a few different levels.
Enjoy an escape at Zendo.

We loved the rustic charm yet modern touches and updated amenities of the cabin. Bed were comfy, the wood stove came in handy, and the kitchen had all we needed. A hike down the mountain via a path beside the property was a gift! Take a hike if you can.
Aaron, who lives nearby, was very responsive and helpful when we needed him!
Highly recommend a stay. Will return if in the area again.

Will 100% stay here for all our future getaways!
Thank you Debbie for the amazing hospitality!!

Located about 5-10 minutes from the main town of Mendocino. This is an excellent place for a quiet getaway and still close enough to go to town or the ocean.
Definitely would stay again when visiting the area.

My fiancé and I stayed the weekend at the funky compound in the woods near Mendocino. The building is one of a number of buildings on the property that are rustic, unique, and very DIY-looking. We loved the place. You feel like you are in the air among the trees.
Check in and out was seamless. Communication with hosts was lovely and easy. Highly recommend.

Want to unplug and experience nature, cuddle up by a wood burning stove and bring a stack of books. That’s what we did. Topping off our trip with mountain biking in the redwoods this was exactly what we had in mind

If you're looking for a charming rustic and quiet place in the woods, this is it. Comes with a nicely equipped kitchen and really comfortable bed. Also liked the elevated meditation room next door - peaceful place to unwind and watch the sunset. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Bucket List - Redwoods and Pacific Ocean! This rental is located in the middle of a redwoods forest. The architecture and decor are truly one of a kind. Very cosy, very comfortable. Very quiet and very close to Mendocino which we didn’t expect to be so cute. We stayed 4 nights with 3 full days to experience our surroundings. Cabin was very clean, bed and bedding comfortable and enough space for two adults and two medium dogs to spread out. Caretaker on property also helpful and pleasant. Would stay again if we didn’t live half the country away. Thank you for sharing this special place.

The Zendo was quaint, serene and special. Full kitchen to cook every meal in-including seasonings. Full bathroom w tub, although youre instructed to conserve water. The grounds have some special seating spots to enjoy the fresh air and gorgeous redwoods. Nice hike to do on the grounds. Town is a short drive away.

An incredible little retreat set against a beautiful forest backdrop, just 10 min east of Mendocino town. We enjoyed cooking in the spacious kitchen, doing puzzles at the table, sitting by the wood stove and watching actual dvds and listening to CDs (!). Don’t expect to work remotely or stay very plugged in, but that’s part of the appeal. We hiked down the trail behind the house…a magic forest. Loved it. Will try to return.

An experience akin to living in a magical treehouse amongst the redwoods...The austere, earthy elegance of the land, expansive views, and simplicity of deep quiet evoked the peace for the heart/ mind within. Thank you

Magical. When pulling into the property, in every sense of the word, you drop into a deeper state, suddenly feeling like you're being held in a pod of redwood healing. The craftsmanship and eclectic decor was inspiring, the book on it's history was very interesting to read, the water heated up quick and the fire stove was perfection. The perfect medicine and a birthday I'll never forget. Thank you!

Loved the location and the surrounding woods. It was absolutely beautiful and incredibly quiet. We sat on the adorable front porch quite a bit and did some hiking around. I would definitely stay there again if I could bring my own pillows and blankets. Theirs were quite well used.
The cabin is full windows. You really feel like it bring the outdoors in. You can see the trees and the stars at night are incredible. The bedroom windows cover the entire wall so when the sun comes up in the morning it’s really bright. If you are an early riser you will be just great, otherwise you won’t like that feature at all.
The owner was a great communicator and was super friendly. The place is rustic but it’s very well kept. For the price, you get exactly what you pay for. It’s easy to get to Mendocino for restaurants and to see the coast.

The property was clean and in a forested location. It had several other buildings on premise (I assume with other residents). Although we didn't run into anyone. It was nice of the host to come say hello when we checked in. She showed us the wild cherries just right near the stairs going down to the house. The house had no cell signal (we had Verizon) so it was a bit inconvenient for us since my husband had to call in to meetings. If you want to be off-the-grid, then it would be okay. The house had satellite WiFi with a data limitation (additional can be purchased). We enjoyed seeing the deer that kept showing up on the property. Extra blankets and pillows weren't provided in the house when we first checked-in, but the host brought some over after I contacted her. Thank you!

This quiet retreat in the piney woods is 15 minutes from the coast, yet close enough to spend the day on the beach or the evening in town.

This was our second time staying at Zendo. It was a short getaway, and again we didn't want to leave when time came. Zendo was ready for us, clean, with necessary supplies. Thank you, Debbie, for last minute warning about mosquitos; if i didn't bring my citronella oil spray - our two evenings would have been ruined. Thank you for sharing your peaceful and quiet property! We'll be coming again.

Amazing Weekend Get Away
What a magical place! Even with the rain outside, the cottage was so cozy! The wood fireplace was wonderful and the stereo system was a surprise! The yoga tower was so fun and relaxing! We will definitely be back!

Former farm, then hippie community, then Zen retreat, now temporary quarters for those loving peace, quiet, and Redwoods. The owner's background in visual arts is apparent everywhere: from the mix and match windows throughout the home, to the careful attention to color. Kitchen has everything you could possibly need, including high quality olive oil and spices. Very short drive to Mendocino. Private hiking trail down to Big River. Nice wood stove, but flue operating instructions would be helpful. We use wood at home too and I suspect it may be time to call the chimney sweep here.
