For a unique stay, our six individual antique train cabooses beckon, capable of hosting up to 24 "passengers" and outfitted with modern amenities such as a mini-fridge and cable TV. Preserving the authentic charm of rail travel, these cabooses offer an intimate retreat ideally suited for two adults and two children each. Experience a stay like no other, where old-world charm meets modern comfort.
Now imagine having your own private boat ramp and dock with eight slips, ready to accommodate your boat or jet skis for endless water-bound fun. And the best part? It's all right on the property, making your stay as seamless as it is exhilarating.

Private and quiet. We loved the large dock and all the slips that were available. The main house had everything we needed and the kitchen was adequately stocked. The commercial size coffee pot was appreciated. Due to the size of our group we used five of the cabooses and they were fine according to the occupants. The only drawback was walking to the water from the house and cabooses as the road has a steep incline and is gravel and rocks and slipping was an issue. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property for a large group.

Our family, ranging from 2 to 80+ stayed at Caboose Junction for one week and we enjoyed it thoroughly. It was perfect for out needs. The kitchen is large which allowed us to enjoy cooking as a family and thankfully there is an additional downstairs fridge. The dining tables served us well not only for eating but for lots of board game playing. The decks are shaded and have great views. Many of our crew took advantage of the pool table and ping pong table. It had a place for everyone, whether they wanted to be in a quieter place or in the mix with everyone. We needed to reach out to the staff a few times for little things and each time they were immediately available. We would highly recommend this location for others looking for a family reunion location.

Fantastic week on the water, with great accommodations and beautiful views. With almost 30 people we appreciated the extra refrigerators and laundry facilities. The grill on the deck got plenty of use, as did the kayaks and the beautiful new dock.

Our group of 23 stayed at CJ for a weeklong family reunion and had a great time. Between the cabooses and the main house, everyone was covered for sleeping, and the privacy of the location (and that of the cabooses) was ideal. We rarely left the property except to provision (23 people go through a lot of food), but the grocery store in Kimberling City provided everything we needed.
The only issue we had was that a contracting crew arrived unexpectedly one day to install a new boat dock. Not only was it a surprise (and a concern until we found out what was going on), but it prevented us from using the dock for swimming for about a 1/2 day. A heads up would have been appreciated, but the new dock is quite nice.
A minor detail - the house info binder mentions a bluetooth speaker but we were never able to find one. Fortunately, we brought our own.
All in all, this was exactly the kind of facility and location that we wanted for our group, and the entire family had a great time.

Let me start off by saying that my family had a great time at Caboose Junction. The space was great for the size of our extended family reunion (30 total). The boat dock and being close to the water was a huge selling point for us, and the kids loved jumping off the raised platform.
The negatives for us were the state of the cabooses. The linens were clean and the beds were relatively comfy, but the windows were very dirty and there were quite a few dead bugs lying about. The main house was clean, but the back deck with the grille patio furniture was also very soiled and needed cleaning to use.
We also had trouble when reaching out to the host (seems this unit is managed by a larger rental group) Messages we sent in the app asking questions went unanswered and I had to spend time on the phone trying to get ahold of someone.
Overall we had a great time, but I think some in our group were turned off by the state of things, especially for the price we paid.

I will be contacting the owner. It was not a pleasant experience. It’s odd that nobody will return my phone calls.

Our large family utilized the house and several of the cabooses. The dock is the best we've ever experienced. We had a problem with the garbage disposal, but the maintenance man came immediately and fixed it within 10 minutes. Great response!! We have never been to Table Rock Lake, but this sold us forever. We will be back!!

House and cabooses were wonderful for our large family. Property around house was a little overgrown and house needs a little tlc (crock pots did not heat, toilets easily clogged on bottom floor and plunger was torn and would not work and some furniture was well worn. Could have used a few more towels and especially wash cloths. Thankful for the two sets of washer and dryer. We kept them busy. Had a spider and bug issue in cabooses but exterminator came right out and must remember it is located in thick trees. Floating dock was the most popular spot and enjoyed by all ages (2 years to 83 years)We made some wonderful memories and hope to return some day

Unique Property - Great Place for family get-togethers
Although the train cars were winterized and unavailable, we had more than enough room for those of us that actually stayed at night. A lot of the decor is unique, but not ecectic. Very nicely done. We hope to come back in the summer when the entire property is available.

Wonderful Location for a Family
The 9 acre property allows for exploring and space to relax. We arrived with groceries, so we didn't leave the property during our six day visit. The cabooses were locked and winterized, but the vibe was fun, and we think it would be a blast in the summertime. The layout of the main house was conducive to our family with young adult children; however, I would encourage guests to understand the bedroom layout if arriving with lots of littles because of the openness of the upstairs landing. Big groups should pay attention to the listing's suggestion to bring what you will need for the kitchen. We managed three large meals for 9 adults every day with what was provided, but had buffered with dishes and containers from home. The Bunn coffee maker is great! Sure wish we had found the hand mixer, but it never surfaced, so we had to be creative. Overall, the main house is great - good appliances, comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms, etc. Keep in mind it is a lake house, regardless of the price point, so there was a slight sense of casual disrepair - bedroom carpets with stains, toilet paper holders that easily fall off the wall, many light bulbs out, furniture showing wear, drippy faucets, discoloration in the showers, etc. - nothing glaring, just a well used house sitting on a beautiful property offering a memorable vacation with family or friends. We would definitely rent this home again!

The house met or exceeded expectations. Kitchen lacked a few necessary things like paper towels and aluminum foil but no big deal really. Only hiccup was probably lack of professionalism and communication when reserving the property. Overall good experience. Would stay here again

Caboose junction stay
Nice place
Definately a woodsy off the beaten path location
Little overgrown with vegetation and plenty of insects which is part of the package but the lakefront is a good escape from that and the dock and jump platform for the kids up top was a huge hit.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay for a large group! Beautiful property that has been well taken care of. Management group was easy to work with and always responded quickly. We’ll be back next year!

This resort can handle a lot of people with a six bedroom house and six cabooses. We used them all and had a wonderful week. The families that stayed in the cabooses were excited to do something as unique as that experience. The house is beautifully renovated and extremely roomy and comfortable. Having a large private dock with lots of "lake toys" gave us lots of things to do without having to leave the resort. We rented two wave runners for the week and found it very convenient to have a boat launching ramp on site and dock slips in which to park them when not being used. We were pleased to find a ping pong table and a pool table at the house which got a lot of use. We recommend this resort strongly to anyone with a large group.
