About this cottage rental
Come Up North to Gac’s Getaway on Spider Lake to relax and enjoy the lake life. Our two-story cottage has that great beach house feel with South facing views. It’s the best spot on the lake! There are three bedrooms, one bath and a main living/dining/kitchen area. The cottage sleeps six and all the rooms have views of the lake. There is one king, a queen and a double size bed. The kitchen has all the essentials - a full size refrigerator, electric stove/oven and microwave. The bathroom has a tub and shower. GG’s has 60 feet of private beach frontage, perfectly sandy that is only 40 feet from the cottage. As you enjoy your morning coffee in the screened in porch, you will hear loons, see ducks, geese, possibly an eagle and all sorts of other critters.
Spider Lake is a spring-fed, 459 acre all-sports lake. It’s excellent for fishing, skiing, tubing, swimming, and any other water sport you can think of. The lake has several bays and islands to explore. Outside you will find your own dock, the "Blue Fin," a 14 foot rowboat and life preservers. There is a gas grill, outdoor furniture, and a fire pit. If you’d like, you can also bring your own boat, there is a DNR launch site 1.5 miles away. If you choose to bring your boat, please let us know that you doing that.
If you can tear yourself away from the lake, Traverse City is only 20 minutes away with plenty to do. You can enjoy the National Cherry Festival, Old Mission Peninsula Wineries, Leelanau Wineries, Casinos, award-winning restaurants and unique downtown shopping. The area is known for its championship golf courses, TART biking trails and extensive hiking routes. This part of Northern Michigan is home to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, awarded “Most Beautiful Place in America” by ABC’s Good Morning America. From GG’s, you can enjoy a day-trip to the dunes and other fun destinations along Michigan’s famous M-22 scenic drive, or visit the Interlochen Center for the Arts, where they host nationally known artists during summer concerts. Cherry Capital Airport is only 20 minutes away. Although you may be tempted to pack your visit full of activities, make sure to leave time to relax and enjoy the beauty that our cottage offers you and your family.

First time visit to Northern MI. So relaxing. The cottage was perfect for the 4 of us. The dock was my favorite place to sun. The lake is very clean & offers plenty to do to keep 2 teens busy. The cottage offered all the basics necessary and was decorated so cute! Definitely a 10/10. We were so happy with our decision to stay on Spider Lake. Already planning another trip and

This place was exactly as described and more. Very fun for the whole family. We loved the lake and nearby park. It was a great place to unwind and make lasting memories. Traverse city and Lake Michigan is also nearby for fun day trips.

Love Gac’s Getaway and we will definitely be back. The tubs to float on in the lake are amazing and the cottage is decorated perfectly. It’s a wondeful get away spot in TC. Jan & Jim were easily reachable and quick to help.

This was very clean and had a perfect location. Close to downtown TC but quaint on Spider lake. One of the few locations on Spider Lake with a great beach for the kids. My only complaints is the mattress in the Queen and full rooms. They’re old spring mattresses and are VERY uncomfortable. They really should be updated for the cost. Nothing was provided as far as dish soap, paper towel, etc so we had to shop for that stuff. Any VRBO I’ve stayed at have provided those things.

Communication from the beginning was excellent. I'm big on cleanliness and upon arrival I noticed that right away and all the little touches. Everything was so easy and convenient. We loved that every room had a lake view and that we could walk right out to the lake. Jan and Jim were very helpful and the neighbors were great too. Central to see many fun activities we already have plans for next year. Would definitely recommend!

The cottage was even more charming in person than in photos. It was a great home base to explore the Traverse City area and the lake was perfect for swimming and relaxing on the dock. Hosts were quick to reply when we had questions. It was a great week!

Gac’s Getaway is so charmingly decorated, spotlessly clean, and RIGHT ON THE WATER. We enjoyed our stay immensely..every room felt warm and welcoming, all with views of Spider Lake. I will say that the couches left a bit to be desired, but the comfort of the window seat in the master bedroom all but made up for it. The screened in porch came in handy on the chilly mornings to enjoy coffee while still taking in the beautiful lake setting. All in all, wonderful house, close to downtown Traverse City, and gorgeous lake. You can’t go wrong!

Awesome cottage, feels like home. The owners are great, nice little beach, good location on the lake, super clean, fire pits, grills (gas and charcoal), chill neighbors, kayaks, awesome personal touches throughout that show the owners care, and so on. The Blue Fin is a fine vessel. Pretty much guaranteed you’ll dig this little joint on the world famous Spider Crick.

Cute Cabin on the Lake
We really enjoyed our stay. Everyone in the family had something to do either on the lake or the cabin. Owners were wonderful to work with. They replied immediately for anything we needed. Cabin has everything you need as lot of thought has been put by owners. Neighbors are great to talk to as well. Overall a great experience. Thanks for sharing the cabin!

Great Experience on Spider Lake
My family had a wonderful stay at this property on Spider Lake. The property description was accurate and it was very clean. The bedrooms were spacious and the property was comfortable the 4 of us (2 adults + 2 kids). Communication with the host was great. Spider Lake is a great fishery, we caught large mouth bass, small mouth bass, rock bass, northern pike, sunfish, and bluegill all in one day! If we need to come back to the area for another event, we will definately see if this property is available.

Great time at Gac's Getaway!
My family (me, my husband, and four year old daughter) had a great time at Gac's Getaway this past week. It was very cute and cozy. Its proximity to Spider Lake (right in the back yard) and Traverse City made it very appealing. My daughter loved going for a ride in the paddle boat and playing on the small beach in the backyard. Each day we drove 20 minutes to do fun things in Traverse City and one day we made the one hour drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes. The hosts were very easy to communicate with. Overall, a great time!

Summer getaway
Our second year staying here and it was excellent just like last year. The owner’s are very accommodating. The location 10 minutes from Traverse City works great to either have a quite day on the lake at the cabin or head into town for a little more hustle and bustle. Proximity of the cabin to the lake with a flat approach is definitely a plus.

Picture Perfect
We loved our stay at this quaint, cozy & beautifully decorated lake house. There are 2 screened rooms that allowed privacy and quiet conversation. Loved the location on the lake, you can see all the action! It's on flat property with a sandy beach, nice that a pedal boat, row boat & 2 small kayaks were available for use, very comfortable beds and lots of DVD movies to watch when you're inside and want to wind down. Plenty of essential kitchen items to cook indoors. Loved sitting outside with my coffee early in the morning listening and watching the loons on the glass-like lake. I left behind a couple of items that Jan was kind enough to quickly return by mail. This is a gem of a place, we will definitely be back!

"Girls''' Trip
Four "girls", who have been friends for over 45 years, got together at this property that had great views of the lake from the living and all of the bedroom areas. The pics do not do justice for this charming property with lots of water vehicle options and Jan, the property owner, got back immediately with any questions we had. We had a great time!

Just what was needed
The home was beautifully decorated and clean. Jim and Jan were very kind and welcoming of our family. We spent the week relaxing at the cottage and spending time on the pontoon boat. The cottage had everything we needed to enjoy the week long stay. We would definitely come back again in the future.

Just what we needed!!
After a long year+, a weekend away was what we needed. The cottage had all the essentials and then some. It was very clean and had direct access to the water unlike other cottages on the lake that had steps down to the water. Communication with the owners was very prompt and thorough throughout the whole process. We really enjoyed going out onto the water with the kayaks that were provided. We would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Traverse City Area.

A Place to Unwind
This is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy time with family and/or friends. Walk out the door and jump in a kayak, paddle boat, row boat or rent the pontoon. Enjoy the evenings with wine by the fire. We’ll be back!

Weekend getaway
Perfect for what we needed. Cute and cozy. Very clean and great location. Lake access and access to kayaks, row boat and paddle boat makes this the perfect location to stay with friends or family. We would love to visit again especially in warmer months.

Quaint cottage with careful Michigan up north decor and furnishings. So thoughtful. The location is great. TC is a quick trip, and unbeknownst to us there’s a bar/restaurant very close by with good pizza and salad. Spider lake is great. Tons of hiking nearby. Vasa single track also very close.Note 1: We came when the weather was poor (40s and rain). This is more of a summer cottage! Note 2: if you trailer your own water toy, just launch it at nearby public launch-don’t try to park it at the cottage steep 1 lane driveway terminating in front door of house.

Love this place!
This ended up being a slightly longer drive to/from Traverse City than was ideal, but the cottage itself was wonderful!
