About this cottage rental
This beautiful family cottage is ideally located on a wooded point surrounded by peaceful Lake George, a small, quiet no-wake lake with great fishing and swimming, just 12 miles SE of Traverse City. The home features an eat-in kitchen with all appliances and amenities, two full bathrooms, a master suite with queen sized pillow-top bed and two smaller bedrooms with a shared door between them. One of the smaller bedrooms has a double bed, the other has a set of twin beds. (Note: you have to walk through the first bedroom to get to the second bedroom.)
The living room features a double hide-a-bed and plenty of comfy chairs. The Cottage sleeps a total of 8.
Lake George is a quiet lake without public access. Motor boats (other than trolling motors) are not allowed, meaning that your vacation will truly be peaceful. Public access sites to both Arbutus and Spider Lakes are just minutes away if you have a motorized boat. The cottage includes a swimming raft, an aluminum canoe, paddles and life preservers of various sizes.
Please note that the Cottage is located in a residential area with permanent residents next door. As such, groups looking for a place for big parties or loud music should look at other properties. This really is a family cottage that we use when we don’t have guests. Its furnished with family antiques, lots of trinkets & photos. We trust our guests to respect our cottage for what it is - the heart, soul & history of our family.
At the Miller Family Cottage you'll leave the hustle, bustle and noise of bigger lakes behind the minute you drive down the driveway. Once there, you'll see that the Cottage is a place to unwind, relax and reconnect. Yet the excitement of larger lakes, Grand Traverse Bay and Traverse City are just minutes away.
NO SMOKING, NO PETS. Minimum 5 night stay. If you book our property for your vacation, you agree to the Rental Agreement and House Rules.

Cozy cabin in a relaxing environment. Kids loved throwing rocks into the lake in the backyard.

This cottage is the perfect slice of heaven. It came stocked with everything you could ever need. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The views alone will keep us coming back for years to come. This was our second time staying here and we will make it a yearly vacation spot. The owners were great with communication and very friendly. We had an amazing stay and can't wait to come back!

This is the third year we have rented this property. My children absolutely love it! And so do I. It is quiet, secluded, exactly what we love. The raft in the water bring so much joy! Close to downtown Traverse City, if that’s what you’re looking for. We prefer to stay on the lake🤗 the owners are easily accessible for any need. It really is great!

Our second stay at this family cottage. Love the big eat-in kitchen. Enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the lake and around the fire at night. Very comfortable and well supplied. Great home base for traveling around the TC area. Appreciated commuincations from the owner.

We have stayed here before, what I love most is that it’s like our lake. It’s so private and so peaceful. No jet skis, no motor boats, it’s so quiet. I like the pine trees, I like the seclusion, I love the sound of nature. The beds are comfortable, and they have everything you need. Even though we had rain, we had a wonderful time.

This cottage is a real gem: clean, lovely and was the best equipped that I had ever stayed at. The owners were lovely and very patient answering all of our questions. We loved the little peninsula that jutted out from the cottage onto the lake. There was always shade or sun to find from morning to night depending on what you wanted. The trees made it feel very private. George Lake is quiet and a great place for a family to canoe, swim and fish or just relax and read a book or do a puzzle. It is very close to any activity you may want to engage in NW Michigan from visiting the Sleeping Bear Dunes to wineries to Traverse City, but we just relaxed and enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed visiting lots of amazing sites within driving distance from this cabin: downtown Traverse City, Torch lake, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Mackinac Island, but also spent a few days just relaxing, swimming, kayaking and fishing at Lake George with the kids. A great place to visit!

Owner quickly answered all questions and was a pleasure to deal with. Most of my family have demanding jobs and we all were able to completely relax at this beautiful place.

Great owners, loved having the use of the boats and raft. Fishing was fun with plenty of action.
We wished there was a larger bed in the master. Otherwise, great overall stay.

Beautiful Up North Getaway
This cottage was absolutely perfect! From the minute we walked in the doors we felt as though we had our very own slice of heaven. The house came with everything we needed and more. The view of the lake was breathtaking. We loved using the kayak and pedal boat. The lake was very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back again next year.

Second time here and we will be back!
Nothing can top the location of this family cottage. Lake George is perfect for paddling and swimming, especially with kids, and it's close to Traverse and all Northern MI has to offer. It's so peaceful and quiet, and the cottage has everything you need for a vacation away from it all. Gayle & Allison are wonderful hosts! Thank you for another relaxing stay!

It was absolutely wonderful!
It was absolutely wonderful! Even though we had quite a bit of rain, we had a perfect vacation. Truly enjoyed the paddleboat, canoe, and raft. I loved how quiet the lake was. The beds were very comfortable and so is the bedding. I did bring my pillow because I always do. There is no clothes dryer and I did find extra clothes pins in the closet by the kitchen, but not until the last day. If it wasn’t for the rain the towels would have dried more easily. All in all we had an amazing time! We have already booked for next year, did not want to lose this place.

Perfect family getaway, and exactly as advertised
What a great find this was. Far enough from Traverse City to be away from the traffic and crowds, but the drive is manageable. We debated whether we'd be bored on a no-wake lake, but the peace and quiet was unmatched. All the extra touches were appreciated, and it was nice that it was furnished to feel like using a friend's home rather than a sterile rental. We look forward to returning in the future!

A perfect week in a wonderful house on a beautiful lake!
Love this house! Exactly what we were looking for!
We stayed in and cooked most nights on the grill. Found everything we needed in the kitchen. Relaxed on the deck in the evening and watched the sunset.
The lake is ideal if you are seeking peace and quiet. No motors! Crystal clear and clean, great for swimming and canoeing. (Canoe and paddleboat provided!). Very private too - we saw only a handful of other people the entire week.
Traverse City is only 20 minutes away, if you're seeking shopping and restaurants.
This was the second time that my wife and I have stayed at this property. We look forward to visiting again next summer!

Loved our stay!
Beautiful property and home-y family cabin on the most peaceful lake. Well equipped and very clean. Great place for kids! Lake has warm, shallow water plus paddle boat and canoe. Perfect location near Traverse and a short drive to Sleeping Bear. We will be back!

2nd stay & loved it again!
This is our second time coming to this cabin in the summer as a family. It was so relaxing - couldn’t choose a better lake! There is a fun playground a few miles away with basketball, tennis, pickleball, and baseball fields/courts. A great fireplace. Paddle boat & canoe available. Plenty of life jackets, towels, and pots/pans/plates/etc. Our only recommendations this time around would be two things - a more comfortable bed in the room with the double bed & more sand to have a beach for the kids! We had such a great time and can’t wait to come again next year.

Lake George Living
We had 5 wonderful days at the Miller Cottage. It is conveniently located near Traverse City, Sleeping Dunes, and many other places in this lovely area. Lake George is a beautiful small lake, peaceful and quiet. The cottage was great, we particularly enjoyed the front deck where we spent lots of time in the early morning and after dinner in the evening. It was great!

Relaxing and Fun
Gayle Miller was great from beginning to end. We appreciated her detailed instructions and all the amenities provided. The property is beautiful and serene. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of room for a family. The deck had nice and comfortable seating. We read books and took naps there. The kitchen is spacious and we ate in for the majority of our stay. Both bathrooms were nice, but the water pressure wasn't very strong in one. The location was about 10 minutes from the downtown area and a fairly easy drive.
Negatives: no washer/ dryer and the cabin had a musty smell to it after it rained. Once we were able to open the windows again, it was OK.

Relaxing week on Lake George
A perfect place to relax on this quiet little clean lake! We went swimming, paddle boating and canoeing everyday and loved the view of the calm lake from the private deck. The cottage had everything that we could have needed; fully equipped kitchen, grill, sheets, towels, etc. You can drive anywhere you would want to go in the area in 1/2 hour- 1 hour. Well worth a longer drive to come back to this relaxing spot! We hope to come back one day!

Golf and Hockey with family
Property was perfect for us, plenty of room for all of us. Location was good for our activities, casino, golf and Centre Ice Arena. Property manager was excellent, very responsive. Only downside was the weather so we weren't able to enjoy the lake. We look forward to returning next year.

Lake George cabin 12 miles to Traverse city, Michigan
The overall cleanliness of the cottage was great. The location of the cabin provided unparalleled views of the small and quiet lake. The property was well cared for. Due to late summer temperatures, we were not able to use the lake for any kind of recreational activities. In addition, there was no access to heat inside the cabin. We were very cold, especially in the morning hours. We were instructed not to use the wood stove. Therefore, there was no heat whatsoever when the temperatures were
In the 40’s overnight.
I must say, we were put off by the many notes and rules left by this owner. There were notes regarding outside fire usage, deck chair cushions, toilet usage, garbage placement, no wood stove access etc. You felt almost that you were invading someone else’s space. And at $180.00 a night, one should feel pampered. It was even gently suggested that we clean the home. Directions were left as to where to find cleaning supplies and vacuum cleaner. I’ve never rented a cottage/cabin and been urged to clean.
The outside furniture was dilapidated. The interior furniture was outdated and uncomfortable. The beds were fine.
Overall, the experience was nice due to the amazing location of the cabin. The owner is responsive and friendly.

Great time!
The quintessential cottage experience. Super comfy beds, great access to get on the lake via paddle boat & canoe.
There were a lot of notes all over the house, and while I am sure it contributes to the cleanliness of the place, it often felt like we couldn't fully relax to ensure we were accommodating all the 'rules.'
All in all- a great place & a great stay.

Perfect getaway for family!
We had an amazing experience! The pictures do not do the cottage justice. It is a lot bigger and cozier in person! Our family had a great time. The lake is absolutely beautiful and so quiet and relaxing. It is truly the best lot on the lake, too. They provide towels and other household essentials. They have a microwave, fridge, stove, oven, and grill. There is a kitchen table that seats 4, and another table in the living room that seats 2. Very spacious. Large master with master bath (has bathtub) and a door to the porch. On the other side of the house, two attached smaller bedrooms. Had my babies in each of the rooms, and they didn’t wake each other up. Our only wish is that there were more AC window units, as the back two connected bedrooms got REALLY hot. Looking forward to coming again!

Great Cabin
Everything was great. The cabin was charming, clean, and had everything we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable. The lake was the perfect size for our kids to swim and boat in. We used the canoe to go around the lake and fish and the paddle boat for exploring as well. It was especially nice that it was a non-motorized lake as it was calm and quiet and peaceful. The kids collected the wild blueberries growing on the property, found frogs, and saw enormous turtles. We caught a good-sized walleye and perch which we had for dinner one night. We were close to a grocery store and Traverse City and not too far from Sleeping Bear Dunes where we went two times. Overall, probably the best rental cabin we’ve ever stayed in. Thanks!

If you are looking for peaceful and relaxing time with an actual "up north" feel this is where you should be! We biked the VASA trail, walked the Boardman River Trail, both are close by. Can't wait to come back!

One week stay on George Lake at Miller Cottage.
We could not have picked a better place to spend our vacation week. Waking up every morning, having a cup of coffee while sitting outside taking in the quiet, beautiful Lake George. The accommodations were excellent. Nice sized rooms, comfortable beds, plenty of space for adults to lounge around and feel comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. However, I must admit, almost all of our time at the house was spent sleeping, having breakfast and morning coffee, and then returning from our full day's of activities in and around the Traverse City area. We also took in a day on Mackinac Island. We just really enjoyed our time in the Traverse City area. Emails to the owner were typically responded to within an hour of being sent. The Miller Cottage was the perfect place for us to stay during our vacation.
