I can’t say enough good things about our stay here. The cabin is in a great location to downtown West Jefferson (and even closer to the winery). The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. It’s very kid and pet friendly and everything was very clean. We would absolutely stay here again.

My wife and I enjoyed a 2 night celebration of our anniversary at this house. Our stay exceeded our expectations. The house was in an excellent location, well equipment, and clean. The surrounding area has a lot of fun activities.

A wonderful mountain getaway, perfect for relaxing and escaping the southern heat. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable long weekend. We'll definitely book again!

This property is exactly as described. Although the Mountain views are somewhat obstructed by trees, we actually found the setting more peaceful because of this. We were visiting to celebrate a graduation from App State, and had events occurring near West Jefferson at the App State Farm. For this reason, it was very convenient and an easy drive to events. We cooked most of our meals, and found the kitchen well equipped in terms of appliances and pots and pans. The furniture and beds are very comfortable, and there were numerous blankets and quilts to make our leisure time even more cozy.
The property manager was very responsive and even accommodated a special request.
This was a lovely stay, and I definitely recommend this property for future guests!

Location is very pretty and cabin layout perfect for the 2 of us. We appreciated being able to bring our Yorkies. Wireless was also great, as was the grill. Wrap-around deck was wonderful.
Unfortunately, the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. We were there only 2 nights so not a huge issue but more than 2 uncomfortable nights might get old. The master and upstairs beds both moved/creaked excessively with the smallest movement, and mattresses had no support (nor were they the foam mattress type that is extremely comfortable). The pillows seemed very old stuffed with broken foam pieces and far too soft, and stained yellow when I removed pillow cases before departing. We did not try the twin beds upstairs so cannot comment on those.
The kitchen could also use a few more essentials - a cutting board and glass drinking glasses (rather than only plastic cups and heavy beer mugs). Numerous matching coffee mugs - which was appreciated - but no sensible drinking glasses. Odd.
The cabin also needs a very thorough cleaning to remove layers of dust from the kitchen backsplash and thick webs from the artificial flowers and all nightlights.
Most of these are simply/easy fixes (except the beds)….. they were mostly minor annoyances and certainly not worth asking to have them corrected during our 2 day stay, though the host did reach out during to ask if everything was ok.

This was our 2nd stay at Rustic Retreat. We love this house, it is clean, nicely decorated, pet-friendly, and in a quiet and scenic location. The owners are responsive and care about making their guest's stay comfortable and their experience positive. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future!

We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and comfort of this cabin. The leather couch in the living room was like a big hug and I think everyone ended up napping on it at some point. Great communication, nice yard, great location and we have already made plans to visit again next year!

Beautiful cabin in the woods with wraparound porch to enjoy the mountain views. Convenient to West Jefferson, BRP and Boone. Owner was very attentive, cabin had all of the comforts of home. Highly recommend Rustic Retreat, will be staying here again on future visits.

Clean, everything worked. Owner was very responsive to our questions. Furnishings are comfortable & we enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. The beds were very comfortable !! Appreciated having laundry supplies, olive oil & plenty of pans to cook with.

The cabin was very clean, comfortable and inviting. Love the deck that wraps around the house. Beautiful for enjoying coffee or a glass of wine.
The only challenge we had was with the fireplace not working. The only did repair it but it took 3 days.

We like disc golf and Ash county park is great for that. The house is beautiful and close to West Jefferson, which has great restaurants and the cheese factory outlet, old fashion candy, cheese, fudge, ice cream and wine. We also like to hike at Grayson Highlands, the house is not too far from that. Love the house, love the area.

Second visit (of more hopefully !) to Rustic Retreat--the location and accommodations are ideal for our purposes. Cabin is well maintained, pleasantly decorated, comfortable, has the necessary amenities and the location is perfect for all the outdoor activities we were seeking. Weather happened to be perfect during our stay as well !! Owner is great to deal with/prompt to respond which is definitely a bonus. Rustic Retreat is a perfect "base camp" for a mini-vacation in the NC mountains.

I loved the layout and build-type of this cabin. The construction gives it a truly “rustic” vibe, and there is a lot of space. The loft is huge! A nice bonus. Wonderful fireplace at the touch of a button, and an incredible 360d deck- wow! Side notes: No Bluetooth tunes to hook up to, kitchen lights are nuclear, and BYO spices if you like to cook; all easily surmountable, and this cabin is well worth buying a couple of things at the store and making yourself at home in. I would love to stay here again! A wonderful spot.

The little town of West Jefferson (about 3-4 miles from cabin) is quaint and has interesting shops. The prospect of fishing, hiking, etc. in the environs is also attractive. But the quiet, somewhat secluded natural beauty surrounding this cabin and the restful beauty of the cabin itself were the greater attractions for us.

Clean, quiet and comfortable. Overall the cabin was clean and was well stocked with towels, washcloths, bedding, pots and pans. Situated on a hill, in the woods, it was very quiet. The beds we’re comfortable and there was plenty of space for a family of 6.

My family and I had a wonderfully relaxing stay at the cabin. Although It’s called ‘rustic’ it’s anything but—-very well appointed, clean, and comfy. Mark was a great host—very responsive and welcoming. Can’t wait to go back again!

This amazing house has a rustic feel with wholly modern conveniences. It was rainy chilly our first night, the stone fireplace heated the place nicely. The weather cleared out and we were able to enjoy the view from wraparound porch. One feature that I found unique is the tree growing through the wraparound deck, the deck appears to have been built around it instead of cutting the tree down. Our stay was too short, we would like to have spent more time!

We had so much fun exploring West Jefferson! The cabin was great although we did have a furry visitor (chipmunk) in the toilet one morning (think he came down the toilet vent overnight)! He unfortunately didn’t survive but was definitely surprising to see the whiskers! Cabin was well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals! Loved the neighborhood too! Thank you for sharing your home with us!
