The beautiful hamlet of Beckermonds is positioned in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This detached holiday cottage makes an ideal retreat from everyday life, being one of only five dwellings in this secluded location. Beckermonds, from the ‘Old Norse’, means the ‘meeting of the streams’. It is here, at the confluence of Oughtershaw and Greenfield becks that the River Wharfe starts its journey through Langstrothdale, into Upper Wharfedale and then continues to define one of the most celebrated dales. Nestled in the valley, East House Farm has glorious views from almost every window. Its spacious and airy accommodation is beautifully presented and from the peaceful, south facing, lawned front garden, you can expect to see rare red squirrels and a variety of wildlife.
Right outside the door are memorable walking opportunities set amid breathtaking scenery. Your doorstep also offers private fly fishing (trout, free of charge, Mar-Sep). Contained within a 5 mile easy walking radius you’ll find three quintessential dales’ pubs; the George at Hubberholme; the White Lion at Cray and the Buck Inn at Buckden. Why not visit them together, in an 11 mile circuit walk? The market town of Hawes is only a 7-mile drive away and offers a selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, banks and a chemist, as well as a traditional British fish and chip restaurant. Hawes is also the home to the famous Hawes Creamery, makers of Wallace and Gromit`s favourite Wensleydale cheese. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles.
This property can be booked together with Wood’s Barn (29924) to accommodate up to 12 guests.

We loved this cottage, especially if you want a bit of seclusion away from the hubbub of a town or village with pubs, shops, schools etc.
This is a real getaway to relax and unwind in very comfy surroundings. It is perhaps a misdemeanor to write an excellent review because everyone will want to go and I won't get another look in!!.
The wildlife is great for photography as the bird table is right outside the kitchen window, with blue, great, coal tits, Greater spotted woodpecker, nuthatch, tree creeper, thrush, chaffinch, house Martins, bats, rabbits crows, heron. However, the red squirrel was sadly elusive this week.
The dales way is right on the doorstep so walks from the house are easy to join.
The George Inn at hubberholme is either a good round walk of circa 8-10 miles or 4 to the pub and get someone to pick you up. The food is great at the George and you are made very welcome.
The owners of East House Farm have worked hard to make it a home from home and you will benefit from all they have achieved. Providing you understand the country ways and lifestyle.
We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to return again.

If you want to get away from it all, this is the perfect getaway. Warm, welcoming and cosy. Clean and well equipped. Joe and Di have thought of everything. We stayed in December and were blessed with snow. This was our second stay.

This would have scored all 10's but there are no local amenities but we knew this ahead of our stay and made sure we had enough provisions for the duration of our stay. The location is superb, the cottage excellent with plenty of room for six adults. There was no mains water available when we stayed due to problems with the supply however this was not an issue as plenty of bottled water provided. There is plenty of scope for walking which is why we booked this cottage. We will be returning next year.

Fabulous remote location which allows endless trips out onto the hills without moving car.
Fabulous remote location which allows endless trips out onto the hills without moving car. Clean, well maintained and hot boot room for drying all the wet walking gear, this is Yorkshire... To wake up and look out on the sheep and the beck and the rusty autumnal colouring was amazing.

The cottage is beautiful, set in a hamlet and so peaceful.
The cottage is beautiful, set in a hamlet and so peaceful. Welcome gifts on arrival even for the dog. Well thought out , even down to emergency supplies in case of power cut. We didn't encounter this but it would have only made the cottage cosier.

We had a lovely stay at East House Farm in August, in spite of torrential rain for much of the week. It's a very comfortable place with everything thought of, a great fire, a wonderful collection of books and games, lots of space. The surroundings are amazing as it's in the most beautiful valley, with a rushing river nearby.
Great for walking straight from the door - high level or low. Real peace.
"Local amenities" seems an inappropriate question for this property as it's a long way from any shops and that's its magic. Hawes (7 miles away) is the perfect place to stock up and has lots of local shops, a market, museum etc.
We stayed here with 2 children and 2 grandparents and everyone loved it. (Note that it's in a collection of houses - they are close but it still felt private)

We loved this cottage.
We loved this cottage. Superbly situated in the tranquility of Upper Wharfedale, the cottage has been modernised without any loss of character. It was immaculately clean, excellently equipped and so comfortable. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. Highly recommended for a peaceful break in the Dales.

We had a lovely time, but somewhere looked a little dated the location was excellent and weather was very kind. I would have liked a downstairs toilet but that's not a fault. As a regular cottage user I find the practice of paying for fuel a little rude the cottages are not cheap and sometimes the owners keep control of the central heating, very irritating. Our whole party enjoyed it and would go again, the owners were very quick to respond when we thought we had a problem.

A wonderful stay in an emmaculate cottage.
A wonderful stay in an emmaculate cottage. We were looking for peace and quiet and to get out of the hub-bub and thats what East House Farm is perfect for! The river outside was great to paddle in and the walks from the house were stunning. Many great local pubs and watering holes within 20min drive. House is comfy, cosy, and quaint with lovely little touches throughout! Our dog also recieved a warm welcome with treats and dog towels :) would recommend and return! Thank you for a great holiday.

East House Farm is very clean, spacious and extremely comfortable.
East House Farm is very clean, spacious and extremely comfortable. It’s well equipped and information about appliances and things in general are excellent. I didn’t rate local amenities with a ten like all other aspects simply because it is neatly ‘hidden’ in a remote area which suited us down to the ground. Joe and Diane are wonderful hosts; available if needed but not obviously around. The six of us loved the cottage and its location. I can highly recommend this accommodation.

Great location for those that want to get away from it all.
Great location for those that want to get away from it all. Walking and cycling from the doorstep. Well written information prior to arrival and contained at the house. Clean place, nice comfortable bed linen. No amenities nearby so you do need to go prepared, although a thoughtful welcome pack is provided. Be prepared to light the wood burner in the colder months as the large living room would get chilly very quickly.

Super accommodation, gorgeous views, slightly out of the way but we knew that when we booked.
Super accommodation, gorgeous views, slightly out of the way but we knew that when we booked. Very well equipped, lots of information provided which was really appreciated. I'd have liked a Barbecue (particularly as we arrived during the hot Easter mini-heatwave). Also, it's not entirely clear which areas you're allowed to access, perhaps this can be clarified? (eg the picnic table/swings to the side/rear).
Overall, a really lovely holiday. And the farmer was particularly friendly, inviting us in to see the new lambs.

A great Holliday cottage if you like a peaceful location for walks and to be a little remote.
A great Holliday cottage if you like a peaceful location for walks and to be a little remote. The cottage and facilities are splendid. I believe almost everything you need has been considered and if you don’t want to drive out for groceries Tesco deliver. I had 4 nights there with my 2 children aged 7 & 8 and we all loved it. I have still scored it 10 for amenities as you really go somewhere like this for peace and quiet

We had a perfect stay ! The cottage was cosy and spotlessly clean. Location was great for walking with great views of the dales from the windows. The rooms were light and airy the pictures do not do this cottage justice at all it is lovely, well equipped and from someone that is fussy, it was perfect. Nice touches such as a welcome pack and lots of information to hand for local walks etc.
