We absolutely loved our stay at Holly Bank.
We absolutely loved our stay at Holly Bank. Entry was very easy via the keysafe. Every little touch and home comfort had been thought of - the beds were extremely comfortable, the kitchen was the most well-equipped of any holiday let I have previously stayed in, and the under floor heating in the ensuite bathrooms was an absolute treat! Couple all this with the incredible views, and it made for the perfect Lake District stay. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends.

This was our 4th visit to Holly Bank and again it didn't disappoint.
This was our 4th visit to Holly Bank and again it didn't disappoint. Plenty of room for 6 adults, 2 children and the dog. The cottage, as usual, was very clean and tidy. The only downside was
the patio furniture, which has been commented on by previous occupants. There was only 4 chairs, one of which was broken, which is not enough for 8 people. The spare chairs in the summer house were also broken. Definitely need replacing. Luckily we took fishing chairs with us. Glad to see the decking was replaced since we stayed last year. Again, the children were grateful for the teddy bears left on their beds, thank you. We were lucky enough to see a red squirrel every day. The weather was also kind to us. Will certainly return again.

Holly Bank Cottage was an ideal break for our family, it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay in the Lake District. As a family we have been staying in self catering accommodation for 36 years and this cottage had the best equipped kitchen we have experienced.
The accommodation was clean on arrival, there was plenty of space for 7 adults, although my daughter did find it an experience sleeping on a top bunk for the first time in years, as she couldn’t get into the bottom bunk.
The grounds are extensive, a little hilly but our dogs did enjoy hunting for rabbits and following the scents of the wildlife around the garden.

Great views, maintenance lets it down.
The views from Holly Bank are amazing and truly gold star. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the house. Several things let it down for us. The biggest issue was the fact that there is no mention of a public right of way in the description. While sitting in bed with a cup of tea admiring the view in the morning were startled on several occasions by the appearance of people walking directly past the the window!
The dining chairs in the kitchen and conservatory were falling apart. One gave way while our son was holding his 5 month old daughter, no injuries but could have been worse.
The decking outside the kitchen and conservatory is very slippery and rotten in places.
There is a large area of damp on the wall by the window in the main bedroom.
We didn’t use the summerhouse as the view is obscured by the trees in front of it.
The boot room is more of a wood store, full of spiders and not accessible directly from within the house.
On the positive side. The views from the house and conservatory are stunning, with Skiddaw to the left and Bassenthwaite lake to the front.
The sunset over the lake one evening was incredible.
We saw red squirrels in the garden, numerous wild birds and could hear owls all around at night time.
The Sun Inn, just 10 minutes walk into the village, is friendly and serves good food and real ale. Keswick and Cockermouth are a 15 minute drive away with good selection of shops and eateries. Good market in Keswick on Thursday and Saturday.
We were a party of 6 adults, one baby and 3 dogs and the property accommodated all of us comfortably.

Great property, views second to none. Well equipped, a couple of little tweaks would make it a 10/10, nothing major, I left a couple of suggestions in the book provided.

Beautiful cottage, lovely location, amazing weather.
Beautiful cottage, lovely location, amazing weather. This is our third visit and we will definitely be back again. The grandchildren loved the lion teddies left for them, thank you. Put a couple of things in the improvement book, but nothing that spoiled our holiday and enjoyment of the cottage.

The cottage was ideal for walks etc. The view was amazing and nice wildlife. Everything you needed was there and the lion cubs left for my grandchildren was a lovely touch. Drive steep but gave us no trouble and at one point had four cars.

We were aware there was a public footpath through the grounds of the property but did not expect a large party of teenagers peering in the windows of the bedrooms

Lovely spacious cottage, kids loved the garden with stream, the woods and garden house.
Lovely spacious cottage, kids loved the garden with stream, the woods and garden house. Good location for local and further afield walks. Downside was the journey to the outskirts of Keswick or Cockermouth for food shopping. Ideal for summer with patio area.
