Room was large and comfortable and the staff were very pleasantand helpful. Breakfast was freshly cooked with a choice of dishes. Parking in the car park across the street was easy. Not luxury but good value.

Couldn't fault it. Lovely hotel in great surroundings and very relaxing. Large rooms, bed and bathroom meticulously clean, friendly helpful staff and great breakfast! Exceptional value for money and will look forward to visiting this hotel again. Thank you!

Don’t stay here on a Saturday night if you want a peaceful night and not to be worken up at 5.30am on a Sunday morning with builders drilling and working outside the hotel doors. Hotel not interested and do not bother to reply to emails regarding complaint .

Lovely! We’ve stayed here a few times now and it’s always excellent

Good location. Booked and paid for early check in but room wasn’t ready after the agreed time. Not very organised at reception. Room was lovely, spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. We ate at the adjoining Block steakhouse restaurant that evening and although food was good the staff let the whole experience down, especially at then end of our main course when the room was being prepared for a big party coming in tables, chairs and cutlery was being set up around in very loudly and when we were finishing our drinks we were asked to move to the bar. Breakfast was a good selection and tasty. The next morning when checking out we were questioned whether we’d paid the early check in fee and to pay for three packets of crisps which apparently had been charged to our room…when we viewed the receipt it was from several days earlier and not during our stay. So although the hotel room itself was clean and comfortable I feel more staff training is needed.

Great location in centre of Cockermouth with 24hr parking for £6.60 in public car park across the road. Fabulous, modern decorated hotel with friendly chap at check in. Gorgeous room with amazing shower (221 was at top of hotel and was very quiet). Had a super nights sleep and a wonderful hearty breakfast the next morning. Highly recommended.

This hotel is well placed in Cockermouth with everything you need a stones throw away.
Hotel itself has a very good restaurant called Blocks up one door fantastic Chinese and Thai restaurant Called Bamboo next to there a fantastic pub called the Castle bar great atmosphere and friendly staff as was the case of all the places we visited.
Breakfast at the hotel first class and arrived promptly by the friendly staff.
The one thing that spoilt our visit was the lack of sleep caused by the most uncomfortable bed that we have ever slept in the mattresses were past their best years ago. Room 213 give that one a miss. Come on management get your act together. The most important thing in a hotel is THE BED.
You have everything else right so why not fix the problem.

I would recommend this hotel , it’s worthy of my five star rating
The hotel is conveniently situated for buttermere and other lakes plus catbells.
The hotel is clean , I booked a small single bed room and it had everything I needed for weekend stay .
The staff are so friendly and helpful, it made my stay so enjoyable.
We also used Blocks steakhouse, and it was excellent food .

Very clean and comfortable. Helpful staff.
Just a small suggestion, maybe a mug in the room to make a drink in. I only had a small cup, no saucer.

Well-located hotel, nice and quiet. Happy with the breakfast as well.

A nice hotel situated in the centre of Cockermouth. Lots of pubs and restaurants nearby, especially the steakhouse which is attached to the hotel. I can recommend this. Parking is in the council car park opposite for which there is a charge but it is very cheap. £6.60 for 24 hours.
Inside the hotel is very old, (but nice) with low ceilings, crooked floors and exposed wooden beams. Stunning. On arrival the check in manager was very friendly and helpful, as were the rest of the staff during the stay. Wifi worked fine for business too.

Regarding dinning whilst the food was excellent there was a lack of choice regarding fish courses and also a lack of cheese as alternate to sweets.

Had a lovely time! The staff were very friendly and attentive. Really do rate them and the breakfast was lovely
The floor wasn’t as clean as it could be, shower items were not replaced for our second day and 2 single beds were pushed together to make a double but sadly not the same height so was very uncomfortable.

Th bedroom was exceptionally good.
The staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond what they needed to do.
Will definitely stay again in the future.

Upgraded to delightful spacious executive room with spotless roomy bathroom. Pleasant outlook over patio. Delicious evening meal with efficient staff. Excellent options for plentiful breakfast served by very friendly staff, particularly Beth.
Highly recommend this establishment.

In the centre of Cockermouth, friendly staff, very clean, smart and recently done up (some bits still WIP) room was clean and comfortable, modern bathroom. We didn’t have breakfast, but the restaurant looked nice. The bar was warm and comfortable, all in all, a good hotel, in a great location and Cockermouth is a fabulous town, interesting original shops and galleries…Will definitely be there again.

Nice, refurbished room and bathroom. It would have been better if there was storage in the bedroom and bathroom. The staff were delightful. Breakfast was very good. Shame the restaurant is not open on Mondays and Tuesday as is the case with several of the other restaurants in Cockermouth.

Excellent well maintained property in town.

Lovely hotel. Polite and friendly staff. Room was well presented and calm colours. Bed was not that comfortable. The matress was too hard, memory foam mattress or even topper would make a much more comfortable sleep. Good breakfast with lots of choice on the menu.

Hotel situated in a good spot. Free parking, recently refurbished room, tea/ coffee replenished each day. Great breakfast, even catered for my dog. Lovely staff, very friendly, nothing too much bother

Lovely stay here. I expected the executive suite to be bigger but it was fine.

We were given room 202 on the ground floor which was directly looked into by the courtyard from 3 windows, with very ill fitting blinds. Even to the bathroom window, with no frosted glass, just a blind. One of windows in the bedroom couldn’t be locked and could be easily opened from the outside. We asked for another room, to be told the hotel was full and not possible.
I really don’t know how this hotel is rated 3 * This room was supposed to have been an executive room, was very dirty. The bathroom had a dirty smell and not cleaned properly. There was a lot of mould around the bath. The amount of dust in the extractor fan, the pipe behind the toilet, in the radiators and on top of the head board, suggests that they haven’t been cleaned for a long time.
As for the TV, it was so small and so far away from the bed, you felt like you needed binoculars to watch it.
Never again would we stay in this hotel.
The room was very hot so asked if they could supply a fan and we were given a small heater/ fan that was useless. Being on the ground floor, opening the window wasn’t an option, so needless to say we had a very uncomfortable night with not much sleep. When we did manage to sleep we were woken up at 5am by someone in the room above pacing up and down continuously until we got up for breakfast at 8am
Having said all that, I must add that the staff was fantastic! We ate in Blocks Steakhouse for an evening meal and breakfast the following morning.

Great hotel and fantastic breakfast. The only small point is the floor isn’t level in the bedroom due to the buildings age which meant the bed was sloping a little

EXCELLENT!! Perfect stay, perfect rooms, delicious food

A pleasant surprise.
Rooms basic and clean, comfortable bed.
Looks can deceive although a plain exterior this has a charming interior.
Good quality steak restaurant and bar.
Staff know their menu and allergy status.

This place is a worse stay I've ever had. That is after being in so called deluxe room which has nothing to do with the word 'deluxe'. The supposed double bed was a connection of two single ones therefore you still had to sleep on a single to avoid the gap inbetween the two. If that was not enough, both of the single sides were uncomfortable and unpleasant to sleep on. I should say to lay on as you can't possibly sleep in this 'hotel' if there are any other living beings moving about. This building is so old the floor makes incredibly bad sounds every time anyone steps on it.
I've barely managed to sleep one hour throughout the night having to go to work in the morning.
Ommelete for breakfast was disgusting, it was like tasting piece of rubber deep fried in burnt oil.
The only good thing was staff. Extremely nice and on top of things.
I feel the reviews for this place are highly suspicious.
I would not stay in there even free of charge.

Nice hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a large recently renovated room overlooking the courtyard which was lovely and quiet. Generous tasty breakfast.
