We arrived in the dark which was an experience! When we got inside it was lovely, with a warm and cosy feeling. Rooms were lovely and everything was very clean. At night it’s is extremely quiet, which is exactly what we wanted and pitch black . Christmas Eve morning it started to snow which was magical. Walked into Pately Bridge which is a lovely village with good independent shops. Would definitely recommend this cottage and would definitely book it again. The location of the cottage is superb - overlooking the hillsides to the reservoir and surrounded by farmland. We loved it and hope to be back next year. The cottage is very warm and cosy with a log-burning stove. Beds comfortable and kitchen well-equipped. Lots of walks from the door and in Nidderdale and the surrounding area. Pateley Bridge is about 5 minutes in the car and about 2 miles walk. Facilities there fairly limited but met most of our needs. The cottage was very clean which was reassuring in the circumstances. Lovely cottage accessed by very narrow roads. Fantastic scenery. Good supply of equipment. However possibly due to present vivid situations be aware you won’t find anything in the kitchen such as salt and pepper, sugar, tea, coffee, milk, matches and dishwasher tablets. So go prepared and it’s not a problem. Brilliant break.
Brilliant break.
Brilliant break. Cottage is lovely and the views from it are stunning. We listened to the owls at night and had a couple of beautifully clear skies, managed to see the Milky Way. Also watched the sheep and cows being moved. Good walk into Pateley Bridge which has everything you need. Several other good walks from the cottage as well. It was clean and cosy with plenty of room for the 5 of us Note: the potholes have been filled in but make sure you go over Pately Bridge and up from the Sportsman’s Arms on arrival. Our sat nav took us along the top route which is narrow and longer. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Wickwoods is the perfect place to get away from it all.

Wickwoods is the perfect place to get away from it all. Set in a glorious location that's rural, but within easy reach of local amenities. The cottage worked well for our family with its two separate bedroom and bathing areas. This arrangment meant the kids didn't disturb the grandparents when they got up too early! There was just a couple of things that let it down ever so slightly. The first was the two humungous pot holes on the road near the entrance which couldn't be avoided, although they were navigable providing you took it steady. Secondly we found the bbq hadn't been cleaned out before our arrival. Apart from these two minor annoyances though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would totally recommend to family groups that want some peace and quiet in the most fantastic setting.
