About this house rental
Fish Creek Beginnings is a charming, peaceful, and updated mid-century modern home nestled in the woods. Although a more private location, it is located just minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Fish Creek. Activities, restaurants, a swimming beach, YMCA, and a marina are all nearby. You can even ride your bike the 1.5 miles to the heart of Fish Creek. The home is also centrally located to access the other major towns in Door County. Your private oasis is truly close to everything Door County has to offer!
Enjoy the nostalgic charm of this updated mid-century 2 bedroom home. The cottage is stocked with retro board games, croquet, bags, and bocce ball. Make smores around the outdoor Door County firepit, gaze at the stars, watch the birds, cozy in with the indoor gas fireplace, dance to the record player, and enjoy a meal in the fully stocked kitchen.
The interior open concept is very comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen; cook-top, oven, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and ample seating. A spacious living room with comfortable furniture, TV, satellite cable, DVD player, VCR along with tons of VHS classics, WIFI, stone gas fireplace, big windows, and an extra large view of the woods & waterfall.
There are two bedrooms; one with a king bed and large view of the backyard, and the other a peaceful queen sized bedroom. The master has blackout curtains and both bedrooms have sleep machines making for a good nights sleep. There is central air, an updated bathroom with a clean shower, and a washer & dryer.
Fish Creek Beginnings' backyard is a nature paradise with a gorgeous stone waterfall (5' drop.) The sound of the waterfall makes the backyard feel extra tranquil and peaceful. It's complete with a large outdoor patio, charcoal grill, built-in fire pit, outdoor string lights, large dining table, and fun chairs. You can also walk the private bridge, trails and woods.
Enjoy Mother Nature here. It's woods, water features, wildlife, a busy bird feeder, and stargazing. The home is nestled in 14 acres of forest containing cedar and maple, wetlands, and perennial landscape. Fish Creek’s seasonal creek begins on the property which is where the name comes from.
Fish Creek Beginnings is perfect for a Romantic Getaway or a Family Vacation. However, as much we love little kiddos, if they are extra active and you don't feel like watching their every move, this is not an ideal place to rent. There is too much within their reach indoors and out.
Check-in: 4:00 PM or later
Check-out: 11:00 AM or earlier
There is a $75.00 cleaning fee.
Sorry, No Pets or Exceptions.
There is ample parking for your vehicles, bikes and/or boat. The garage is for the owners.
Fish Creek Beginnings does not provide charcoal for the grill or firewood for the outdoor firepit. If any is left from previous guest you are welcome to use it.
If you want to relax in a retro happy home in a private and peaceful location, we welcome you to FISH CREEK BEGINNINGS! Where Fish Creek starts & memories never end.

This is our second time staying here and we just love it. It is truly a peaceful spot to be at during a very busy weekend (Labor Day) in Door County. We had fires, hung by the waterfall, grilled, bought our own records to play from Bay Vinyl, and watched some VHS tapes. We also ventured out each day for various things, but it was so nice coming back to a peaceful place. I love coming here.

The yellow cottage always charms us with its gorgeous backyard and cozy ambiance. We’ve returned to it seven times now and each time it’s hard to leave. The views are so pretty of the woods. We often saw deer and lots of types of birds. The waterfall is relaxing and the patio is a great place to hang out. It’s well located and very well appointed with everything you need for an easy, fun getaway. The host is delightful and extremely responsive. We can’t wait to return!

My boyfriend and I came for MDW and had a great time. The place is very clean which is always important to me! The bed was very comfy. All the vhs movies were fun on the rainy nights. We loved the outdoor fireplace and seeing the stars. Just check yourself for ticks as we had a couple on us after walking the trail!

We had a wonderful time stay at this charming, cozy cottage in the woods. Location is excellent, house is very clean and charming with its 50s decor and the back yard area is a true retreat. 5 stars!

My husband and I were very pleased with our accommodations in this secluded getaway. The home was very clean and tastefully decorated in mid-century decor; location was perfect, out of town, yet within close proximity to most any destination. It was well supplied with everything we needed, and has a beautiful back yard with fire pit and waterfall, in which we were able to kick back and relax one evening. Our days were packed with activities and it was great coming back to our "home away from home". A couple evenings were cool and we enjoyed relaxing in front of the indoor gas fireplace. The county highway that passes in front of the home is wide enough for biking or running into town. Our hosts, Mark and Riane were immediately responsive to us when we booked and with any questions. I definitely will recommend this home to friends and relatives and would book again in the future!

We loved this property! The mid century vibe was amazing. We played the records, watched VHS tapes, strolled the woods, sat by the waterfall, had a fire outside, read a book from the library, and just loved the peaceful, private place. But even with the privacy we were 5 minutes from places like Wild Tomato, Skyway Drive In, a BP, and so much more. We loved having this place to come back to amongst the Labor Day crowds. The hosts have put so much into this place to make you feel at home.

Our family had a great time staying here. The accommodations were spacious, clean and tranquil. The road is a little busy for walkers/bikers with kids to get to town. Easily driveable to the heart of Fish Creek. We loved playing the classic board games, having camp fires and watching all the wildlife that came into the yard in the mornings. The waterfall was not working for the length of our stay which was a bummer. The hosts were responsive regarding the issue, and we felt they were invested in getting it fixed for us to enjoy. Overall, a really good place to stay, relax & enjoy all the Door County has to offer!

Beautiful setting south of Fish Creek. Plenty of outdoor seating, fire pit and waterfall. Spacious living room that joins the kitchen. Bring the wine as they have all the glasses you will need. Big windows let in lots of daylight. Central air keeps you comfortable. A++.

We really enjoying our stay at Fish Creek Beginnings! The house is exactly as described and has pretty much everything you could need. Pros: spacious closets, large outdoor space, comfy beds, proximity to town. Cons: slow wifi, distant neighbors who were target shooting every afternoon/early evening.

Loved the place. It has a easy to start indoor fireplace that’s great on cold days. The living room window overlooked the backyard where you can watch the birds (lots of blue jays) and we even saw a wild turkey! On a clear night, great view of the stars from the back yard. Would recommend to others!

We can't say enough good things about this property. Everything was so clean and tidy. The kitchen had everything we needed. Ample linens provided. It was a wonderful experience. The backyard is a gem, perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking. Downtown Fish Creek is a short bike ride down the road, same with Penninsula state park. I highly recommend staying here!

This was our third time staying at Fish Creek Beginnings and it we love it a little bit more each time we come. The home is so cozy, comfortable, clean, and well-equipped--it has everything you might need. The property is serene and peaceful. Even though it's close to town, it truly feels like a secluded oasis. I love sitting, drinking my coffee in the morning, looking out into the yard, seeing the wildlife, and enjoying the beautiful setting. It's a fabulous place to stay--plus Riane is a wonderful host. She's super responsive (she got back to all my questions within minutes) and is friendly and helpful. Choose Fish Creek Beginnings as your next Door County getaway--you won't regret it!

We had a great time at this beautiful home. The woodwork is stunning, and it is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The view of the waterfall was so nice, it gave a peaceful tranquil feel to just hanging out. We definitely appreciated the fireplace given the cold wet conditions of the weekend. The only things we’d change would be a better mattress on the pull out sofa bed and adding another bathroom (although I realize that that is a unrealistic suggestion.) Overall, it was a marvelous experience.

Everything listed about this property is accurate, perhaps even undersold. Perfect location too. Just minutes away from town. Owner responded to our questions within minutes. We would definitely come back again.

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and it was the perfect spot! It was so relaxing, fun to dance and listen to records, and close to so much if we wanted to get out and about. We loved the sounds of the waterfall in the backyard, seeing the birds on the feeder, and the indoor fireplace to cozy up to and watch a movie. It was a great, romantic spot!

The property is a lovely little cottage. The owners have done a great job and worked with us kindly through a difficult time. Right before we were scheduled to leave we had to put our doggie to sleep and they helped us with the schedule the best they could. All the reviews are correct, everything is there that you need. Pictures are totally accurate. Location is excellent. You won’t be sorry to stay here!

Well organized, clean and tastefully decorated! Very welcoming. Loved the backyard waterfall. The sign by the driveway always helped us find our way “home.”

The property was beautiful and so much better then described. The back yard and waterfall were breathtaking and watching the birds was so much fun.
The cottage was extremely clean and well maintained. Everything we could have wanted seemed to be there. Beds were very comfortable - we are not fans of duvets so that took some getting used to.
We had many excursions we wanted to make so we didn't get to stay at the cottage as much as we wanted - next time we will have to make it a longer vacation.
Thank you so very much for letting us share your lovely cottage. We will certainly plan to book again when we come back to Door County.

Everything was perfect about our stay! Close to all the things we wanted to do, but secluded enough to give us time to relax. The property is well stocked with everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again!

We were so happy with the property for a last minute trip. The host was responsive, place clean, and background awesome for lounging or exploring. Close to town and room to roam for our 14 month old, who just started walking days before our stay.

We enjoyed a small family reunion here with 6 of us all falling in love with the beautiful yard and views —- and the enchanting character of the home and 1950s decor. Had a wonderful time hanging out at the home - with leisure mornings enjoying the sounds of the waterfall. The owners also provide great insider tips for places to eat and visit. A short drive from downtown Fish Creek - we especially enjoyed the Fish Creek beach - perfect for small children due to its shallow waters with pristine changing facilities. We loved spending the summer evenings playing jazz on the record player and working on the Golden Girls puzzle —- and making s’mores while gazing at the stars. However you’re choosing to spend your time in Vacationland - this is the perfect place to “anchor.”

Ideal and idyllic
The property is beautiful and the home completely comfortable — exactly as pictured if not better. The home’s location on the Door Peninsula is perfect — central to everything yet on a quiet road. The patio, waterfall, and surrounding woods are such that you can be quite happy just staying at home for hours — especially in the evening around a fire — as we did. We will be back.

Perfect Weekend Get Away
This cabin is adorable. The pictures don’t do it justice. Has all of the amenities you need for a get away, plus more. The outside area was so beautiful: the waterfall and little hiking trail on the property were great bonuses. Location is amazing as well. Quick drive to all the best door county locations but on a quiet road to relax at the end of the day. Highly recommend!!
