This home is a gem. We arrived pretty worn out from the long drive and truthfully we weren't expecting anything special, but this place was definitely a surprise.
It has a charm that is unique, it was very clean and so well stocked with everything you'd need for a comfortable vacation stay. There is ample space, four comfortable beds and two bathrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed as well as beautiful propane bbq pit right on the back patio. There is an HD smart T.V. and very good wifi, but spotty cell reception in the area (which is a small sacrifice for such serenity)
The porch house was absolutely perfect, and as the name suggests, the porch, which is basically a huge covered patio overlooking Terilingua creek, is amazing! The veiw is so beautiful and omg the stars at night were the best I've seen in my life. This is the perfect spot for a family to stay who wants to enjoy Big Bend, but still stay somewhere comfortable. Will definitely be back!

The location of the Terlingua Creek Porch House is perfect for access to Big Bend NP.
The bed rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. A big plus was that necessary items such as detergent, paper towels, soaps, shampoos, and even coffee, sugar, and creamer were provided.
The porch facing the creek is beautiful but it was just too cold to take advantage of it.
When we come back to Big Bend we will definitely check on the availability of the Porch House.

Nice place for area adventures. A little hard to find in the dark but served our needs well. Very interesting community. Enjoyed our time there.

The property was very suitable for our group of three motorcycle travelers. We would not hesitate to stay there again should the need arise.

Spent the weekend exploring Big Bend Park with friends. This was a quiet, practical place to serve as base camp. We had all the amenities needed as well as close to restaurants for evening dinners.

This was our second time at the Porch House. Came for the Cook-off and also had a great time with family on the porch overlooking Terlingua Creek. House was clean and perfect for 5 adults. There is a nice kitchen and 2 full baths. There is also a grill on the porch that invites you to cook out. We didn't as our time was limited and we wanted to visit several spots while in Terlingua.

The Porch House was just what we needed as a basecamp to explore Big Bend. We were comfortable, and the property owners were communicative and provided a lot of information beforehand. The house is not "fancy" - in keeping with Terlingua - but we enjoyed dinner on the fabulous porch and were comfortable here. It is very close to Far Flung Outdoor Center, a couple of restaurants, and of course the edge of BBNP. Night skies are amazing, and it was a quiet environment every night, even with La Kiva and a little live music across the creek.

Loved the location of the house. It was just a couple of miles from the Terlingua Ghost Town (where there are several great places to eat) and the businesses that provide Big Bend tours. Also just a few miles from the entrance to Big Bend National Park.

Overall, the place was ok. We did have an ant problem which in the desert can be. Contacted Daryl and he sent someone over. But it didn't take care of the problem. We finally got some spray and sprayed the front area where they were coming in.
Also you could tell there had been a problem. Upon further investagation, we found dead ants in corners of other parts of the house. So that tells me the floors weren't swept before we arrived.
Beware tho, there are window units for AC. The one in the living room was extremely noisy.
The kitchen was very well equiped with dishes, pans etc.
Not much for spices except for salt & pepper.
If you need plastic wrap, aluminum foil, bring some. It isn't provided.
The deck was nice and enjoyed sitting out there eating breakfast. Even when it got dark, you could watch & gaze at the stars.
I did let Daryl know my complaints, so this review shouldn't be new to him.
Overall as a family, we discussed the whole situation and said we would stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is a bit dated inside, but beds were clean and comfy, the kitchen had all we needed, and the creek was really enjoyable. My 7yr thought it was a perfect spot for us. My husband and i enjoyed the porch overlooking the creek and the stars at night.

We had great experience with communicating with the owner and the check process was on point. The location was a bit interesting but the hills and creek view was nice. The place could use a bit of updating but not bad at all.

This property is in a great location for visiting Big Bend - only about 10 minutes from the entrance to the park. It is also about 5 minutes away from the Terlingua Ghost Town. The house is rustic, but clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and there were plenty of bath towels and extra blankets. The back porch has great views of the sunset!

My colleague and I were in town for a training that was held at Far Flung Outdoor Center. The Porch House provided the perfect home away from home during our week long stay. It was perfectly situated and less than a 5 minute drive to the Center. We were also very close to the grocery store and various restaurants in the area. The house was clean and cozy and the managers checked in regularly by email to ensure we were comfortable. I would definitely recommend this location to others planning a stay in the Terlingua area, and would stay here again if I make it back to the area.

This well appointed rustic property is close to everything and short drive to the entrance of the national park. There are not many homes of this size available for rent in Terlingua. It is very clean, has everything you need, comfortable beds and a fire pit. I highly recommend this property for small families and anyone needing a little exra space not looking for a glamping experience.

Clean and cozy, at the best location outside of Big Bend National Park - just 10 minutes from the west entrance. And maybe 20 minutes from Big Bend State Park. Near the Ghost Town, restaurants, gas station, general store...just a great location!

This property was a good fit for two couples. In warmer weather it would have been great to sit out on the porch and watch the sun set. We made good use of the kitchen and it was the center of activity. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

First time to Big Bend Area
Location of Porch House was ideal. We played golf in Lajitas, ate dinner in Terlingua, and 2 day trips to Big Bend. Enjoyed morning and evening time on porch. Accommodations were very adequate. Perfect for a guys trip. Thanks!

Nice digs in the desert.
This property has just about everything you need when you visit Big Bend NP. It is clean, comfortable and has, as the name might suggest, a very nice outdoor porch. It is rustic, but very comfortable.

Family for Terlingua Wedding
My daughter’s wedding was at Willow House which right up to street (Hwy 170.). My son, daughter and spouse stayed here. Additional family stayed in an RV park and we’re able to join us at this location for dinner and sunset. It is a beautiful location. Sun rises in the front and sets in the back. Just gorgeous every day. Recommend arriving before sundown as it was a little tricky to find in the dark.

Porch house review
Great property! This was our 2nd time in Terlingua; we needed a bigger space to share with friends. The house had everything you needed including to cook etc and a great location super close to everything including both state and national parks. Finding the property, and the road in was really great for the desert. Our friends had the master bedroom which looked spacious and comfortable. The 2nd bedroom had 2 beds which made a lot of noise when you moved and we’re not comfortable (bring your own pillow!) but linens were very clean. Property management was very service driven. They gave enough details to make you feel supported in the stay and quickly responded when needed.
Overall would highly recommend and would definitely book again.

Great Patio
Great place for a bunch of guys to have a nice relaxing weekend away. House is not luxurious however its clean and offers plenty of space. Best thing about the place is the nice covered & furnished patio. Worst part is that you cannot drink the water/water quality. They do supply jugs of drinkable water.

Nice house for 4 Guys
We rented this house because of its convenient location to the national park and Terlingua Ghost Town. There was plenty of room for 4 guys to spread out inside, make good use of the kitchen and enjoy the patio while watching the sunset. Hosts were excellent communicators and made sure we had everything we needed.

Comfortable and convenient
The house was very comfortable and has everything you need. Be sure to follow the directions given and really drive through the nursery. If the stove goes out, likely just need to switch the propane tank on the porch. They had a spare ready for us. We enjoyed sunsets and star gazing from the porch. Beds were firm, but comfortable. The third sleeping area is best for kids as it is not private. Stayed warm at night in December with space heaters. This was a good home to get cleaned up and relax in after spending the day in the park.

Terlingua Creek Porch House
This house had so many things wrong that I hardly know where to begin. The photos on the VRBO website do not accurately portray the property. First of all, the area around is is junky and ugly. The house itself has very poor and crude carpentry. Some rooms do not even have baseboards. The baseboards and trim in other rooms are very crude and poorly installed. The floors are concrete and there are cracks and areas that are discolored from trying to repair the concrete. The lower cabinets in the kitchen is open cabinetry and you can see all the dust and dirt. All of the cabinetry throughout the house is very poor quality. The furniture is old and worn out. We arrived on Tuesday, Oct. 6 and discovered that night that the gas kitchen stove oven would not light. I emailed the property manager on Wednesday and it was Thursday afternoon before he responded. We have been using VRBO for vacation rentals for several years, and this is the first time that we have less than acceptable accommodations. We will not use this property again and do not recommend it.

Needed escape
This was exactly what we needed. We have been to BBNP several times and knew this would be the perfect escape from Covid madness. The house was clean and quirky. Comfy beds. Plenty of fresh towels. Hand sanitizer and face masks were available though we brought our own. Kitchen was well supplied though it could have used a big frying pan. Janet was responsive and helpful. The window units kept us comfortable despite the 100+ heat. BBNP was closed so we hiked what we could in the state park before it got too hot. Spent the rest of the day relaxing, playing games and reading. Wish there had been better seating on the back porch. The two bar stools were very uncomfortable. And the odd day bed with no cushion was useless. The stars were amazing at night. We will be returning when the park reopens.

Great Terlingua home!
This place is very close to the west entrance of big bend, so it was perfect for our family get away. It was very hot, so being able to come back to the air conditioning in the afternoon was really nice. The creek out back was a nice surprise, my kids and I found fossils in the shale on the banks.

Our stay
To begin with, there was no number indicating the address of the house, at the driveway to the property. We drove by it at first and had to turn around. Went by it again and turned into a neighbor’s drive. They told us which house it was and when we drove into that driveway, we could see the house and recognize it from the picture. A number at the end of the driveway would help ALOT! The house was clean but could use some new curtains in the twin bedroom. One set there was in shreds. Some of the lightbulbs did not work- on the porch and in the twin bedroom. The light bulbs in all areas should probably be checked each time the property is readied for the next guest. Overall, a good rating.
