About this cottage rental
The Beach House is located in beautiful Shanna Bay, right on the beach on the very north end of Cat Island.
It is the ideal place to vacation if you like to swim, to snorkel, fish, paddle-board, to kayak, to take long walks along beautiful pink beaches, to discover caves and blue holes, to experience Bahamian and Continental cuisine, to lie in a hammock and read, to grill your catch in the evening, to watch the sun set in the turquoise sea, to meet up with rays and turtles ( and maybe a straying barracuda), to visit historic places - really, only one - and to come back to again and again.
Two generous bedrooms with plenty of place for extra beds or cribs, two bathrooms with open air showers and a lovely living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining porch where you will spend most of your time.
Satellite TV and High Speed unlimited internet access included.
The Shanna Beach House is close to two restaurants within five minutes walk, and the closest grocery store is only ten minutes away by car.
Arrangement can be made for car rental, fishing guide and deep sea fishing.

The beach at the house is fantastic. The house needed some care. The internet at the house was spotty at best and in fact for a couple of days did not work. The AC in the bedroom did not cool the bedroom as the temps in the bedroom were 85-90 degs making it hard to sleep. The electrical system for the lights in and around 1 of the sleeping pods and bathroom was not working. In general the furniture in the living room was dirty and in fact we had roaches crawl out of the sofa. We understand that its a beach cottage and its hard to keep things clean. It would be helpful for the owner to have some instructions about the unit regarding check in and check out as well as helpful island hints about grocery stores and restaurants, etc. We left 3 days early due to the conditions. So, disappointed.

Truly a vacation. Yes, off the beaten path, but man is it worth it. The absolute most peaceful and beautiful beach my wife and I have ever been to, and we’ve been to lots. Jacqueline is a wonderful host, and the property is comfortable and well maintained. Would definitely go again

Our goal was to stay as close to the water as possible and this hit the target! Great location in Orange Creek on beautiful beach with no one around. Perfect for a couples, two couples, or a family. A short walk to Shonna’s Cove for dining, or use the fully equipped kitchen to make your own meals.

[late September early October] The house was even better than we imagined, in terms of comfort, layout, kitchen, baths, privacy, quiet, and being right on a stunningly beautiful beach. All we did was relax with books and walks on the beach; no movies, no emails, no texting, even though we could have. The setting is nothing short of fantastic. We snorkeled and paddle boarded a bit but mostly we just…relaxed. We had the entire beach to ourselves. Will absolutely come back. Thank you Jackie and Daisy.

This place is perfect. Beautiful house that is perfect for two families but not too much for 1. If you're coming to Cat Island, point is to unplug and get off the beaten path, and enjoy some time by the beach, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. Point is, a bit more remote and rustic. But if you're good with that, then this is a great corner of Cat Island to be in. Nearby store within a 10min drive with all that you need, and a great restaurant a short walk up the hill. Other than that you have the place mostly to yourself. Would love to stay again!

Orange Creek like a local
We really enjoyed our stay! Cat Island offers seclusion and relaxation and it’s a wonderful experience unlike anything you’ll find on the bigger islands. We were warmly welcomed by the neighbors and by Daisy and Debbie, who even showed us a conch salad recipe.
If you know what to expect with the out islands, then I can’t recommend this place strongly enough. We can’t wait to come back!

Our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers) had an experience of a lifetime at this very unique property. The beach is incredibly beautiful, and we spent almost all of our time there swimming, snorkeling, spearfishing, eating coconuts, kayaking, etc. If you like the outdoors and family time this is the place for you. The house is amazing. We also spent some time up the hill with Gabby and Frank at Shannas Cove. They provided us with some very nice dinners, as well as fishing and snorkeling trips. I highly recommend this destination but be warned, there is an element of roughing it similar to camping, or rather Glamping 😁

Paradise with Beautiful Accommodations
Jaqueline and Curtis were gracious hosts and allowed us to experience the most gorgeous place one can relax. The beach was secluded and had pink tones. The water was electric blue and sunsets were unreal. All the beaches were exceptional on the island. Cat Island is a friendly Island and a perfect place to relax. We found great Bakery's from Olive's and Elnor's place and always have great service from Danny King with the car rental. The 700 store is always helpful too! Great kayaks and paddle boards too. The accommodations included beautiful rain showers, a nice kitchen, a great outside grill, a huge outdoor deck space, and friendly assistance from Shawana, Jaqueline, and Curtis! This was the perfect vacation. Thanks again!

Great place to get away!
Jacquie and Curtis have a beautiful home and we were truly grateful for the accommodations. The sunsets from this house were the best in the world! This house is directly on a beautiful beach with paddle boards and kayaks. The locals are very friendly and the Rake and Scrape Music was amazing. Cat Island has many beautiful pink sand beaches and exploring around every turn! Danny King was a great help with the history and car rental. Cat Island is a special place and we would definitely stay here again!

The best place in the Bahamas for quiet family time.
My whole family and I are absolutely in love with the place and the owners. Fabulous location, great place for families with kids or couples looking for a perfect gateway. Jackie and Curtis are beyond awesome, they made us feel welcomed and made sure that we had everything we needed (and we were traveling with a toddler so it wasn’t easy). We will be back for sure.

True Bahama Paradise
This was our fourth visit to Cat Island and the first time staying in a private home. I loved everything about it from the owners, Jacqueline and Curtis, to the lovely folks who took care of us, Daisy, Debbie and Ricky. We love the location right down the beach from Shannas Cove. We could walk down the beach to Shannas Cove to enjoy the wonderful hospitality and fine cuisines for dinner yet have all the privacy and flexibility of enjoying our own cooking when we wanted. Without reiterating all of the other “spot on” comments, I highly recommend this home as a great getaway. Already planning for next year.

My wife and I shared 10 magnificent days here. Jacqueline and Curtis are wonderful hosts!!! They made our stay a dream for 10 days. We are well seasoned to the Out Islands Bahama experience and just returned to Cat Island after a few years. We are so glad we did. What an excellent TOTAL experience…..the house, the beach, the people, the Island!!!
We were greeted at the airport by Debbie who was gracious to take us to the grocers when we arrived. Jacqueline baked fresh bread for us and provided enough groceries for a couple breakfasts to get us started.
Debbie and Daisy, our caretakers, were wonderful and sweet ladies. They stopped in daily and made sure we had whatever we needed. We enjoyed the friendship we established with them during our stay. Everyone made us feel welcome, safe and "at home".
The beach was one of the most magnificent beaches we have ever stayed on and just a few steps from our porch. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets every night!! The house had kayaks for our use and that was a great plus.
What a wonderful place to unwind, relax, refresh, renew and reconnect. Since our return home we keep saying to each other “what an excellent trip”. It’s hard to get our minds “off the island” (not that we want too)!!!!!

Better than Atlantis!!
Our family of four had a fantastic time at Jacquie & Curtis's lovely beachfront home. The house is literally steps from the most gorgeous beach, which we had practically to ourselves for the week. I think at most we saw 6 or 7 people on the beach over the course of any given day and the views of the ocean and beach are spectacular. It's on the northwest side of the Island, so the sunsets are amazing at the end of the day.
We made good use of the kayaks and SUP's and our two children (ages 12 and 10), had the time of their lives. To quote my 12 year old daughter, "this place is better than Atlantis!". Jacquie and Curtis were amazing and were always nearby when we needed help, but never intrusive. They provided us with great info and contacts for excursions, where to buy food, restaurants, rental car... whatever we needed. Their advice was always spot on. As a couple of other reviewers mentioned, the house is within walking distance of two good restaurants, and the one at Shanna's Cove has a world class chef (seriously!) who also does excellent pizza and burgers.
Cat Island is truly a hidden gem in the Caribbean: it's very safe, not over-run with tourists, has super-friendly, welcoming people, interesting history and yes, pristine beaches and gorgeous scenery. If you are looking to get away from it all and leave your worries behind, this is the place for you! The beach house is well equipped with everything you need and our kids loved having the room to themselves (the 2 bedrooms are separated by the kitchen/living room building). For families with younger children/babies, you might want to be all in one room, but the rooms are very large so there's plenty of space.
We loved everything about our stay here and can't wait to visit again some day! My husband and I have traveled all over the world and it is rare for us to want to repeat a stay at the same location, but Cat Island and this beach house are truly the exception to that rule.

A real beach vacation
This was the perfect place for our family beach vacation. My family of 4 kids aged 4 and 22 months had a blast.
The beach house has everything you need and is pretty kid friendly. We arranged to have a crib for the baby and used a pull out for our older son. The bedrooms are at opposite ends so if you have young ones you may choose to sleep all in one room. We did a combination of both.
The living space is comfortable and adequate we enjoyed living with the doors open and feeling the ocean breeze.
The beach is stunning! Pictures don't do it Justice. The kids loved it! We saw 6 people pass by on the beach on our busiest day. The beach goes for miles. We walked and collected shells and played in the ocean.
Jacquline and Curtis were fantastic, kind and helpful. (Before and during our trip) As were Daisy and Debbie the ladies looking after the house while we were there.
This is a special little island and can be what you make it. There are adventures to be had but you can also relax and watch the waves as the day goes by.
I was a bit hesitant when booking as there were only two reviews but now I see there are more somlet that reassurance for you.
This place is worth getting to even though it's a bit off the beaten path that is part of its charm. It was a great trip for my family and we hope to visit again in the future.

Lovely home perfectly blends indoor and out on beautiful Cat Island
This home offers everything you need for a perfect stay on Cat Island - privacy, beachfront, seamless indoor/outdoor space, room for a family or 2 couples, kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel gear...and Jacque & Curtis nearby if you have questions or need anything. There are two places to eat just a few minutes walk down the beach in either direction. My husband and I stayed for a few nights and plan to return soon with our young children. It was a relaxing stay filled with as much adventure as we wanted - could sit and read a book on the beach all day...or add in some beach walks, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, secluded-beach-exploring. This house gives you room to spread out, a fully equipped kitchen if you wish to cook meals, and the alluring sound of gentle waves. Amazing find!

We have been going Eleuthera for years and finally found our home away from home. The location and house are more beautiful then any photo can capture. Perfect beach getaway
Our stay on Shannas Cove was all that we expected and more. We were greeted on our arrival by our wonderful hosts - Jacque and Curtis - with a very warm welcome which set the tone for our whole vacation. We shared the cottage with couple friends thoroughly enjoying the seclusion of the rental and the spectacular beach it was on. Most amazing vacation ever.
I still dream that I'm on Cat Island....What an amazing Cottage on an unspoiled island in the beautiful Bahamas. Crystal clear water steps from the house, we caught fish & conch, found amazing shells. We ate coconuts off the trees on the property. Jacqueline & Curtis were the best hosts, Jacqueline picked us up @ the airport, had the fridge stocked with food we requested and had us over their home for drinks. The house was amazing. Curtis did a great job on it.
Cat Island is old school Bahamas, beautiful with friendly people. Our daughters (8 & 10) had the adventure of their lives...catching fish, land crabs, anoles & tree frogs. I would snorkel for conch & my wife would come out on one of the kayaks that came with the house & bring them to shore, later we would crack & eat them on the deck.....I really miss Cat Island.

BEST hideaway house with GREAT owners!
I stayed in this cottage home of Jackie and Curtis's back in 2002-03 while helping to clear property that would eventually become Tail Winds Resort. This is a GREAT place to stay. Such a homey feel, with a perfect layout, on the best sandy cove that still offers privacy & quiet. Jackie and Curtis live close by and are the most warm and welcoming hosts while also leaving you to your privacy. The area is still the best on the Island for quiet/privacy while within easy driving range of nightlife and daytime adventure exploring. Highly recommend :)
