About this cabin rental

You may have to speak a little louder at the "Old Fisherman's Cottage," as the sound of waterfalls abound at this unique vacation rental. The main cabin was built on 6 acres and only 50 feet from Beech Creek, where only the creek does the rushing.

The cabin's interior features native ash flooring, white pine paneling, and lodge decor. There are 3 bedrooms in the main cabin, all queens. The 4th queen is in the treehouse and is required for any group over 6. The second bathroom is in the treehouse. A large screened porch with table and chairs, a porch swing and other seating opens onto a sun deck then a short ramp to the pavillion. This cabin has all the comforts of home in a private wilderness setting.

The treehouse is required for any group over 6. It features a queen bed, full bath with antique claw foot soaking tub, plus a covered porch with rhododendron railing overlooking the waterfall. This charming, romantic getaway is elevated and has the feel of a tree house. It is finished with all native wood and cathedral ceiling. It has its on TV. It is located only 50 feet from the main cabin yet retains its on privacy. Open the French doors and let the sound of the waterfall soothe you to sleep. The "Treehouse" does not rent separately to assure the privacy of our main cabin guest.

An old, abandoned, narrow gauge, rail bed provides a wonderful hiking trail up the creek. Great pool fishing on designated trout waters for miles upstream of the cabin. If you prefer to use a guide Foscoe Fishing Co's Orvis endorsed guides often frequent Beech Creek and can meet you on site, or book a float trip down the Watauga for world class trophy trout or smallmouth fishing.

Boating and lake fishing are six miles away on beautiful Watauga Lake. Skiing on Beech Mountain is seven miles away, along with world class restaurants and many other activities. Boone is 12 miles away with a multitude of amenities and activities.

My family throughly enjoyed our stay. My 13 yo grandaughter and 10 year old grandson especially enjoyed the creek and were in it at every opportunity. So happy to see them off their electronics and experiencing the outdoors! We will definitity be back. Rison Hines

My 4 sisters and I have been visiting Beech Mountain since we were small with our grandparents. Their old farmhouse is ours now but we have outgrown it when we all get together with our own families so we need an additional place to stay. Steve’s place is close by and it is absolutely perfect for all ages. Great place to relax, explore and spend quality time together. My kids loved the cute brown dog who visits often! My sisters and I loved everything about the home and property.

My family and I stayed in the Old Fisherman's Cottage to celebrate my retirement! Not a disappointment! Trout stream beside the cabin was absolutely breathtaking. Lots of space...we enjoyed dinners on the screened in porch, hanging out on the covered deck, making s'mores at the firepit and of course, relaxing in the hot tub! The cabin itself was very cozy and nostalgic, with lots of old family pictures that hinted at the history of the family and their life there. Wonderful weekend.... we will be back!

You cannot beat the location! Remote creekside property was great for our family. My boys were off their electronics and outside the whole trip. With the outdoor kitchen, hot tub, fire pit and corn hole, we had very little reason to be inside the cabin. That said, the cabin had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable. We will be back.

Loved this cabin. Loved sitting on the porch and watching the kids play near the water. Great, quaint, perfect!

A wonderfully cozy cabin that encourages togetherness, but holds separate spaces in case the family wants to spread out. The hot tub was a hit! It fit our family of five, but would not fit more than that. The property was the best part, with a sprawling grassy area adjacent to the river, so our kids could run around with ease and not tumble into the river on a hillside! Beds were comfortable, kitchen stocked. Keep the mudroom door close and the cold air won't get in the living area. We will be back! My kids were ages 10, 8, and 6 at the time we went. They loved it. House was very kid friendly for our ages. You'd have to put some items up if you have babies, but not too much.

We stayed mid November. The cabin is nice and well appointed. The beds were great, actually best beds I've found in a rental in a long time. All the linens were nice and very comfy. Lots of towels. The cabin was clean. You have everything you need to cook, large selection of knives, silverware, pots and pans. My only disappointment was the charcoal grill. I had planned to use it but found the inside grills disassembled and dirty. I just used the gas stove instead. The jacuzzi was amazing out under the stars by the creek. We had small children with us part of the time (4 and almost 2), not the best place for that age unless you are a very attentive parent (or Grandparent lol). The 4 year old had the time of his life rock jumping in the creek. Yes, even in mid November! The outside space is amazing and we spent most of our time there. Fire pit was so fun roasting marshmellows. A nice man delivered fire wood, I highly recommend calling him. The Tree House looked so fun, but does not automatically come with the rental. I assumed it did, but that was my mistake. It rents with an additional fee, but does not rent independently. Our last night there a bear got into the trash. The bear even opened my car door! With ease! We were in awe of this beautiful creature as we watched him through the window. The men ultimately had to scare him away. Be mindful of bear while visiting there, be vigilant at dusk if you bring a pet and NEVER approach a bear. Would definitely stay there again!
