About this cabin rental
You may have to speak a little louder at the "Old Fisherman's Cottage," as the sound of waterfalls abound at this unique vacation rental. The main cabin was built on 6 acres and only 50 feet from Beech Creek, where only the creek does the rushing.
The cabin's interior features native ash flooring, white pine paneling, and lodge decor. There are 3 bedrooms in the main cabin, all queens. The 4th queen is in the treehouse and is required for any group over 6. The second bathroom is in the treehouse. A large screened porch with table and chairs, a porch swing and other seating opens onto a sun deck then a short ramp to the pavillion. This cabin has all the comforts of home in a private wilderness setting.
The treehouse is required for any group over 6. It features a queen bed, full bath with antique claw foot soaking tub, plus a covered porch with rhododendron railing overlooking the waterfall. This charming, romantic getaway is elevated and has the feel of a tree house. It is finished with all native wood and cathedral ceiling. It has its on TV. It is located only 50 feet from the main cabin yet retains its on privacy. Open the French doors and let the sound of the waterfall soothe you to sleep. The "Treehouse" does not rent separately to assure the privacy of our main cabin guest.
An old, abandoned, narrow gauge, rail bed provides a wonderful hiking trail up the creek. Great pool fishing on designated trout waters for miles upstream of the cabin. If you prefer to use a guide Foscoe Fishing Co's Orvis endorsed guides often frequent Beech Creek and can meet you on site, or book a float trip down the Watauga for world class trophy trout or smallmouth fishing.
Boating and lake fishing are six miles away on beautiful Watauga Lake. Skiing on Beech Mountain is seven miles away, along with world class restaurants and many other activities. Boone is 12 miles away with a multitude of amenities and activities.

My family throughly enjoyed our stay. My 13 yo grandaughter and 10 year old grandson especially enjoyed the creek and were in it at every opportunity. So happy to see them off their electronics and experiencing the outdoors!
We will definitity be back.

My 4 sisters and I have been visiting Beech Mountain since we were small with our grandparents. Their old farmhouse is ours now but we have outgrown it when we all get together with our own families so we need an additional place to stay. Steve’s place is close by and it is absolutely perfect for all ages. Great place to relax, explore and spend quality time together. My kids loved the cute brown dog who visits often! My sisters and I loved everything about the home and property.

My family and I stayed in the Old Fisherman's Cottage to celebrate my retirement! Not a disappointment! Trout stream beside the cabin was absolutely breathtaking. Lots of space...we enjoyed dinners on the screened in porch, hanging out on the covered deck, making s'mores at the firepit and of course, relaxing in the hot tub! The cabin itself was very cozy and nostalgic, with lots of old family pictures that hinted at the history of the family and their life there. Wonderful weekend.... we will be back!

You cannot beat the location! Remote creekside property was great for our family. My boys were off their electronics and outside the whole trip. With the outdoor kitchen, hot tub, fire pit and corn hole, we had very little reason to be inside the cabin. That said, the cabin had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable. We will be back.

Loved this cabin. Loved sitting on the porch and watching the kids play near the water. Great, quaint, perfect!

A wonderfully cozy cabin that encourages togetherness, but holds separate spaces in case the family wants to spread out. The hot tub was a hit! It fit our family of five, but would not fit more than that.
The property was the best part, with a sprawling grassy area adjacent to the river, so our kids could run around with ease and not tumble into the river on a hillside!
Beds were comfortable, kitchen stocked. Keep the mudroom door close and the cold air won't get in the living area.
We will be back! My kids were ages 10, 8, and 6 at the time we went. They loved it. House was very kid friendly for our ages. You'd have to put some items up if you have babies, but not too much.

We had a great time with everything as described in ads

We stayed mid November. The cabin is nice and well appointed. The beds were great, actually best beds I've found in a rental in a long time. All the linens were nice and very comfy. Lots of towels. The cabin was clean. You have everything you need to cook, large selection of knives, silverware, pots and pans. My only disappointment was the charcoal grill. I had planned to use it but found the inside grills disassembled and dirty. I just used the gas stove instead. The jacuzzi was amazing out under the stars by the creek. We had small children with us part of the time (4 and almost 2), not the best place for that age unless you are a very attentive parent (or Grandparent lol). The 4 year old had the time of his life rock jumping in the creek. Yes, even in mid November! The outside space is amazing and we spent most of our time there. Fire pit was so fun roasting marshmellows. A nice man delivered fire wood, I highly recommend calling him. The Tree House looked so fun, but does not automatically come with the rental. I assumed it did, but that was my mistake. It rents with an additional fee, but does not rent independently. Our last night there a bear got into the trash. The bear even opened my car door! With ease! We were in awe of this beautiful creature as we watched him through the window. The men ultimately had to scare him away. Be mindful of bear while visiting there, be vigilant at dusk if you bring a pet and NEVER approach a bear. Would definitely stay there again!

The place was great and the description does not do it justice! We will definitely be back! Everyone had a great time.

The home was amazing, the location awe inspiring. Communication with the owner a bit slow sometimes and codes given didn't work. Had to reach out to the caretaker, but she was AMAZING!

The cabin and Treehouse were very nice, but to me, the selling point of this house was the outdoor space. We spent most of our time creekside and we did almost all of our cooking outside. Very relaxing!

We especially enjoyed the outdoor kitchen overlooking the creek!

It was nice and peaceful. We could hear and see the waterfalls and rapids. The property is well kept and clean. The jacuzzi was fabulous! I have already recommended it to friends!

This property had so much to offer that I wish I had stayed longer! The place itself was so peaceful and beautiful. The home was clean and had absolutely everything that we needed for a 4 day trip. We used the deck and outdoor cooking facilities for breakfast and dinner and really enjoyed eating outdoors with plenty of space. The waterfall and creek are a gorgeous view from almost any portion of the home. The jacuzzi was a bonus every night. My favorite part of this stay was the treehouse. Me and my husband took this room and could sit out on its deck to enjoy the sounds of the waterfall. The bed was also extremely comfortable. We cannot wait to go back!!

The property is gorgeous ! And the people that care for it are great! Every question or concern answered almost immediately ! Patsy is the best and they are lucky to have her! Fishing wasn’t great, but that was not because of the location … clearly I can no longer cast a line after 50 yrs…. But I can catch a tree branch… alive or dead … and the fish ate many a worm without having to touch my hook! As for internet … it wasn’t great for us, but our carrier may be the problem … I personally was greatfull for this problem. And my favorite was the treehouse, because we had lots of rain and the tin roof was awesome. Thank you for sharing your property!

We loved this house. It was very comfortable and clean. The stream and waterfall were amazing. Just wish it were a little warmer, but what can you expect in March, right? We were not disappointed. We had to leave a day early and were so sad but had something come up at home that had to be handled. We will be back!!!

We loved the property and privacy that it allowed the six adults and one child in our party. We just had a nice relaxing vacation and hope to visit again in the Summer when we can get in the creek. The property manager was awesome!!!!!

I just want to brag on the host...While I found the listing a little confusing in regard to the treehouse it was on me for not asking additional questions. I feel that this host went above and beyond to accomidate our family. Communication was prompt and professional. I was pleasantly surprised that without central heating and air, the heating unit worked great to heat the downstairs. If you are the fancy type, this isnt the property for you but if you love rustic charm this is exactly what you are looking for! The cabin rooms are a little small upstairs but this cabin was very cozy. The property itself that sits on the creek with waterfalls is breathtaking. I enjoyed photographing the falls! It has a super cool outdoor area for cooking and relaxing and the hot tub, cornhole boards, and firepit was amazing! Its a ways into town so come prepared but in my opinion you cant get a property in town with the beauty of this creek! We visited for my sons 8th birthday and he loved exploring the creek and fishing. We cant wait to come back in the summer so we can enjoy the water!

We had a nice time and got a lot of snow. The cabin was smaller than expected, but we made it work. Our 2,13 year old, daughters moved the sofa and 2 chairs around so we had enough room. The furniture is old and not significant. I spilled coffee on the indoor/outdoor kitchen rug and tried to clean it outside. I should have left the coffee stained rug on the kitchen floor since we had accident protection, but didn't. We decided to put the, cleaned, rug on the screened porch to dry/dethaw instead of on the hardwood floors. Before we even got home, Steve charged us $50.00 and said that we 'through' (sic) the kitchen rug outside and he had to call in help to move the sofa/futon and 2 old leather chairs that our 2 girls under 5 feet tall moved. We had no water the first night in the tree house because the cleaning lady didn't turn it on. There were cobwebs and dust under the treehouse bed. Steve asked us to keep his water dripping to avoid frozen pipes. We were happy to do that. The way Steve handled charging us $50.00 was unprofessional and tacky. If you have more than 3 or 4 people, are tall or don't have 4x4, find a different place.

We stayed the week before Christmas - maybe not the best time to enjoy all the property has to offer, but we still had a great time. It was super cold when we were there, so we didn’t use the outdoor kitchen at all, but we did have fun in the hot tub! Now that we’ve been, we look forward to going again when it’s warmer!

We had an amazing time... We wanted something secluded quiet peaceful... And that doesn't exactly what we got... The cabin was so cozy . There was plenty of room for everyone.... We enjoyed hiking up the river... We went snow tubing..... We hung out in the hot tub.... We cooked we left we literally had an amazing relaxing weekend... It was a great birthday for me we will definitely be back to rent this cabin in the Spring and fall with our kids..... The owner was super nice and got back with me when I had questions quickly.....

This place is a gem. The property is gorgeous. It has its own waterfall with a deck that sits on the river. There’s a fire pit with benches. The hot tub is new. The outdoor pavilion area has a charcoal grill and full oven and swings. The house is rustic and charming. It says 3 bedrooms in the house but there’s a walk through room with a full size bed that he doesn’t count. The kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans, plates, utensils and cups. It had a microwave and regular coffee maker and a one cup keurig maker. There were some spices too. We texted someone and they brought us wood. There were plenty of blankets, towels and extra pillows. The tree house is amazing. It’s a separate area with a tub, bed, tv and toiletThere is not a store close by so make sure you don’t forget things. 5 miles in the mountains takes 30 mins. The host was easy to communicate with and we will def be back to stay…. Would give this place 10 stars if I could.

The house has rustic charm and abundant hospitality. Everything was thought of…plenty of towels, bed sheets and blankets for our needs. The creek/river beside the house is beautiful and the icing on the cake. We hope to come back in the future. Would highly recommend.

We absolutely had a great time as five foodie friends…very cozy…we cooked and ate and luxuriated on the deck…played games indoor and out…We hope to come back in the spring! Loved it!

My mother has been to this place many times and always said it’s her favorite place. So for her birthday we set up a surprise mini vacation. The location is perfect. It’s very private and the kids enjoyed having so much outside time. The waterfall was so relaxing to listen to at night. The only thing you need is some extra toilet paper and your food. Everything else is supplied. It was an unforgettable weekend’

We rented this place to go skiing at Sugar. If you’re looking for a place close to civilization with fancy amenities this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for the absolute most adorable and perfect get away from everything then this is it. The owner left great directions to Beech Mountain, which is close to Sugar but we decided to test our navigational skills a few times going to and fro and what a treat! The hairpin turns delighted the kids and the views delighted the adults. The actual cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. Be prepared - outside of the home cellular reception is nil until you get closer to more populated areas. There is a house phone and inside the main cabin wifi was perfect. The treehouse was so ridiculously wonderful. I don’t even like baths but stepped into a steaming hot bath each night after skiing in the claw foot tub and it was wonderful. The beds were also extremely comfortable. One cannot write a review of this place without mentioning the creek. That creek was just amazing!! We were actually disappointed that we were there in winter because of all the outdoor amenities that we couldn’t take advantage of because of the cold weather (it snowed the first morning there and it was gorgeous). We will be looking at this place for a summer getaway. It is just perfect!
