About this house rental

Authentic mountain home updated with sophisticated country furnishings. The large great room has vaulted ceilings, expansive glass, HDTV and gas fireplace; also from this level, access the massive private deck with grill and hot tub with beautiful mountain views; updated kitchen has granite counter tops and new appliances; all bedrooms have new furniture and flat-screen HD televisions.

Lower level has a cozy den with fireplace, HDTV, kitchenette with expansive bar, and spacious entrance.

Private master suite has modern tile bathroom and HDTV.

Canaan Valley is the perfect place to visit in any season. Our cooler temperatures in the summer make it a perfect vacation place to get away from it all and just enjoy the beauty the majestic mountains have to offer; conveniently located from Canaan Valley and both State Parks.

Everyone at the office was perfect. We called for firewood when we got there and they brought it within 10 minutes.

The deck needs a good power washing as the pines makes it slippery when wet. I only mention for safety reasons. The gutters need cleaning out. Otherwise it was great. A beaufuful house! Clean. Property manageR super responsive.

The house was exactly what we were looking for , it was the perfect size and everyone was able to sleep comfortably with their own space. The hot tub was perfect after skiing all day. We were able to come back to the house and relax. Everyone was very kind and professional!

Loved the house. Very spacious and comfortable. Excellent for a weekend getaway! We had to change houses prior to our arrival due to a water ban, but everything went smoothly.

The main door was very hard to lock. It might be best to use a touchpad door lock. Very responsive when contacted about how to light the fireplace. Hot tub was awesome! Overall a nice place to stay.

Great location but lacking upkeep

First of all the location is wonderful. Very close to state parks and amazing hikes. Sadly there were quite a few things that this property lacked. A lot of things needed fixed such as light bulbs not working, ceiling fan in the bedroom not working, boards on the deck that are loose and unsafe for small children, and a back up of hair in the shower drain from guests before us. Also the floors were so dirty that they turned our socks black on the first night, the gutters are overflowing with debris, and the porch needed swept off. The windows were very hard to open and close and the internet was having major issues. These things might sound small but when you are paying to stay somewhere a certain level of cleanliness and upkeep are expected. Maintenance came to the home but there was nothing they could do with us staying there at the time. Hopefully it will be clean and fixed for the next set of guests.

Important issues -- clean modern kitchen and renovated bathroom -- made the place extra comfortable. Cooking was easy with most everything needed was available. Nice to have extra toilet paper, soap and paper towels available. Lots of towels provided. Hot tub a delight. Place lacking a cutting board and lighter for candles. Many light bulbs out. Front door lock a real pain -- had to call management company to let us in. And refrigerator wasn't very cold. Front entrance, with unswept pine needles, uninviting. Main floor bathroom tub extremely slick -- couldn't stand up to shower! Maybe cleaning material?

Overall we enjoyed our trip. Just minor things that should be touched up. Lightbulbs that were out, looked like there were places in the kitchen and bathroom that needed painted, some of the tiles pieces were completely up, and there were no shovels. Becky was very helpful and fast at responding to our questions.

This is the second home in the last 2 weeks (last week we stayed on Northpoint Way) we have rented from Mountain Top Rentals. We will definitely be visiting and staying in the area again soon, but will try a different rental company next time. Both properties were acceptable (not outstanding), but the lack of communication really tips the scale for us. Fortunately, the only problems we had were a nasty hot tub and some bad lighting (it was definitely interesting cooking in semi-darkness in the kitchen), but we wonder about having larger issues next time and not being able to get a hold of anyone. Multiple calls and messages concerning the hot tub were not returned. Someone did show up while we were gone to maintenance it, but no follow up call and/or notes were left. It would have been nice to have our calls acknowledged and know that someone was coming to look at the hot tub. And furthermore the hot tub was not properly cleaned on the Saturday visit from maintenance.

Nice property! Roomy with beautiful outdoor space. We enjoyed our stay very much. Only issues are that a bedroom ceiling fan was not working, WiFi cuts in and out, and twin beds slightly uncomfortable. Overall, a terrific getaway.

We enjoyed our stay. We used our own sheets and blankets during our trip due to covid and feeling better using our own, but would return to a property again. We found the property sufficient for our needs and enjoyed the extra space both inside and out on the property. I did send an email prior to check out with some things that need to be checked out before other guests would rent the property. I tried emailing with questions about the property before Check in and again before check out and did not get a response. I did find that the emails I received were great before check in; they included information for picking up our keys and directions to the office. In the future, it would be ideal to have a response to emails especially if there were questions or concerns about the property. It is understood that office hours may be different since we are dealing with covid restrictions.

The house was very nice, neat, tidy and had easy to follow clean up directions. You can comfortably fit 2 couples (queen beds) and 4 single people in this house a 5th might be able to sleep on the couch. It was just a simple 5-8 minute drive to Canaan. There are gas stations and marts close by just in case you forgot anything. The actual location was a bit confusing. If you get to the mountain top office you have gone too far. Go back the way you came and you will see the street exit on your left.

My group of friends really enjoyed staying at this property. Pros: Lots of space to spread-out with 2 common areas, hot-tub and grills on site, centrally located for Black Water Falls SP and Canaan Valley hiking, well equipped. Cons: The hot-tub has a known leak and prevented use for 2 days as it was practically empty upon arrival and the maintenance crew did not come out on Sunday despite my phone call, the downstairs is a bit musty (de-humidifier helps) and the towels upstairs all smelled musty despite being washed. With a bit more care and attention this house will be an amazing retreat!
