About this house rental
REDUCED RATED FOR SUMMER 2024! More affordable than the last two summers! We would also love to help you plan your stay, and be happy to give guidance on local activities and dining!
We are look forward to offering the best of what we have heard folks want. All bedrooms have Smart TV's, and new linens / mattresses / box springs as of 2021-2022. The kitchen has new counter tops, and new tile backsplash, there is also a newly tiled shower. The kitchen is fully stocked for group cooking needs, and has a new easy to clean LVT wood appearance floor. We installed a new hot tub and firepit area in July 2021. The newly upgraded gas fireplace is ready to roll and provide a lovely central space for your group. Keeping everything clean and minimal so there is space to enjoy your trip has been our goal from the beginning, and it has been well received!
For Spring / Summer / Autumn guests, we have a great deck area for entertaining, cooking and eating, and the hot tub and fire pit are right in the mix. We are walking distance to Timberline Mountain and a short drive to Canaan Valley Resort so you can easily tap into their events schedule. You are able to hike into the Dolly Sods, play tennis, fish, golf, and enjoy the outdoors without ever driving more than 3 minutes. You are a short walk away from The Owl Market which boasts wonderful pastries and coffee as well as a beer and wine selection and ice cream service. A short scenic drive and you can enjoy the little towns of Davis and Thomas, as well as Black Water Falls.
For winter guests, we are located at the base of the mountain, so while you are walking distance to the lodge and lifts, you do not need 4WD to access our property! This is a great bonus in bad weather when the steep roads around Timberline Mountain can make access difficult. We are less than 1000 feet from the lift (0.17 miles) We are local home owners, and live and work at Timberline Mountain. We are available for all of your questions and needs should anything arise during your stay.

The house was spacious, clean and stocked with the essentials. The beds were comfortable. The owners was great in communicating with us. I would recommend this cabin!

Very spacious home close to both Davis and Thomas.

I’m so glad we chose this property for our Timberline weekend. The location was perfect. You can see the slopes from the front windows. It was easily walkable to the lodge, which was perfect for our group. We had some in our group who were on the slopes all day, and others that were ready to return after just a few hours. The location made this hassle-free. We found the rental to be clean and well stocked, with comfortable beds, and a cozy gas fireplace. The hot tub was also a great addition. The owners were available for questions, and even let us check-in early after our early sled run time slot at Blackwater Falls. We had a great weekend!

We had a great time staying and skiing with family and friends! The owner allowed an early check-in, which was awesome! The house was inviting and clean. The rug had some pet hair embedded in it, however, which stuck to our clothes quite a bit. All of us felt the beds were comfortable! The kitchen was well-stocked. The knives were sharp, yay! Some of the cooking equip was just ok, but it was fine for us. The hot tub was clean and enjoyable. LOTS of towels stocked, which was fabulous! The washer/dryer worked great and dried our wet gear quickly. We tried the grill, but the propane was empty. Bummer. Didn’t have time to worry about it, though. Smoke detectors.. not sure they were working? We accidentally burned potatoes and no alarm sounded. As for ski lift access... the walk was 5 min and no problem for big kids/adults. It was too exhausting for the littles, however. We ended up driving shuttles back and forth, which worked fine. One strange detail we didn't like.. the 2 doors to the balcony on the upper level had no lock/latch/anything to secure them, just plain doorknobs that could turn from inside or outside. We felt a hotel-style latch would have easily solved this problem, with little effort! As it stood, there was no latch/lock to prevent littles from going out onto the balcony, nor others from potentially coming in. So weird. Did not feel secure. We would love to stay again, but only if the upper balcony doors could be properly secured.

The owner is in the process of upgrading the property and had many nice touches to make it feel cozy and calming.

We stayed here for a family/friends ski weekend. Very convenient location as it's about a 5 minute walk from the Timberline lodge, on the road coming up to Timberline (though not slope-side). The hosts were very communicative and went out of their way to help accommodate.
The reason I'm not rating it 5-stars is because I felt it was a bit pricey relative to the condition of the house, and other rental houses in the neighborhood where we've stayed before. The house is fine and met our needs, but it was basic, with some repairs/modernization needed that I hadn't anticipated based on the photos/description.
Otherwise, we had a great stay and terrific snow conditions for skiing!

We gave our kids a ski trip to Timberline for Christmas. We had never been to Timberline before and drove up from North Carolina. This house suited our needs perfectly for our group ( myself, my wife & our 5 kids) . It was close enough to walk to / from the ski resort which made it very convenient when someone in the group got worn out & needed to take a break longer than the ski lodge could offer. The house was very clean and the heat / utilities worked great. The pots / pans were a bit worn out which was a minor issue when we cooked meals at the house but not a show-stopper. Parking was easy in front of the house for more than 1 vehicle. The hosts were very welcoming and left us a welcome note & a bottle of wine which was very nice. Overall, this was an outstanding place to stay with a group especially if your focus is skiing at Timberline for a few days.

The pictures posted and the actual house are 2 different things. The house was run down, unclean, and not at all what it was listed as.

Beautiful setting and comfortable home. Wonderfully helpful and attentive hosts! We will be back!

The area is gorgeous! We had deer in the backyard everyday. Blackwater Falls is worth the hike. There isn't a lot of activities and shops anywhere nearby. If cult orientation is concerning, Davis is mostly cult oriented. The house is in need of repairs, however it was comfortable. Plenty of parking. Several windows were taped shut, electric blinked in various lights and the hottub needs a clean as it definitely has some mildew.

Beautiful property and has all the amenities one could need.

We enjoyed our stay. We lived that there were enough rooms for everyone to have their own bed. Plenty of towels , beds were very comfortable. Enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. Great communication with the owners.

Was amazing and relaxing and had everything we needed. Literally can only think of one thing it was ever missing and it’s only because i like to chill myself out lol (AC but that’s common in the area)
Owner was so great in communication and even left us wonderful gifts.
Great location and wonderful spacious area.
We will be back

The listing is accurate in many aspects; however, any potential parties should be aware of the inconsistencies this property features. After our arrival—like most people do—a walkthrough was conducted of the rental.
Cleanliness
The rooms and appliances were subpar. The appliances were covered in anything from dust to fingerprints to animal hair, e.g., the dishwasher and refrigerator were both victims. We even found a flossing pick left atop the refrigerator; however, the inside was far worse. Situated in plain site was frozen nasal mucus (i.e., snot), along with an unidentified black spot. The carpet in the downstairs hallway was stained from beginning to end (where the utility and Fox Hole meet). Various dead insects could be found throughout the house on window stools. Cobwebs were found in almost every closet, but the most profound ones were in the utility room.
Renovation in Progress? + Potential Dangers
It was a surprise to find the property in such an unfinished fashion. Yes, we were told such discrepancies existed between actuality and the listing, for example, the water lines to the ice maker froze during the previous winter, so they were out of service. Though we were told of such inconsistencies, they failed to mention the current, ongoing "projects." These “projects” included painting; repairing damaged windows, carpet, appliances, and walls; and replacing/removing old headboards and footboards which were left in the utility room and one closet. No A/C >:(

This is a great property for skiers!! Very close to the slopes. Lots of room!! We stayed in July. It was rather hot out, so air conditioning would be a great thing to add for this property. Owners were super nice and answered all my questions.

We had a nice time visiting the Canaan Valley/Blackwater Falls area.

Excellent location, beautiful
property. Nice furniture. It has everything needed for a great get away.
Hot tub is a plus.

Found this place while looking for a house where five friends could have their own beds for a 3-day motorcycle trip. The host was very hospitable and answered quickly when I had questions. We cooked a few meals during our stay and found that the kitchen had everything we needed. Beds were all comfortable and everyone slept well. Plenty of room in the driveway for multiple vehicles. We stayed in the summer, so it was petty quiet in the neighborhood too. Great deck with gas grill, fire pit and hot tub for spending down time outdoors.

This wonderful cabin was the perfect size for our group, which consisted of four senior citizens, a young parent, and three young children. Sarah and her husband were readily available throughout our stay and responding quickly to any question we had. We are already talking about returning next year and would love to stay at this property again. The large outdoor yard was perfect for the children to be able to get out and run around and ride their balance bike. The beds were comfortable and the house was very clean. Internet service was good and strong and it was nice to have TVs in each of the rooms.

A small group of friends came up to celebrate a birthday. There were six of us, and this little cabin was perfect! Very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen was fully stocked which really helped with cooking meals. The deck and hot tub were so great for having fun after a day of hiking. Would absolutely recommend for anybody looking for a nice, quiet WV mountain getaway

This is our second season staying here. We love this house. The location is very close to the lifts. About five minute short walk down the road - see map. My older kids and I walk home together after skiing. My kids love the hot tub and smokeless fire pit. The indoor gas fireplace is cozy in the evening. Some friendly deer visit. It is also possible to make a short drive to other nearby activities such as Canaan Valley and Blackwater falls state park. The owners are very kind and responsive. I would be happy to return any time of year.

Very nice place to stay!

A nice house, very welcoming owners and ski resort that isn’t huge and overcrowded.
But beware this is NOT ski-in/ski-out as they claim.

Great location, fun trip. Lots of skiing and had some deer visit us in the backyard :)

Our family had a great time here. Everything was very clean, the beds we super comfortable and the house was fully stocked with more than enough towels, blankets and pillows! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals. It was very quiet even though there were other homes nearby. We would like to return, maybe in the winter for some skiing!! Would recommend.

Convenient location
This house fit our group of ten perfectly. The back porch area was great! Big yard, grill, fire pit and hot tub! Not much privacy, as your surrounded by other cabins- but it is extremely convenient to Timberline (you could walk) and at the base of the mountain. The house was clean and the owners were incredibly kind (even when we were late checking out). We will definitely stay here again!
