Great single-family home for get-togethers at the beach! Short walk to the ocean approximately 1800 feet. Newly renovated, amazing kitchen, bathroom, and flooring! Originally, a two-bedroom flat roof cottage the "Kneas Family Cottage" has evolved into the perfect beach vacation location for families hosting five bedrooms and 3 full baths, one-half bath + an outside shower. With a beautiful deck overlooking a large grassy lot, it is walking distance (1800 feet) to the beach, you may also drive and park at the 5th street beach access. Short walk to the Sound, and shopping making it the ideal affordable rental home for large families.

The first-floor living area and newly renovated kitchen are a large open "L" shaped area with plenty of seating for dining, TV, reading area, and gaming. Two bedrooms and one and a half baths are located on the first floor. One of these bedrooms is ideal for children as it hosts 2 full-size beds and three singles. There is also an outside shower to use when returning from the beach. On the second floor, the cozy living area with TV opens to the sun deck. Two of the bedrooms (one queen and one full) are off the second living area with one full bathroom. The third bedroom (queen bed) and bath (master)is separated from the living area for more privacy. The property was more than adequate for out needs. The ADA bath was appreciated. There was space for the family to come together as well as space to separate for alone time. We enjoyed our stay.

This house was nice and clean and within walking distance of the beach if you don't mind crossing the busy street. It had all of the basics. You do need to bring your own sheets and towels which we were all able to do. One problem we had was that it states that there are blankets for all the beds, but we used the two rollaway beds and the trundle mattress and there was only one extra blanket in the whole house to be shared between the three extra beds. I called the hostess and she recommended using the throw on the chair in the living room as the second blanket. My son happened to bring a small blanket for the car and we used that for the third blanket for that last bed. People who are planning on using those beds should know so that they are prepared. Also, there is quite an extensive check-out list but the check-out time is on the earlier end (10 AM). It makes it hard to get everything she wants done. For example, many other places we've stayed ask that you start the dishwasher before you leave. This house asks that you wash it and then unload it as well. Kind of hard to get both of those in with a 10 AM check-out. Laundering of dishcloths and hot pads is similar. An extra hour before check-out would be helpful or a more realistic checkout list. Despite those few things, we had a lovely vacation and appreciated the Kneas Cottage. The hostess answered quickly to all of our questions. Thank you for sharing your space with us!

The house was perfect for our stay. We had adults and one almost teen and everyone had plenty of space! Super close walking distance to the beach, Target and Wawa. And just a short drive to anything else. We would love to hold our family reunion here again next year! Thank you for a great place to get together!!

Great time at this property in Kill Devil Hills. The host was available and helpful whenever needed. Vrbo didn’t contact us till the day before we were to access the property. We became a bit nervous about entrance to the property but the host allayed our fears and all was well. Spacious, clean and very comfortable! Thank you Kneas family!

Our family of 15 loved staying here for our week-long summer vacation. The property is in an ideal location for easy access to everything OBX has to offer. An easy walk to the beach, grocery stores nearby, pretty much anything we needed was very close. Looking forward to coming back again!

The house and deck were smaller than expected. The upstairs "kitchen" could use some work - it's just a sink and lots of cabinets. A small fridge and microwave would be great. A keychain for the keys would be helpful - also think about extending the porch - if the key falls, it's gone! The owner was responsive about the coffee maker not working. The overhead lighting in the kitchen and dining room is harsh fluorescent lights that could be changed. The counter top ice maker was a helpful addition! Advertised beach access includes crossing a major highway - not very conducive when you have a bunch of stuff and kids. We did find a free parking lot a few minutes away that worked for us. Overall the house worked for the nine of use, was just not quite as advertised.

With another couple I brought my daughter and a crew of friends. This property was great for us. It is walking distance from the beach. The boys stayed downstairs in the bedroom with multiple beds. The girls stayed upstairs in the two bedrooms and common room. That area is actually just like its own little apartment and the loved it. We played volleyball in the side yard (brought our own net) and had a great time. It’s a charming place and worked perfectly for us.

Location is pretty optimal; quick drive to everything in OBX. House is spacious & had plenty of room for our very large family. Plenty of parking. Host is very responsive. Concerns we had were a neighbor who approached our family a couple times as we would come in & out of the house, who appeared to be under the influence of something. We weren’t comfortable letting females or the kids play or walk the dog outside, as he was often outside. The walk to the ocean is across a very busy highway, but it’s an easy drive to public beach accesses so we didn’t mind. We found leftover medications in one bed, which did give me some concerns about cleaning but otherwise the property appeared clean.

This property accommodated my entire family with the layout and space for us to be together and seperate when we wanted to be. Bringing everyone together can be stressful and this lovely home provided us with all the comfort we needed. It was close to activities and easy to get to. Any family will be happy with this home.

Had a very enjoyable stay at this property. Lots of communal space. Sleeping rooms were nice and clean and the kitchen was stocked well with dishware and cookware. The internet was nice and fast, which worked well for our group since we had a handful of people who needed to work from home for a portion of the trip. We arrived at our check-in time of 4:00pm, but the cleaners were still finishing cleaning from the previous guests. They were out by 4:30pm and the house was cleaned thoroughly. Overall, a great place to stay for the price! The beach is a short walk away and there are tons of entertainment and food options within a 5-10 min drive from the house.

Perfect house for our 10 family members visiting OBX for a family wedding. Plenty of space to comfortably fit all of us, including two dogs! Love the two recently renovated bathrooms. The large kitchen/dining area was well stocked and had everything we needed. Although you have to cross the main road to get to the beach, it was a quick walk. We are frequent visitors to OBX and this was our first stay in Kill Devil Hills. We really enjoyed this area and would certainly consider coming back!

This year my family decided that we wanted to enjoy Thanksgiving at the beach. We had a great time. The house was well stocked and close to lots of amenities. There were lots of conversation spaces. This property was built with family in mind.

We really enjoyed our stay at this exquisite rental property. We had plenty of room and everything was so comfortable and inviting. Just the perfect place for our family to gather together, and the property owner was so easy to work with. Overall we enjoyed our stay. I do wish the house was a bit cleaner. The photos online were a bit misleading as far as the room size. But all of the extra beds were really handy. We love the large kitchen table. It was a great trip with our family.
