About this house rental
** All guests are welcomed with a bottle of SA wine and chocolate **
Is this the ultimate in pet-friendly Fleurieu holidays? We may be biased, but we think it is! Let's start with its location: lakefront with a private beach! The downstairs living area, main bedroom suite, private courtyard and rear verandah all enjoy stunning views of the beach and the lake. If you want to do more than just sit and stare, drag our kayak a few metres from the back fence to the water line and go for a 4.5km paddle! Go for a swim. Take the rowboat for a spin. Play with the kids on the beach or in the shallow water at the edge of the lake. Also features high-speed Aussie Broadband Wi-Fi and Netflix! This is a truly glorious place to get active or just relax!
The two-storey house is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac just a few minutes walk from Franklin Parade (the esplanade at Encounter Bay). The property has been extensively renovated in September 2017 with a brand-new kitchen, two new bathrooms, new flooring throughout, new furniture in most rooms, new LED lighting, new window treatments and more!
As you walk in the front door to the hallway, there is a large downstairs light and bright bedroom (all beds are made up and ready for your arrival), with a sliding door to the private courtyard, and a wall-mounted TV. Next is a bathroom, which means those who are not able to climb stairs can reside completely downstairs throughout their stay. There is a separate toilet (nicknamed the “Harry Potter Room” because it is under the stairs) and laundry. The hallway ultimately opens onto the main open-plan living area and kitchen. This fully tiled space has a wall of windows looking out to the lake and private beach for uninterrupted views.
There is a dining table and a lounge area with big LCD TV and home theatre and a kitchen with a dishwasher and breakfast bar. This room has three sets of sliding doors: two leading out to the verandah overlooking the lake and one leading to the private central courtyard.
The central courtyard (still with views to the lake) has a wonderful Vergola remote control roof. This enables you to control the light and airflow in the courtyard. It can be completely closed for a waterproof space.
The 4-burner hooded gas BBQ sits in the courtyard, along with an outdoor setting.
Upstairs are three more bedrooms, including one that doubles as a second living space (with TV, and DVD), and two full bathrooms. The main bedroom suite has a large walk-in robe (with views of the lake!), an ensuite bathroom and a large bedroom space with stunning views. It has its own wall-mounted TV.
The back verandah (facing the lake) is a lovely place to sit, relax and enjoy the lake. There is a comfortable outdoor setting as well as two Ikea beach chairs that can be moved anywhere in the garden (or down on the beach).
There is Aussie Broadband Wi-Fi throughout the house with free Netflix in both upstairs and downstairs living areas. This gives you access to a massive library of movies and high-quality TV shows. The kids can be upstairs watching Red Dog 1 and 2 while you're downstairs watching House of Gods!
If you want to walk to the esplanade at Encounter Bay, it is a flat 5-minute walk (there is a cut-through at the bottom of Islander Drive). The house is within walking distance to 3 cafes (our favourite – The Beach House, The Boulevard Cafe (on the lake at Bartel Boulevard) and the Yilki General Store (extremely popular for coffee and an egg roll for breakfast!

A well-presented and comfortable property providing the essentials for an enjoyable holiday. Would love to see the rear area facing the water developed for entertaining rather than using the side area. For two reasons, mainly that its more scenic and spacious, and two, for noise as the enclosed pergola area butts right up to the neighbor's property and we received the impression due to banging doors and windows etc, they did not like the disturbance coming from this outside area. Without the pet-friendly listing, I would rate it as 4/5-stars accommodation. Should be excluded as a pet-friendly place though. One, because it's not until you arrive there do you discover you are not allowed to let your pets in the water/on the beach. This fact should be disclosed in your property profile, even if it's a council regulation. Secondly, you are not allowing the pets on the furniture ( and rightfully so) if you cannot take pets with you on an excursion, you can only leave them in the enclosed area. As such one of our dogs created damage trying to get out, encouraged by the hole he saw at the gate and the noise from the neighboring property. This matter was dealt with by the property manager wonderfully, and while we were willing to pay for damages, they kept it to a minimum and we are extremely grateful. However, the fence line should be completely latticed and gaps dealt with - to call this a pet-friendly property. We would seek elsewhere next time from the pet point of view only.

Fantastic facilities - lovely styling and comfortable. Outstanding location for fun filled days with family.

Just stayed at this beautifully appointed property for the weekend with friends. Would very much recommend the location.
Please read the full listing with regards the bed configuration. Even though we had 4 people booked to stay in this property - only 3 of the beds were made up on arrival. I was told the listing said the 4th bed would be extra (which none of us noticed on the listing). The problem was easily fixed (at additional cost), but just something to watch out for.
A thoroughly awesome time had by all (including the 2 dogs that we brought!!)

holiday
My friend and I greatly enjoyed our stay with the excellent, communication and facilities . This is the third time my family and I have stayed in this holiday home at different times of the year and it always provides a relaxing time away with options for all ages whehter relaxing on site or visiting local attractions
there were 2 concerns this time
- the chairs at the dining table are extremely uncomfortable unless one had long legs as they are very low and their wire construction means the edge at the front of the seat catches the back of the knees or legs of those who are shorter. sitting on them on a pillow proved the solution for me.
- on returning to the house one morning two vehicles on Islander Drive were parked side by side leaving insufficient space for even my small vehicle to go between them. While I was attempting to do so barely moving and inching backwards and forwards to change my position with directions from my friend who was my passenger the owner of one of the parked vehicles came and wad loudly verbally abusive banging on my window. I agreed the likelihood of causing damage in that situation was extremely likely had I proceeded which I did not intend to do. I said he needed to move his vehicle for us to proceed safely which amid further abuse he said he would do. After doing that he continued to yell at us and someone in the house opposite. We noted his 4wd vehicle was always parked on the narrow street despite his residence having an empty double driveway in front of a double garage.
this incident made us very uncomfortable when it should not have occurred and should have been calmly negotiated and solved. It seems the street width may need parking to be allowed only on one side particularly with the size of vehicles using the area.

We had an awesome six day stay here. Beach at the back door, kayaks and a row boat to be active with, clear water to swim in, a five minute walk to great wood fired pizza. I’m holding back as we don’t want the secret to get out!All you need is provided at this lovely property. The master suite has a wonderful king size bed. Living room has Apple TV, Stan and Netflix which were also appreciated when we weren’t in the water. Our family and friends loved our stay. Highly recommend.

Perfect
Our 5 nights here was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays we have had. To be able to swim and kayak from the back door is pretty special. My teenage daughter and son stayed with me and they really enjoyed having their own space in the house. The property was very clean and the recent updating is very tasteful. Thank you! We will definitely be booking another holiday here!

Islander Drive, Encounter Lakes
It suited our needs perfectly. Three bathrooms meant everyone had their own privacy. Our dog enjoyed the lush lawn as we don’t have any at our own house. We loved trying out the kayaks. It was a very relaxing experience.

Excellent location, beautifully decorated, clean and modern. Couldn't fault it

Great place.
A great place to stay, but the expectation of not bringing any sand inside, when you are on a sand beach is a little over the top.

We’ll book it again.
A lovely, quiet property. Well equipped and air conditioned. The outdoor setting facing the lake requires an update as that’s where we spent most of our time. Kitchen is great as is the dining/family area. Some more hanging space/hooks in the bathroom would be a appreciated. All in all, a fabulous property.

Great place, pitty about the hot water
This is the second time I’ve stayed at this holiday home and it is great!
The private beach and lawned area is perfect! The location is also perfect and close to so many things!!
The brand new renovations make for a comfortable and modern stay!
However, the only thing lacking is hot water that doesn’t run out!!! And unfortunately I don’t think it was upgraded in the renovations!
The amount of hot water is only enough for 6 adults to have 1 quick shower each per day.. which doesn’t really work when staying on a beach/lake side!
My other concern is, this would not work if you had children bathing in the evening - no hot water left!
For a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom place (which is great) they really need to do something about this hot water!
When making an enquiry about the hot water while staying there, we were told that they have never had this complaint before and asked how long our showers were?! Hot water running out daily.. is a big let down for such a great holiday rental!
