A large boat dock out back on the canal allows our fisherman to keep their boats in the water, but on low tide watch to ensure enough water depth to get out to the gulf when ready to fish. This property is located on a commercial fishing/clamming canal in the back as well as the Gulf of Mexico in the front making it a unique property in a one-of-a-kind town. Like to fish but didn’t bring a boat, you can fish and crab right from our dock or join others on the new huge fishing pier downtown or many of the other great land fishing spots.
When the sun is setting, step out on the covered front deck to feel the breeze and enjoy the spectacular sunset view over the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. You may see a school of dolphin cavorting in the cove right in front of you or even the swirl of a black drum close enough to make you want to throw a line out. When hunger strikes you ll find everything you need to cook up mouth watering dishes and if you're a fan of the world famous Cedar Key farm raised clams, walk next door to get some from our local clam wholesaler. Cedar Key also offers outstanding local cuisine in its many casual dining restaurants. Check out local musicians performing around town including Steamers Bar & Grill and the Island Hotel.
The natural beauty of Cedar key and its slow pace allow visitors to feel what old Florida must have been like years ago allowing for very restful vacations. Whether you are here to just relax, sit and read a book, kayak, fish or just to enjoy the diverse wildlife, the FishTale Lodge can accommodate you in style.
THE LOCAL AREA

We had the perfect family weekend. Your property was absolutely everything we hoped for as we celebrated our son’s 30th birthday together. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We loved the house and enjoyed your charming island. We hope to be back again sometime soon.

A lucky find on short notice for our offshore spearfishing trip. Plenty of parking, fish cleaning station on pier, and would recommend for anyone who needs space for a boat and extra vehicles. Pet friendly is definitely a plus as well.

The property was comfortable and homey. Beautiful location and views. The kitchen was amazing and had more than enough cookware that we needed to make a small thanksgiving dinner for 4. Was comfortable for my 2 kids and 2 adults. Updated linens and towels would have elevated the stay from an A to an A+.

Had a great time making memories with the family for my husband's birthday and Father's Day weekend. The location is ideal. We stay on the island frequently as locals, 45 minute drive, and loved this spacious and fully equipped home. Amenities were fantastic. One small nit pick issue was the sharp edges on the bar stools, but aside from that we had everything we needed for a very memorable occasion. The porch breezes and views were awesome. Thanks for all the roomy accomodations, we will definitely book again.

Had a business meeting here over the weekend. Great house, location. We all enjoyed it. Kinda disappointed with the electric "grill" but other than that, awesome time.

We had a wonderful week-long stay.
Bill, the owner, was communicative and helpful.
The neighborhood is lively but relaxed and quiet.
We loved fishing off the back porch, watching the sunset on the front porch, and taking the golf cart around town.
The house has comfy beds, a huge kitchen, and everything you could need.
We really enjoyed our stay.

We rented this house as a home base for our sailing group. It proved to be more than that. The view was awesome. It was in a quiet neighborhood with lots of parking for cars, trailers, etc..

This was an exceptional place to relax. The quite neighborhood and community gave us every opportunity to just sit still and unwind. Plus there were activity options on the days that we chose to explore.

Great, quiet street. Nice neighbors and only an 8 minute golf cart ride to restaurants and shops. Nothing exciting but if youre looking for a totally chill time, this is it. House is exactly as shown in pictures. Roomy, clean and comfortable.
Will definitely stay again

What a great place. The house is beautiful and the view is amazing. The owner was very responsive to my communications and even recommended a golf cart rental from someone two houses down, so that made renting and returning very easy. Definitely would book again.

This house was the perfect size for our group of 7. Everything was clean. Kitchen had all the appliances and amenities we needed. About a mile from the dock and the beach with a sidewalk almost the whole way. Very nice for walking or driving to town.

Fantastic location and home. We stayed thru tropical storm Nicole with no problems. Thanks to Bill for sharing your home with us.

Nice property with accurate listing. Has one of about anything you could possibly want in the kitchen. You ar3e basically on the water and maybe 5 min golf cart ride to downtown. Rent the cart from Bob Sea the neighbor. Extremely convenient. Buddy and I took our 80+ year old fathers fishing for a couple of days. They loved the golf cart ride in the evenings with a modest roadie drink. Check out Captain Chad Osteen. Very funny and tries really hard to put you on some fish. Great time will be back

Our family visited Cedar Key often when we were kids, that’s where Dad taught us to fish. Those memories brought my family and my twin brothers family back to the island where we could share memories with our now 20-something children.
The FishTale Lodge was the perfect place to share a beautiful long weekend in October with family.
FishTale is a prime location, and a perfect blend of rustic design with everything updated for your convenience.
Absolutely try the local clams, golf carts are the perfect way to get around, great restaurants downtown, watch the tides, and enjoy one of the most natural beautiful parts of Floridas coast.

The house had everything anyone could possibly need. Its location on a dead end street limited traffic and even on a Labor Day weekend it was peaceful & relaxing. We’d go again in a heartbeat.

Excellent location on Cedar Key
Home is a very good location on quiet street but easy golf cart ride to downtown restaurants, shops, beach etc. We went out on boat everyday - fishing, swimming, some scalloping. Caught crab in crab pot off back of house. Saw dolphins, rays and all sorts of hermit and horseshoe crabs. Make sure to check tides - canal behind house is not passable at lower tide times & most boats won’t be able to be kept there. (There’s plenty of parking in large driveway area - we had truck & long boat trailer and it fit fine, along with 2 golf carts & 2 cars) Also area around the various keys can get quite shallow
Nice view from kitchen and dining/living area. House is very well stocked. Owner communicative & we rented golf carts from neighbor. Two granddaughters hs a great time as did everyone else too. We ate at Steamers twice (we usually do all cooking at home or eat out only o ce so going back to a place tells you how much we liked it) - steamers, oysters Rockefeller, crab cakes, crab legs, seafood pasta. 1842 Daily Hrind was very good too & cute merchandise. We went to welcome center and also the little aquarium run by UF research - learned about clam farming, small touch tank and couple of other tanks. Overall an excellent place. Family is ready to go back.
Noseeums we’re bad in evening. Perhaps screening in porch area would help (but then the view out to gulf would t be as clear) Showers are small & there is no tub. Do wish there was a grill other foreman electric (but we cooked in crockpot everyday) and be prepared to schlep your stuff up the stairs.

Great location
Very clean and easy access to everything in Cedar Key. Planning on a return trip next June. Lots of parking and close to the boat ramp.

Plenty of room and beautiful views
We had a wonderful experience. Area neighbors were nice and friendly. Beautiful clear views of the water. Plenty of room and stocked with lots of essentials, only thing missing was a regular grill. The only other thing, which wasn’t much of a problem but we thought we would be able to use the dock. We had to pull our boat out each day. Not being able to use the dock definitely took off some time on our trip. There was no way of using it even at high tide. But overall we had a very nice family vacation and enjoyed our stay very much!

Home away from home!
This is our second stay at the fish lodge and we will continue to rent here as it’s a great family home rental! Lots of room, for teenage boys and our boat which is paramount. The Fish Lodge is clean, well stocked, and very comfortable beds after a hard day of fishing. Bill, the owner, is very responsive and easy to work with, The house is well labeled with instructions for all appliances and electronics which is so nice when you’re unfamiliar with them. Thank you again for another wonderful stay. We are looking forward to returning in a few months!
